Our Students for Barack Obama group in Billings, Montana held a meeting on Thursday night to discuss ways in which students can become involved with the campaign. Twenty-three current interns attended, and an additional six interns were recruited during the meeting.
After pizza, soda, and introductions, the students planned an Early Vote event entitled "Votes and Floats," which will feature Root Beer floats and a trip vote early. The students will also canvass downtown Billings with early vote fliers to persuade people in downtown Billings to vote between the time they leave work at 5:00 p.m. and the Board of Elections closing time at 6:00 p.m. After the planning meeting, the students committed to 70 Get Out the Vote (GOTV) shifts and took sign up sheets with them to recruit more. They ended the evening with a 20 student phone bank competition with chum as prizes for top callers!
If you live in Montana, make sure to vote early!
