Congrats to you, President-Elect Obama!While I am extremely happy for you and for our country, I do have some concerns which are at the heart of much of our nations problems today.The Economy: THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL FEDERAL RESERVE: You must eliminate the federal reserve system if the American people are to have any chance of prospering. Restore the power of coining money to the people. Give it back to the treasury. Restore the value that our currency once had, as it was a receipt for, and redeemable in gold. If our dollar remains unpegged, we the people will be on our knees by both the inflation and deflationary spirals which will result. " I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. ."-Thomas JeffersonForeign Policy: ISRAEL ISRAEL ISRAEL. While I am an American Jew, I am embarrassed and ashamed of the Israeli government and their daily atrocities against a helpless population, the Palestinians. If America is to be taken seriously, we MUST not turn a blind eye to Israel. Why is it wrong for Iran, a nation who hasn't attacked anyone in hundreds of years, to develop nuclear energy in accordance with the non-proliferation treaty (to which they are a co-signer). Why is that not acceptable when the most aggressive and dangerous country in that region has NUCLEAR BOMBS? Israel, unlike Iran, is NOT a cosigner to the non-proliferation treaty. THIS KIND OF DOUBLE STANDARD IS WHAT DIMINISHES OUR REPUTATION THE MOST.I understand the power of AIPAC and the influence of the lobby in this country. I'm sure it's hard to speak out for whats right in fear of retaliation BUT THAT IS WHAT LEADERS DO. Please sir, you are smarter than this, and as you said, we are a better country than this.I wish you my most sincere congratulations. You are an inspiration to us all. I only hope you use your intelligence and critical thinking on all matters, not just the less controversial. David
