Help try and get Barack Obama to THE NUMBER ONE SPOT!!! Make sure to move the bar to 100 before voting!!!

When I made this post Barack Obama was sitting at 35 on the list.
He is now up to 6 thanks to you all (That is 29 spots we moved him working as a team).
There has been over 26,000 new votes since I began posting this and hope we can get 200,000 people to vote for Barack Obama the average vote has gone from 49 up to 60.
That is a 11 point increase in 3 days, but we still have 8 points to go to top number 1.
It’s up to us to bring change so try to email 5 friends and get them to vote for Obama too.

There are many others on the list to vote for try and give a few other of your favorites a bump.

Even Hillary Clinton is on there be nice and give her a bump too (She was at 191 when I looked so not even making the top 100)

Reverend Jeremiah Wright is also on the list and if you think he got a bum wrap by the Media poorly portraying who he really is, like I believe, give him a bump too (He was at 186 when I wrote this and is up to 153 now, I use this as my chance to stick it to the Media for not representing people as a whole and only abusing snippets of what people say.)

This is a small chance to show we are a movement and can make real changes happen by getting everyone you can all your Obama buddies to log in and vote!!!
By making him number one as the most influential it could open the door to skeptical voters who might give him a second look and reconsider giving him their vote.

From what I can gather from Colbert (who is a distant second) he is a Korean singer/entertainer. Colbert did a music video of his own to try to catch up in the time poll in which he dresses like Rain and signs a bit in Korean -- very entertaining.

Dear Obama friends.. The Debate..

It is difficult to resist a wry smile at what the ABC tried to do in the Philadelphia debate. A lot of expectation and emotional energy on this side was invested in the event, which means we risk suffering an equal measure of disappointment if we fail to recognise the opportunity we gained.

As you could see - there was no debate. Simply a clumsy attempt at a premeditated media ambush. Sorry about mentioning "the bush word". Fortunately the ABC ploy backfired. In fact we should thank them, it allowed their target Senator Barack Obama to win an important moral victory without having to spend one advertising dollar.

Unfortunately as Barack clearly understood, it was the voters who were again denied. A serious debate is supposed to allow people to compare the attitudes and policy positions of the respective candidates. And hell will freeze over before the Clinton connections in the US media will allow that.

Solution: More quality Radio and TV advertising funded by increased fund raising. In the present environment, that is the only sure way to get Barack's unpolluted message to the people of America. Wednesday was only a dress rehearsal for what is to come. Once more up to the breach dear friends! Go Obama .. Come November .. Yes we can.

The quote above is one of the universally known King pearls of wisdom and one that applies especially to this nomination race and the up coming general election.

Consider that many the world over neither like nor trust politicians, reasons we neither like nor trust them is because more often than not, come election year they are gregariously congenial, enjoy popular support, seem to be ever present and confoundingly loud when seeking elected office in order to shape and mold domestic and foreign policy.

Only to dumbfound supporters and voters alike after having been elected by becoming obnoxiously insular, conspicuously absent from direct public purview/contact and subsiding into expertise at delivering carefully crafted speeches (to be sure) that are utterly devoid of meaning in terms of concrete measures to be taken in resolving problems (aka meat and potatoes), a clear elucidation of how actual problems came into being, the proactive way forward and parameters by which success or failure can be weighed/measured.

How does Barack stack up with the common negative aspects of politicians in the scenario above?

Barack has demonstrated a willingness and ability to lead on the Invasion of Iraq in terms of concrete measures to be taken in resolving problems (aka Iraqi resolution of inter-ethnic/religious conflict), a clear elucidation of how actual problems came into being, the proactive way forward and parameters by which success or failure can be weighed/measured.

He could have chosen "comfort and convenience" when running for state senate office in Illinois. It would have been incredibly easy to adopt no official position or one that was in line with that of the outgoing administration or public opinion, both then strongly in favor of the Invasion. In a "time of challenge and controversy", Barack deliberately chose to depart from the status quo at the time and was numbered among the appallingly few elected officials that opposed the Invasion from the outset, said so publicly and went into detail as to reasons why.

According to Bill Clinton, "If you are Afraid or too much of an Elitist to play the game, you should not wear the Uniform!"

I take this to mean that Bill Clinton did NOT want to defend the USA during the Vietman War. He HID in England instead of wearing a Military Uniform like millions of other REAL AMERICANS.

They've been screaming with a big red headline "Developing: Hillary slams democratic activist", but it's been like 30 min and nothing. Anybody have any idea? Maybe something to do with Moveon.org? That would be the ultimate slap in the face. Moveon.org was made by millions of activist to defend the Clintons during the 90's.

I think that it is true that Hillary, Chelsea, and McCain are the true elitists.

But, scarier about McCain are the facts that:
1. He backed down from Bush in 2000. - Why?
2. He did NOT support Max Cleleand, a true Vietnam War Hero.- Why?
3. He did NOT support John Kerry, a Vietnam War Hero, when Kerry was attacked by the "Swift Boat" Clowns. - Why?
4. He has become a "Bush Clone," the servant of the Bush Machine. - Why?

Matthews is a Dem....no denying that.

He is a tv talking head. Period. He tries to play it both sides but has admitted that he loves the idea of Obama as the next POTUS. That has gotten him into trouble. Tonight he discussed how the Clintons always have someone biting at his ankle demanding an apology or a suspension.

I don't think we need to go on a witch hunt after all the media guys. I have seen too much of this talk on the blogs today. Some of these people are truly our allies though it may sometimes seem like they are not. Please do your homework before you start attacking these people.

The Huffington Post headline reads "Hillary Slams Democratic Activists." I'm being told that Hillary Clinton was caught on tape disparaging Barack Obama because he's being supported by MoveOn, and that they opposed military action in Afghanistan.

I've tried to stay out of the pie fights of late, but as a long-term defender of MoveOn and other progressive organizations -- this is completely unacceptable.

I defended Hillary Clinton when she refused to bow to right wing pressure and condemn MoveOn over the "General Betrayus" ad (and was sad when she finally capitulated). MoveOn are valuable progressive partners, who have been with us on Donna Edwards, net neutrality, trying to bring an end to the war, FISA and other issues we've been fighting for.

I expect it's a $4!7-storm when my friends call me on my cell phone to breathlessly declare that I have to break my media blackout for a headline on HuffPo.

From what I can find on Kos, the real issue here (if it can be corroborated) is the fact that HRC would accuse MoveOn of being against military action in Afghanistan.

Let me provide some context:

Karl Rove accused MoveOn of being against taking action in Afghanistan after 9/11. This was a mischaracterization of MoveOn's position, which Rove used to drum up fear of the Progressive activists on the grounds they'd let the terrorists take over the US. In fact, MoveOn advocated greater caution and better diplomacy, both in Afghanistan and in Iraq.

So if HRC really did say that MoveOn (an organization originally called Censure and Move On, formed to try and get the country past the impeachment trial of Bill Clinton and back on track with national issues that mattered) was against taking action in Afghanistan, the key take-away is:

She's parroting a Karl Rove talking point that helped defeat the Democrats in prior elections.

He should say these things staring straight into the camera for maximum effect.

What I hear McCain saying is that 1) he's going to tell everyone what he thinks (ok, fine), 2) he will try to persuade people who disagree with him (but what if he's wrong?), 3) he will fight for what HE believes is right (not represent what WE believe is right), and he 4) will not yield (which means he won't change his mind).

Ask yourself: Is this Republican the man you want in the White House in November?

I think that it is true that Hillary, Chelsea, and McCain are the true elitists.

But, scarier about McCain are the facts that:
1. He backed down from Bush in 2000. - Why?
2. He did NOT support Max Cleleand, a true Vietnam War Hero.- Why?
3. He did NOT support John Kerry, a Vietnam War Hero, when Kerry was attacked by the "Swift Boat" Clowns. - Why?
4. He has become a "Bush Clone," the servant of the Bush Machine. - Why?

I believe that Rove and Cheney got the "goods" on McCain in 2000.
I believe that Rove and Cheney had proof of McCain's "Affair" with the infamous Lobbyist that the New York Times just exposed, AGAIN!

I think McCain divorced is first wife to marry a very Wealthy Woman so he could continue his Political Ambitions and that the subsequent "Affair" almost killed her.

I did not see the story but some bloggers here said MSNBC ran a peice earlier about what pests (and often rude pests) Obama supporters are being toward the supers. Probably no more than her supporters but I would recommend staying professional and positive.

The Huffington Post headline reads "Hillary Slams Democratic Activists." I'm being told that Hillary Clinton was caught on tape disparaging Barack Obama because he's being supported by MoveOn, and that they opposed military action in Afghanistan.

I've tried to stay out of the pie fights of late, but as a long-term defender of MoveOn and other progressive organizations -- this is completely unacceptable.

I defended Hillary Clinton when she refused to bow to right wing pressure and condemn MoveOn over the "General Betrayus" ad (and was sad when she finally capitulated). MoveOn are valuable progressive partners, who have been with us on Donna Edwards, net neutrality, trying to bring an end to the war, FISA and other issues we've been fighting for.

They've accepted the challenge of organizing the left in the virtual arena and done an amazing job that the right struggles to replicate. They now have 3 million members, of which I'm one. And their skill at online organization and movement building has developed a model that both of the Democratic candidates have been able to replicate and learn from, acting as a democratizing influence and making candidates more responsive to the public at large and less to high dollar donors.

MoveOn didn't oppose military action in Afghanistan but I did. Not because I thought it was the wrong thing to do but because I was quite certain George Bush would bungle it and we'd just wind up spending billions on a bunch of junk that would make his buddies rich and a lot of poor people in the poorest country in the world would die senselessly. And I was right.

Does Hillary Clinton not want my vote either?

Please don't holler at me for this, however;

I wish those with fundraising pages would try get donations outside the blogs right now.

The campaign is trying to reach 1.5 million donors by May 6th. Us donating to others within the camapign already does not bring in new donors, we need to go outside to friends, family, co workers, neghbors, etc.

I love that folks have fundraising pages and are enthused about them....but going outside would help the camapign reach its new goal.

Yes, thanks! I'm glad. I think the Hillary visits to the talk/tabloid shows helped her at the 11th hour last time. I'm hoping this will help our guy too.
My theory is that anyone who is STILL undecided is not the most informed or the sharpest knife in the drawer so to speak. So they are more apt to tune into late-night T.V. and E.T. Tonight type of shows than News/Information programming. So these shows may end up helping shape their opinion.

Help please - probably from a PA supporter.
When I was calling PA last night, I spoke to a Voter who was not sure where his polling station was. I promised to call him back with the information, got his address but I closed the screen too quickly and lost his phone number. I've tried 411.com and whitepages.com, but they all require last name - which I don't have. Can anyone help? I don't want to put his full address here. I am sure the campaign is using the same software all over the country. They can type in an address and figure out who the person is. I suggest you contact your nearest campaign office.

Hillary Clinton Attacks MoveOn

The Huffington Post headline reads "Hillary Slams Democratic Activists." I'm being told that Hillary Clinton was caught on tape disparaging Barack Obama because he's being supported by MoveOn, and that they opposed military action in Afghanistan.

I've tried to stay out of the pie fights of late, but as a long-term defender of MoveOn and other progressive organizations -- this is completely unacceptable.

I defended Hillary Clinton when she refused to bow to right wing pressure and condemn MoveOn over the "General Betrayus" ad (and was sad when she finally capitulated). MoveOn are valuable progressive partners, who have been with us on Donna Edwards, net neutrality, trying to bring an end to the war, FISA and other issues we've been fighting for.

They've accepted the challenge of organizing the left in the virtual arena and done an amazing job that the right struggles to replicate. They now have 3 million members, of which I'm one. And their skill at online organization and movement building has developed a model that both of the Democratic candidates have been able to replicate and learn from, acting as a democratizing influence and making candidates more responsive to the public at large and less to high dollar donors.

MoveOn didn't oppose military action in Afghanistan but I did. Not because I thought it was the wrong thing to do but because I was quite certain George Bush would bungle it and we'd just wind up spending billions on a bunch of junk that would make his buddies rich and a lot of poor people in the poorest country in the world would die senselessly. And I was right.

Does Hillary Clinton not want my vote either?

A fellow blogger posted this a few blogs up asking for help to locate a potential voter she lost contact with. So far there hasn't been any response so far; Please help if you can. one by one we can do this!

"When I was calling PA last night, I spoke to a Voter who was not sure where his polling station was. I promised to call him back with the information, got his address but I closed the screen too quickly and lost his phone number. I've tried 411.com and whitepages.com, but they all require last name - which I don't have. Can anyone help? I don't want to put his full address here. It's just a small glimpse, I think, of the level of heat the media is going to take in the general election, and John McCain doesn't seem to have any equivalent.

Going into November we have an ENORMOUS opportunity to set the tone of this election. More and more sites are linking to left leaning blogs like Talking Points Memo, Glenn Greenwald, and yes, The Great Orange Satan itself, Daily Kos. The combination of a charismatic candidate like Barack Obama and a FIRED UP base could completely shut McCain out in November. He doesn't inspire the Republican base, they are just settling for him. These are heady, exciting times indeed!

ABC is now the laughing stock of the world, anyone with internet access can see the video of Stephanopoulos saying we need to "focus on the future, and not pay attention to ATTACKS ON CHARACTER" when he was an employee of Clinton. Which is exactly what Obama was saying in the debate and was immediately and continuously attacked for. Anyone can go online and hear the audio of Stephanopoulos asking a FOX NEWS employee for attacking-points on Obama and saying he's "taking notes..." You would be willfully ignorant to ignore or downplay these as meaningless. All you can do is delete comments here on your own site and pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. You filter comments out also, not just deleting old comments but now actively blocking comments deemed unworthy by the media elite. While making sure there's a "Good job ABC!" post or two at the top of the comments. Of course you don't block all of them just a whole bunch so the real situation isn't so painfully obvious to casual observers. Well good luck controlling the rest of the internet and public opinion.

I'm going to post this once on every new thread. Will someone (nicely) tell me if that is poor blog etiquette. I don't want to be accused of spamming! I know that as people come on the blogs, they usually go to the newest thread first. So...

Helen G. has been working with my little grassroots group here in Studio City, CA.
(Go postcard ladies!) She has taken time off from her "real life" to
go and campaign for Barack in PA for several days. I asked her to send us messages
when she could about her experiences there. Here's her first post.

Helen writes:

Travel was smooth and we are here in the City of Brotherly Love. Looks like Barack
weathered the absurd debate last night. Howard Fineman said on Countdown that he
thinks what will resonate with people (including super delegates) is the fact that
last night was the same old crap and everyone is tired of it and ready for change
- which is precisely what Barack has been saying! I hope he's right.

The guy who checked us into the hotel saw my Obama button and was thrilled. We told
him we were here to work for him. The guy was young, black and very enthusiastic
about Barack. Here was a young guy engaged in the political process for the first
time in his life. Reminded me of myself in the 60s. Let's hope he doesn't
end up disillusioned for so many years like I was.

Helen's 2nd post is about tonight's rally.

She writes:

We are waiting to go through security at Independence Mall. It is HOT. Barack is speaking at a rally here tonight. Did we get lucky or what!!? We are at the front of the line so have the longest wait but the best spot in front of the podium.. Notice I didn't say seat because it is standing room only. It is 4, the line moves at 6 and Barack speaks at 8.

This morning we spent 4 hours at a Wal-Mart in NE Philly signing up volunteers and handing out flyers. I'll write more detail later about some of the people with whom I spoke. All I can say is that I'm glad to be where I am.

Lisa, when I volunteered in Iowa, they asked all of us NOT to blog while we were there. Not about anything. Their point was that we might share something that seemed unimportant to us, but that could hurt the campaign.

So I would recommend not posting the information you get from your friend. My two cents.

When my husband and I checked into the hotel in Philly last weekend, the staff were very excited about our buttons and t-shirts as well. We had extra buttons so I gave it to one of the young men who inquired about it.

My husband deicided to the car and one of the guys at the car wash asked if we had extra buttons, we gladly gave it to him along with an Obama sign. He put the sign on the wall of their shop. I was so excited!!

While driving through Philly I noticed there were super huge posters of Obama at the bus stops, so my husband and I got out and started taking pictures. As we continued to drive there were nay others to follow. I am sure Hillary does not appreciate seeing his picture everywhere. Oh well she will get over it LOL.

1. He backed down from Bush in 2000. - Why?

At a small closed-door fundraiser after Super Tuesday, Sen. Hillary Clinton blamed what she called the "activist base" of the Democratic Party -- and MoveOn.org in particular -- for many of her electoral defeats, saying activists had "flooded" state caucuses and "intimidated" her supporters, according to an audio recording of the event obtained by The Huffington Post.
"Moveon.org endorsed [Sen. Barack Obama] -- which is like a gusher of money that never seems to slow down," Clinton said to a meeting of donors. "We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and It's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."

MoveOn never opposed the war in Afghanistan, and we set the record straight years ago when Karl Rove made the same claim. Senator Clinton's attack on our members is divisive at a time when Democrats will soon need to unify to beat Senator McCain. MoveOn is 3.2 million reliable voters and volunteers who are an important part of any winning Democratic coalition in November. They deserve better than to be dismissed using Republican talking points."

ABC is now the laughing stock of the world, anyone with internet access can see the video of Stephanopoulos saying we need to "focus on the future, and not pay attention to ATTACKS ON CHARACTER" when he was an employee of Clinton. Which is exactly what Obama was saying in the debate and was immediately and continuously attacked for. Anyone can go online and hear the audio of Stephanopoulos asking a FOX NEWS employee for attacking-points on Obama and saying he's "taking notes..." You would be willfully ignorant to ignore or downplay these as meaningless. All you can do is delete comments here on your own site and pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. You filter comments out also, not just deleting old comments but now actively blocking comments deemed unworthy by the media elite.

I think he's got a thing going against Keith Olbermann (since MSNBC's been pushing Olbermann over Matthews).

Anyhow, his loss -- I was just starting to watch his show (which is kinda tabloid cheap, if you know what I mean), and have since given it up. He's not going to be getting Clinton or McCain viewers much on his show, so it really is, quite literally, his loss.

In his defense, Hardball College Tour with CM was pretty decent.

By the way, a little while from now is the part where all the news shows start fall in love with Obama, well, because they're going to see him as the Last Man Standing. Meaning: they want time with him.

I'm listening to Rachel Maddow right now talking about the flag pin question on the ABC debacle debate. The questioner, Nash McCabe, is a person who previously quoted by NYTimes saying "How can I vote for somebody who doesn't want to wear a flag pin?". Now, before anybody judge this poor Nash McCabe person, her family & her husband has been thru a whoole lot, her husband suffered a brain tumor & it took them 18 months to get healthcare coverage. Rachel & her Philly journalist were talking about the irony, how this person is EXACTLY what Senator Obama talked about small town bitter person who's frustrated & bitter about healthcare situation, but expressed it in a form of having a problem with NOT WEARING A FLAG PIN!

The fact that ABC applied such a shady journalism practice in order to get ratings is BEYOND SHAMFUL & DISGUSTING. They're part of the status quo who rather have everything working the same as it is working right now. MSM is apart of the "NEED TO BE CHANGED" list.

It was such a insightful discussion & affirms my belief that we NEED Senator Obama more than ever.

I think we found out that we can make a difference. We need to spend a few minutes letting the media know that they cant just shove propaganda at us.

The media allowed America to be lied into war. They did it for ratings. Fact. We have to write and keep telling them when we are sick of being manipulated.

He's the President of the DLC. He might as well be a Republican. They supported the War in Iraq more than a lot of moderate Republicans. They basically stand for throwing the ideals of the Democratic Party out the window in order to get elected.

Harold Ford and Barack are friends. I think Barack campaigned for Ford when Ford was running for the Senate in 2006.

I always got the impression that Ford was pro Obama. Remember, he's the one who said whoever wins NC will be the Dem. nominee, and Barack is heavily favored to win.

I certainly wouldn't say Ford is a Clinton supporter. He's always seen like a decent person to me.

He announces latest Newsweek poll showing Barack Obama leading Hillary Clinton by 19 points and PA poll showing Barack Obama in a tight race of 6% down from 22% a month ago. So he tries to get his cadre of butt kissers to put this into denial and support his contention that she will win BIG in PA and still can win the nomination.

All MSNBC talking heads per the management's direction are repeating that Obama had a 'hard week'. Unbelievably they use their paid puppets to say that the undebate on ABC was 'fair'.

I know it took courage to endorse Barack Obama so I wanted to take the time to say thank you. I use to be a Hillary Clinton's supporter until January 2008 when they try to paint Barack Obama as the black candidate. Since I have switched to Barack I donate and work hard for his campaign something that I didn't do as a Hillary Clinton's supporter. I am so glad I changed to Barack and voted for him during our primary. I am also glad that I made the right decision and not look at the Clinton's brand which has been badly tarnished. I am not here to tear Hillary down because she is doing a great job self-destructing.

Again, thanks for the endorsement because you did endorse the right person for President.

I don't know. I thought he was tame today. Actually, MSNBC isn't all that bad. I do not like Joe S. or his male side kick. I like Mika a little. I don't like Andrea Mitchell. She literally only covers tabloid stories and she's dry. What I don't like is that fact that the media is using the Clinton talking points.

I followed Harold F's campaign here in Memphis and thought he got a raw deal from his opponent with that hooker ad. And I'm glad he's found a spot on these shows and generally he tries to take some kind of high road for both candidates. But, I feel sometimes his comments so diplomatic and sugared they seem to have no real opinion or inisght in them.

But I also think some of us are so impassioned with this campaign that we immediately want to slam or fire off emails to everyone who takes a stance for Clinton or has the nerve to voice an opinion that maybe Obama did have a bad night or something.

There is true bias out there against us. We know that but let's focus on those folks and not lump everyone into the same category. Some of these guys/gals go back and forth with the flow and we have to thicken our skins some.

Let's pick our battles wisely and with wisdom, not emotion.

"intimidate" is very much the wrong word. "Vastly outnumber" would be much more accurate, as in "Those democratic activists come the these caucuses and they vastly outnumber my supporters."

I think this is what resonates with young voters, because that ability to make wry, indirect, playful references to popular culture is something that many in the last couple of generations have grown up with, and see as a regular part of their culture...
Signifyin', on the other hand, is playful, wry, humorous, is meant to link the listener to a much more open-ended range of cultural references. ... This is an old saying from past generations. It means, when you have negative forces attacking you, you pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep moving.

WASHINGTON (AFP) — Barack Obama moved a step closer to rival Hillary Clinton in their race for superdelegates Friday, as two senior figures in the Democratic party endorsed his candidacy for the White House.

The Obama campaign announced that former senators Sam Nunn and David Boren, both of them superdelegates, the party luminaries who will decide the Democratic nominee in November's election, were coming on board as advisors.

Robert Reich, who served as secretary of labor under former president Bill Clinton and is a long-term friend of the Clinton family, also announced Friday he would be supporting Obama's bid for the White House.

Despite her campaign's relentless attacks on Barack Obama's qualifications and electability, Hillary Clinton has lost a lot of ground with Democratic voters nationwide going into Tuesday's critical primary in Pennsylvania, a new NEWSWEEK poll shows.

The survey of 1,209 registered voters found that Obama now leads Clinton by nearly 20 points, or 54 percent to 35 percent, among registered Democrats and those who lean Democratic nationwide. The previous Newsweek poll, conducted in March after Clinton's big primary wins in Ohio and Texas, showed the two Democrats locked in a statistical tie (45 percent for Obama to 44 percent for Clinton). The new poll puts Obama ahead among women as well as men, and voters aged 60 and older as well as younger voters. (For the complete poll data, click here).

One of the more devastating results for Clinton was that a majority of all registered voters now see her as dishonest and untrustworthy. According to the poll, just four in 10 (41 percent) registered voters view the New York senator as honest and trustworthy, while 51 percent think the opposite. This compares with solid majorities of voters who see Obama and McCain as honest and trustworthy (both polled 61 percent).

It is sad to see Sen. Clinton in desperation mode. She is embarassing herself as is her husband. The whole Move-on Org. thing is amazing. She is at a fundraiser trying to get monies and probably needs to explain the problem she is having is some manner....this is yet another attempt to explain why she is having a difficult time. They must be in very financial straights....Move-on pushed back on her lies. The politics of the past just do not understand Obama and his campaign. He is doing something different...the people are becoming involved and taking ownership of their country once again...and so...you hear people speaking up an out....you see people not sitting back and taking the negative comments anymore. Because the campaign is different and they do not get it...they have to explain it some how....Obama is weak he does not go negative directly at her and so on....time are different...Obama is a brilliant, thoughtful thinking, all inclusive kind of man...not normal in the politics of old...so we have what we see right now going on....CHANGE is not easy.....it is uncomfortable for many and I think this is what we are seeing play out... it just will take time. I've been a proud member of MoveOn since the '04 election. I don't agree with 100% of everything they put out, but come on! Finally a progressive organization with some clout to challenge the right wing and corporate special interest groups!

It is difficult to resist a wry smile at what the ABC tried to do in the Philadelphia debate. A lot of expectation and emotional energy on this side was invested in the event, which means we risk suffering an equal measure of disappointment if we fail to recognise the opportunity we gained.

As you could see - there was no debate. Simply a clumsy attempt at a premeditated media ambush. Sorry about mentioning "the bush word". Fortunately the ABC ploy backfired. In fact we should thank them, it allowed their target Senator Barack Obama to win an important moral victory without having to spend one advertising dollar.

Unfortunately as Barack clearly understood, it was the voters who were again denied. A serious debate is supposed to allow people to compare the attitudes and policy positions of the respective candidates. And hell will freeze over before the Clinton connections in the US media will allow that.

Solution: More quality Radio and TV advertising funded by increased fund raising. In the present environment, that is the only sure way to get Barack's unpolluted message to the people of America. Wednesday was only a dress rehearsal for what is to come. Once more up to the breach dear friends! Go Obama .. Come November .. Yes we can.

Earlier this afternoon someone posted a link where people could write in 100 words or less their reasons for why they support Obama/Clinton. I submitted mine to the paper, but now I can't find the post so I could get the link again. I can't find it on the Pittsburgh Post Gazette website.

Here is what I wrote:
I support Barack Obama because he has all the characteristics of a great leader –intelligence, the ability to generate enthusiasm, and an outstanding ability to communicate his vision. But more importantly, his work and life experiences provide him with unique qualifications. The years he voluntarily spent as a community organizer speak loudly about his passion to serve the greater good. His compelling life story has given him a keen understanding of different cultures and combined with his calm, diplomatic nature, he will be a powerful asset in bringing about peace and stability in the world.

Judicial Watch Calls on FEC to Investigate Elton John’s Fundraising Concert on Behalf of Hillary Clinton’s Presidential Campaign

“Sir Elton John is not a citizen of the United States and is therefore prohibited from making any contribution to Senator Clinton’s presidential campaign.”

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it filed a formal complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) related to a fundraising concert by musician Sir Elton John on behalf of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Elton John, a foreign national, is prohibited by federal law from making any contribution to a federal, state or local election campaign.

“Recent news reports suggest that Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton for President have accepted an in-kind contribution from a foreign national, Sir Elton John, in contravention of federal electon laws,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton stated in an April 14 letter to the Office of the General Counsel for the FEC. “On behalf of Judicial Watch and its supporters, I hereby request that the FEC investigate this matter.”

According to a press release issued by the Clinton campaign, the expressed intent of the concert was to raise funds for Hillary’s campaign for president. In the release, Elton John is quoted as saying, “I'm excited to support Hillary by performing at what will be a truly memorable night.”

Press reports also show that Sir Elton John, on March 17, 2008, through the Clinton campaign, sent out a mass email announcing the concert and soliciting support. The Elton John concert took place on April 9, 2008 and raised more than $2.5 million (from the sale of 5,000 tickets) for Hillary Clinton and Hillary Clinton for President.

According to 2 U.S.C. § 441e, “Contributions and donations by foreign nationals,” it is illegal for any foreign national to “make a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value…in connection with a Federal, State or local election.” The Washington Times reported March 27, 2008, that a “1981 FEC decision prohibited a foreign national artist from donating his services in connection with fundraising for a U.S. Senate campaign.”

“It looks as if Elton John, a foreign national, gave a valuable, in-kind contribution to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, which is prohibited by law. The FEC and other authorities need to take appropriate action and investigate Hillary Clinton, her campaign, and Elton John,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

PHILADELPHIA -- Slow R&B music played as the after-work crowd trickled into Warmdaddy's, a South Philadelphia restaurant and jazz club where the hostess wears a square button with Sen. Barack Obama's smiling face and two Obama '08 placards hang from the window.

Support for the senator from Illinois may be in doubt in other parts of Pennsylvania, but Warmdaddy's is a stronghold for Obama supporters in a city he is expected to win in Tuesday's Democratic primary. And in recent weeks, as Sen. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) has pushed the notion that Obama is "out of touch" with working-class voters, the goodwill the restaurant's African American clientele had for her has dropped sharply.

Prominent Journalists Slam ABC Debate Tactics

In an open letter to ABC, journalists and media analysts condemn the network's poor handling of the April 16 Democratic presidential debate.

We, the undersigned, deplore the conduct of ABC's George Stephanopoulos and Charles Gibson at the Democratic Presidential debate on April 16. The debate was a revolting descent into tabloid journalism and a gross disservice to Americans concerned about the great issues facing the nation and the world. This is not the first Democratic or Republican presidential debate to emphasize gotcha questions over real discussion. However, it is, so far, the worst.

For 53 minutes, we heard no question about public policy from either moderator. ABC seemed less interested in provoking serious discussion than in trying to generate cheap shot sound-bites for later rebroadcast. The questions asked by Mr. Stephanopoulos and Mr. Gibson were a disgrace, and the subsequent attempts to justify them by claiming that they reflect citizens' interest are an insult to the intelligence of those citizens and ABC's viewers. Many thousands of those viewers have already written to ABC to express their outrage.
The moderators' occasional later forays into substance were nearly as bad. Mr. Gibson's claim that the government can raise revenues by cutting capital gains tax is grossly at odds with what taxation experts believe.
We're at a crucial moment in our country's history, facing war, a terrorism threat, recession, and a range of big domestic challenges. Large majorities of our fellow Americans tell pollsters they're deeply worried about the country's direction. In such a context, journalists moderating a debate--who are, after all, entrusted with free public airwaves--have a particular responsibility to push and engage the candidates in serious debate about these matters. Tough, probing questions on these issues clearly serve the public interest. This applies to candidates of both parties.
Neither Mr. Gibson nor Mr. Stephanopoulos lived up to these responsibilities. In the words of Tom Shales of the Washington Post, Mr. Gibson and Mr. Stephanopoulos turned in "shoddy, despicable performances." As Greg Mitchell of Editor and Publisher describes it, the debate was a "travesty." We hope that the public uproar over ABC's miserable showing will encourage a return to serious journalism in debates between the Democratic and Republican nominees this fall. Anything less would be a betrayal of the basic responsibilities that journalists owe to their public.

Amazing day in Williamsport | Report to Admin

This was an amazing event for Williamsport! We almost never get visits from presidential candidates, and what a visit this was! Senator Obama spoke for about 30 minutes and then asked for questions--not the planted sort of other campaigns, but from people he chose, as he said, "boy-girl-boy-girl to be fair."

While the pundits continue to harp on how Obama's "bitter" statement will hurt him in places like Williamsport, one woman told it like it is in the preface to her question. She said (and I hope I get this mostly right): "I'm a Christian, my husband's a Christian and a sportsman. We own guns. And I want to tell you that we're not bitter about your statements. We are bitter about how your opponents have used them against you to distract us from real issues."

Obama volunteers were totally energized by the event. Tired as we were, we came back to campaign headquarters and started making phone calls to undecided voters and confirming volunteers for Saturday's canvassing.

When I got home at 11, I saw my friend Smitty (Irv Smith) from Tioga County being interviewed on the news. Smitty is a veteran and a retired union guy who is passionate about letting politicians know what he thinks. He said that just a few months ago he was for Hillary, but after hearing more from Obama he switched, because he's the one who can really bring the change that's needed in our country. I'm pretty sure Smitty will be spending the next four days telling every Democrat in Tioga County who to vote for on Tuesday.

What really struck me about today's event was the crowd, people of all ages and backgrounds having a great time standing in line talking to strangers, who quickly became new friends, in a region where the politicos and pundits seem to think all of us are rugged individualists who don't want much to do with anyone not "like us."

But this gathering was a vision of what north central PA's future can be. We have just four days to work on electing a president who will help us get there.
