Barack fired up a crowd of 11,000 people at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio this evening.Barack discussed his commitment to human rights. He said:
We will lead in ending the genocide in Darfur. We will lead by having the highest standards of civil rights and civil liberties and due process. We will close Guantanamo we will practice habeas corpus, because you will have a President who's practiced law and understands the Constitution.
He also spoke about the importance of believing in hope:
Hope is imagining, then fighting for what did not seem possible before. Not to solve our problems easily. Not to think that somehow because we win an election that everything's going to be okay. But we have the chance to join together and work hard on behalf of future generations. There's a moment in the life of every generation where that spirit has to come through. When we can imagine that a better world is possible when we are willing to work for it.
Lucy, Crystal, Olakunle, Neb, and Benyam came to see Barack and “his campaign for hope” at the event tonight. All five are voting for Obama because they want to see “new faces in Washington.”Barack's college assistance program is of interest to them, along with his view on immigration and the economy. Olakunle said that he agrees that “immigration is not the cause for the problems with the job market” and believes that Barack can change our economy for the better. As college students looking toward the future, these five are excited for change and have hope in how Barack can make a difference in our nation.
