In the beginning they said we couldn't win. He said "Yes we can", and we did.
In two days, Barack Obama will become the 44th president of the United States, and we all had a part in making that happen.
He is now calling on us to continue our efforts and respond to his call to service. I hope that we will continue to do our best to make him proud, as he will be doing his best to make us proud.
We will also need to do our part in calming down the expectations. President Elect Obama has continuously told us that getting this country back on track will take a long time. Did we hear him? Do we expect him to get in there and wave a magic wand? There is no magic wand. It will take a lot of work by a lot of people for a long time. Let's be realistic about our expectations. I trust his judgement and have all the faith and hope in the world, but I know it will be some time before things get better, and things may get a lot worse before they get better.
I know that the Galloway group was not very active, as most of us were involved with other groups in the greater Columbus area. As we get back to our busy lives, I hope to continue to use this group as a form of communication for us to schedule events to help our local community here on the West Side. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks!
Amy Rock
