I applaud the inspirational speech President Obama has made in Cairo. I'm not a Muslim and I'm Asian who grew up in Asia the better part of my life. Although the speech is primarily targeted at Muslims, in particular Arabs and Israel, it resonates among us all regardless of race and religion. What he's talking about are universal values, universal aspirations of ordinary people around the world. Amidst all our differences, we really do have a lot in common. It is a wonder to see & hear an American president reminding us of this because politicians are usually more concerned about their own political survival than to tell the truth like it is. I've been a hardcore political cynic but now the cynicism is fading. I think President Obama has started something very profound. I've never been as excited and optimistic about the future shape of the world and our lives. This new world order proposed by President Obama is closer to the hearts of ordinary folks around the world and we should all play our small part in helping to realize it.
