Tonight, Barack wrapped up his six day "Road to Change" bus tour through Pennsylvania by attending a volunteer training at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia to thank hundreds of volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
Barack told the huge crowd:
This is a great way to wrap up the six day bus tour through Pennsylvania!...You guys know I used to be an organizer, what you guys are now. Working with churches to provide job training for the unemployed after a steel mill closed. It was the best education I have had because it taught me that ordinary people could do extraordinary things when given the chance....This election is not going to depend on the polls, it's not going to depend on the superdelegates, it's going to depend on you....This isn't about me, it's about you. Imagine this force at work all across Philadelphia to bring an end to violence, to improve our schools. This is your time.
After the event, I spoke to Krista, Eileen, and Kahlil, all residents of Philadelphia.Krista is on the Steering Commitee of "Philly for Obama" and is the Resource Coordinator for the Northwest Philadelphia office. Eileen is the Assistant Resource Coordinator, and together they knock on doors, make phone calls, and make sure that supplies such as clipboards, pamphlets, and other materials are always stocked in the office.
Krista likes Barack's "ability to motivate people to action." She said:
He's head and shoulders above the rest on the war and the economy...I just can't stop talking about him! His speech on race was an advance for the human race.
Eileen belongs to an organization that advocates peace, and she really likes Barack's stance on ending the war in Iraq. She likes how Barack "reaches out to people of all races and ethnicities. He treats everyone with respect and dignity and looks at all people in an equal light."
