Clearly the religious right rebranded LGBT issues as "same-sex marriage" instead of civil unions precisely to make it more culturally divisive. I have never wanted some sort of court ordered church marriage. I live in Canada right now with my Korean partner because of discriminatory US immigration laws. It is ironic that we are fighting Islamic Extremism abroad while tolerating "Christian" Extremism here at home. I don't care what religious fanatics think about me and they are entitled to practice their faith. What they should not be allowed to do is to have referendums where they deny me civil rights by a simple majority vote. And as an African American I am even more appalled by the rank homophobia exhibited by black "community leaders" in denying the equivalence of the struggles. I grew up in an Alabama where Jews stridently defended the civil rights of blacks because they knew that the same lynch mob that came for me could just as easily turn and come for them. Finally, Barack Obama's selection of Rick Warren for the Inaugural Invocation simply leaves me speechless. I intend to return his transition team's incessant requests for more donations with the advice that they solicit in the future from their "friends" at Saddleback.
