I'm hearing a lot of Obama supporters, campaign big-wigs, and even Obama himself say that he expects to win less states than Hillary Clinton. Are we giving up? I sure hope that we haven't come this far to stop now. Am I the only one who feels like I feel?I WANT TO SEE HIM WIN!
I am a little disappointed to hear him and his campaign advisors saying that they expect Hillary to win more states. I have the audacity to hope that he can actually beat her and any other candidate who stands in his way. He and those involved in his campaign have to feel the same way. Americans have shown that they like to vote for a winner. If he and those around him don't believe he can win, then why should America's voters? I know what the polls and analysts are saying. I know what those who study demographics and their effects are saying. I also know that Hillary Clinton has been established for longer and has made more connections because of her longer time in the public eye. I don't care because none of this has ever stopped the Obama campaign before. Let's not get wrapped up in the polls and whatnot. If we're really fired up and ready to go, let's be fired up and ready to go until the end! I believe that we can win because if Barack Obama wins, AMERICA WINS! They counted the Giants out, too. In spite of this, look what they did on Super Bowl Sunday. I believe that what took place there will set the tone for Super Tuesday.

They do expect her to win more states, but remember the delegates are awarded proportionally so if he keeps it close in delegate count he can go on to fight, and probably outperform her when he doesn't have to run in 20+ states at one time.

I believe in Obama. I don't care what happens on February 5th. If he won every state or lost every state, I believe in Obama. I am a supporter of his to the end. On February 9th, we will pour her attention on Louisiana and Washington. On the 10th, we go to Maine. On the 12th we go to Maryland, Virginia, and DC. And as we go to these states, the only thing I have to say is:
Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!

For the Obama campaign, Super Tuesday is only part of the race; the tip of the iceberg.
Hillary is the establishment candidate, and the primary this year has been set up to her advantage. She was SUPPOSED to have sewn the nomination up by the end of Super Tuesday. (Hillary's disappointment after losing Iowa was real; she had expected to win every state by a wide margin.) It was widely held within the party elite that Barack Obama had no real chance in this one. How wrong they were.
But the Super Tuesday odds are in Hillary's favor. The Clinton machine has been preparing for this day since 2001. Many, if not most, of those supporting Hillary are of the old 'us vs them' mindset. They see Hillary riding on the vapor trail of Bill's Presidential legacy and think she has a better chance due to name recognition. For a great many of them, the policies of the candidate are not as important as perceived electability. Another Hillary advantage is that of absentee balloting, where votes were cast far in advance of recent events such as the powerful Obama surge. But now is where the good news comes in.
Hillary's political machine was heavily front loaded for Super Tuesday, with no real emphasis on the remaining states. As each day passes we see Obama getting stronger and Hillary getting weaker. Polls are trending towards Obama. New voters are flocking to Obama in record numbers. Voters in the post Super Tuesday states see this as well. Remember, a tidal wave takes a bit of time to reach maximum mass. Every vote Obama gets today counts, and every vote is needed. But the great mass of the wave will be seen in the states that caucus after Super Tuesday. Obama will do well today, every point shaved off the built-in Clinton favored lead is a victory. Every delegate scored is a victory. The final prize is the nomination, and the winner will not be known until all states have had their say.
Hillary prepared for a sprint, Obama trained for a marathon. Obama will beat Hillary, but not today. Today is still part of the sprint out of the gate. Be strong and of good cheer while getting out the vote and watching the returns. Remember, the Obama campaign has planned it this way. The crest of the wave is coming.

Sprint vs. Marathon, you are so right. She was supposed to have this all sewn up on Super Tuesday because she was so "inevitable". Time was always our enemy but there was nothing we could do about that.
We can still win the battle through attrition. We have unprecedented energy and optimism on our side and we can parlay that into an eventual nomination if we keep working at it.
Remember, guys, Hillary was supposed to win tonight, but what matters is can we keep the delegate count close, can we eat into her delegate majority with results better than expected. That's what will count in the long run. It is a marathon. Hillary is sprinting, she'll run out of breath long before Obama...if he can keep up the pressure.
