On Election Night - as the returns were coming in -- I was eagerly awaiting the results while putting our 3 yr. old to bed. Just before he went to sleep, I asked him, "What does the President do?" He replied in a matter of fact way, "He has a microphone." When I asked "what else does the President do?" He said, "Well, there are two, Barack Obama and John McCain. Barack Obama is coming to my house. (then with his index finger pointing in my face and w/ a scolding voice, he continued..)John McCain is NOT coming to my house. I further asked him what Barack Obama would do at his house. He replied, "Well, he's not bringing his microphone. He's going to share my (sand)shovels." The following day, he asked, "When is Barack Obama coming to my house?" He even cried when told that he was probably too busy on Wednesday to come over to play. An historic memory for an historic event. Who knows, perhaps my son will meet Barack Obama some day. -- maybe not in the sandbox though.
