Clintons' exaggerated response to Shuster comment

David Shuster certainly used a poor choice of words in describing Chelsea Clinton's role in her mother's campaign. However, the Clinton's are over dramatizing and elevating this incident in the news to play the victim role and win sympathy from baby boomers with children. Because it is so obvious, it comes across as phony indignation and I think it will backfire. Hillary recently claimed to want more debates, but she threatened to boycott future MSNBC debates due to Shuster's remark. That seems to me like a kneejerk overreaction to a minor incident. Why would she want to attack an entire network and have a negative impact on her campaign just because one reporter made a mistake? Because by attacking the network she can effect its reporting on other issues related to the Clintons (Similar to what the Bush Admin did to Dan Rather and CBS) and because by threatenting to boycott debates it gets the issue into another news cycle. If the Clinton's really felt it was insulting to their family they would not be doing everything they can to get it back into the news. People are tired of political theatre, and the more of it that gets integrated into the Clinton campaign the more people will see that Barrack is the clear choice to put sincerity, honesty and integrity back in the White House.

Hold the Debate Anyway | Report to Admin

I just made a blog post about an hour ago on the same topic you did. While I agree that some of the Clintons' motivation might be to get sympathy, I also see it as a larger pattern of government intimidation of the media. This govenmental intimidation resulted in the media being governmental lapdogs instead of governmental watchdogs and resulted in the New York Times leading cheers in the runup to the Iraq war. This media complicity with government propaganda is one of the things wrong with government today.

I would love to see NBC hold the debate anyway. If Hillary doesn't show up, so what.
