The response has been fantastic. Thank you to everyone who has made some time to see the 1400 hundred images of Cuba. I could say much more, but the pictures do speak for themselves. And a special thank you to everyone who continues to spread the great compliments on my Cuba film Cuba's Love and Suicide, the movie. This movie is special in many ways. Mostly because everyone who sees it, truly committs to abolishing the 47 year old failed embargo on Cuba. More could be said, ideally in a few months, when Obama is President of The United States, one of his first steps will be to abolish the embargo on Cuba. Go Obama, Go freedom for all. Luis Moro

Are you the author of a mass mailing claiming that Luis Moro is on the short list to be named Senator Obama's running mate? This has caused some confusion and questions on the rapid response group, I've written you privately but your mail is bouncing and you haven't responded via the messaging system here.
I'm trying to understand if this was you, and if so, what the reason behind it was.
Thank you.

To all who need to know.
Obviously Luis Moro on the short list for VP was a joke. It was my humor committed to bringing awareness to the failed embargo on Cuba and our need to abolish it.
Fortunately most of the people have responded consistent with the joke. They become a friend and feel the same way as I do about abolishing the embargo on Cuba.
Unfortunately at least one person, maybe more; actually took the VP part serious. I should be so lucky. Maybe them to.
Everything in the release is true, minus the part that I'm on Barack Obama's short list for VP. Though I would accept it if offered, odds are more unqualified people will be considered.
I do trust Obama will use his best judgment and choose a person that no body wants, is not a career politician and has the same commitment to abolish the embargo on Cuba as most of the world has.
Thank you for your time and I do apologize for any confusion I may have caused. Good Luck with all you do.
Best regards,
Luis Moro
Ps; From what I know, Barack can also take a good joke. :)

After reading your excellent blog, I can sure see why Obama would choose you as a running mate.
If he is pressured to choose someone well known, I am sure he will want you as his very
closest advisor right there in the White House.
I know Bush was loyal to the point of being stupid in keeping cabinet members that weren't qualified. But he will need someone like you with fresh ideas for your loyalty and bright ideas
daily. There is just so much to keep up with in running the country. Obama knows he is not the most important person in the world. The people are the most important and their collective thinking.

You are clearly in favor of ending the embargo with Cuba, but how would you ensure that any money that comes out of that goes to the Cuban citizens and not just to the government officials. As a Cuban immigrant, I am skeptical about sending money or visiting, because I know first hand that the money never trickles down, rather it just empowers the oppressors. The Dollar is used to purchase products, but the citizens are paid in Pesos, subsequently when American money circulates (via tourism or money sent, and later through the effects of lifting the embargo) it only circulates among the elite, which as you know are usually government officials. I am honestly, just asking an opinion. This is not an attack, nor a search for one. Just curious as to how other Cuba supporters feel about different issues.
Your pictures are indeed amazing, continue the good work and I commend you on your initiative and efforts.

Claudia
Thank you for the inquiry and compliment on the photos.
When Cuba was funded by the former Soviet Union, it was easy to control funds going to the Cuban Government.
With open tourism visitors get to actually give workers tips directly. Yes state run business will still collect money; but many Cuban people will also directly collect cash.
What's more important. The human to human invasion is much more important, if not equal to receiving cash.
Upon lifting the embargo, the overwhelming attack of "free" people visiting the island will simply drown any ounce of communism or socialism left. Think Berlin Wall.
We invaded Germany with MTV, Coca-Cola and tourist, tourist, tourist.
Lastly, one thing is fore-sure, our current policy against Cuba has not worked for 47 years. What is there to question about any new method - when the existing one is a clear outright 47 year old failure.
So in effect, if the "oppressors in Cuba" are going to continue oppressing. At least by abolishing the embargo we can visit Cuba, see our friends and families, and learn about Cuba with our own first hand experiences.
Said another way. U.S. policy towards Cuba has not worked the way it is for 47 years. Let's try another way and have no embargo for 47 years to see if it works.
Thanks again for your time and thoughts.
Best regards,
Luis
