There has been much in the news recently about whether Barack Obama will "be ready on day one" to be President. There have been a couple of recent news articles on Obama, his judgement and this question.
Ted Sorensen ( best known as President JFK's Special Counsel & Adviser, legendary speechwriter, and "alter-ego" ) has an article in The New Republic comparing the Obama candidacy with JFK's 1960 run for president. He strongly endorses Obama based on his judgement, and says compared to other cadidates he is "more than ready" to be president on day one. The article requires a subscription to read, but I found a youtube clip of Sorensen on Charlie Rose endorsing Obama for President. Here's another comment from Sorensen:
"What counts most in a President is not experience, Cheney and Rumsfeld had experience, what counts most is not his position on particular issues, because the issues come and go, what counts most is judgement. It was judgement that brought us through the Cuban Missile Crisis."
Zbigniew Brzezinski (National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter) has also endorsed Obama for President. Here is a clip of his recent appearance on Bloomberg news commenting on how Obama has the right foreign policy for this new century. His thought's on Obama's approach to foreign policy:
"I think there is a need for a fundamental rethinking of how we conduct world affairs, and Obama seems to me to have both the guts and intelligence to address that issue and to change the nature of America's relationship with the world."
