So there's a lot of speculation about whether or not Palin will be able to bring in the women's vote - simply because she's a woman.
Personally - I think Democrats are smarter than that and that few - very few - would consider voting for a woman of another party for the sole reason that she is a woman. We tend to vote on issues, the platform.
Can't speak for all women, of course, but a few of my friends were texting me during the Barack Obama's acceptance speech Thursday night. These are all Democrats who supported Hillary in the primary.
I feel that my friends are all a lot smarter than I think Republicans are hoping!
One told me that she was happy to vote for Obama (I know the decision was tough for her during the primary here back in March - we're in Ohio), but she wasn't enthusiastic until last night. She just kept going on and on and on about how he clinched it for her. She now has NOOOOOO reservations about voting for him and is now excited about it. Heck - she has even signed up to volunteer and is going to go see him and Biden today - here in Dublin, OH. (Columbus suburb) Another friend called me yesterday morning BEFORE work to tell me that she was a die-hard, sisterhood-of-the-traveling-pantsuits, Hillary supporter. She even said that if her husband knew how much she'd donated to her campaign, he'd have a cow! Last night after the speech, every bit of enmity just flew out the window. She said the first thing she did afterwards was to set up a profile on mybo.com and make a donation! She's also asked me to get her some bumper stickers, signs, you name it! I've recently become a neighborhood team leader and was at the Hilliard Campaign for Change watch party Thursday night. I"ll get pictures posted soon - on my website at www.dizzyspinster.com if you'd like to see them. (They'll be up this weekend) But - it was a GREAT time! We were all so excited - I mean jumping up and down excited. The enthusiasm was just through the roof - contagious even. It was awesome! We have so many more people signed up to make phone calls, to canvass neighborhoods, to hold house parties, so put up signs, start up conversations - you name it. I LOVE IT! I'm excited over all of this, but to top it all off, Obama & Biden are going to be here in Columbus (Dublin) today and I've been an active volunteer since February - longer than some, shorter than some - but I have NEVER heard him speak in person. It's always been on the TV or online. I'm SOOOOO EXCITED!! I also can't wait to canvass tomorrow / Sunday - it'll be great! The people in my neighborhood are going to be overwhelmed at the enthusiasm that is going to meet them at their doors Sunday afternoon. This is great. This begins the change. GOBAMA! GO BIDEN! Heather
