Gallup Daily: Obama Leads Clinton by 10 Points
Second double-digit lead for Obama in Gallup tracking
For the third consecutive day, Barack Obama holds a significant advantage over Hillary Clinton in national Democratic preferences for the Democratic presidential nomination, now 51% to 41%.
Today's 10 percentage point spread, based on Gallup Poll Daily tracking from April 6-8, is only the second time since January that Obama has achieved a double-digit lead over Clinton, the first being his 10-point lead in interviewing conducted March 27-29.
Although Obama's lead was much narrower at several points recently in the campaign, Clinton has not led Obama by any amount since March 18-20.

Wednesday, April 09, 2008
Rasmussen Reports
In the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, Obama now attracts 50% of the vote while Hillary Clinton earns 41%. That’s the fifth straight day that Obama has been at or above the 50% level of support and enjoyed a significant lead over Clinton (see recent daily results). Clinton continues to hold a modest lead in Pennsylvania while Obama holds a huge lead in North Carolina. Data from Rasmussen Markets now gives Obama an 86.3% chance to win the Democratic nomination. Expectations for an Obama victory have grown steadily over the past month.

I think your idea is great but I spent a week doing Habitat last summer and we were put up by a church, provided meals, slept on cots and showered there. It was a real commitment and hard (we framed the footers, put in rebarb, and then were absolutely killed in pouring the concrete and what you had to do before it set-up. Everybody there did Mon-Fri and then the church or locals did the weekends.
For BHO I did one week in Ohio, two weeks making phone calls to PA, did 300 postcards and then 2 hours of calling Ohio, fundraising and will spend the whole time they're here in KY. I can't afford another week out of my life right now. For sure, something after we win but I'm worn out.

It actually looks like there's progress toward fixing that.
Not to get into a bunch of techhead mumbo-jumbo that most here don't care about, but the forms used to post replies still redirect to the same kind of link they did before today, while the link to the comments on the blog post has changed.
But this morning even the link to the comments was wonky on the blog, and now that's working correctly. So my guess is that it'll sort itself out.
(And while I'm on the subject, I also sent a web site issue report about search not working properly. Fingers crossed we get that resolved soon!)

On the PA page, there are links to the commericials in PA. I LOVE the "One Voice" commericial--had not seen that one.
The one with his grandmother that I saw did not show her for more than 2 seconds. I didn't see where it was opening her up to criticism. Although, what reality are we living in? Really, people think it would be a shock to hear that his grandmother--from Kansas, must have been born sometime around 1913-1917 would not neccesarily be pleased as punch that her daughter married a Kenyan in the 60's? Now, two schools of thought: 1- I don't think anyone of that time is a monster for feeling taken aback by thier daughter marrying a man from Africa. 2-We are all products of our upbringing in many ways-good and bad. His grandmother must have done something very right to raise a woman with such an open mind and feeling of empowerment.
I have not read "Dreams of my Father". Someone who has, does Barack talk about his grandparents in that book?
I don't think anyone can hear him speak about his grandmother in his "race" speech and not know this man loves that woman and vice versa! He would not use her and she would not shy away from helping him!

I'm back after a long day in Malvern. We started at 7:45 and my job was to help steer all the high school students to their seats. The lead organizer said the school principal told her that they really couldn't control what the students may say. This got everyone a little nervous, but the kids were great. They were all seniors who are registered to vote. Anyway, after we got everyone seated, all the volunteers sat behind Obama above the banner (that's why you can't see me in the picture.) I sat with my husband and his co-team leader for the campaign in our region (who happens to be Chubby Checker's son). He was a hoot and is inspired to write some songs!
At the end he went down, and I saw him talk to Obama. I knew when he told Obama he was Checker's son because Obama started doing the twist!!!
I was a hand shake away, but unfortunately he was on the other side of the aisle and left before doing our side. Oh well .....
I was able to give the organizer a KOB (a note folded in a special way that forms a square: KOB stands for Kindess of Bearer -- it's a Quaker thing) from my daughter to Malia and Sasha and she said she would definitely get it to them.
I'm still fired up. He was great with his answers. Unfortunately he was late so had to cut the Q and A short.

I'm talking about worrying about what they write and say about him and if he is going to win the close ones and how hard they both have been working. To my knowledge they might have had 6 days off in the last 6 months. I mean days off as in no speechwriting or travel days. Most of the time it is 7 days a week for Barack. This is an old article from Bill Clinton’s last year in office and around the time of HRC’s senate race. All perfectly legal, apparently, but it sure feels muddy, doesn’t it?
CLINTON APOLOGIST NOW LOBBIES FOR ISLAMABAD
A P Kamath
MARCH 18, 2000
Link
EXCERPTED:
He was a wonderful spin-doctor. For months LANNY J. DAVIS appeared on major television channels in America defending his former boss, Bill Clinton, and assailing anyone who believed that Clinton was not forthcoming in the Monica Lewinsky scandal...
...When Clinton confessed to his affair with Lewinsky, Davis said he was shocked he was to learn the truth, but he never really abandoned the President...
In recent months, Davis has become a very effective spin master for PAKISTAN. And his urging -- not so much the goat curry event Hillary Clinton attended in New York and received a perfectly legal $ 50,000 contribution to her Senate race -- played a major role in Clinton's decision to stop in Pakistan before returning to Washington.
The New York fund-raiser was organized by the Pakistan Political Action Committee (Pak-Pac).
...contributions ranged from $ 250 to $ 1,000 per person. Davis readily acknowledges that he urged the President to add Pakistan to the India trip.
But he quickly denies any relationship between the Washington fund-raiser and the President's decision to visit Pakistan...
Pakistani community leaders say they do not have to apologize for holding the fund-raiser. It was legal and perfectly in good taste, they say. As for Hillary Clinton demanding $ 50,000 for her appearance, they say it is the candidate's prerogative to make demands.
Hillary Clinton, who has said several times she supported a visit by her husband to Pakistan, denied this week that campaign contributions to her Senate race -- which is costing about $ 10 million and is the costliest Senate race in America now -- had any influence on the White House.

I have called HQ and left a voice mail message with our questions and my concern. In my voice mail, I stressed that time is of the essence and we need an answer as to the validity of this fundraising event.
Hopefully, this is legitimate! I don't even care if I end up looking like a stupid, worry wart in 24-48 hours, as long as no one gets taken for a ride.

Sorry, off subject. I posted this on another blog - on bottom again.
Has anyone seen this?
Lawsuit filed to remove Hillary Clinton from Nevada Ballot.
On Friday April 4th at 8:00 AM a lawsuit was filed in the Second Judicial District of Nevada in Reno. The lawsuit to be filed by Doug Wallace seeks the removal of Hillary Clinton from the Nevada Presidential Ballot on the grounds that she is ineligible to hold the office conforming to Article II specificity of the U.S. Constitution.
Is this for real? Link

Fishy fishy in the brook won't you bite on my little hook.
If this fish was named Barack the lucky fisherman or women to catch this fish could cast a vote for Barack on April 22nd in the PA primary.
Sounds kind of funny but its true. On April 19th and 20th just days before the PA primary A Catholic School conducts a fishing derby. They take donations of 10.00 or more to sponsor a fish. When you sponsor a fish you get to name that fish what ever you wish. Then it is released into a creek were numerous men and women fish for these fish on the 19th and 20th of April.
Once the fish is caught the lucky fisherman or women will need to turn the fish in to claim there prize. At that time if there not already aware of the fish name from the prize sheet they will learn the fish name they just caught.
Numerous men and women spend 2 days out on this creek trying to catch these fish. Help Barack and this school with there fundraiser its a win win situation. Visit
Link
and sponsor a fish for 10.00 or more in Barack's name.
Below is the fish names people have picked for there fish. If you donate a fish please send me a friend request with your fish name or post in my main fish blog so I can add you fish to the growing list.
1 Vote 4 Obama 10.00

Because of the size of the sample, the area or ecconomic segment that just happens to become the majority of those called, how the question is asked (tone of voice, hesitant), other conversation or questions that may occur before the deciding question, the political leanings of the firm doing the polling, who is paying the bill, etc. Also whether a poli8tical party wants their supports to answer honestly when called or to say they are for the other party/candidate so can down play how they are doing. Here in Canada each political party and/or candidate hires their own pollsters so that they get a better feel. Sometimes they have their own volunteers do polling ( set up own polling bank)

That's because Pennsylvania is a very difficult place to poll, ust like Ohio. It's all about turn-out. If Obama can GOTV in Philadelphia, he'll do well. If he wins late-deciders big, he might have a shot. If he doesn't do either, he will lsoe by 20 points.

Sample sizes over 1000+ people typically represent a good snapshot. Anything less than that is less reliable. My bf does a lot with sample sizes, polling, survey question design, etc and this was has been his input regarding the polls.
I agree that the Quinnipiac poll is pretty reliable given that the sample size is over 1000. I also agree that the demographics of where the poll is taken plays a role. There is so much variability that this is exactly why relying on polls is a big risk.

Question is whether Obama will hit her hard enough on issues and lies?
1) Would he make ads with HRC video on Bosnia?
2) Would he make ads with HRC video on Walmart?
3) Would he make ads exposing NAFTA issues of Clintons?
4) Would he make ads exposing Columbia ties of Bill Clinton with others in HRC campaign? Bill Clinton earned $800,000 by lobbying for Columbia.
My list may not be complete.
If Barack thinks exposing dishonesty of HRC is negative campaign

If we lose by 20 in PA, get ready for the worst month of your life as this nomination will surely slip away. Superdelegates will not rally around someone that loses Pennsylvania by 20. No way, no how. Obama needs to take the gloves off. Fight her. Brawl with her. Clinton doesn't know how to take a punch. Remember South Carolina? Obama did this in SC when he had his back against the wall. He needs to do it again to deliver the knockout punch.

Hi Ugonna:
I understand your point as well as your frustration; honestly..I do. However; please TRY not to assert BO's manhood. ("Be a man for heavensake!) My take on this is that BO IS being a man. He's winning this campaign with much respect, dignity, AND integrity. He's not whining at all; he's doing what comes natural for/to him. Personally; I don't think BO is EVER going to beat up on HRC like some may want him to. He respects America; and everyone (yes; including HRC)and everything it encompasses. To be nasty is just NOT his make up. You know how he always says "We can disagree w/out being disagreeable". (?) He has been extremely successful at getting things done withOUT all of the drama. I will say that when HE feels the time is right, he'll do what he has to do to defend himself. "Nothing's right when timing is wrong". It may sometimes look different to others b/c some are simply used to seeing people get defenSIVE when they defend themselves. I can't see BO going there. He'll just tell the truth. I was at Michelle's rally lastnight at NC State. If I don't remember anything she said last night, I will always remember this statement: "folks don't mind hearing the hard truth....if they trust the truth-teller." TRUST BO. Whatever it is that you're seeing IN him that makes you believe that he should 'man-up', I'd venture to guess that it's probably his God-given gift of patience, humbleness, and a peaceful spirit. BO is the epitome of a REAL MAN.

I agree. You raise the question of Obama campaign's strategy to defeat Hilliary.
Prior to OH Hilliary lied about NAFTA, and Obama lost votes over NAFTA.
Obama campaign failed to challenge her claim of 35 years of experience, which included her time at WalMart and many years as corporate lawyer.
Obama overspent Hilliary in OH. Yet Hilliary got more free time on TV and SNL got her votes.
Over the last two weeks headlines about Hilliary's campaign have been negative (Bosnia,Columbia, Birkle, Gupta). There is no question Obama should be able to win PA...
....but looking back to OH, I'm not sure if Obama campaign has what it takes to win against the likes of Hilliary.

Kansas City.
I remember when I was little and I found out KC wasn't actually in Kansas...I didn't understand how that could be.
I'm doing a research paper on Red and blue states, my argument is that they don't really exist, that it's more press hype than anything...
Kansas is destroying my argument.

I did the same earlier, as a dozen others - however, being a pessimist I wrote I will never ever be first - and pessimists are seldom disappointed. Whenever there is a new thread there are aleady at least 90 names before it shows on my PC, I wonder why? If I check it every four minutes, the first has been there at least for 20 minutes anyway. But I guess this only happens to a pessimist. Fair enough.

Cheryl from Boston Feels the Gift
Apr 9th 2008 at 6:15 pm EDT
Dear BO-Friends,
I pass this on to you because it appears that Howard Dean and the DNC finally realize what a strong coalition and movement we really are. For those of you who aren't on the DNC mailing list I thought you would be interested to show them just how good we are in getting letters out! As if they don't already know that...So for those inclined. This is a good request from Dean et al.
Dear Cheryl,
John McCain is so wrong on Iraq, he can't even get the basic facts about the situation on the ground correct.
Today, as he was questioning Gen. David Petraeus, he again confused the difference between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
At least five times as a candidate John McCain has stated that Iran (a Shiite nation) is supporting Al-Qaeda (a Sunni group) in Iraq. This is not some minor mistake, but a significant gaffe. He clearly does not understand the sensitive political dynamics in that region of the world.
What's worse is that he's done it at important times when you'd expect him to be at his best -- he did it today in the Senate while questioning the commander of American forces in Iraq, and he did it on a recent trip to the Middle East.
If John McCain can't remember such a simple fact at crucial times, how will he be able to do it as President?
We have to stop John McCain from taking control of the White House, and stop him from taking over George Bush's war in Iraq. Can you write a letter to the editor of your local paper letting voters in your area know just how confused John McCain is?
Link
Once is misspeaking -- five times is a dangerous lack of understanding. John McCain so badly misunderstands Iraq that he's content to stay there for 100 years, something he's said multiple times. He has also failed to explain how he would pay for a war that is now costing you and me $12 billion each month -- money we could be using to help our economy here at home.
John McCain wants us to believe that his decades of foreign policy experience make him the natural choice to lead our nation at war with terrorists.
We just can't afford someone who just doesn't understand Iraq -- it's too dangerous.
Thanks for your support.

Jon Ausman Releases Memo on Florida Appeal
Former lone Kucinich superdelegate Jon Ausman gives us some info on what's going on behind the scenes.
The staff of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) have completed and submitted their review of the two appeals seeking to have 23 superdelegates and 92 pledged delegates award to Florida .
The first appeal notes the DNC Charter states Democratic US Senators, Democratic US House Members, former DNC Chairs and DNC Members “shall” be delegates to the Democratic National Convention. This “bill of rights” given to 23 Floridians cannot be taken away by a subordinate body created by the DNC since that subordinate body does not have the authority to do so.
The second appeal states the penalty for violating the “timing rule” “shall be” a fifty percent (50%) reduction in the pledged delegates and the loss of the three (3) unpledged add-on delegates. This means Florida should have at least 92 pledged delegates.
The remaining 93 pledged delegates and three (3) unpledged add-on delegates I hope to win at a later time if not on this appeal itself.
Review by Co-Chairs, Rules and Presidential Politics
The two Co-Chairs of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee (RBC) have been reviewing the staff comments and recommendations since 31 March 2008. While the 2008 Delegate Selection Rules provide a strict timeline in many areas when an appeal is made it is silent on how long the Co-Chairs can review the appeals and the staff review.

Thank you for consideration of donation on behalf of the ones that die in wars, especially, Iraq. It really means a lot. I feel that if those soldiers were here they would probably be voting and donating themselves. My son-in-law did two tours to Iraq. They were both for a year and only had a few weeks between them. Now I hear most of them are there for 15 months or more. We adopted Matt's platoon and the pictures were heart breaking. I will never forget the one where the soldier had just collapsed and some others were trying to hold him up because he had just be told him his best friend (Tim Brown) had been killed. The other one that haunts me is the official facial picture of Tim. Everybody had nicknames and since he was Brown they called him UPS because he was always ready to go. I see Tim every time I see a commercial or UPS truck on the road. Thanks you very much.

A very big reason why I'm 1000% for Barack Obama is his plan to rein in the power of lobbyist. It is important to note that the United States is the only country (with its size, wealth, and strength) where the phone companies have been allowed to milk the citizens dry without the government batting an eye. I CAN'T IMAGINE THE RATIONALE BEHIND OUR PAYING FOR INCOMING CALLS ON OUR CELL PHONES. This does not happen in Europe or even in the poor countries of Asia and Africa. Our government is completely insensitive to what happens to us. As Obama put it, we "are on our own." I hope Obama plans to fix this. This struggle should be elevated and made part of his plan to bring justice and fairness to American internal commercial practices.

This is an important announcement. As a mother of two teenage sons who support Obama we have decided to resign from The Nation of Change Rally April 19th 2008. It has come to our attention that they are spreading false rumors about other rallies to discredit them because they feel that other rallies will affect there attenence on April 19th 2008. The negativities are not becoming of an Obama Rally and to spread lies about other Obama suppots efforts should be STOPPED. It has also come to our attention the The Nation of Change rally on April 19th 2008 are collectioning money for personal gain. We encourage any one associated with The Nation of Change Rally April 19th 2008 should disassociate themselves. My family and I are going to Penn. to join the Obama rally there. Thanks to the generosity of many who donated their valuable frequent flyer miles, we sent 29 out-of-state volunteers to Texas and Ohio, and so far have another 32 going to Pennsylvania.
This means ***1,525,000 MILES*** have been donated to date – putting ***61 VOLUNTEERS*** on the ground, helping bring it home for Barack.
DONORS: It takes 25,000 miles for a ticket. So – who’s got at least 25,000 on the same airline which they’d like to donate toward making sure Barack Obama is our next President?
Step right up — I’m getting requests almost daily from volunteers who want to help but can’t afford the airfare. Donate now, please, so we can get these people where they’re most needed. ***WE JUST USED THE LAST TICKET AND NEED MORE MILES.***
VOLUNTEERS: If you want to spend a week or more in PA, but can’t afford to pay your own way, contact me and I’ll try to match you with an airline ticket.
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don’t reply on the blogs; I probably won’t see your response.)

We are 16-15-14 days away from Pennsylvania. This campaign has thus far raised about twice as much as The Other campaign. But we’ve got to keep going, we must finish this thing off. There are many ways to support this campaign, one way is to give. The list totals $11,703-$11,653-$11,613 right now. I challenge this blog and this camping to knock off these 10-9 names by the Pennsylvania primary.
Mama For Obama has been sitting at the top of the list for a while, as you can see. She’s slowly meeting her goal. I feel like there is someone out there who reads all the blogs, kind of sitting on the sideline waiting for an opportunity to give. This could be it. Is there someone who can give the maximum $2300, or close to that?
The Top Ten List:
1. Mama For Obama has been sitting up here for a while. Can anyone give the max donation of $2300? She made her page on Jan 17 in honor of Future First Lady Michelle Obama's birthday, the “#1 mama”. $4491-$4476-$4471-$4461-$4351- $4326-$4276-$4256-$4241-$4191- $4166-$4141-$4116-$4106-$4096- $4071-$4046-$3996-$3971-$3951- $3926-$3876-$3861-$3836-$3586- $3576-$3481-$3456-$3431-$3421- $3396-$3346-$3261-$3036-$3000- $2990-$2980

2. Here is Lisa From L.A. She needs $880 more…make that $870-$865-$855-$805-$795-$780- $770-$610-$600-$570-$520-$420- $350-$320

3. New To This has raised much of her $5,000 but still is lacking $1475-$1465-$1455-$1420-$1410- $1400-$1390-$1380-$1370-$1345- $1320-$1300
Link
4. Jill helped another Obama friend raise over $800. Now she needs help. Can we give her some? $1665-$1655-$1665-$1645-$1619- $1519-$1469-$1459
Link
5. Denise wrote, “A year ago I would have never imagined I'd be spending a Saturday making calls soliciting support for a political candidate. For that matter blogging, sign waving, or reading every word a health care plan… Can anyone can help out?” Well? $900-$875-$850-$740-$715-$680- $615-$605-$595 to go.

6. Willie B writes: If one has done it so can you, if no one has done it that one can be you. He’s looking for $1000-$855-$845-$825-$810 -$760-$735

7. Here’s Gigi, who’s fundraising on behalf of her grandson. Her fundraising goal is based on her family’s lucky number 27, as in $2700…make that $2660-$2598-$2558-$2523-$2498

Hi Everybody;
Like most of you I have followed Barack's campaign from day one and read the comments left by others on the blogs. One blog in particular has made such an impact on me I thought I pass it along again to inspire you. There was a blogger that said "Donate to Barack's site please. In addition donate to a cause called...DONORSCHOICE.COM to help a teacher in PA. So I went to the site to check it out. There are so many teachers looking to make a difference that I have since donated multiple times and when they say how did I find out about the site I said "Barack Obama's" website. Think about giving just a little to help a teacher improve her/his students. One teacher wanted toner paper and ink for a copy machine. The causes are wonderful and will make you feel so great that you've helped make a difference. It's like Barack always says "We all need to help make a difference and to HOPE". If each of you donated a few dollars you might give HOPE to that teacher and the students. Thanks to the person who first mentioned this site. It's a wonderful place. www.donorschoice.com
