Last night I was watching Obama give his “closing argument” speech in Cincinnati Ohio. Listening to him is inspiring and moving. He really does give Hope. He will Change Washington. Most importantly he Unites our country. He recognizes we all are Americans regardless of political or religious affiliations, regardless of our chosen occupations, and regardless of where we live.
At the same time McCain and Palin are driving a wedge between the country. Is one state or county really more patriotic than another? How many times have we heard accusations that Obama supports terrorists organizations and they him? Instead of focusing on economic solutions it was easier to brand Obama as a Socialist. None of those tactics worked, but they continue to try to fear America into a McCain vote. It is hateful, it is not inspiring and it does nothing to unite our country.
As a country we have to ask who inspires us? Who will best represent our country to the world? Who will make the best choices for the whole of the country not just a select few. Who will unite this country that has been rapidly dividing since the days of Newt Gingrich's “Contract with America”. The country as a whole made a mistake last presidential election. This time we can work together to correct it.
