I went to search for an event that I could attend near my hometown and saw that the closest thing was in Chicago! And while I would love to have my daughter see me involved in improving the country, that is pretty far to travel with a four year old for something that will probably not hold her interest.
Do I need to create my own event? I am hoping in time (the website is only two days old) that more people in my area will become part of the Obama site and we can organize something. By "organize something," I mean get together, have a discussion, be realistic about the time and energy we can put into this campaign, and do what little (or lot) that we can.
Perhaps we don't need an event? Perhaps this can be done online? But there is something inspirational about Democrats uniting in Indiana and faces to put with that would be something I would like, at least once.
