---
The focus of Stamets' research is the Northwest's native fungal genome, mycelium, but along the way he has filed 22 patents for mushroom-related technologies, including pesticidal fungi that trick insects into eating them, and mushrooms that can break down the neurotoxins used in nerve gas.
There are cosmic implications as well. Stamets believes we could terraform other worlds in our galaxy by sowing a mix of fungal spores and other seeds to create an ecological footprint on a new planet.

Paul Stamets has come up with some incredible discoveries using fungi that have incredible implications for our national security and even potential independence from Fossil Fuels. I believe that his research should be exploited to the fullest to improve the earth's soil, clean up environmental hazards, and supplement or potentially replace the use of crude oil with fungi based byproducts. Paul needs to be listened to and actions based on his research need to take place. Somehow, our world needs to be made free of fossil fuels. Paul may be on the cusp of how to do it.
