To all Democrats, Independents, Undeciders, Republicans, and former supporters of other candidates:
Welcome one, welcome all
Listen up and heed the call
Out time is now, join in the fun
This campaign is indeed for everyone
You may hesitate, you may even be shy
You might even be tempted to tell a white lie
But one thing we know for certain to be true
This election is all about me and you
Remember now, all this noise will be soon pass
All the confusion and bother, it will not last
We all want to be content in this beautiful land
Let's do this together, oh YES, WE CAN!
ONE LOVE, y'all!

McCain doesn't know if condoms prevent the spread of HIV |
Report to Admin
By
Jen Rencher from Jersey City
Mar 30th 2008 at 8:43 pm EDT
Reporter: “Should U.S. taxpayer money go to places like Africa to fund contraception to prevent AIDS?”
Mr. McCain: “Well I think it’s a combination. The guy I really respect on this is Dr. Coburn. He believes – and I was just reading the thing he wrote– that you should do what you can to encourage abstinence where there is going to be sexual activity. Where that doesn’t succeed, than he thinks that we should employ contraceptives as well. But I agree with him that the first priority is on abstinence. I look to people like Dr. Coburn. I’m not very wise on it.”
(Mr. McCain turns to take a question on Iraq, but a moment later looks back to the reporter who asked him about AIDS.)
Mr. McCain: “I haven’t thought about it. Before I give you an answer, let me think about. Let me think about it a little bit because I never got a question about it before. I don’t know if I would use taxpayers’ money for it.”
Q: “What about grants for sex education in the United States? Should they include instructions about using contraceptives? Or should it be Bush’s policy, which is just abstinence?”
Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “Ahhh. I think I support the president’s policy.”
Q: “So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV?”
Mr. McCain: (Long pause) “You’ve stumped me.”
Q: “I mean, I think you’d probably agree it probably does help stop it?”
Mr. McCain: (Laughs) “Are we on the Straight Talk express? I’m not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I’m sure I’ve taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception – I’m sure I’m opposed to government spending on it, I’m sure I support the president’s policies on it.”
Q: “But you would agree that condoms do stop the
spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Would you say: ‘No, we’re not going to distribute them,’ knowing that?”
Mr. McCain: (Twelve-second pause) “Get me Coburn’s thing, ask Weaver to get me Coburn’s paper that he just gave me in the last couple of days. I’ve never gotten into these issues before.”

Unfortunately yes. McCain said it on March 16th, but the comment was eclisped by Obama's speech on race. It's sad to see such an intelligent man forced to say such ridiculous things in order to get his party's nomination.

Actually, this was said on March 17, 2007. A year ago.
It did get a fair amount of play in the MSM at that time, as I recall. One can only hope McCain has educated himself on his position since then.

A fight at the convention is just fine.
A BLOODY FIGHT IN DENVER IS JUST FINE.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??????
What is the chance of the Dems winning after a convention fight? ZERO
You might as well hand the nomination to John McCain.
Voters in the remaining contests can prevent that nightmare by voting to Barack.
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN.
Clear and simple.
A VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A VOTE FOR MCCAIN.

To be fair, back in the days when McCain was still in the Navy sleeping around, cheating on his first wife in Jacksonville FL, that was before the AIDS epidemic was big so he had no reason to know about any use of condoms other than as birth control.

Since Obama is driving around the country side of PA. and trying to connect with the people there. (I personally think this is wonderful).. I think that the blue collar people there would find him more acceptable and lovable, and it would diminsh the notion that he only attracts the latte drinkers, if he gets a Boss Hogg (The Dukes Of Hazard) horn on that bus and also a pair of Texas Long Horns to put on the front of it.
What do you think....I know it sounds a bit corny, but heck it would also show people he has a since of humor and is one of us....

Hi Theresa --
I think it's great to try to get Sen. Obama to connect with the people of Pennsylvania in what most pundits say is "Clinton Country" -- but a Boss Hogg horn and the Long Horns would seem to me to be fake. Remember when John Kerry went hunting before the 04 election? It looked like he was the most uncomfortable hunter in the world, and it looked fake.
But Sen. Obama does have a lot of "real people" stuff going for him: his maternal grandparents, and his struggles to pay back his student loans are the two things that come to mind at first.
I also hope in this election that people of all races, creeds, and backgrounds can vote for the person they think is best for the job, not the person who is most like them. The more real Barack can be, and the less fake he seems to people all over the nation, the better chance he has to win the nomination and the better chance he has to win in November.

Theresa, I believe Obama would actually enjoy that. He has said that his father was once a goat herder from Kenya. I think he has always wanted to connect with his father, who left when he was quite young. I know that Long Horns and goats should not be compared...but perhaps the spirit of the herders can be. Perhaps it will bring him closer to his paternal heritage. What do you think?

Don, fellow volunteer is hosting this event.
Stop-loss (Movie) in Iraq war awareness
Let's get together and recharge at the movie theater when we all go to see the movie "Stop-loss" starring Ryan Phillip ("Flags of our Fathers", "Crash", and "Breach"). It's a story of how the US government pays back an Army combat soldier with an extra tour of duty (the practice of stop-loss or also known as back door drafting) after he had served in combat zone in an idiotic Iraq war (his words). It highlights the no end in sight Iraq war with its nonsensical killings, the post traumatic horror that awaits all veterans when they come home, and underscores the importance of supporting a candidate that has pledged to end this carnage and bring our troops home soon. This will give all of us a time to reflect and at the same time gather inspiration and shore up friendships while enjoying a wonderful performance. The BEST part is that we WILL ALL HAVE TO WEAR OBAMA VISIBILITY GEAR !! AND WE NEED TO COME OUT IN FULL FORCE ON A WEEKEND DAY WHEN THE MOVIE THEATER IS FULL! For others in Indiana, Pennsylvania and other states etc. they are encouraged to organize similarly in their own high visibility movie theater of their choice. Let's have fun and recharge after a long day of volunteering!

Mahatma Gandhi was right when he said; "First they laugh at you, then they ignore you, then they fight you, then you win."
How true! First they laughed at the thought of Obama putting to together any meaningful team to campaigning for the presidency. They even said he would not raise money. When he did all that, they ignored him and said it was inevitable that Hillary would be the Dem's nominee. When Obama started winning, they started fighting by throwing at him the kitchen sink and the boiler too. Then, we will win not only the primary -- which we've already won by the way -- but also the general election. Yes we will.

Not just because Barack Obama inspires me, which he does, but because your love and emotional commitment to changing America's future toward the better is palpable. Despite occasionally having to defend ourselves, this campaign is all about love at it's base. Everybody wants to be loved, listened to, and cared about. Listening to Barack, you can feel all the artificial lines and walls wash away, yielding to a spirit of clear skies and fresh air. He depolarizes the charges that keep people emotionally invested in "sides". And in people's hearts, that is where it's at. And THAT is how he manages to attract some Republicans and independents. Barack attracts PEOPLE, not Democrats per se.
LINCOLN'S GOOD KARMA LEGACY
Lincoln is one of a handful of presidents that touch me. I've been reading yet another biography of the man, and it lept out at me. When Lincoln ran for president, he was a relatively new and unknown candidate from Illinois, a back-woods lawyer having only served one term in Congress. Not favored to win, he was under-estimated by pundits and opponents, and it was his gift for words and persuasive speaking that was his strongest asset. He healed many political wounds, by embracing those of opposing
parties (ultimately appointing some of them to his cabinet). Sound like anyone we know? How ironic and karmic that Lincoln would free the very people who's lineage would eventually carry his torch in a most passionate and inspirational way.
Barack has always had the capacity to surf the hearts and sensibilities of the people. He is the conduit of a people's movement. A nexus for a progressive awakening, that you know is righteous in your gut. He's a natural, which is why Barack speaks so organically. An honest truthful message, at the right time and place, will be organic, striking a resonant harmonious chord.
Love & All Good Things,
That Greg guy

Many people are in a similar financial situation to myself, living on a small pension or SSDI, unable to walk the streets knocking on doors, lacking the means or ability to spend countless hours calling prospective voters.
If this is you, here is your chance to contribute whatever you can spare, (as little as $5.00) will help us win the White House and return this country to the path that our founding fathers had envisioned and fought so hard to create, that our own fathers and grandfathers defended with their blood and that the current men and woman serving abroad deserve to come home to. A country with an agenda that is not mired in self made turmoil and devisive politics.
Help bring the dream to fruition, donate today!

Keith Olbermann's Countdown was great, as always, and what a TREAT!!--because it was the FIFTH anniversary of his show, I got to watch it on regular NBC (my full television screen) instead of our little computer screen!
(We have a modest cable package, without CNN or MSNBC.)
Now I'm gonna have to pressure NBC to do this more often, and not just keep him cooped up on MSNBC. He's too much fun!
Started out with something about Hillary NOT really "channeling" Winston Churchill in that famous "We Will Never Surrender" speech (reference her refusal to quit the race). I can't do his take on this justice--ya just gotta watch the show!

Well, from the looks of things, Maggie Williams actually helped to get them on track to doing more of the right thing. But the people who headed up Delta Financial apparently supported the Republican party, so I wonder if Williams was the "token liberal black female" to "add diversity" to their board (sort of like Hillary Clinton was the female representative on the Walmart board back in the late 80s).

Team We Can't Trust
By Dick Morris

Advertisment
Bill Clinton made a significant admission in Corpus Christi, Texas this month - saying he had decided to pardon Puerto Rican terrorists back in 1999 "based on the stuff I was given by the staff."
But Ron Kolb, the citizen whose questioning prompted the ex-president's comment, rightly pointed out that the FBI and Justice Department had opposed the pardons. The clear conclusion is that it was Clinton's political staff who pushed for clemency - with the obvious goal of helping Hillary Clinton's bid to become a New York senator.
Bill still denies that was his motive, of course - but no one believes it. The lobbying by Hispanic politicians from New York on the issue had been years-long; the culmination was noted by the New Republic noted back in '99: "Two days before the president announced the clemency deal, New York City Councilman Jose Rivera personally presented Hillary with a packet on clemency, including a letter asking her to 'speak to the president and ask him to consider granting executive clemency' to the prisoners."
The FALN, a terrorist group devoted to independence for Puerto Rico, bombed the Fraunces Tavern here in New York City in 1975, killing four and injuring 54 others.
It also:
* Bombed five other downtown New York buildings in 1974.
* Booby trapped a building in Manhattan and then called the police, seriously injuring and partially blinding an officer.
* Exploded two bombs in Chicago's Loop in 1975.
* Bombed the Merchandise Mart in Chicago in 1977.
* Bombed a Mobil Oil office in New York, killing one person, in 1977.
* Bombed two Chicago military recruiting offices in 1979.
* Injured three police officers in New York bombings in 1982.
Even in those pre-9/11 days, pardoning terrorists who weren't even remorseful drew public outrage; candidate Hillary soon wound up condemning Bill's decision.
But when it comes to politics, they really are a team - Hillary's administration would be staffed from the same pool that Bill drew upon.
The same team that freed hardened terrorists to win political markers for Hillary - the same team that's now willing to tear the Democratic Party apart in its desperate bid to steal the nomination for Hillary - would once again be empowered to free the guilty and endanger the innocent, whenever it suited their political needs.

Thanks to the generosity of many who donated their valuable frequent flyer miles, we sent 28 out-of-state volunteers to Texas and Ohio, and so far have another 21 going to Pennsylvania.
This means ***1,225,000 MILES*** have been donated to date!!!
DONORS: It takes 25,000 miles for a ticket. So – who’s got at least 25,000 on the same airline which they’d like to donate toward making sure Barack Obama is our next President?
Step right up — I’m getting requests almost daily from volunteers who want to help but can’t afford the airfare. Donate now, please, so we can get these people on the ground where they’re most needed. We have to work harder in PA!
VOLUNTEERS: If you want to spend a week or more in PA, but can’t afford to pay your own way, contact me and I’ll try to match you with an airline ticket.
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don’t reply on the blogs; I probably won’t see your response.)

Actually the delegates will be awarded based off the convention delegates. Therefore we are winning 56% of the 87.19% of the convention delegates. The 57 percent is a result of the disproportionate delegates in the smaller counties.

Actually 57% refers to the percentage of CONVENTIONS counted, while 87.19% is the percentage of the total delegates available. The remaining 43% of conventions not tallied yet are a bunch of small places (110+ of them) with between 1 and 10 delegates each. The only larger convention not reported yet is Collin (2 districts there), and they didn't caucus until today...there are more than 170 delegates that will be awarded from there.

Yes, but 88% of the delegates have been allocated. Out of the rest of the delegates, Collin County is worth 180 delegates, and the rest of the conventions are worth a very small number (some times, 1-2 delegates).

Please be patient with us. I posted earlier that we were at our convention until after midnight. I got home at around 1:45am and woke up this morning with a serious Caucus hangover!
The results of my Precinct caucus on March 4th was 7 delegates for Obama and 10 for HRC. With this result, we were awarded a possible one delegate to go to Austin. We could have given up and not attended or only give a half-hearted effort, but we were not deterred by what it "looked" like.
Thanks to the Obama HQ prep sessions that we attended last week and Precinct strategy meetings in between, the Obama delegates were in attendance and prepared.
Not so for the 10 HRC delegates from our Precinct. Not all of them showed up and the ones that did, didn't have signed "appointment" statements from absent delegates for the alternates.
Long story short, we walked away with the Delegate that's going to Austin in June (even though they started out with more delegates on March 4th).
Though we're going to Win, this takes a lot of work and lots of time to make sure every "I" is dotted and every "T" is crossed. Thanks!

I know it's difficult for people to understand the TX election process (most of us were overwhelmed by enormity as well). 7 to 10 delegates that result in 1 delegate to State may not sound like very much, but it represents hundreds of people who voted and committed to our guy!
It takes more work than words can say to pull this off, but with the support of our Wonderful HQ staff and all of you guys making those calls...we will prevail!
Thanks again for Everyone's continued support!

Last week I received an e-mail message from Chris Carlson entitled 'A Carrot, and a Stick'. You may have received Chris's e-mail or saw his posting at
Link
. In response to Chris' posting, I created a donation page at ActBlue.org called 'Friends of Obama'.
Link
It's purpose is to act as a conduit for funds donated by Obama supporters to the elected candidates (super delegates) who have endorsed Senator Obama and to the Democratic party organizations Chris has identified. Please consider making donations through ActBlue and the 'Friends of Obama' page so that they can be tallied and reported periodically just as we are doing at the DonorsChoose website. The list of candidates will be updated as new endorsements are made.
Our intent is not to redirect contributions away from Senator Obama's campaign, that should always receive first priority, but to demonstrate that we are ready to support other candidates who are up for reelection in 2008. Like Chris, my action is in response to the Clinton donor letter to Rep. Nancy Pelosi. I examined the records at OpenSecrets.org and determined that the donors who signed the letter have contributed a total of $443,200 to DNC Services Corp, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee during the 2008 election cycle.
Let's make our goal that of matching the $443,200 in donations.
Also please help publicize the page be giving a digg at

Welcome - and enjoy yourself. I must warn you though that this blog is hard to keep up with unlike on HRC blog were there are less than 100 comments to dig through for any particular thread. Every minute you hit the refresh button, there will be 2 or 3 comments added. So if it seems like no one is paying attention to you, dont take it personal, there is so much to read.

Welcome, Snucky. :) Don't worry ... you'll find little to no animosity here, especially when we all come in peace, which is one of the "pillars," if you will of Barack's campaign. Kudos to you, by the way, for coming in peace and not antagonism. In the end, we're all Deomcrats and we should pull together to take back the White House. Feel free while you're here to ask any question that you'd like and peruse Barack's positions, in case you haven't already. I believe you'll find that you most certainly won't be wasting your vote when (what we believe) the inevitable happens. :)

Hola Snucky! It was for folks such as yourself that I'd written the following :)
A WARM WELCOME TO ALL NEW FORMER (& CURRENT) HILLARY CLINTON SUPPORTERS!
I apologize if our tone becomes heated! It's NOT you :) If you're here for the first time because of recent frustrations over Hillary's "misspeaking" or electability issues please understand that if our blog sounds upset with her, we are NOT denouncing YOU!
In fact, we deeply admire your coming to rethink your options during this election! It takes bravery to stare your candidate in the eye and say, what would make me leave you?
I know that there are things that I would leave Barack Obama's campaign over, although I don't foresee these things happening, just as many of you never suspected that Hillary would actively discredit herself in such an upsetting fashion.
Also, please recognize that our blogs are highly unmoderated... we "self-report." If you are NEW HERE, and have a question, and you ask it politely, you will undoubtedly get a polite answer. We've had people from EVERY political ilk come through and ask questions. We also have trolls come through often, and that's an intrinsic problem with any campaign that supports free speech as we do.
We know we share the same hopes and dreams and we embrace you for coming here.

I saw a heated discussion in one of the previous pages about what can be done to convince more white women to vote for Obama in PA. One of the suggestion given was to remind them that Clinton has opposed the ban on the use of Cluster bombs and land mines that have been responsible for so many civilian deaths and children losing their limbs...that is a very sad thing for a woman to have not opposed that, I am not sure if that position of her has been really conveyed to the voters/esp mothers..?

I think this song kind of fits the situation with Hillary...
A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing - This Providence
Oh, you're throwing everything you have at me
cheap shots, low blows
will you ever let it go
you're so pathetic
give it a rest
you're not gonna win
you're never gonna
You love the sound of your own voice
in a crown of death upon your head
come on, you and all your royalty
only adds to infamy
you're going to taste my fist
You're so good at stretching the truth,
into a sugar coated lie.
Everyone takes a bite.
I have been dining with the enemy.
It was a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Now it's so clear to me.
Oh-hhh-ohh
I've had enough of your games
if you're not trembling, you'd better be
cause we're gonna be the end of you
I've had enough of your games
I'm gonna show them who you really are
And I can tell you right now, it won't be pretty
You say, "I can convince anyone, anything"
provoking the anger of, a jealous God
still you spin a web of lies, fear, lust, pride, greed and shame
you said no one, oh you said no one escapes the pain, pa-a-a-ain.
I've had enough of your games
if you're not trembling, you'd better be
cause we're gonna be the end of you
I've had enough of your games
I'm gonna show them who you really are
And I can tell you right now, it won't be pretty
I'm a fighter not a coward, disguised as a lover
in disguise, in disguise
For so long now, you held me down
you held me, you held me down
you held me down
you held me down for so long
but its not gonna last
cause I can see right through your beautiful lies
I've had enough of your games
if you're not trembling, you'd better be
cause we're gonna be the end of you
I've had enough of your games
I'm gonna show them who you really are
And I can tell you right now, it won't be pretty
Oh you're throwing everything you have at me

What struck me as the best commentary on the Bosnia story came from a poster called GI Joe who wrote in to a news blog: "Actually Mrs. Clinton was too modest. I was there and saw it all. When Mrs. Clinton got off the plane the tarmac came under mortar and machine gun fire. I was blown off my tank and exposed to enemy fire. Mrs. Clinton without regard to her own safety dragged me to safety, jumped on the tank and opened fire, killing 50 of the enemy." Soon a suicide bomber appeared, but Mrs. Clinton stopped the guards from opening fire. "She talked to the man in his own language and got him [to] surrender. She found that he had suffered terribly as a result of policies of George Bush. She defused the bomb vest herself." Then she turned to his wounds. "She stopped my bleeding and saved my life. Chelsea donated the blood."

ATTENTION, FAMILY: THIS IS AN URGENT REMINDER.
IF YOU GET ANY CALLS FROM SOME MAJOR POLLING ORGANIZATION (PEW, GALLUP, RESMUSSEN, CNN OPINION RESEARCH CORP, WSJ, ETC.) ASKING FOR YOUR OPINION ON THE IMPORTANCE OF AL GORE STEPPING IN TO UNITE THE PARTY, TELL THEM FLATLY: "NO, I BELIEVE BARACK OBAMA ALONE CAN UNITE OUR PARTY AND OUR COUNTRY!"
CLINTONISTAS... YES! CLINTONISTAS are floating the idea of calling in Al Gore to "save' the party from division because they don't want to see Barack take the nomiation that he deserves. They are using Fox, CNN, MSNBC and even some superdelegates to poison the atmosphere with that idea. Please, DO NOT BUY ONTO THAT.
And today, they same Clintonistas, through NYT op-ed by Mario Cuomo, are suggesting that Barack must sign a pledge to make Billary the VEEP right now in order to guarantee her support. That sort of implicit blackmail - couched as an imperative for party unity - is simply unacceptable.
I have even noticed that some of ours have been approached with the idea, and they are naively circulating it via emails and on their personal Obama blogs. Please, refrain from that.
Why are some of us losing faith in Barack, panicking and spreading fear among us, at a moment when we are winning clear and clean? What is all this story about Al Gore being needed to come and save us? We have no reason to fear! Barack will win the nomination and he will unite the party for the final victory...

It simply amazes me that given all that Senator Obama has accomplished to date, it is naturally assumed that he cannot unite the Democratic party; that he can't win in November; that he will not make a strong commander-in-chief.
If I have my facts right there are more that 4 million new registered voters in Pennsylvania alone. The Obama campaign is mainly responsible for this accomplishment. There are people that have not been involved in a political campaign before that are now precinct captains and delegates for the Democratic National Convention. Obama's candidacy is an enigma in modern day politics.
Not only will he unite the Democratic Party, he will take momentum into the November election, because he has what it takes to be a leader.

I have a new idea (maybe its not new at all) that may help introduce new people to Obama:
I know a lot of people who have not heard and do not know enough about Obama. Being older they are not too internet savvy. Besides they are also too busy to sit down and peruse the website. But I know that every morning and afternoon they required to be stuck in their cars and stuck in traffic. So we could make it easier for them: turn off the radio and turn on a CD titled "The Essential Obama Audio", which consists mainly of his key speeches, and some audio of ads, key endorsements, bio, etc. Either the campaign can provide these CD's at an affordable price or, better still, have a depository where we can download mp3's and burn our own personalized CD.
Just a thought,

This is a great idea. Earlier today someone asked for podcasts of major speeches, and this would dovetail nicely. If we could get mp3 audio of those speeches, we could make our own CDs.
I know it'd probably settle me down a fair bit to listen to "A More Perfect Union" on the one day a week I drive my car (and in commuter traffic, to boot).

Oh *yes*! I have been thinking the same thing. I think back to when I was trudging thru slush and freezing rain, knocking on doors for Barack before our RI primary... I wish I'd had CDs like the ones you describe to hang on doors and not the (unwaterproof) literature.
I wish we could get CDs to every voter in PA. I would most likely toss out a door hanger or brochure w/out reading it but I would be too curious about a CD not to listen to it. I think most people who'd heard about Barack's speeches would at least give them a listen. Should include a link to the website, too.
People who don't get it about podcasts, downloads, burning their own CDs, they all listen to CDs. Everyone knows how to shove 'em into the slot... It's like "viral" for old people, technophobes, and the cyber-clueless among us.
How much more expensive are CDs in bulk than print material? How much more expensive are CDs w/ volunteer door-to-door distribution than buying drive-time radio spots? Most people would pop in a CD to listen to while driving to/from work. (Especially good if they listen to it instead of hate radio blabber. A real, positive alternative.)
Barack's campaign has made good use of the Internet and now it's time to reach back to the demographics that don't use the Web and engage them, too.
Oh please, let's do this! Can we do this?

shows us we shouldn't talk always about "change" & "hope" to skeptical PA voters.
Now I also get the "latte" & birks comment, it was a message to working class. (duh, took me a little while but I'm an espresso man ;)) I was a little annoyed about that "can Hillary step down please" earlier, I think that is done now. We need to stay focus on economy only and transparency.
Explain that Obama is the right man for this year. He is doing great, but I think it is very good to get some skeptical's guys over already now instead of waiting to the Fall.
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!
here some extracts from the link, I do like the underwear joke ;):
many people said they were wary of Obama.
''I don't care for him -- I think he's arrogant,'' said Vito Yeropoli, like Hillary. When you ask her a question about a problem, you get a plan. She'll give some kind of a solution.''
Obama, he said, talks theoretically.
Yeropoli also was put off by Wright's comments, which he called ``hate speech.''
'I can't understand it. He keeps spouting `change, change, change,' '' Paolone said. ``What's he going to change? Underwear? I don't get this guy. . . . He's got all these people mesmerized, like a cult figure.''
Jim Krawchyk,
''Hillary and her husband put us on the fast track with NAFTA, and the jobs went away,'' said Krawchyk, 71. ``Obama, he's still wet behind the ears, with a runny nose. He needs some paper towels.''

Indeed - these are bread and butter political types. I've been working in rural Ohio for the past couple weeks, with good salt of the earth people, typical middle Americans. Theory does not go over well here. They want practical solutions and concrete plans, which Barack has but hasn't communciated as well. The goood thing is he has Casey on his side, and is getting out among the avergae voters - the more people see him, the more they cone to realize that he is the right choice to lead the country now.

Can we make a new rule? Just us, the blog people, something to stick with?
Can we agree that if we want to say something negative or vent about the competition, we also need to say something positive about why we're here, and what this campaign is really about?
Sometimes when I feel like I want to vent, I challenge myself to do just that -- and in the end, I don't need to be negative, I can find a different way to frame it or say it or maybe discover that I don't have very much venom left after all.
I feel like we should all take a lesson away from the very video this blog post is about. Obama didn't harp on Senator Clinton for anything except the plain facts. And he didn't frame those facts in a way that made the whole thing sound negative. He framed them in a way that reminded everybody that accountability is key.
I'm accountable for what I say here. And what I really want to say is this: the way Barack Obama handles himself, criticism, his responsibilities, and his campaign is the reason I think he's the best candidate for the Democratic nomination -- and for the presidency.
Can I get a "YES WE CAN"?

I reminded a Clinton and Obama supporter of this fact last night. In a proportional system, a 150+ delegate lead is huge. It took 12 straight wins with an average of 33% to do this. If this was a winner take all system, then by all means i would say she has more than a shot, but it's not.
I guess many of the pundits or talking heads failed math and statistics. And this is why many Hillary supporters still think its close.

Barrack Obama appeared to have scored a clear victory over Hillary Clinton on Saturday in the second step of Texas' multi-tiered process for selecting its delegates to the Democratic National Convention. With results available from about half of the district conventions held statewide, the Associated Press reported that Obama had won 59 percent of the delegates headed to the state party's June convention to Clinton's 41 percent. That translates into 1,858 delegates for Obama and 1,270 for Clinton.

James Carville and his wife, Mary Matalin, are moving their family back to Louisiana, which to me is perhaps the clearest sign yet that people close to Senator Clinton believe she won't ultimately get the nomination.
This is the man who repeatedly called Bill Richardson a "Judas" for endorsing Barack Obama. I encourage you to look up both Carville and Matalin on wikipedia.
And as much as admit I have enjoyed Carville's acerbic wit and Ragin' Cajun style over the last 15 years, I don't think he has a single thing in common with the values, ideals, or attitude of Obama's campaign. I won't miss him.

In fairness, I think Carville overall was good for Bill Clinton's presidency -- this was before he became a CNN reporter, as far as I know. As I say, I enjoyed his approach to things during that time, but times have changed and this campaign is different.
Ironically, one of Carville's three main talking points for Bill's 1992 presidential campaign was "Change vs. more of the same."

shows us we shouldn't talk always about "change" & "hope" to skeptical PA voters.
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!
here some extracts from the link,(better to read the entire article) I do like the underwear joke ;):
"many people said they were wary of Obama."

I've received emails from people who are interested and I have one possible location, but would love to receive more possible locations specifically in Philly, and the more visible the better!
So if you have a house or store or know of someone who does and would love an Obama mural painted- let me know.

...The Hill gang are like teens. If you have ever had one, or if you have ever been one yourself, remember when that hormonal/obstinate age, when they were told to do something and would do the opposite just to be ornery. That's kind of like the Clinton posse at this point in time. They are pushing back real hard right now, because people are telling them what they can and can't do and they've got their shackles up and that is bringing this resistance. So, let's just do our own thing, and let them come to terms with the demise of their campaign on their own. I predict in-fighting and $ problems and the dawning of reality on the supporters.
I have this very distinct mental picture. Close your eyes (o.k. only after you read this):
There's a big grassy field and two very large groups of people are on the opposite ends of that field. One group is yelling and sniping and making rude noises amongst themselves and rude hand gestures to the other group. The other group is oblivious to the cranky group. They are too busy playing frisbee, there are dogs running around, there is a band playing, everyone is dancing and singing and laughing. Once in a while someone might catch on the air, an irritating sound from the other side of the field, they'll glance over, shrug at all the commotion and just start partying again, briefly wondering why anyone would want to be in that other group, so far across the field, away from the fun.
Now which group do you want to be in?

You can read their "About Us" page here:

They are planning a movie just like this one about Obama when he is the nominee. Please don't give them credit now, as it will be hard to take back when they turn their sights on Barack Obama.
Ann Coulter, present in the film and perhaps the most right-wing of right-wing commentators, has "endorsed" Hillary for the Democratic nomination.

Wolf Blitzer is so biased against Barack Obama it's not even funny. He continues to portray the race as "neck and neck" despite an almost mathematical elimination of the Clinton campaign. He always gives more time to Clinton surrogates. I have lost respect for him as a journalist.

Yeah WOLF is annoying! I can't stand how he stutters & stumbles over his words. I think he is envious of Barack's oratory skills! LOL! When Jack Cafferty showed the infamous sniper reel of Hilary, Wolf tried to cover for her with some B.S. about "well there was still a war going on" and Jack said "Did you see the picture with the girl?!" Then Wolf cowered with his tail between his legs! I was rolling on the floor laughing!!!!!

He is so transparently pro-Clinton. I have never had any respect for him, so losing respect is pretty impossible.
I do feel your pain, and welcome you to vent and rant whenever you need.
Just wait until Obama is the nominee, Wolf will change sides and you will see him probably become very uncomfortable!! LOL!!

I have never heard Hillary say those words until tonite on CNN as sated above. Just wanted to share my thoughts on how much this campaign has changed my life. Middle aged white and former head-in-the-sand republican, I joined the campaign right after Obama announced and have been working with my daughter for months. But nothing has been as rewarding as to join with Dallas grassroots and Obama staff in bringing the results of the March 4 Texas primary and caucus to a clear win today. At 2am Friday night, with only 8 volunteers left at Dallas headquarters, we were being guided by the lawyers to respond to each and every bogus Clinton credential challenge. They dumped them on us late in the afternoon and all had to be responded to before the conventions on Saturday. As a delegate myself I was able to see how the Clinton campaign tried to stall the democratic process in my Senate district, holding up the process while credentials had to assess each challenge. I am certain that part of the plan was to get delegates to tire and go home. So to those of you wonderful Obama Texans who stuck it out...what a feeling, huh? I have never been prouder of my state, my Obama family, and myself. And how wonderful the paid Obama staff was! We won Texas and we will win the nomination and I am, for the first time in my life, proud to be an American and know what that means.

Hi fellow Hussein,
Only US citizens or permanent residents (green card holders) can make monetary contributions to our campaign as per the information provided on the donation page.
Ways in which those from overseas can contribute is by blogging (like you're doing now) by holding other politicians/media accountable for what they say and report(like you did when you wrote to your politicla party in Canada).
You can also join our phone bank and make calls to various states that will hold nomination primaries soon eg. PA, NC, IN, WV, OR.
Also, you may be able to get in touch with Americans living in Canada-get to know which candidate they prefer, why they prefer that candidate and talk to them about why you like Barack and what his platform/positions are on the issues and how they compare.
Hope that helps

I have an idea but isn't sure if this is okay.
Since I am longing to get my hands on some Obama merchandise, perhaps someone whom we trust on this campaign .... like a regular known blogger here (so that we know for sure he money will be used for the pruposes of promoting Obama) ... can sell some of the stuff on eBay .... and the proceeds be used to complement the campaign like maybe purchase airline tickets for supporters who want to go canvassing, phone cards, or buy food for the local meets .... is this illegal? Just use the proceeds (the profits from the sale that is) in some way that contribute to the campaign efforts without breaking campaign regulations. Or are there independent efforts by supporters that can be done without breaking the rules? Maybe create a People around the World for Obama or something.

"Holtz-Eakin said McCain's policy would harness "the power of competition to produce greater coverage for Americans." Because McCain's plan would lower the cost of healthcare through competition, Holtz-Eakin said, it would reduce costs for consumers with or without preexisting conditions."
We've known all about "harnessing the power of competition". Funny how it never seems to work in favor of the consumer when it comes to big fundamental things like health care, energy, military contracts...

You got that right. Congress and HRC put the fox in charge of the hen house 12 years ago, or so, and it's been downhill ever since. CEO salaries go up, clerk and administrative salaries in the insurance companies go up, premiums go up, provider fees go down, benefits go down.
Besides that, as Barack's statement above tells us, a couple of companies are taking over the whole thing (and thus controlling providers even more). It was supposed to be more efficient. Hasn't turned out that way at all. Hospitals going for profit was supposed to be more efficient. Hasn't turned out that way at all.
And now, getting the health care system back to prevention and not for profit isn't going to be easy.

Elizabeth Edwards has incurable cancer!!! Obviously health care is the biggest issue for her. We all make our decisions based on what is foremost in our lives -- our experiences, our beliefs.
We want everyone to "perform" on our time frame. But lets cut these folks some slack. John has suffered defeat in his presidential ambitions twice now. He has got to be overcoming that emotionally. It's tough when a dream doesn't become a reality. His wife and partner has limited time -- even though she says her cancer is being controlled. Their children are still so little. I admire them for continuing on with optimism and wanting to continue to be part of the national dialog.
He will endorse when he does. We will still be victorious.

We can all speak out about what we don't like! We need to stand for what we do - It's sad she nor her husband has made that decision!
I get that she's ill, but she's alright financially - her husband is a millionaire and they have healthcare - that's not an issue for her.
What is also sad is that thousands of Americans will be diagnosed with a disease requiring immediate attention and they won't be able to get the help they need.
What would be powerful is if she stood up and said if I were the one of thousands of women who don't have health care during a crisis I would want a plan that included xyz.
That's effective and does more than put others down who are fighting for healthcare reform!

My 35 year old sister died of breast cancer five years ago. Hers, too, metastisized to her bones, as well as liver and brain. She left behind two children the same age as the Edwards
little ones. She did not have the insurance plan that the Edwards' have. She only had medicaid. In her memory, I will not be bitter towards Elizabeth about the insurance matter. When faced with death, she had a strength that was inpenetrable, as I am sure Elizabeth has. She had to for her children. She told people that her cancer was under control until she went into a two day coma and never spoke again. It was under "control" because she received chemo EVERY week for 9 months to prolong her life. She died within 2 weeks of discontinuing treatment. One thing we learned is that no matter what kind of insurance we have, there is no survival when this has spread. Elizabeth is going through this and their family should be spending every moment saying goodbye. There are plenty of endorsements to go around. At this point, that should be the furthest thing from John's mind. With all the love and compassion around here, it should be the furthest from ours. Instead, why can't we just flood his website with e-cards, expecting nothing in return. In honor of Maggie. That is what she would have liked.

I remember taking in a homeless person who died in my home within a week of leaving the hospital - she didn't have health insurance and could have lived had she received treatment for her colon cancer during the early stages. She didn't have much to leave the world but her words.
Even if you don't have much - you do have something. Words are powerful they live beyond our lives.
I'm belive that Elizabeths words can be used to bring about change too.
But I understand your point as well as Kristy's
Thank you both!

On another note: the war. This is what kind of person Maggie was. On the morning of 9/11, while I ran around her sick bed talking of wiping out Afghanistan, she calmly said, "Turn the other cheek." I was dumbfounded. She said she knew how it felt to have limited time. She said many more innocent people would die needlessly. She told me noone would sacrifice their own life the way these terrorists did without a very strong belief. She said America was a respected superpower around the world and instead of revenge, it was an opportunity to show the entire world our compassion and true strength by banding together with our allies to understand this atrocity and ensure that it would never be repeated in any land. She said to let it end here because if we didn't, we would wind up fighting on other fronts as well. I couldn't fathom this line of thought. I attributed it to the brain tumor. She died shortly before we invaded Iraq.

Sheila Jackson-Lee gets booed by Houston Dems
Video from Senate District 13 (Harris County), where there were 3627 delegates (and an estimated 5000+ people present):
The crowd was overwhelmingly African-American, and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee had to wait a couple of minutes for the booing and Obama-chanting to subside. She kept repeating, "I'll wait for you to stop."
She is one of the Texas superdelegates, and her constituents are leaning on her to reverse her support for Hillary.

I always have admired Sheila Jackson. I do not know what favors she owes the Clintons-because most of her surrogates have some reason to be chained by them. They seem to think everyone owes them something. Look what they did to Richardson, because he thought from his heart and own mind. They hang their friends out to dry if they do not do as they are told by Bill and Hill.

March 30, 2008
CLINTON ADMITS CAUCUS DEFEAT BUT MARGIN IN DISPUTE
Hillary Clinton's campaign concedes losing the first two steps of the "Texas Two Step" caucuses to Barack Obama. What's still in dispute is the former first lady's margin of defeat.
Clinton, of course, won the popular vote on March 4, netting her four Texas delegates via the March 4 primary. But Obama's lopsided victory in the caucuses erased her lead. Obama folks say he netted nine delegates in the caucuses. Do the math and the Illinois senator would have five more pledged Texas delegates than Clinton, a 99-94 split. That's how CNN projected it weeks ago.
But while Clinton's top Texas honcho, Garry Mauro, acknowledged losing the county-level conventions to Obama Saturday and Sunday, he said it was too soon to make precise delegate predictions. He agreed Obama was ahead Sunday night, but said it was between one and three pledged delegates statewide.
"It looks like he’s got a small lead, but it’s a lot smaller than it was on Election Night,’’ Mauro said
That the two presidential candidates are still fighting so intensely over what appears to be at most three Texas delegates -- weeks after voters went to the polls -- indicates just how bitterly contested the 2008 Democratic race has become. Obama leads Clinton nationally by about 125 delegates, depending on who’s doing the counting.
Obama thanked his Texas supporters in a statement released by his campaign Sunday night.
“I want to thank the record-setting number of Texans who participated in the caucuses and helped our campaign secure an important victory in Texas,” said Obama. “Texans from across the state sent a crystal clear message that families across America are ready for change in Washington.”

BARACK OBAMA WINS CAUCUSES, HAS TEXAS DELEGATE LEAD
Barack Obama dominated Hillary Clinton in round two of the state caucus process over the weekend, leaving the Illinois senator poised to win more pledged national delegates from Texas despite narrowly losing the popular vote a few weeks ago.
The results won’t truly be official until the Democrats meet at their state party convention in June, but Obama’s legendary organizational strength -- helping him win 14 of the last 17 caucuses, including the one here –- all but assures he’ll leave Texas with more pledged delegates than Clinton.
The Clinton campaign, which had strongly criticized the caucuses as chaotic and prone to shenanigans, hadn't issued a statement as of late Sunday afternoon. The Obama campaign declared victory Saturday evening. Based on unofficial numbers provided by Burnt Orange Report and the Associated Press, Obama will have a net gain of at least three and probably five pledged national delegates from Texas. CNN earlier projected a net gain of five.
Of course there are still 35 Texas superdelegates who can pick whomever they wish. Nearly half remain uncommitted as of now, recent surveys have shown.

This just illustrates why everyone hates the Clintons- the March 4 tally had Obama ahead 56/44 in the caucus- which gave him a 38-29 split of delegates. However, this had no superdelegates in it. For Clinton to get her 30-37 split of delegates, she need only get the margin down to 55.96%. If you simply take 345 state superdelegates and split them down the middle that will reduce the margin down to 55.96%. Therefore, nothing happened on March 30 except the obvious...and there was no Clinton victory.

Let's approach this logically- if Obama has a 10% lead in the pledged delegates- it is only logical that he should have a 10% lead or more in superdelegates....so if Clinton has 250 supers, and Obama has 215 supers, he needs 60 supers just to get to parity- where he should be...
the powers that be should be able to orchestrate around 60 supers that would come out and put things at parity....which would end this. I believe the party is making this much more difficult than it has to be...logically this can be accomplished without piling on....Clinton built her lead in supers when they thought they were rubber stamping something, and clearly most of these people would love to have their vote back...
Clinton is then free to carry on and run out the schedule, but of course this would turn off the spigot on the fundraising, which will end this, but that should have happened a long time ago....there is no way on god's green earth that so much money should be spent on an intramural fight.
This illustrates why why the Democrats have only controlled the White House for 12 of the last 40 years.

You have more delegates, much more money, you’re John McCain to her Mike Huckabee.
So why act as if she’s on equal footing? Because the Clintons are acting as if they are, and the Obama camp is letting them. Her floating the idea of him working for her a few weeks ago was genius. This is causing real problems for Sen. Barack Obama. The answer isn’t for Sen. Hillary Clinton to quit, it’s for Obama to convince her supporters to abandon her.

That's exactly right. We may wish she would quit, but it's not in the least bit useful to pursue it, and definitely not effective to be seen as pursuing it.
We have the lead and we must influence her supporters to move from away her in numbers. And we can't vilify them in the process.
That's going to take voter by voter work.

This whole thing about Obama saying HRC has the right to stay in this is brilliant- it is as someone alluded to- the equivalent of when the Clintons offered Obama the VP- you are assuming the upperhand....the more they can make her seem like Mike Huckabee the better...even if the press defends her it is irrelevant...because it only undermines her more when they start talking about letting the American people have their say because it turns into a philosophical argument about the democratic process as opposed to an argument as to who is winning. When HRC is stumping she is starting to sound like Hucakbee saying she is in it until someone reaches 1191.

Even the media from foreign country can appreciate and speak good about a good leader like Barack Obama. Fox News Network who leads the main stream media is too busy bashing Barack Obama because of his race. You have CLOSET RACIST like Sean Hannity leading the smear campaign as others engage too. I agree with the foreign media when they talk about the Bush Administration but of course Sean Hannity thinks George Bush was a great president. He is too dumb to see that Bush has really destroyed the United States around the world. A CLOSET RACIST like Sean Hannity doesn't know much because he still think people doesn't see that he is one of the biggest racist around along with Pat Buchanan.
It is time for America to stand up and stop allowing people like Sean Hannity, Pat Buchanan, and Steve Doocy to name a few from causing racial division in America.
The foreign media can at least report the Democratic Race correctly. They even said that Barack Obama has pulled way ahead of Hillary Clinton while our media is still calling it a close race. As you can see Barack Obama race doesn't matter to foreign media, they just report the Democratic Presidential Nomination the way it is while our media loves to "MISSPEAK" like Hillary Clinton.
Please see the video of the foreign media discussing the Presidential Election:

CLINTONISTAS... YES! CLINTONISTAS are floating the idea of calling in Al Gore to "save' the party from division because they don't want to see Barack take the nomiation that he deserves. They are using Fox, CNN, MSNBC and even some superdelegates to poison the atmosphere with that idea. Please, DO NOT BUY ONTO THAT.
And lately, they same Clintonistas, through NYT op-ed by Mario Cuomo, are suggesting that Barack must sign a pledge to make Billary the VEEP right now in order to guarantee her support.
"Time for Hillary to drop Out" from the "Little Brother Forum" by I believe Chris Pearson.
Hillary Lends Her Campaign $5 Million – Where Did the Money Come From?
Last week, in this space I wrote that Bill Clinton’s business dealings around the world could create a conflict of interest with respect to Hillary’s position in the U.S. Senate and her candidacy for President of the United States.
According to the New York Post: “Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton loaned her campaign $5 million from her personal bank accounT, officials acknowledged today — a surprising twist in the deadlocked race for the Democratic nomination… Clinton’s fundraising for January paled in comparison to rival Sen. Barack Obama’s officials said.”
Now, candidates have from time to time drawn significant funds from their personal accounts to cover campaign expenses. But Hillary Clinton's husband is a former president who uses his history in the White House to leverage business deals in an unprecedented fashion. The former president has traveled the world accumulating tens of millions of dollars in speaking fees from foreign interests (such as Dubai and Chinese communist interests). He also seems to have struck business deals with companies that don’t require him to work or to assume any financial risk.
For example, The Wall Street Journal reported that Bill Clinton is due to receive a $20 million buyout from billionaire businessman Ron Burkle’s Yucaipa Companies. By Burkle’s own estimate, Clinton averaged about 500 hours per year, or 10 hours per week, on the Yucaipa business without making any financial investment. To say that’s a sweetheart deal is a gross understatement.
Question: What does Burkle expect in return for his generosity? And what about Bill Clinton’s other financial angels, many of whom reside overseas?
Hillary shares a bank account with her husband, payments to Bill Clinton are, in effect, payments to her. It was bad enough that she was a senator on the indirect take, but this is especially troubling now that Hillary has decided to use these assets to get elected president. Is there any real doubt that Bill’s business and speaking fee payments were de facto campaign contributions? Dubious foreign interests just give it to the Clintons directly. And now that money is being laundered, clean as a whistle, into Hillary’s campaign coffers.

Obama is saying implicitly that when you are elected you are obliged to serve those who funded/invested in your campaign.
It follows that if special interests/lobbysts finance your campaign, you will become beholden to them and the ordinary American will become the victim of the politics as usual.
On the other hand a president who is elevated to office by the funds of ordinary people will focus on the needs of those who paid for his elevation.
Hillary is bankrolled by the lobbysts and this relationship imposes an obligation on her to look after their interests before those of the ordinary voters. The NAFTA "take it as a grain of salt" illuminates the core of this argument.
Obama whose hands are not tied to by lobbysts will more freely focus on the needs of the ordinary people who financed and voted him into office.

Okay CNN, I think that the American people deserve to know about the Hillary v.s. Paul case that is set for trial on April 25th. I feel that we need the media to report on these things so that we can make a sound decision. Why have you kept silent about the deception and lies continue to reign in this campaign

Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the March 31st morning news content!
For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.
I run a blog that compiles pretty much every major news article and commentary that comes out each day about Senator Obama. My hope is that it's a useful tool for those who want to keep up with everything going on in the campaign. I also contribute my own commentary as well.
I hope this is helpful to everyone.
