As a life long Democrat, I have faithffully cast my vote in every election and made financial contributions when I was able. For the first time in my life, I have joined up to work. I attended the Camp Obama in Fresno this past weekend. All my expectataions were met and exceeded! I met so many wonderful people from different parts of our state who drove long distances to learn and to work. The greatest part was sitting outside and calling voters in New Mexico. Everyone was so friendly and supportive. Only one person was still undecided out of the 17 I spoke with on the phone.
Although I live in California, my community is so conservative you cannot talk about politics as you will be shunned. I found 5 other people who live nearby and we formed our own support group. WE are going to get the word out so others will feel supported.
My youngest daughter asked why I would choose to donate my time to work on Obama's cmapaign. I told her that is was for her and her sister and her brother. If they are going to live in a democracy then the process has to work. More importantly, I have not been inspired since John F. Kennedy and Robert ran for office. Barack Obama is not promisisng me and my family an easy future, but he is saying that he will work with us to bruild a better future.
Keep you posted about life in the underground community of Clovis California
