) continues it's run in NYC's East Village every Monday, with this April 6 session featuring European recording artist Liz Menezes in an acoustic set of Bossa Nova, followed by the NYC debut of Pravini, before the mic goes open to the floor. The International Film Festival Summit Europe, taking place in Paris, April 7-8, is the annual conference and trade show for professionals from the film festival industry and provides a platform for the community to explore ways to collaborate and promote the advancement of the film festival industry. At the 2009 MEDIAWEEK Upfront Conference in New York, April 14, seasoned Mediaweek editors will help decipher the strengths and weaknesses among the broadcast and cable networks, TV syndicators and digital players all competing for a piece of the $18 billion Upfront Marketplace. DETOUR: A Film Noir and Arts Festival on April 16 in Brooklyn's DUMBO area, will feature a selection of short films drawing upon the Film Noir genre, in conjunction with photography, live jazz, and a "steamy" burlesque show, all moving along the lines of the evenings central theme - Film Noir.
"Bigger Than Hollywood: Working in Cinema for a Greater Purpose" is a panel discussion and networking session set for April 16 at the New School, Greenwich Village campus, New York. In Las Vegas, April 18-23, the NAB Show™ attended by media, entertainment and communications professionals who share a passion for producing the next generation of audio, video, and filmed content across multiple platforms, will this year add Alternate Reality and Game Day focusing on game development techniques and marketing strategies to the format, as well as the usual Content Creators Party. For the third year, the Tribeca Film Festival, running April 22 to May 3, teams up with sports entertainment powerhouse ESPN to present a showcase of films as a segment of the program, but there are also premieres of family-friendly films, showcases of local young filmmakers, and an all-day Street Fair, as well as usual activity geared to the international film loving community. Right on the heels of just being named a UNESCO City of Music, Glasgow will host the first ever Hinterland, a multi venue arts and music festival which will take place in and around 20 music art venues in central Glasgow with performances by established groups like post-punk band The Fall, April 30 to May 1, and will provide a free compilation album for all ticket holders.
