I've been thinking a lot about the way the media is painting our country racist. What does that say about the lengths they will go to forward their agenda? They, along with Hillary and McCain are making our country look even more pathetic and backwards to the rest of the world than it already does by insisting repeatedly that white voters will not support a black man for President. How do they explain Idaho, Vermont, Maine, Iowa, etc., etc.?!?!?
We can't let the media ruin our standing in the world; it is damaged enough. I am so sick of the poisonous spin, I had to vent!

Mom for Obama

It makes for more contentious headlines to focus on the few biased individuals than to show hard working folk who are more representative of average Americans. We don't make for good TV or sound bites.

Vanessa,
Mom raises a good point. Loudmouthed idiots will always get better media coverage than average people simply because they are loudmouthed. This is part of the reason that Bill O'Reilly and Pat Buchanan are on TV, and you and I are not. :)
The media needs to keep the campaign controversial so that they can sell newspapers, books and magazines and keep those ratings coming. Someone saying they think Obama is a terrific candidate is not sexy. Someone saying they won't vote for Obama because of his race is sexy, at least to the media.
Of course, these are the same media who apparently think Anna Nicole Smith and Britney Spears are sexy, since we've seen a lot of them the last few years in places where actual news information used to be. Like the network evening news.
As for the rest of the world having a low opinion of our country, that ship sailed some time ago, and Bush is its captain. Sad but true.
We can work for change, installing Obama as captain and turning the ship around, but we're going to have to wade through a lot of slop between now and November, and it will get worse before it gets better.
If the media would stop being big-business whores and start practicing journalism again, it would help. But I'm not holding my breath.
