In our small group discussion, we spoke of the importance of www.recovery.com to the development of public trust. If the information is current, detailed and adequate, it will go a long way toward convincing the American public that its tax funds are being spent productively. Further, citizens will begin to believe that the bleeding will stop in the near term and that recovery is possible.
There are two other websites already in existence which also are worth a look.
US Budget Watch (http://www.usbudgetwatch.org/stimulus) is quite comprehensive and goes well beyond the current stimulus bill. This is a project of The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB), a non-profit (http://www.usbudgetwatch.org/). The Board of Directors of CRFB is set forth at http://www.usbudgetwatch.org/about/board. It is quite substantial.
The other interesting site is Stimulus Watch (http://stimuluswatch.org/). A description of this site can be found at http://www.stimuluswatch.org/home/faqs. The database is the stimulus funding requests assembled by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
