Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the March 10th morning news content.
For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.
I run a blog that compiles pretty much every major news article and commentary that comes out each day about Senator Obama. My hope is that it's a useful tool for those who want to keep up with everything going on in the campaign. I also contribute my own commentary as well.
I hope this is helpful to everyone.

Hi Cris,
I am addicted to your blog and check it several times a day.
I've been wanting to contact you in regards to the research you did and what issues & points convinced you that Barack Obama is the best person for this job. I'm grateful that you were thoughtful in this process.
I'm an Obama supporter and am pretty much obsessed by the race at this point. I spend every spare minute I can following the ms and alternative media on the issues.Thank you so much for the blog you created, it makes following the coverage a lot easier.
I must say that I'm a little disheartened by the tone and tactics of the Clinton campaign, but I hope Hope and Change will prevail, as we as a country desperately need someone in the WH who really has the people's interests at heart.

Hello,
I'm currently stuck in my classroom wishing that I had just a few minutes to make phone calls. Since I can't help make phone calls right now, I hope that you all will make a donation to help me honor service men and woman, reach my goal, and add to the momentum of "our" campaign.
My goal ($2195) centers around my husband and his job. He is in the US Army and has not been to IRAQ--quite rare. His current assignment is a recruiter. I'd like 100 people to donate $21.95 in honor of a member of the United States Armed Services. Additionally, I'd like to compose a list of all the brave men and women honored by your donations. Please send me the name of the US Service man or woman that you’d like to honor.

It seems to me that they're trying to change the course of the election and as such they should just say that.
Anyways, it's just another small way to maybe make an impact on at least the person who has to read the comments.

Hillary’s New Math Problem
Tuesday's big wins? The delegate calculus just got worse.
Jonathan Alter
Newsweek Web Exclusive
Updated: 6:48 PM ET Mar 5, 2008
Hillary Clinton won big victories Tuesday night in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island. But she's now even further behind in the race for the Democratic nomination. How could that be? Math. It's relentless.
To beat Barack Obama among pledged delegates, Clinton now needs even bigger margins in the 12 remaining primaries than she needed when I ran the numbers on Monday--an average of 23 points, which is more than double what she received in Ohio.
Superdelegates won't help Clinton if she cannot erase Obama's lead among pledged delegates, which now stands at roughly 134. Caucus results from Texas aren't complete, but Clinton will probably net about 10 delegates out of March 4. That's 10 down, 134 to go. Good luck.
I've asked several prominent uncommitted superdelegates if there's any chance they would reverse the will of Democratic voters. They all say no. It would shatter young people and destroy the party.
Hillary's only hope lies in the popular vote-a yardstick on which she now trails Obama by about 600,000 votes. Should she end the primary season in June with a lead in popular votes, she could get a hearing from uncommitted superdelegates for all the other arguments that she would make a stronger nominee. (Wins the big states, etc.). If she loses both the pledged delegate count and the popular vote, no argument will cause the superdelegates to disenfranchise millions of Democratic voters. It will be over.
Projecting popular votes precisely is impossible because there's no way to calculate turnout. But Clinton would likely need do-overs in Michigan and Florida (whose January primaries didn't count because they broke Democratic Party rules). But even this probably wouldn't give her the necessary popular vote margins.
Remember, Obama's name wasn't even on the Michigan ballot when voters there went to the polls. Even if he's trounced there (and Michigan, won by Jesse Jackson in 1988, has a large African-American vote in its primary), Obama would still win hundreds of thousands of popular votes. This is also an argument for why Obama may end up preferring a primary to a caucus in Michigan. (Obama has done better in caucuses).

Florida, with its heavy population of elderly and Jewish voters, might be a better place for Hillary to close the popular vote gap. But even if you assume she does five points better than her double-digit win there in the meaningless February primary (where no one campaigned), she would still fall short.
I'm no good at math, but with the help of "Slate’s Delegate Calculator" I've once again scoped out the rest of the primaries. In order to show how deep a hole she's in, I've given her the benefit of the doubt every week. That's 12 victories in a row, bigger in total than Obama's run of 11 straight. And this time I've assigned her even larger margins than I did before in Wyoming, North Carolina, Indiana and Kentucky.
So here we go again:
Let's assume that on Saturday in Wyoming, Hillary's March 4 momentum gives her an Ohio-style 10-point win, confounding every expectation. Next Tuesday in Mississippi, where African-Americans play a big role in the Democratic primary, she shocks the political world by again winning 55-45.
Then on April 22, the big one-Pennsylvania-and it's a Hillary blow-out: 60-40, with Clinton picking up a whopping 32 delegates. She wins both of Guam's two delegates on May 3 and Indiana's proximity to Illinois does Obama no good on May 6. The Hoosiers go for Hillary 55-45 and the same day brings another huge upset in a heavily African-American state. Enough blacks desert Obama to give North Carolina to Hillary in another big win, 55-45, netting her seven more delegates.
May 13 in West Virginia is no kinder to Obama, and he loses by double digits, netting Clinton two delegates. Another 60-40 landslide on May 20 in Kentucky nets her 11 more. The same day brings Oregon, a classic Obama state. Ooops! He loses there 52-48. Hillary wins by 10 in Montana and South Dakota on June 3 and the scheduled primary season ends on June 7 in Puerto Rico with another big Viva Clinton! Hillary pulls off a 60-40 landslide, giving her another 11 delegates.

Given that I've put not a thumb but my whole fist on the scale, this fanciful calculation gives Hillary the lead, right? Actually, it makes the score 1,625 to 1,584 for Obama. A margin of 39 pledged delegates may not seem like much, but remember, the chances of Obama losing state after state by 20-point margins are slim to none.
So no matter how you cut it, Obama will almost certainly end the primaries with a pledged delegate lead, courtesy of all those landslides in February. What happens then? Will Democrats come together before the Denver Convention opens in late August?
We know that Hillary is unlikely to quit. This will leave it up to the superdelegates to figure out how to settle on a nominee. With 205 already committed to Obama, he would need another 200 uncommitted superdelegates to get to the magic number of 2025 delegates needed to nominate. But that's only under my crazy pro-Hillary projections. More likely, Obama would need about 50-100 of the approximately 500 uncommitted superdelegates, which shouldn't be too difficult.
But let's say all the weeks of negative feeling have taken a toll. Let's say that Clinton supporters are feeling embittered and inclined to sit on their hands. It's not too hard to imagine prominent superdelegates asking Obama to consider putting Hillary on the ticket.
This might be the wrong move for him. A national security choice like Sen. Jim Webb, former Sen. Sam Nunn or retired Gen. Anthony Zinni could make more sense. But if Obama did ask Clinton, don't assume she would say no just because she has, well, already served as de facto vice president for eight years under her husband. (Sorry, Al).
In fact, she would probably say yes. When there's a good chance to win, almost no one has ever said no. (Colin Powell is the exception). In 1960, when the vice-presidency was worth a lot less, Senate Majority Leader Lyndon Johnson gave up his powerful position to run with John F. Kennedy.
How about Clinton-Obama? Nope. The Clintonites can spin to their heart's content about how big March 4 was for them. How close the race is. How they've got the Big Mo now.
Tell it to Slate's Delegate Calculator. Again.

BHO needs to campaign heavily in PR, because HRC's husband pardoned several of the FALN members. So that means that anybody who they gave pardons to owes them a vote of gratitude. That's also the reason many elected officials from members of Congress on down, are voting and supporting her, they owe The Clinton's big time.

This article does a pretty good job telling the truth about Clinton's recent decision to conveniently be against NAFTA.
Link
As an aside, I make a lot of phone calls. I think my curiosity helps me a lot – because I really do like to hear what other people think. One of the things I have been curious about is how people felt about NAFTA when Clinton signed it. - Without exception, no matter what state I am calling, people tell me they didn't think it was a good idea. I didn't either – I'm old enough to remember and I wondered, “How is this good for us?” I thought I had to be missing something. ...time has shown me to be right – me, and EVERY SINGLE person I have asked.
Here's the article that really pointed out to ME why HRC being president is going to make it impossible for me to balance my budget. I'll be honest with you – I could never figure out why Mitt Romney didn't do better, considering his seemingly brilliance regarding the economy. I have a feeling, those people who didn't vote for him looked at how seriously he hurt his own state with health care...the same plan HRC has.
Link
Remember in the debate when Barack Obama said, “Her plan is good for the insurance company – his plan is good for the people.”? Hillary made no attempt to disagree. This is my opinion – Hillary, in every way is great for her lobbyists, not the people...they funded her campaign. We the people have funded Barack's campaign – HE is good for us.
Throughout this campaign we have had a huge up-hill battle because of people voting early – those early votes almost always go to Hillary because of name recognition or because they remember the Clinton years as good years, not realizing they set us up for the bad years to come – how could anyone ever guess that Bush would screw things up even further giving tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans and throwing the rest of us to the curb! We ARE in a mess. We need a leader who is FOR US, the people...the top 2% income earners will be fine – most of us need to survive and heal.

We should remember that the fake Canadaian NAFTA gate story (I still believe was crafted by the Clintons) has stained Obama badly. They made him appear to be saying one thing to voters here and saying something else abroad. Basically they questioned his integrity. How ironic, of all people to question anyone's integrity, the Clintons? More ironic is that they are believed by many.
We need voters to understand the story was false and was crafted to affect the primaries on March 4th against Obama. Obama's advisor was falsely and deliberately accused of saying one thing when he said something else. Obama defended his advisor because he trusts him and he has every reason to. The Canadians have come up with 4 different versions of the same story to throw us off track. They had no business meddling. We need unaware voters to know this for a fact so we can flush it out once and for all, right now it has been swept under the carpet waiting to creep back out when John McCain marches in. You know some of these republicans would not care if it's true or false they will spin to their advantage (exactly what Hillary did!?)

Confronting the Kitchen Sink
More serious was Senator Clinton’s assertion that she was qualified to be commander in chief, and that John McCain had also “certainly” crossed that “threshold,” but that the jury was still out on Mr. Obama.
In other words, if a choice on national security had to be made today between Senators Obama and McCain, voters — according to Mrs. Clinton’s logic — should choose Senator McCain.
That is a low thing for a Democratic presidential candidate to do to a rival in a party primary.
Senator Clinton never gave a second thought to opening the trap door beneath her fellow Democrat.
There was Mrs. Clinton on “60 Minutes,” being interviewed by Steve Kroft. He had shown a clip on the program of a voter in Ohio who said that he’d heard that Senator Obama didn’t know the national anthem, “wouldn’t use the Holy Bible,” and was a Muslim.
Mr. Kroft asked Senator Clinton if she believed that Senator Obama is a Muslim. In one of the sleaziest moments of the campaign to date, Senator Clinton replied: “No. No. Why would I? No, there is nothing to base that on. As far as I know.”
As far as I know.
If Mrs. Clinton had been asked if she thought President Bush was a Muslim, would her response have included the caveat “as far as I know”? What about Senator McCain? Why, then, with Senator Obama?
In the run-up to the crucial Texas and Ohio primaries, the plan in the Clinton camp, as The Times reported, was to unleash as many lines of attack as possible — a “kitchen sink” fusillade — in the hope that something would work.
Mr. Obama now needs an added dimension. He needs to articulate a vision. He needs to spell out to voters where he wants to take this country over the next few years, how he will alleviate the suffering of millions trapped in vicious economic circumstances and what he will do to restore the honor and prestige of the U.S. around the world.
We have seen election after election in which candidates have won by fanning the anxieties of voters. Elect me,or something terrible will happen to you!
That is now the Clinton mantra, which is a measure of how grim our politics have become.

Hi,
Hillary comparing herself to John Mccain has nothing to do with experience. She was only reminding the voter's of OHIO that Barack is different. She was simply playing the game of the old south. They have caught such a rap for drawing illusions of Mr. Obama and Jesse Jackson being the same, that she used the secret code of we are both white and he's black theory. Since Ohio is a state with a somewhat backward mentality and still uses the "N" word without regard or hesitation, it leads one to believe that was her sole purpose. You would definately have to be born in a southern state to recognize this type behavior. It is an obvious fact that we will have to comfront, that there are some no matter how well defined he is will not vote for him because of his race. My sincere hope is there's enough of us out there to help compensate for those pinheads.

True Lova, you hit the nail on the head with this. Sadly, they are old south rules, but I grew up with them in southern Illinois in the early 1970's (near E. St. Louis). They are everywhere. She is pandering to a deep, unspoken mistrust of African Americans, and everyone knows what she's doing--but nobody can say anything about it because nothing has "actually been said". Thus it's an "unspoken rule".
I will add for the record that sexism against women is around, too. But we're talking about Obama.
We're really gonna have to work for rural white votes in PA & IN. They're out there, but we're gonna have to drag them to the polls.

And thank you above for finally, on this thread, thanking the service members overseas! Senator Obama made a wonderful video and the campaign was great to put it up on the site. So, I'm sorry we had to go so far down the thread before acknowledging it.

All the candidates signed an agreement not to canvass in MI or FL, and Hillary campaigned in FL anyway! All those that had a say in this, all agreed that MI and FL would not be a player, and from what I've heard (from a radio talk show), the 2024 number has MI and FL already subtracted from the total tally. At least all parties involved knows that they cannot "hoodwink" us. They've been trying to do that with the HRC-BO ticket. PUH-LEEES!

With Foster's win in IL, we should be blogging and spreading the word of it in this context: Obama has coat tails. He actively supported and campaigned for Foster, and the result was a whippin' and a regain of DENNY HASTERYS seat.
Spread it!
Reminder...another narrative to share with everyone is the magic happens that occured on Friday night... check it out:
No Robo call my friends.
As you might recall, my twin brother has cancer that he may not recover from. I set up a personal fundraising page in his honor to support Barack...who gives Steve HOPE. The local air-america morning guy, lee rayburn, saw my email regaring Steve's cancer and the page I set up ...and mentioned it on the air. Here's the website of Rayburn:
Link
Anyway...a old friend of ours heard about it over the air, and SHE has a sister who knows Barack's personal assistant... long story short..I sent contact info, and at exactly 7:38 p.m. Friday night Barack made time (though he was busily campaigning in WY) to call a very sick man who has dedicated as much of his remaining energy as he can to his campaign.
It is that compassion, wisdom, and connectivity to the common man that makes Barack the choice for ALL of us. It was a thrill, and a touching moment for me personally, and it was great to hear Barack say to steve that Steve's fight embodies the very best of his own campaign. Go to my donation page and please donate for Steve and Barack, and continue to pray for Steve and Barack!
Please also go to my fundraising page that honors Steve and helps Obama at the same time.

Love to All, Rob
p.s. Please send this narraqtive to everyone you know, blog, etc. let's spread the word of Barack's spirit!

Thanks to the generosity of several people who donated frequent flyer miles, we were able to send 28 out-of-state supporters to Texas and Ohio, which I’m sure contributed substantially to how well Barack did there.
Now it’s on to Pennsylvania, another important “big state.” Anyone out there have miles they want to donate? It takes 25,000 for a ticket. (Unfortunately, it’s not proving very practical to combine accounts from several people to make up that 25,000 because too many airlines and transfer fees are involved.)
So – who’s got at least 25,000 miles on the same airline which they’d like to donate to an excellent cause: making sure Barack Obama is our next President!
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don’t reply on the blogs; I probably won’t see your response.)

Just sent this to all the MSM's I could find. Whattya think:::
To whom it may concern;
As an educated, intelligent individual, I find it insulting that the main stream media continues to buy into every thing that comes out of the Clinton camp. Have you no shame in your obvious bias for Senator Clinton and you insistance to turn a blind eye to all of the lies, manipulations and contradictions? The people of this country, and the world, turn to your shows to receive what they believe to be news. News is not opinion, it is not biased, it is simply fact. What the main stream media has been reporting over the past 2 weeks is nothing short of gossip in favor of a woman who has obviously taken over. She has apparently taken over the ability to think for the individuals who work, write and report on these programs. She has bought your integrity.
How many of you became involved in journalism so that you could sell out and be bought to the highest bidder? How many of you, while in college, imagined yourselves becoming mere puppets of one of the most corrupt figures of our generation? That is what you and your "news" programs have become. You are simply puppets of who has the most power, money, favors and fear. You should be so proud.
There are people in this country who turn to your programs, in good faith, and walk away with ideas. It your responsibility to make sure that you are presenting ideas that are fair, balanced and transparent. I challenge you not only as professionals, but as humans and Americans to stop this sicking bias towards Clinton. You are doing no one any favors. She does not have a hope against hope of winning the White House in November. The only way she can win at this point is to lie, cheat, manipulate and steal. You are currently her best accomplice in these crimes.

AS CONTINUED::::
Why is the management of her campaign, or lack thereof, not a headline story? Why is her refusal to turn over her tax reports not a headline stroy? Why would you call her wins in Rhode Island and Ohio a "huge comeback" when a week earlier you reported she needed to win by at least 60%? She did not win by that much in Ohio, though she thought she would. She did not win in Texas, so please stop referring to this as a "victory". Why do you insist on covering her small margin wins as "huge" while downplaying Senator Obama's SIGNIFICANT margins of victory? What do you imagine will happen if she is allowed to steal this nomination away from Obama? Do you dare to suggest that his millions of supporters will vote for Clinton? Do you dare to assume that we will shrink quietly into the night, nursing our wounds? You would be at the very least ignorant to depend on either of those outcomes.
A good reporter relies on facts. A good reporter does the research, the homework and the follow up. Has anyone in your offices bothered to get online and look at the web blogs? There is an overwhelming rise against Clinton, support for Obama and a sense that we will not take it anymore. You would be wise to pay attention to these sentiments. I am not suggesting that you become "pro Obama" in your programs, simply that you become equal and balanced. If your going to report an attack on Obama by Clinton, then you should give as much attention to his response.
As stated above, I challenge the owners, writers, editors, producers, and anchors to reach deep. Not into your pockets, or those of the Clinton campaign, but deep into yourselves in order to find your ability to think independently and smartly. But most of all, I challenge you to find your integrity.

It was good to see Sen. Obama's surrogates and then him presonally on the airwaves stamping out the Clinton's attempt to minimize his position by suggesting they would offer him the VP spot.
There was a lot of MSM coverage of the absurdity of the candidate who is behind offering the frontrunner the number two spot on a dream ticket. Those kind of attempts need to be addressed and dismissed immediately and I was glad to see the Obama campaign do so.
I've also finally seen more coverage, particularly on the web, questioning Hillary's foreign policy experience. FINALLY.
I also saw an article on DailyKos Sunday, March 9, 2008, questioning her claim that as First Lady she helped pass the Family and Medical Leave Act. Senator Dodd is generally credited with being the author of the FMLA and it took about 7 years to get it passed. George H.W. Bush vetoed it both times it passed Congress. It was a campaign promise of Bill Clinton to sign it when elected and he did on February 5, 1993 -- 16 days after taking office.
The claim of Hillary Clinton that as First Lady she helped pass the Family and Medical Leave Act is just hype and another misrepresentation of her record of "experience."
Let's continue to keep the Clinton campaign accountable. Let's push the media to do the same.
I believe the Clinton campaign has crossed the line with her win at all costs tactics and is hurting the democratic campaign in November and the democratic party. Her actions shout that if she's not the nominee, John McCain is the second most qualified to be Commander in Chief. Eergh!
I live in Indiana and accidentally came across Rush Limbaugh on the radio in my car today and the republicans are having a field day with all of Sen. Clinton's shenanigans.
Clinton needs to be stopped before she does any more damage. I personally am done making excuses and apologizing for them.
Let's get to work.

I visited my grandmother recently and the subject of who to vote for came up. I asked her what she thought about Barack and she said, "He's too inexperienced." I replied, "They're all senators and the only executive duties they've ever run is thier campaigns, and he's run a good one." Her response was, "Yeah, he has."
The point is that Barack has created this campaign -- no one taught him how to incorporate new voters from the youth, independents, and Rebublicans of America. Somehow he just trusted his gut and led us past a contest that experience would say was supposed to end Super Tuesday.
Tricks and format can be taught, but wisdom has to be accepted. Barack has never bowed downed to experience over the substance he must accept in order to be a better leader, a better canidate, and better president.
If President for Dummies was an option, we'd all be lining up.
Thank you Barack for being the solution and not the problem.

Say no to Florida/Michigan Mail in vote. This is a stupid idea that we should vehemently reject.
This is a recipe for FRAUD. The Establishment will rig and cheat!!!
SAY NO TO MAIL IN VOTES. Florida is notorious for fraud. With the desperation we all see, the Establishment will do EVERYTHING to RIG Florida.
Even Sen. Nelson who is pushing this told Wolf Blitzer-CNN Situation Room, this afternoon that it will be difficult to march signatures of ballots and registration cards. So, why does he still want to do mail-in votes? He had no answers for Wolf.
Remember NYC, there was a lot of fraud. In 78 Precincts including Harlem Obama had Zero votes recorded. This was confirmed by the mayor of NY Mr. Bloomberg and was reported all over the NY Times.
Remember NM. HRC supporter/Election Official carried home 3 ballots boxes overnight and brought them the following day for counting and reporting.
It is a SHAME that here in America we can not hold free, fair and clean elections!!!
Shame on all those who believe you have to CHEAT or do anything to win.
SAY YES TO 50/50 split of the delegates and move on.
A loser can not and should dedicate the rules of the game.

The Commander and Chief question. |
Report to Admin
By
Kengard
Mar 10th 2008 at 8:56 pm EDT
The argument of whether Obama is fit to be Commander and Chief is one that needs to be addressed by us. The first thing that needs to be talked about is the current condition of our military. The current administration has destroyed our military’s ability to protect America and to react to event that might threaten our friends in the world. For example, our military's capacity to care for itself and to support itself has drastically been cut with the selling of these jobs to no bib contracts to our current vice presidents company that he helped create (can you say conflict of interest?).
Obama can show the people that he is ready to be Commander and Chief by taking this issue on by the horns. Obama needs to talk about our weakened military in these aspects and talk about how he is going to re-creating our military to pre Gulf War strength.
How can this be done?
1. Separating our military from the likes of KBR and Halliburton companies and having our own military take over the jobs these companies do for the military. The reason to do this is because having civilians in a war zone takes soldiers that would be used to fight the enemy on the front lines away from those front lines to guard the civilians.
2. Having support personnel be military rather than civilian creates more soldier to fight when needed. All soldiers are trained first to be able to act as an infantry soldier. Remember Bastogne in the Battle of the Bulge during World War Two. There, all military personnel were forced to fight, which helped hold the city against the German offence.
3. The civilians that work in the war zone make huge amounts of money performing their duties (or lack of performing the duties). This is a huge moral deflator since our military people make peanuts in comparison.
There are many more reasons to pursue this line of thinking, one of which will show that our man Obama is ready to be a real Commander and Chief, unlike others who say they are ready.
