Fuggeddaboudit!The only reason a person would keep trying to breathe life into this dead Wright story would be to swiftboat Barack Obama. It's not even subtle. Let's break this down - for the 1 trillionth time ...1. Rev. Wright, for over 30 years, has been part of a church that does lots of community work - that's how Obama met him and became a member.2. Wright's worst sermons were condensed into sound bites that give a false representation of the man and his work. Sure - he's a scarred Black man in America - we have lots of them - so what? A few rants of a "crazy uncle" does not deserve all this concern and media attention.3. Obama is HIS OWN MAN. He can be in the midst of a city/country of angry people and not be thrown off center. Obama has been on an open-ended learning curve with humans all his life ... he watches, listens, learns ... about the human condition, how it affects communities, and how it can be helped. Pay attention to the important things!4. Wright was on the eve of retirement - no need to make a fuss.5. If we must be accountable for the rants & ravings of our associates, we all have some explaining to do! If we close our ears to all sides of the human condition, we choose to be ignorant, fearful and detrimental to ourselves & our fellow man. We are not part of the solution; we are the problem! As Pogo says, "We have found the enemy and he is US!"
People who are worried about Wright's influence on Obama are projecting their own fear & weakness. Yes, 20+ years in a Black activist organization of any kind would have to influence a person in some way. If you are Barack Obama, you weigh all arguments and pass on your ENLIGHTENED extrapolations to your family & neighbors. You teach them how NOT to hate, how NOT to spew angry sentiments to vulnerable people. You take your experience & use it for GOOD.
How many angry AA's has Obama helped calm, heal, understand, balance? If you took a survey, I bet you will come up with big numbers of jaded & wounded ethnic people who have been mellowed out and balanced in their thinking because Obama has been able to process several sides of the issue. I'm willing to bet that's more than this race inflaming, fear peddling swiftboating journalist can do. If you're paying attention, you will see the core mission of Obama is to UNITE people and bring them together to work out solutions to our nation's problems. He uses all his life experience and wisdom to this end. He is uniquely qualified to do this - unlike anyone else. UNLESS YOU CAN HELP HEAL THE SITUATION, LEAVE IT ALONE. Listen to Obama's Wright speech over & over until you can grasp what he is saying. Then try to repeat it and help take us forward, not backward. ENOUGH FEAR MONGERING. ENOUGH RACE FLAMING. ENOUGH IGNORANCE AND DIVISION. WE WANT CHANGE.
