No one was going to stop Bush and Cheney from doing what they did. They were in constant fabrication mode. They had the reigns of power and were listening to no one. When many Democrats in Congress pushed for a timetable on Iraq they ignored every word. When John McCain railed against torture of prisoners they ignored every word. When the people voted many Republicans out of Congress because of their Iraq policies they pretended it didn't happen. The American people were lied to and deceived, had all these torture memos come out before 2004, Bush couldn't have been elected to dog catcher. All this Palosi talk is a diversion, Bush and Cheney were going to do what they do best, act like spineless cowards and throw caution and morals to the wind.
