I read some of the articles online with respect to the bailout situation. I found it interesting that Sec. Paulson and the Bush Administration wanted a "clean" bill and wanted it passed swiftly. This got me to thinking - why the rush? Why is it that the Bush Administration seeks to pass things in a hurried fashion? Answer - so you don't have time to think. And that in a nutshell is the difference in this election. Sen. McCain criticized Sen. Obama for not coming in a plan as fast as he did. There is the old saying - "Measure twice, cut once." That is what Obama does. This is the benefit of having been a community organizer. This is the benefit of knowing how to think. This is the mark of a leader. For 8 years we have watched the GOP and shortsightedness. What have we gained from this? The biggest deficit in history. We need a leader who has a long term strategy - not one who proudly declares that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" one day and then explains the next that the "fundamentals of our economy" refers to the American worker?! I'm still trying to comprehend that turn of phrase.
Sadly the GOP candidates do not see things in terms of long term vision. They want to put a bandaid on the problem. If it doesn't work, then put on another bandaid. Easy fix. Fortunately the OBAMA/BIDEN campaign that if you have a deep wound you don't just put a bandaid on it. You clean it out first to get rid of the debris and then you bandage it in order that it may heal properly.
So, my question is this - do we need a bandaid slapped on the problem or do we need to clean it out first and then let it heal properly layer by layer?
Shortsightedness for possible short term gain and long term catastrophe (McCain)or strategic long term vision for our future - our children (Obama)?
