Chris Matthews asked Barack what he's learned about the American people while on the campaign trail. Barack responded:
This campaign has been more of a confirmation of what I had hoped. I had hoped that people were ready for a different kind of politics. I had hoped that young people would be ready to get involved. We've seen record turnout, record participation. That's been extremely encouraging. I've seen how interested people are in their government right now.Our problems occur when no one is watching. When the American people hold the government accountable, we start solving problems and that's what I think we can do right now.
