It is now the night before the IN and NC primaries and I am now back from my trip to NC. I came home feeling very positive about NC. I had an awesome time. I arrived on Thursday. I had rented a car at the airport and had a few things I had to do. So I took care of those things and headed to find a hotel. Friday morning I headed to the Greensboro Obama office to meet Lindsey. There were several people there bright and early. I met the guy who flew from England to canvass (my hero) and also Suzannah, from TX, who I ended up spending the day with. Suzannah and I took 2 people to the voting booth (they had early voting there) and also canvassed at 105 homes. It was great. Saturday I drove to Lexington to meet up with a high school friend I haven't seen in 9 years. Armed with my GPS, I found Lexington and met my friend Sue. We went to the Lexington Obama office where we met Scott. Sue and I went to around 70 homes and again, it was a very positive day. Many people there had already early voted for Barack. I headed back to Greensboro...on the way back I went to the African Art store at the mall and picked up some very cool Obama tees and a baseball cap. The went back to the Greensboro office and helped prepare the Obama door hangers for the next day. These were going to be put on the doors with stickers telling people where their particular voting booths are. I stayed there till around 9:30pm. This was so much fun....we laughed and sang. Headed back there at 11am Sunday morning and went out canvassing with Joan, who was from Alabama. Joan and I canvassed hanging door hangers until around 2:00 then I had to head to the airport. I sure wish I could still be there helping out, but I am so happy that I was able to continue with this amazing journey and I cannot wait to do more....I can look back and remember all the wonderful people I met and the fantastic people I talked to and connected with over the course of those 3 days....especially the man who made me laugh asking me about my Barack t-shirt and the awesome flight attendant who even sat down to talk to me about Senator Obama because he saw me wearing my Obama tee on the flight home. (btw he is a supporter and will be voting for him in November!) But the most positive memory will be working with a great team of people with all one goal in mind, having Senator Obama win NC, making him our nominee and our next President!!!! Yes We Can..
