Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the April 2nd *midday* news content!
For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.
I run a blog that compiles pretty much every major news article and commentary that comes out each day about Senator Obama. My hope is that it's a useful tool for those who want to keep up with everything going on in the campaign. I also contribute my own commentary as well.
I hope this is helpful to everyone.

.... Listen to what you are saying:
** I can barely write because my heart is full, my tears free flowing, and the very depth of my soul is touched! What an awesome piece..both the written word and the media expression. It needs to play in Denver at the Democratic National Convention. I will replay it many times and share it with as many others. Thank you for your tremendous contribution to this cause! Posted by Robbie of Maryland | February 17, 2008, 5:02pm
** Thank YOU so very much John! Brief but yet so brilliant… a must see for everyone! I have goosebumps on the top of my head… and shivers like never before at the mere thought of a wonderful future for Americans alike and the world will be watching a transformation like never seen before! Posted by Shirley Hussein | March 16, 2008, 3:12 pm
** This is the most inspiring piece on Senator Obama I have seen! It is so amazing to realize how many people outside America are watching this process and agree with us regarding Senator Obama’s character and intelligence. I had truly given up and along comes Senator Obama! Thank you again, sir, for putting your beautiful words with this powerful video. Posted by Maxine | March 28, 2008, 8:07 pm

To all Democrats, Independents, Undecided, Republicans, and former supporters of other candidates:
Welcome one, welcome all
Listen up and heed the call
Our time is now, join in the fun
This campaign is indeed for everyone
You may hesitate, you may even be shy
You might even be tempted to tell a white lie
But one thing we know for certain to be true
This election is all about me and you
Remember now, all this noise will be soon pass
All the confusion and bother, it will not last
We all want to be content in this beautiful land
Let's do this together, oh YES, WE CAN!
ONE LOVE, y'all!
Never give up, never give in
Keep the faith, keep HOPE alive!

Obama/Gore?
Only if Al grows his beard back.
I know there's wisdom in having someone from the old Democratic guard on board, but Gore has already been VP once, and would be a fine could probably do better as a UN ambassodor or Energy Secretary (which would totally freak out the entire American energy industry).
Other running mate ideas?
Edwards? Always the bridesmaid, never the bride
Richardson? Black and Brown take it all the way to town!
What about Joe Biden?
Other ideas? What do y'all think?

But Obama Wednesday won backing from Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal -- one of the nearly 800 superdelegates, who are free to vote for either candidate -- and from Lee Hamilton, a respected foreign policy sage in the party.
Freudenthal became the 65th superdelegate to endorse Obama since the nationwide nominating clashes of "Super Tuesday" on February 5, while more than 300 others have yet to declare a preference.

High Stakes for Clinton in March Contests
Susan Davis reports on the presidential race.
The March 4 nominating contests in four states — particularly the primaries in Ohio and Texas –are taking on increased importance for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Clinton aides sought to shrug off rival Sen. Barack Obama’s Tuesday sweep in the “Potomac Primary” saying his victories were anticipated and that Clinton will rebound with strong numbers on March 4.
“We expect change to begin March 4,” senior strategist Mark Penn told reporters this afternoon on a conference call. There are nearly 500 delegates at stake that day and Clinton’s campaign is already predicted that the races will tighten the margin between the two candidates to “within 25 delegates” when the polls close, said national field director Guy Cecil. “We expect we will be in a virtual tie with Sen. Obama,” he said. The campaign’s projections include superdelegates.

Can I remind everyone for a moment to be very kind to one another? There has been a lot of recent tension, not only on the board, but also amongst supporters. This all is detractive from the very reason we are here.
I know it's hard because a million people will never just simply get along. We can try. We can be great people. We can deal with issues maturely and challenge ourselves to be more civil to one another, much as Barack advocates in his "civility" portion of The Audacity of Hope.
We do NOT have to all get along on every issue to work together for the same political goal of putting Barack Obama in the White House. But also, we don't have to air our grievances privately (or publically per se) to one another. And that's been happening. Not just to me, but to other important, strong, vital voices on this board.
We should all be extremely proud to be able to advance Barack Obama's campaign PARTICULARLY because it creates a common purpose for us to focus on.
Never let your eye off the ball.
There is no need for sharp words or interpersonal conflict right now. Just breathe. The protracted season has been hard, and there is a lot of fear about where we are headed. But we KNOW the truth. We WILL win. We WILL do this by working together. We are a formidable team, and need to recognize each other for being so incredible. When we need each other, and stuff to get done, it gets done.
And no one pays us, like the bloggers and staffers for HRC's board. No one guides us. We are Democracy in Action. Sometimes things get unclear or even rocky, however, remember, that's part of any society and the healthy thing is to remember to not personalize any of it.
Especially with the media and other campaigns fear-mongering us so badly! Trying to divide us or make us doubt one another.
We are a movement and a force to be reckoned with.
Think of the incredible accomplishments we have made and the odds we have overcome!
Embrace our differences and find strength in them.
Peace to all here and much gratitude!

I missed whatever happened but I'm glad it it helped, lol... what a tough road this has been for all of us.
John McCain can talk about being a P.O.W. but in a sense, I think for a lot of us first-time campaigners, we feel a bit like we've been subjected to some serious stress as well.
And it's so exciting as we get closer to being the nominee, yet we still don't have the official word. It's this strange position. The HRC campaign saying they're within points of us, the media splitting the narrative depending on which station you're on, the Obama campaign agreeing with the bulk of the blogosphere that we're very much in the lead.
It's enough to drive anyone a bit batty.
We all need some closure.
So here's some closure:
We will win this race, BUT we must continue to work like we're 20 points down and remember to be good to one another, treat each other with peace and respect, and keep to our common purpose!
((hugs))

We will win I agree, in the interim as long as it isnt turning into throwing things time Im ok with Senator Clinton staying in.
I have sugggested in many ways (as long as civil) it may not only make for a stronger candidate it gives him (forces even) him to connect with the voters. When he does that he wins. He wins over people and more importantly than now it will hold in good steed come Nov.
IT appears that the campaign has been a little more on issues and less on name calling lately. Perhaps is is being away or maybe her kitchen ran dry and there isnt much else left to throw.
Being civil respectful is good on the campaign trail and good on the blog as well

Besides the great views , great wine in Italy at the moment, it is very interesting to talk to them about this upcoming election.
It seems most follow very closely but more importantly they key for them is to be sure a democrat wins. Most are pro Obama but some like Senator Clinton. The race is keenly watched however and people are anxious to see how it turns out.
The latest poll seems to have him creeping closer. I love how when people see him talk to him they just seem to really like him. Bodes well for the future.

Reposting from earlier today because I think this is a great way to help in upcomming states!
If you are in PA or any other upcoming state here is a suggestion. If you don't have time to volunteer or maybe you are phone shy here is something ANYONE can do.
Stop by your local OBAMA 08 office and drop off some goods such as a case of bottled water, some homemade cookies, make a casserole, anything edible is nice. Maybe even a few lattes.LOL
Many of the volunteers are young, poor college kids or people who have traveled long distances to help out. They really appreciate any this kind of donation.
I did this when the IA offices were here (just across the bridge from me in IL). The kids loved getting homemade treats. They really are working TONS of hours many of them more than 16 hours a day and don't take the time to eat.
So if you are in an upcomming state give this idea a thought!

VP...Sebelius? |

By
Marcus @ SDSU
Apr 2nd 2008 at 5:42 pm EDT
Ok, I know someone always brings it up every now and then, but just for fun, lets say Barack Obama does win the nomination and has to select a candidate for VP...
Going through the quick list, many have come up with:
Gov. Janet Napolitano
Sen. Claire McClaskill
Sen. Jim Webb
Mayor Bloomberg
Sen. Hagel
Gov. Mark Warner
Gov. Richardson
Sen. Feingold
Sen. Casey
Gov. Sebelius
..Al Gore??
I know I'm missing a few, but in my personal favorite, and the one that i'm most excited about is Gov. Sebelius... Think about it....
1.She'd be the first woman vice presidential candidate w/ an actual shot at winning which would attract those Hillary supporters that wanted a female president and would be absolutely historic w/ the first African American and First Woman running.
2.being born in 1948, she helps bridge the possible generational gap w/ older voters
3.She has Executive experience which includes:
-state legislature from 1986-1994
-Elected State Insurance Commissioner.
(And get this little snippet from wikidedia): "She is credited with bringing the agency out from under the influence of the insurance industry. She refused to take campaign contributions from insurers and blocked the proposed merger of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, the state's largest health insurer, with an Indiana-based company. The decision by Sebelius marked the first time the corporation had been rebuffed in its acquisition attempts."
-Governor of Kansas since 2002 (another Wikipedia snippet: "In November 2005 Time named Sebelius as one of the five best governors in America, praising her for eliminating a $1.1 billion debt she inherited, ferreting out waste in state government, and strongly supporting public education — all without raising taxes. Also praised was her bipartisan approach to governing, a useful trait in a state where Republicans have usually controlled the Legislature."
4.She can be one of the best VP candidates that can help Obama win red states across the country.
-She was raised and her father was the governor of Ohio, so she definitely has ties and can effectively connect w/ voters in Ohio, giving us even more of an advantage against McCain.
-Since she's a popular governor, Kansas would go from a reliable red state to Obama, and she could also help in other midwestern states that normally go Republican.
I'm excited about this woman, I REALLY hope Obama picks her...What does everyone else think???

Richardson. The latino vote. He is likeable, has the common touch and is very experienced. It will be a uniting of black and brown and white. The first AA president, the first latino vice president, and they are both mixed. It is perfect symbolically. Great for the country. For unity, and healing.

Think of the Latinos Richardson will draw in, and Richardson has lots of foreign policy experience to add to the campaign, he is a little older, is a Western guy, so that would also bring some geographical balance. Richardson is well-spoken--- and not only that is bilingual!! I'm still thinking it over but I think he is a super-strong choice.

It's official:
Obama picked up another superdelegate, continuing the slow drip in his direction. (He has picked up 12 since March 4th to Clinton's one.)
The latest is former Sen. John Melcher, of Montana. "Melcher says he chose Obama because he believes the Illinois senator has been against the Iraq war since the start," the AP reports.
Melcher served in the U.S. Senate from 1977 to 1989 and is a superdelegate to the national convention based on his role with the National Democratic Seniors Coordinating Committee.

one of the best VP candidates
Bill Richardson as a congressman
Richardson spent a little more than 14 years in Congress. As a congressman, he kept his interest in foreign relations. He visited Nicaragua, Guatemala, Cuba, Peru, India, North Korea, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Sudan to represent U.S. interests.
Richardson served as Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in the 98th Congress (1983–1985) and as Chairman of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Native American Affairs in the 103rd Congress (1993–1994). While in the House, Richardson sponsored bills such as the Indian Tribal Justice Act, the American Indian Religious Freedom Act Amendments, the American Indian Trust Fund Management Reform Act, the American Indian Agricultural Resource Management Act, the Indian Dams Safety Act, the Tribal Self-Governance Act, the Indian Tribal Jurisdiction Bill (commonly known as the “Duro Fix”) and the Jicarilla Apache Tribe Water Rights Settlement Act.
In 1996, he traveled to Baghdad with Peter Bourne and engaged in lengthy one-on-one negotiations with Saddam Hussein to secure the release of two American aerospace workers who had been captured by the Iraqis after wandering over the Kuwaiti border. He became a member of the Democratic leadership, where he worked closely with Bill Clinton on several issues.
[edit] U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations
ambassador to the UN. Richardson served there until 1998, when he was appointed U.S. Secretary of Energy, a post that he held for the remainder of the Clinton administration. According to his autobiography, Richardson was asked by the White House in 1997 to interview Monica Lewinsky for a job on his staff at the UN. Richardson did so, and offered her a position, which she declined.[8]
Richardson as Secretary of Energy
The Senate confirmed Richardson to be Clinton's Secretary of Energy on July 31, 1998. His tenure at the Department of Energy was marred by the Wen Ho Lee nuclear espionage scandal.
Richardson created the Director for Native American Affairs position in the Department in 1998, and in January 2000 oversaw the largest return of federal lands, 84,000 acres (340 km²) to an Indian Tribe (the Northern Ute Tribe of Utah) in more than 100 years.[10] Richardson also directed the overhaul of the Department's consultation policy with Native American tribes and established the Tribal Energy Program.

"Where Obama really has the comparative advantage is his volunteers," said Michael McDonald, an expert on voter turnout at George Mason University. "When you look at McCain, one of his weaknesses is that he's not a candidate who is going to excite the Evangelical hard conservative base. He's not going to have the volunteers in place to do the same sort of mobilization efforts that an Obama would do."
The record turnout in many Democratic primaries suggests the same. Obama, for instance, received more votes in Virginia than the leading Republicans combined.

That's right, the fact he is an advocate for Native Americans specifically is another fantastic strength. That has never happened in a Presidential race before. It is awesome! Obama would be able to see more clearly the issues faced by that particular group, and be tuned in more closely to the First Nations. Something to really celebrate.

I walked the picket line, and was a picket captain. So bravo to the unions!
BTW, here's the text of a letter I sent to the Pocono Record about the primary in PA.
In less than three weeks, Democrats in Pennsylvanians get a chance to vote for the future or the past.
I have always voted, but never really participated in our political process. This time is different. I have been motivated to walk the streets of Des Moines and ask strangers to come to a caucus and support Senator Obama. I have knocked on doors in Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg. I have made phone calls to ask primary voters in other states to support Senator Obama. I have raised over $1,100.00 for the Senator’s campaign. I am also a delegate pledged to Senator Obama.
I urge all Pennsylvanians to try to see Senator Obama in person before they make up their minds. Hope is a powerful feeling, and I feel it now.

"Truckers Protest High Fuel Prices"
From the Associated Press, updated 7:51 PM ET, Tuesday 1 April 2008
TRENTON, N.J. - A convoy protesting high diesel prices pulled out of a truck stop south of Atlanta about 30 strong, and got a lot stronger.
By the time the truckers reached a section of Interstate 285 east of the city Tuesday morning, there were about three miles of tractor-trailers, headlights on, caution lights flashing, puttering along at about 20 mph.
“We picked up drivers all along the way,” said Danny Ashley, an independent driver who organized the protest. “A lot of drivers rode by and didn’t stop, but we got a lot of owner-operators who joined in.”

You know you have an Obama obsession problem when...
-When the first thing your 10 year old daughter tells you on April 1st is: "Daddy, did you hear? Hillary dropped out of the race."
-When your daughter complains you recorded over her only copy of 'Finding Nemo' on the TiVo with something called Keith Olbermann's 'Special Comments'.
-When your wife is suddenly wondering why are so eager to run to the store to pick up the dozen eggs she forgot, naively unaware there's a segment on Obama's Inner Circle coming on POTUS 08 on your XM radio.
-When you are listening to POTUS 08 on XM radio on the way home from the office, and say to yourself, "I'll just circle the block a few more times."
-When you find yourself automatically minimizing your open BarackObama.com windows and you run out of room for them on your dock. (Mac Users Only)
-Variation... when you have more than three or more web articles open on your desktop with polling information, Hillary misstatements or Barack youtubes.
-When you, as the average married hetero-male, think about Barack Obama more times any given day than Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Lucy Lui and Selma Hayek. Combined. (In no particular order).
-When while posting on cqpolitics you find yourself snapping at your employees when they interrupt you with trivial questions like, "Hey Man, did you know there's a plume of black smoke billowing out of the conference room?"
-When you find yourself asking, "What would Obama do?"

Come on, let's get these Superdelegates off the fence. If we've got to PUSH then we PUSH. I don't want our votes nullified by someone's "relationships" and "loyalty" with these Superdelegates at the convention. Here is a list of each state. Everybody drop down the list next to your state and it will show you who is already delegated and to whom. It will also show the names of those who aren't. Google and find an email address of those and SEND THEM A MESSAGE. Let's give them the push they seem reluctant to take on their own. Let's really make a difference. Last night, I googled Teamsters, unions, Pennsylvania, and spent 2 hours emailing all I the unions I could find. I sent the the Clinton NAFTA tape and told them to support Barack. It takes time but we can do it. If I couldn't find a person I just emailed it to the state party asking them to relay it to the Superdelegate. Just PICK A STATE or two. If some of them get doubled them that's great as long as we hit them all. I'll start off with ALABAMA.

ps --
I have been in an email exchange with an almost immovable HC superDelegate. After 4 days and 8 or nine exchanges, he finally stopped being cocky; but he never answered my questions about how (much more) important honesty, vision and change were over lies, showmanship, and the same ol' status quo. Also got the impression he wanted to go to the convention in one piece, and the state party folks who had elected him (not the people) were probably still backing HC. - but that might be reading too much into his non-answers.
[I also found it odd that he cited the Athenian democracy and (Irish/English) Edmond Burke as his political heroes. Couldn't resist pointing out that Athens was an aristocracy (men only at that) and England a monarchy of some influence in the 1800's, with an aristocratic leaning (Burke was a good speaker and was made a Peer at some point). But whatever happened to Lincoln, Hamilton, Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, Adams, and the others? mmmm....
Well, it was interesting, and at least he listened even if he didn't answer my questions. (Except he did say he would start "thinking seriously" about switching his vote, if there was a 100-200 gap in delegate count; I was happy to point out that as of yesterday there was a 169 delegate gap... thanks to Texas and Mississippi final counts!! (yeah, teams!) Maybe he will start thinking.... there is HOPE!
Overall, though, I think my time will be better spent in supporting our work in the current primaries; the superD's will take care of themselves... later.

Governor Richardson decided to support Barack Obama for POTUS, as hard as it may be for Bill and Hillary Clinton to accept they should simply respect Richardson's decision. Gov. Richardson does not owe them anything but thanks and respect, which I'm sure he has expressed to Bill Clinton many times.
Hillary is a LIAR and Bill is a CHEATER so I guess that makes them the perfect couple because they accommodate one another. Those who support them, knowing everything we know about them this far, are out of their minds. Perhaps this is why they feel the need to defend their lies, and their conduct that is unbecoming for a parent, a leader and especially a president. This is America and it is unacceptable for someone to dictate how we should vote.
Hillary's performance during this primary process has been grotesque and it is not the fault of anyone or anything to justify why she is losing and will lose because the blame is her own. She would be a horrible leader because she leads not by example. She would make a terrible president because she only sees it as some form of title worthy of possessing. Hillary has managed to lose a race that she could have won easily, had her mind been present and her facts straight. The only way that Hillary can win this election is if her campaign had one of those mind erasers that was used in the movie Men In Black (MIB). There is no chance of her brainwashing us to believe that she is somehow better than Obama, but she believes that she can and she's better than everyone. Hillary is sleeping and counting on those with a sheep mentality to not only vote her in but to also aid her in deceit by ignoring a closet that is so full of skeletons that the entire world pauses in disbelief. Shame on America, if she's elected.

Finally sat down with the mound of W-2s and other information. We had quite a few changes last year, and I have great worries that we’re going to owe a serious chunk of bread. Last year, trying to file online was a nightmare. I think it took four tries to find software that would apply to our situation.
Obama’s Plan
• Eliminate Income Taxes for Seniors Making Less than $50,000
This proposal will eliminate income taxes for 7 million seniors, and provide these seniors with an average savings of $1,400 each year. Under the Obama plan, 27 million American seniors will also not need to file an income tax return. For many seniors, this will eliminate the need to hire a tax preparer, resulting in even larger savings.
This is true for my 96 year old grandmother. Her income was about $36,000, and she owed $2,100 this year plus $60 in tax preparation, and paying for the trip across the county to drop off the paperwork, then another trip to go get it. (I would have loved for that $2100 go to new hearing aids!)
Obama’s Plan
• Simplify Tax Filings for Middle Class Americans
Obama will dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes. Obama will ensure that the IRS uses the information it already gets from banks and employers to give taxpayers the OPTION (my emphasis) of pre-filled tax forms to verify, sign, and return. Experts estimate that the Obama proposal will save Americans up to 200 million total hours of work and aggravation and up to $2 billion in tax preparer fees. (Not to mention paper!)
I would really like to know what Obama supporters and guests to the Obama blog think about the “Simplify Tax Filings” idea.
Personally, I would like taxes to be SIMPLE and FAIR. I also like any proposal that would tax the consumption of new things over used things to encourage getting the most out of items and getting us away from our disposable mentality.
Any tax preparers out there, I’d like for you to weigh in, too.
I may post this again. Not trying to spam, just trying to get different opinions.
My thanks in advance,
Bobbie Sue “ ‘Cause I’m the Tax Man, Yeah, I’m the Tax Man, and you’re working for no one but me!” Greenearth

From what I understand, Barack also makes filing for federal student aid easier for students and parents. Basically, you hand in your income tax forms and the government will figure out how much aid you should be given.
I actually think some of the questions on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid are appropriate and should be filled out and considered by the government in determining aid--for example, extraordinary circumstances that are not reflected in last year's income tax report. Six years ago, my family had an extraordinary circumstance that was not reflected in their previous years' income tax reports--namely, bankruptcy. If the FAFSA didn't consider extraordinary circumstances, I wouldn't have gotten more aid than I was given and probably wouldn't have been able to attend university.

RE: the FAFSA. My daughter and myself have been doing the FAFSA's since 2001. And there are many places that need improvement. In my case we ran into the following: total investments that were NOT "liquid", and using the previous tax year's income when I was no longer working due to a layoff.

OK, so I came home to a couple of calls on the telephone. I went to listen and the first one was a hang-up so I went to delete it and deleted all the calls--that I hadn't heard!
I looked to see who I deleted and saw a telephone number I didn't recognized and it was from Illinois! Illinois! hhmmmm, perhaps HQ! Perhaps MY Dinner with BO!
I couldn't remember anyone from Illinois. So I called it and it was a message of a woman that could have been a HQ person the way it was so formal, etc. So I left a panting message that I sure would like them to call me back!
I was watching BO on Hardball and a call came in from Illinois! I thought no--not now! But of course I answered it---and well it was-----one of my dear friends wishing me a belated happy birthday!--I forgot all about her and that she lives in Illinois--because I just think Chicago when I think of her! I said thanks, but I have to go and listen to BO on Hardball!
--well not my call for Dinner with BO yet, but now I need to call my dear friend and apologize for my rudeness--which I have been doing a lot of lately with everyone around me.
--I sure hope I still get my call for Dinner with BO--but I want to find out soon so I can lose the few pounds I gained while recovering from leg operation! Come on --call already! I want to lose the weight!

I thought David Gregory would have a good show. His show is crap. I have it on mute while I wait for Chris Matthews to discuss the college tour.
I'm really suprised in Gregory. He should stick to being a White House reporter. His show stinks.

IMHO, DG is a 'closet republican' who has a serious problem with accepting the charismatic Senator Obama. He says the word 'Obama' as if it was foul or something; he had better watch his step or he will be history like Tucker. :-B
My girl, Rachel, continues to put the discussion in a more logical frame though, and for that I am grateful. Besides, DG should be glad I am actually watching since his show follows Matthews; otherwise, I would have switched to Discovery Channel or 3ABN.

This means ***1,300,000 MILES*** have been donated to date – putting ***52 VOLUNTEERS*** on the ground, helping bring it home for Barack.
DONORS: It takes 25,000 miles for a ticket. So – who’s got at least 25,000 on the same airline which they’d like to donate toward making sure Barack Obama is our next President?
Step right up — I’m getting requests almost daily from volunteers who want to help but can’t afford the airfare. Donate now, please, so we can get these people where they’re most needed. We have to work really hard in PA!
VOLUNTEERS: If you want to spend a week or more in PA, but can’t afford to pay your own way, contact me and I’ll try to match you with an airline ticket.
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don’t reply on the blogs; I probably won’t see your response.)

PA Poll Has Obama Ahead
Here is the link to the news source....
Link
A New PPP poll shows Obama leading 45-43 in Pennsylvania. The poll is a clear outlier -- another poll today shows Hillary Clinton ahead 50-41. Still, the direction of the polling is clearly moving Obama's way. The Real Clear Politics average of polls has Clinton's lead falling from 16 points to six.
Do I think Obama will win Pennsylvania? Probably not. Indeed, I can see a repeat of what happened in Texas and Ohio, where Clinton began with twenty plus point margins, Obama closed fast, raising hopes among his supporters that he'd win, only to fall short. A week ago, an eight-point Pennsylvania loss would have been moderately good news for Obama. By the time the primary wolls around, expectations could change to the point where it would be a huge Clinton win.
Anyway, that's your horeserace news and speculation for the day.

I know this is way off topic but I thought this was pretty interesting and wanted to share.
While channel surfing last night my wife and I found something called "Garbage Warrior" on the Sundance Channel. It was all about self-sustained living using geo-thermal principles. The catch is that they're building these houses using old tires filled and pounded with earth and old plastic bottles in the walls to let in light.
Anyway, they also have a website (see link) and I would recommend it to anyone interested in environmental or self-sustained living solutions.
On a side note, I've found some very interesting programs on the Sundance Channel. If you do have it they are going to replay the show Friday morning and Sunday afternoon.

Yes, folks have been building out of old tires for a long time. Trouble is, try and get a building permit in any city to do it this way is a bit tricky.
A very labor-intensive system to build. However, nice to get rid of all those old tires.
I live in a passive solar house (4 degrees off of true south baby!) and burn little recycled wood pellets for heat ($75 for an entire winter to heat my whole house!).
Going green will save you money. It will.
Makes sense: if you use less it will cost you less. Kind of a no-brainer. And if you use used stuff you won't pay as much.
My wife and I are already planning to pay off our home 15 years early by using the money we saved on heat to pay down our principal on our mortgage.
I hope you are listening Barack! ;)

I think there are just folks who have made a conscious decision NOT to vote for him, therefore they just "close their ears" to his brilliance. There is NO WAY ANYONE with any moderate level of intelligence could listen to him and not just "get it" unless they just CHOOSE not to (like my husband... who actually does have brain... not sure what happened there!). lol!!

he said, "Good question? I don't really know. I guess I am just uncomfortable because I have always voted Republican and I like this guy but I don't want people to think I am one of those girls fainting over him."
In the end he agreed to keep an open mind, I gave him alot of info and ways to verify it.

I dont think Edwards will endorse Hillary. He knows she's the titantic now. I think he is still holding out for a a better deal from BO because Obama is in the driver's seat. Anyone that followed this campaign knows that he constantly attacked Hillary and labeled her the establishment. It would be odd for him to endorse her . Clinton finance committee member leaves after unauthorized charges
By Matt Friedman
A member of the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign's finance committee resigned last month after she said the campaign billed her credit card thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges. She is now backing Barack Obama, according to a post she made on Bluejersey.com.
Kathy Callahan, a Psychotherapist from Ridgefield, said that after making an initial donation of $2,000 to the Clinton campaign with her credit card, she was repeatedly charged at least $3,500 more.
"They had my number on file and they kept using it like it was their own. I was blindsided," she said in a telephone interview with PolitickerNJ.
After trying to get her money back, Callahan said that a Clinton official said ""Kathy Callahan, you are going to be with us all the way to the White House...So let's leave the money where it is and we'll save time on inevitable future donations and transactions!"
Reports filed with the Federal Election Commission show Callahan donating $5,500 to the Clinton campaign between March and October of 2007 - that's $900 more than the legal limit of $4,600 for the primary and general elections combined. She received $5,800 back from the campaign -- $1,200 on November 2nd and three separate checks for a total of $4,600 in December.
After a month of trying and failing to get the bulk of her money back, with the exception of the one refund in November, Callahan eventually filed a report with the Ridgefield Police Department - at which point she said she was reimbursed her money by the campaign.

Barack was great on the VIEW.He really connected with the women. He should have female surrogates on as guests. Too bad he couldn't let women voters know in his stump speeches, that he knows how important it is to get a women in as president, but it's more important to change the culture in Washington. Ultimately, that will have a more beneficial effect for women and children.
Young voters can help sway family members.

The Daffodil Principle |
Report to Admin
By
LW
Apr 2nd 2008 at 6:55 pm EDT
I got this in an email today, and I think it applies to many things, including this campaign.
The Daffodil Principle
My daughter had insisted that I drive two hours to her town to see what she called “The Daffodil Garden.” Even though there were a million things to do, I went. We met at her house and left in her car. After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand lettered sign with an arrow that read, “Daffodil Garden."
We got out of the car, and I followed her down the path. Then, as we turned a corner, I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight.
It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it over the mountain peak and its surrounding slopes. The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swathes of deep orange, creamy white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, and saffron and butter yellow. Each different-colored variety was planted in large groups so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue. There were five acres of flowers.
"Who did this?" I asked.
"Just one woman," she answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house, small and modestly sitting in the midst of all that glory. We walked up to the house.
On the patio, we saw a poster. "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are Asking" was the headline. The first answer was a simple one. " 50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "One at a time, by one woman. Two hands, two feet, and one brain." The third answer was, "Began in 1958."
(continued on next post)

(continued)
For me, that moment was a life-changing experience. I thought of this woman whom I had never met, who, more than forty years before, had begun, one bulb at a time, to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountaintop. Planting one bulb at a time, year after year, this unknown woman had forever changed the world in which she lived. One day at a time, she had created something of extraordinary magnificence, beauty, and inspiration The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration.
That is, learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time--often just one baby-step at a time--and learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world.
"It makes me sad in a way," I said. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years? Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"
She summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said.
She was right. It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use today?"
Use the Daffodil Principle.
Stop waiting.....
Until your car or home is paid off
Until you get a new car or home
Until your kids leave the house
Until you go back to school
Until you finish school
Until you clean the house
Until you organize the garage
Until you clean off your desk
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married
Until you get a divorce
Until you have kids
Until the kids go to school
Until you retire
Until summer
Until spring
Until winter
Until fall
Until you die...
There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
Wishing you a beautiful, daffodil day!

This morning, someone directed me to a Youtube video of Florida Senate Democratic Minority Leader Steven Geller, making a motion
pretending
to try not to move the Florida primary to an earlier date. The sarcasm was dripping and the grinning and smirking were obvious.
This is probably part of the evidence that convinced the Rules Committee that Florida didn't really try to block this legislation when the Republicans put it forth, and which is why their appeal was denied and sanctions imposed.
This is truly despicable. They behaved like this and now have the utter gall to point the finger at Barack Obama, get their constituents all pissed off at him, possibly costing him their state in November!
This makes me so angry I could spit.
Well guess what --
the Florida Republican Party, who uploaded the video in the first place, has removed it from Youtube and from their website
!
Except that I still have it open on one of my web browsers and have taken a screen shot of the page to prove that they had it up there at one time. And tomorrow I'm bringing my video camera and pointing it at the screen and videotaping it playing. It will be sucky quality, but it will be evidence.
And then I'm going to circulate it to the media!
The evidence
will
be published if I have anything to say about it!

I do not think that Hillary can back up her comments about getting jobs for anyone in Pennsylvania since she did not deliver as the Senator for New York.
Look back on her record as far as getting jobs for New Yorkers. You will see that she did not come through on her promises.
Meanwhile Bill is still making veiled comments alluding to race campaigning in the south as if he is some good ole boy and not a millionaire many times over. He will promise anything and then turn his back on all of them as he basks in his wealth.
Hillary says that Bill is to be an ambassador at large but he has to explain the millions of dollars he has received from foreign interests first as to the conflict of interest that will arise.

Workers Memorial Day |

In light of the increasing attention of the Presidential campaign to the concerns of working people, I would like all to know that April 28, is Workers Memorial Day. Workers Memorial Day is an annual event, held nation-wide to honor those workers who have suffered injuries or been killed on the job.
The first Workers Memorial Day was observed in 1989. April 28 was chosen because it is the anniversary of the Occupational Safety and Health Act that promised every worker the right to a safe job. Although the protections afforded under the Act have saved hundreds of thousands of lives and prevented millions of workplace injuries, the toll of workplace injuries, illnesses, and deaths remains enormous. In 2006, more than 4.1 million workers were injured and 5,703 workers were killed due to job hazards. Another 50,000 died due to occupational diseases.
The fight for safe jobs has become increasingly more difficult during the seven years of the Bush Administration. At the behest of corporate interests, the Administration has moved to roll back and weaken protections. The budget for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been cut; voluntary compliance with safety and health regulations has been favored over issuing new protective standards and enforcement; and the passage of legislation to improve workplace health and safety has been stymied. Consequently, many workers have little or no protection form serious workplace health and safety hazards, which remain unaddressed.
With a change in control of Congress, and the election of Barack Obama as President, the roll back and weakening of health and safety workplace protections can be reversed. Barack Obama will increase funding for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, including more job site inspections and grants for safety and health training programs for small business employers, and employees and workers in high-risk jobs such as construction.
Barack Obama is also a proud cosponsor of the Protecting America’s Workers Act. This legislation would increase penalties for safety violations that result in a worker’s injury or death, expand Occupational Safety and Health Administration protections to the 8.5 million public workers who are currently left to fend for themselves, protect whistleblowers who expose unsafe working conditions, increase accountability by giving workers greater access to Labor Department investigators and require that employers pay for the safety equipment their workers need.

Obama's speech at this AFL-CIO Convention is great! I can hear his passion. He is a politician to be sure, but a seemingly different brand and in this day, at this time, he is truly what America needs. I love how he runs his campaign. I regret that my state, S.C. is anti union and has been allowed to get away with that position for so long.
