Do a search on Etsy.com for "Obama" and you will probably be amazed at the amount and types of art/craft being made and inspired by the Obama campaign. As we approach this landmark election season artists and craftspersons are feeling inspired to bring the grass-roots elements of the campaign into their studios. As an artist/craftsperson myself, I'm excited to see it and to participate in it.
At the end of last week, I started the process to start a new group here on my.barackobama.com focused on DIY in relation to the Obama campaign. I'll probably blog some of the indie crafters whose work reflects this current drive to take a very real place in the effort to see Barack Obama elected President of the United States of America. Once the group is live, I'll write a more comprehensive post about what I'm trying to share. Until then, consider popping over to Etsy to take a look at some of the cool Obama goodies. Many of the craftspeople involved are donating part or all of the proceeds from their sales to the campaign. And speaking of DIY and donations to the campaign fund, Ravelry Knitters for Obama is having
a great fundraising drawing.
With donations of everything from yarn to finished knitwear, there's something for almost everyone. (If you're not into knitting, or knitwear, consider donating and entering the drawing anyway. Knitwear makes great gifts.)
