The event will be in preparation for the November election, and will be held at the end of September or the beginning of October. The primary goal of the event will be to raise awareness of the need to get registered to vote in RL. the secondary goal is to get at least 5 residents who aren't registered to register to vote in RL. The event will have DJs and more information and updates can be found virtualprogress.wordpress.com and in the SL group Netroots and as comments here on this blog, please post updates and info and suggestions if you have them.
Lets have a big showing of Obama supporters in SL at this event, and invite all your SL friends to the party and perhaps you'll encourage someone to get registered.
We need to have a participatory government again. Even if we participate as avatars!
Obama in SL meetings are Tuesday night, 7:30pm Pacific time, at the grassroots headquarters. Note, there is no meeting Sept 4th.
FYI - second life is a virtual world that is free to join, you just need a computer with a good video card. To join Second Life (SL), just go to www.secondlife.com and download the software. Then join, create an avatar (person) and learn to interact in this virtual world with over a million regular users.
