OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WE ARE NOT SAYING HE CHEATED ONLY THAT HE MIGHT. SENATOR OBAMA HAD AN AWFUL COLD TODAY MEANS HE WAS ILL AT SADDLEBACK. (COLD SOMETIMES SETS ON FOR A COUPLE WEEKS AT LEAST). GOOD HE HAD HIS VACATION.SENATOR OBAMA WAS CERTAINLY MORE GRACIOUS AND GRACEFUL.
TWO CONVERSATIONS AT SADDLENECK
The meeting took place in a Church and Senator Obama's presentation respected that scene and audience. He used it well to invite the public to a moral discussion and reflection, as he did in his speech on race. It was a well thought presentation from which the audience left knowing Obama better. Obama did not rush with ready answers, he was deliberate and even hesitant. After all they spoke about ethics and values, about life's choices. Not all of this translates into the stamp or from the stamp. Obama has left the stamp behind the door of the Church. Not that he did not aim at winning the hearts and minds of certain new voters. He did but he used nuance.
Or he just told the plain truth as about his use of drugs when he was young. I am glad he spoke about it. Young people and teenagers may be encouraged by the openness of the presidential candidate. If he can speak about it, perhaps I can too?. Perhaps one can leave such experiments as a stage in life?.He did. How? Why do I use? - perhaps this can be changed?
Here McCain concurred with an equal sincerity. For him the most regrettable episode in his life was the way his first marriage ended. He did not dwell on the whys. On today's FACE THE NATION McCain's surrogate spoke about this answer for two minutes ...without mentioning what it was. No first wife's here. Cindy First! We are facing the Nation!.
As for the rest - at moments McCain was embarrassing. Leave war behind Church's door, especially if you are so very very pro-life, please. Obama was truthful without being offensive, as in his answer to “when does life begin?”. Obama said frankly that he is not qualify to know. McCain seems to have known the answer for the last 25 years (even though the science as well as the society and issues – have changed). Thus his quickie: "At conception!" worthy of a second grader in need of an A. Really at conception? Or at the time of all those actions, knowledge based decisions that make conception possible or not. Obama perhaps “does not know”, but in his policy he treats LIFE as if it would start even earlier than conception. “Prevention?” McCain does not give a damn since prevention does not buy votes.
Last night's two conversations at Saddleback have left me again with more respect for the Barack Obama's way. I am sure some people in the audiences have appreciated his way as well. Or will ponder about it.
