Hi all! I have now 26 of the 56 blocks we need and most of you are mailing yours next week. Three of us, luckily, live in the same town and we are going to work on the sashing at a quilt store on the 20th and the 24th (reserved the workroom). This is going to be a valuable piece of this historic campaign! You all MIGHT want to copy the URL of our fr page in nice large font and see if your local quilt store will post it (along with a little story about our history)...seems like there are fellow quilters who are Obama supporters who would just LOVE this quilt. Maybe Val will give us permission to use her creative poem (if we say, 'one of our members, Val, wrote this) on the blog...here it is:
I Title me posts "SEW SEW Wonderful">> Yes, I meant "SEW"> That's no typo you see> Just continue reading> How happy you'll be.>> Today in America> There's sewing being done> All in quilt blocks> And we're having such fun.>> This huge Fundraiser's ready> For all to come see> This is so much more> Than a home quilting bee.>> Something wonderful has happened> It's History in the making> An Obama quilt to celebrate> May be yours for the taking.>> The theme of the quilt> "Turning America Blue"> And I know we all dream> To make this come true.>> I'm one who's been sewing> And proud I am too> To be part of this fundraiser> Now how about you?>> So now just follow the link> Bring your wallets along> Then we can celebrate together> With a donation and a song.
I think this will really inspire folks to donate (from the blog)...anyone else creative like this? if you share we'll get in on the blog daily. THanks.
