We're still awaiting the final results tonight, but one thing is clear -- this grassroots movement can never be underestimated.
Thank you to everyone who helped us make an astounding 1,053,791 calls today!
I know it wasn't easy and many of you kept calling long after you were tired and your voice had grown hoarse, but your calls to get our supporters out the polls helped tip the scales in key battleground states like Pennsylvania and Ohio.
We've shut down our calling campaigns for the night, incredibly proud of the record amount of calls made today. You gave it your all and we couldn't have asked for more.
Thank you again for everything you've done. You've been with Barack Obama every step of this journey. This is your night.

JOE RUWE, your fundraising prowess on this blog will never be forgotten!!! Tonight's victory can be credited to all the sweat and blood and spouse's ignorance that we have contributed to this campaign... From our fundraising, our late night non-sleeping, our door-knocking, our phonebanking... We have committed everything we can to this cause.
However, our work here isn't done... We have to still work tirelessly to materialize that Change.
Until then, IT'S CELEBRATION TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, this night truly belongs to two women who raised one son and grandson - And every one of us, every woman who has given her all to that quest, recognized Barack Obama immediately. I thought I'd knocked on my last door decades ago. I'm so glad I was wrong.
Mr. President,
Congratulations, pack up the memories and the lessons and the courage they gave you. Off to Washington - stake the claim for all of us Barack.

Oh, yes. You are right.
I honor Barack's mother and grandmother and I honor my own. I am humbled by everyone who walked before me to make this miracle happen. This is the greatest day for America in my lifetime.
I am a 42-year-old white woman from Kentucky now living in California. I thank God for this moment and for being part of this fight. Making calls from Los Angeles today was a profound experience.
While I was calling for change in California this morning, my 76-year-old white mother was an Obama voter in Kentucky today. We knew the state would go "red" and she was so afraid he wouldn't win. But he did. I told her to hang on, to have hope, but she had witnessed too much and she had fear. My mom was born in Kentucky in 1932 as daughter to my grandmother, who was born there in 1900. I was born there in 1966. To think our three generations of women spanned the entire 20th Century fighting for change is truly awesome.
My grandmother died many years ago but I am so grateful my mother got to see this day, to vote on this day, to cry tears of joy on this day. I'm so glad I was able to be on the phone with her while we both screamed at the top of our lungs when Barack was declared our new president.
Now we can go forward. YES WE CAN.

CONGRATULATIONS BARACK!!!!
I am sooo proud of you! Thank you for everything you're doing. I know you're in the transition period and i just saw your 1st press conference about the economy. I don't know a lot about economics but it sounds pretty bad. I was wondering if we can organize a way to help out. I was wondering if those of us who want to help can talk to our local radio stations, tv stations etc. and donate to get ourselves out of debt. I figure with 62 million votes on election day a few of us are more than willing to donate 20 dollars a week or $100 dollars a month to get us out of debt. 62 million times $100 dollars sounds like a quick fix. Can we do it? Can we volunteer to help raise money to save our economy once Barack Obama takes office? I'm hoping you can help organize us to help out. With 62 million votes can Barack supporters raise money to get us out of debt? Also, organize volunteers to help out our infrastructure?

Home alone in NH--I hear you loud and clear. I don't feel alone tonight--I feel connected all over this country. Imagine all those people working for Barack, then other registering--even tonight for the first time--and standing in lines to vote--I'm reminded of the lines in South Africa in the first election where the majority black population could vote.

How come none of the candidates came to California (except to Hollywood) to visit and see us?
We do exist. We may live in the high desert, inland empire or over the grapevine but I think California is getting lost in the wood works. There is more to CA then Hollyweird, excuse me I mean Hollywood.

We hope that you all may in your own way Celebrate this evening.
We have some time to enjoy this .
But NEVER forget. The True work lies ahead.
Campaigns are easy. WORDS are easy. We must from the ground up rebuild all that has crumbled. For far too long we have turned a blind eye to those things we have seen crumbling and often said, "Well it doesn't affect ME so why should I care? "
Well now we must ALL care both in Words and in Deeds.
I'm not so much excited for Obama. I'm more excited to see what we can do as a people.

This is a great celebration however, can we and will we be willing to struggle to get our country back on the right course? Will you be one to lay down when times get tough or are you willing to fight and sacrafice to get this glorious country back on her feet again? I hope so.

How many of you can truly say that you are Ready for Change?
It's easy to cast a ballot. It's easy to say, that horrible behavior, that's not me.
But can you get up each morning and rededicate yourself with renewed vigour. Can you "CHANGE" what you do and how you behave?
Can we truly "CHANGE"? Somebody obviously believes in you.
Belief is the first step.
Yes We can.

This is great.
But if our schools are still second rate.
If we allow Inner City Public Schools to continue to be underfunded and to spend their budgets on metal detectors rather than books,
If we live in our cars driving on highways sealed off to the world, and don't realize that somewhere there's a child, a bright child, who can help us all and we are turning him against us.
If we place a poster up on a wall and call it CHANGE, then we have failed.

Enjoy the feelings tonight. Have BIG smiles on your faces and in your hearts. Sleep well tonight. This one could not be stolen - the tsunami of 'get out the vote' after all the organizing swamped the republican voter suppression. Do NOT forget this. Again, enjoy tonight. Sleep well tonight. DO NOT forget that we can CONTINUE with this forum and this organization to CONTINUE to help and work with Mr Obama and Mr Biden in the months and in the years ahead. I've learned a lot...from the people I've talked to in Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Montana, and Wisconsin through the Obama phonebanks. I'll probably never forget the 95-year-old man from Ohio who told me, "I'll get to the polls tomorrow...even if I have to crawl there."
We've been blessed to share in this experience and to have a part in improving our lives and the lives of millions of others in ways that are immeasurable now. I've been accused of "drinking the Kool-aid." All I can say is that it is SOOOO much sweeter than the vinegar of the past eight years. So, yes, I'll have another glass.
A huge thanks to the people who coordinated and organized the lists for those of us who manned the phonebanks. You did an AWESOME job!

We had never met before yet were instant friends because we shared a passion for our country and belief in the man who would be (and now is! ) President (elect). We stopped every once in a while and rubbed our arms, shoulders, hands...among the 3 of us we also shared diagnosis of MS, osteoporosis, lupus, arthritis, spine trauma...but we all agreed we forgot the pain for a few hours while we made those calls. This is what America is about...from the young folks who walked and knocked on doors to those who opened their homes to 3 old women who called and reminded others that the future was in their hands. I've never felt inspired enough before to ever get involved in a campign. President (and I say that with a grate deal of pride) Obama inspired me to believe that this country can and WILL do better.
I only canvassed in Manasses VA 1 time & I met a couple of folks that that thanked me for the work I was doing & asked me to continue so I did.
I went in and worked the phone banks here in Annapolis Md, I heard voters tell me how they wish they could help out but were unable. They had either suffered medical hardships themselves and were unable or had family members how had which they were caring for and were unable to help. But they all asked me not to give up and to keep working hard, so I did.
My free time was sparce, as im making repairs to a home Im hoping to sell next year & planning a wedding next summer too ! Not to mention working full time as well !
I decided I had to keep trying, so I began the neighbor to neighbor program online calling swing states. I just took a few hours in the mornings before I worked a night shift calling ALL OVER this country !
I got sick the last week of the election, and had lost my voice. I was was pretty sad that I couldn't keep calling folks to remid them of the importance of this election.
The sunday before my voice came back enough ( at least) and I started calling again. I continued till monday afternoon when I had to stop. I found myself volenteering some more Tuesday after I had voted.
Im just SO moved right now and SO proud of america for making the decision to move forward and to begin to fix this mess we're in.
On a personal note, I feel more secure bringing childeren into this world ( with my soon to be husband ! ) knowing they will have a chance for affordable healthcare and a good education, knowing they can grow up to be anything they want to be.
Ive just never felt so proud before in my life or ever felt SO HOPEFUL.....Yes We Can !!!!!!!

OK you did it. Now prove me wrong because unlike Michelle, I'm not at my proudest moment for America. In fact, I've never been more concerned for her. At least I knew what Bill actually stood for by his voting recored. Maybe if you led by example and started redistributing your own wealth I could believe you. But then again, it is "Democrat" policy to give away someone else's money. Before you jump to conclusions, I would be at the receiving end of this one.

Tracy,
I'm 61 years old and have seen a lot of elections. I've lived through a string of presidents, good and bad and a mixture of both. And I've never been more excited than seeing Barack elected!
My husband and I worked hard all our lives. He worked full time to put himself through law school at night and I did the same for my graduate degree. No one handed us anything on a platter and we certainly did not take anyone else's wealth.
Stop being so afraid. There has been so much mud flung in this campaign that it has blinded you. Unless you personally make over 250,000$ you will not see a penny of your taxes rise. In fact you will see your taxs cut. If you do make that amount you will only see a small rise on the amount above $250,000--the same amount that was changed under the Clinton presidency (a time of prosperity).
McCain was a good guy. I supported and liked him in 2000 but I saw too many bad things happen during his presidential campaign. I frankly want the old McCain back because he was an honorable man!
Stop being afraid and give Barack a chance. You may be surprised to see what happens.
Peace and out....

I would not feel as good as I do right now, knowing there was something I could do to make a difference and not doing it. Since your website was efficient and easy to navigate, I could feel as though I contributed not only monetarily in a modest and meager way, but also with my time making phone calls and talking to other citizens across the country and feeling as though I was connecting (and sometimes not) but more importantly, feeling as though my voice was echoed by so many wonderful americans campaigning for change. Thank you Senator/President Elect Obama, for giving us a renewed vision of the positive for our country and the world. We need you and thank you for coming to our call and assisting us in what only you have been able to do. Living in the US and witnessing history like this is a privilege. The dream came true. America is back.
I am not American but French from Moroccan origins and living in Asia for 10 years. I feel global and have always made mine the very values of the American dream: these values of courage and change, this ideal of progress, this optimistic and never naïve quest for a better and equitable world.
Being a university Professor I have had hard times defending these values recently.
Yes you could!

The amazing event that happened tonight came from people knowing that working together is what it takes to make things happen. Working against each other does not bring about change. It just perpetuates what is now, that needs to change.
The miracle of this grass roots campaign, organized by the amazing campaign organizers, is how well it worked. Bringing total strangers together for the common good, working on electing the leader needed in these complex times, seemed effortless. The quiet way the whole organization worked tirelessly with the purpose of inclusiveness, respectfulness and empowerment renewed my faith in our ability to take our country back. "Yes We Can" became Yes We Did! Now the real work will begin.
I am ready, willing and able to meet the needs of community and country as we start out on a path of steady renewal of our creed. We are the United States of America and we wil remember that as we move forward.

Getting to talk to voters in TEN states today, and close to 2,000 voters around the country over the preceding weeks, was an absolutely amazing experience! THANK YOU for creating and managing the beautiful website that enabled me and so many others (thousands!) to have this extraordinary voter-to-voter contact. I have many wonderful stories that I will keep with me forever, and share with anyone who wants to hear them. We live in a better world tonight and I do not yet have words to express fully how grateful I am.

So gald to welcome you as the President Elect. I am looking forward to the next four years being better than what we have had in the past. I can say that at least on this occassion my vote counted for something good, and that I along with others help put the next president in office. As well as help to make history. While others were trying to talk me out of who I wanted to vote for I was trying to talk them into listening to reason and to the issues. They were letting the person or race stand in the way, and not what the man stood for. At least I was able to get a few to see that predjust is oudated and they really need to work on what they stood for.I am 54 years old and have found in life that there are good and bad in all walks of life, it's not the color of a persons skin that makes them who they are. It's what is in their hearts and minds. I will be proud to serve under you as President of the US of America. Thank You

Congratulations to President-Elect Obama and to Vice President-Elect Biden, but most of all to every person who over the past years and months gave to the campaign - by their donations of money and or time and with their vote. Each one has contributed to making this a new and better day for everyone, their donations of money have liberated the next administration of the lobbyist and special interest plague that has been such a negative shadow on the political panorama of this great nation.
Thank you for winning this election Mr / Senator / President (elect) Obama - thank you for giving America back her hopes and her dreams.

This is a new beginning
Dear Volunteers,
I want to thank you for what you have done to help make this effort one of We THE People.
When I went to New Hampshire to volunteer a week prior to the NH primary ~ I immediately noticed the young people who were the backbone of the Get Out The Vote effort for Barack, our President-elect. To the young generation who made the clock tick and led us well, I want to say to you how very grateful I am to you. How very proud I am to have worked with you and for you. You led the way. Out of Many We Are One as Barack Obama has repeatedly said.
I also noticed how diverse we are - those who came together to work toward this campaign's goal. Diverse in age, diverse in where we come from (I worked with those from Australia, Rwanda and Europe, as well as the USA), diverse in our ethnicities...
At 59 years old I, for the first time, got involved in a campaign. But it is the energy, dedication, determination and skills of the young people, whom I feel I owe a great debt of gratitude and humility to.
Thank you - without you we couldn't have lifted Barack Obama up and gotten to this path to journey together.
Let's not stop now. Let's stay an active part of our democracy.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people could change the world.
Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

President-Elect and family,
I would first like to thank you for your many months of sacrafice and dedication to the American people as a whole. Second for allowing us to show that we can acually turn away from division and hate, unite and become one in a cause for the better good of the nation and ourselves.
I am sitting here as a 52 year old woman crying because finally we are accepted as human and capable.
Thank you American, now we can move forward to a more prosperous and meaningful future.
God Bless and keep you safe President-elect Obama,
I shall remember to pray for you daily. That you are able to accomplish what you desired for us, that obsticles be removed from your path, and that you never lose sight of the trust and faith we put in you and your promises to us.
That your family shows patience and understanding when the road gets tough and maybe you aren't always able to be there as you and they would like.
Lastly that we the people never let it leave our minds that it is your sacrafice and desire to lead us to this new beginning with so much purpose and that those memories remnd each of us of our obligation to stand by you in the future just as we stood by you tonight.
Again, God Bless, thank you and much love.

"Fired up!" (to AKA) "Ready to go!" forward with our new president like never before. With such a huge compilation of people who worked for this campaign and this man, there will be much going forward that we can do to help support this president and the issues and goals we hold in common. CNN said there are 3 million of us who volunteered for Obama, and that we could be an effective lobbying group. Think of us calling our elected representatives around the country, and then maybe asking voters to call theirs on initiatives put forth or supported by President-Elect Obama that are important to a number of us. Effective indeed.
It is my hope that our numbers and our enthusiasm will be put to good use by this administration. Let's check back with mybarackobama to see if there is an interest in keeping and organizing us. I have a feeling there might be ... I hope so.
President-Elect Obama. Isn't that incredible? Doesn't that sound wonderful? I can hardly believe that what was a dream is now reality. But it is real, and I, for one, thank God it is so.
If I may, and if this forum might perhaps serve as a vehicle through which the sentiments of this volunteer might be passed on to President-Elect Obama, I wish to offer my heart-felt condolences and deep sympathy on the loss of his dear grandmother, as well as to expess my relief and gratitude that he was able to see her so recently.
I suffered a similar loss this summer when my mother died of cancer. I understand the pain over their passing, the relief that their suffering has ended, and the joy in knowing that they are with you, truly and always.
Imagine this grandmother's pride and faith in her grandson not only to finish this election victoriously, but to be willing and able to then lead this country with integrity, vision and hope. How full her heart must have been, and her spirit is now! May God be with you Barack, and bring comfort to you each day. Many are praying for you now, as you know, and continuously.
On a much lighter note-
CONGRATULATIONS MR. PRESIDENT-ELECT!!!!
I KNOW you're fired up! I KNOW you're ready to go! (What a wonderful story.)
And we can hardly wait!!

President-elect Obama was chosen by Americans because he is the right person to lead our great nation at this difficult time. I know he will serve us well as our leader because he has proven time and time again that he is a leader. Moreover, he has proven that he possesses the right vision to lead Americans to a prosperous, hopefully future. I hope that we as his supporters will continue to remember this and continue to be hopeful, yet realistic supporters and champions, cheering for our fine president-elect for the next eight years. I loved making some calls for Obama, however I'm wondering if the data I collected will be looked at to update the database. One lady in particular, wanted to be removed from the call list (it was a wrong number). How do I make sure that this is done?
It would be nice if there was a place to make comments about the phone call. I ended up writing inforation in the space next to 'I don't feel comfortable making this call' - but I don't know if that data will be looked at, as I checked the box next to 'wronge number' or 'left message'.
I live under poverty level, in a rural area, it would be great if Obama would give me a job I could do from home, updating the database, or whatever, on my dial up - internet connection.

The calling to other states yesterday brought us all closer together. I called Ohio, the state where I was born, and spoke with people from all over the state who were filled with enthusiasm and hope that their voices would be heard. It was so much fun to be a part of this! I have renewed faith in our democracy!

I am still crying tears of both joy and hope. I am envisioning an incredible transition for Americans and the world at large. This is a moment in time like no other....and something tells me, with President-Elect Obama (oh my, I do love the sound of that) at the helm, there will be many moments of history-making in store.
Things will always be as they should be, and this victory has happened for a reason beyond economics, beyond the Iraq war, beyond health care and social issues. It transcends party lines and racial problems. President-Elect Obama (did I mention I love the sound of that?) has been chosen to teach all of us a few things about life that we may have forgotten along the way...not the least of which is our innate ability to believe in ourselves and each other with a sincerity that keeps hope alive; to reach out to one another in difficult times - "When you are strong, someone else is weak and when you are weak, one of those strong will get you back on your feet".
My prayer is that we as a world will work together, investing in each other as necessary and remember the treasured lessons that President-Elect Obama (WOWEE!) has graciously passed on to all of us.
Patience will be required now - all good things come in due time. There is much to do and we will need to understand that 'Rome wasn't built in a day' and neither was 'Bush's mess'. Let us seek to show that same level-headedness that has been demonstrated in this ground-breaking campaign.
The world thanks all Americans for making this dream a reality with the extensive effort you've all given - bless you all...
And may God bless the world with the peace and prosperity it so desperately needs.
YES YOU DID!!!

It was wonderful wasn't it. I felt so invested in this win, cold calling was something I hate doing but the experience was actually fun and calling kept me busy and calmed my nerves, and I had a purpose and I knew I was working with thousands and thousands that had the same purpose and dream. I want to thank the campaign too. I felt, last night, like I was watching my own son win and then make the most amazing speech... so much pride in this man... so much hope...so pleased with this family (and our new national family), in the Biden's and in our potential for what we can and should be!

The duties of the White House Chief of Staff vary greatly from one administration to another. However, he/she is responsible for overseeing the actions of the White House staff, managing the President's schedule, and deciding who is allowed to meet with the President. Because of these duties, the Chief of Staff has at various times been dubbed "The Gatekeeper" and "The co-President".
(A) IF THIS GUY HAS HIS WAY, HE COULD PARALIZE THE PRESENT'S AGENDA AND RENDER HIS PRESIDENCY A FAILURE.
(B) IF HE IS A CLOSET NEOCONCONSERVATIVE, USA COULD STILL GET INVOLVED IN PROTRACTED WARS WITH IRAN AND OTHER MIDDLE EAST COUNTRIES.
(c) FAILURE TO IMPLEMENT NEOCONS PENDING AGENDA COULD RESULT IN THEIR MANUFACTURING SCANDALS SO THAT THE PRESIDENT'S POLICIES ARE HIJACKED.
President-Elect Obama must be very careful as to
who he picks as his chief of Staff.

I am so proud to have been part of this massive phone calling. It was a long day yesterday and tiring. After five hours of calling, I switched gears a bit and I went out canvassing for 1 1/2 hours with my husband. We were in a predominantly black neighborhood. What a thrill it was to see so many Obama signs in that neighborhood and to learn that all of them had been out to vote already. That gave me the energy to get back to the phones and keep calling till we couldn't call anymore.

Many calls didn't go through because I block caller ID on my cell, and some were either wrong numbers or disconnected, but I did get through to 6 people who had all voted, including an 82-yr-old man whose church had taken him to and from the polls. Hi, Amy! First of all, congratulations on a job well done! How exciting was last night? Utterly amazing.....
I need your help, if possible, please. I volunteered on a number of occasion during the past few weeks, and I received an e-mail from the Pennsylvania Campaign For Change (info@paforchange.com)asking me to volunteer. Since I am originally from PA I decided to do it and the option I chose was phone cavassing from home. I downloaded a list of about 50 names and made calls to each of them on the evening of Nov. 3rd and the morning of Nov. 4th and made the appropriate notations on my list of voters based on their responses to my calls.
The header at the top of the first downloaded page said to report my responses prior to Nov. 6th, as my list access would expire on the 6th. I've tried to figure out precisely how to do this but am unable to find any instructions on any of the websites - my.barackobama.com, paforchange.com or even maforchange.com. I've also called several phone numbers on the websites but either got no answer or am unable to leave a message as the mailbox is 'full'.
Can you give me an e-mail address where I can send the list as a PDF file so the campaign will have the information? Or can I take it to the 55 Court Street location in downtown Boston where I have volunteered and hand it in there? It is important ionformation and should be entered int he databases. Many thanks for your help.
Sincerely,
Dee Luther

Dear President Elect Obama,
I am still in shock!!! You did it, we did it! I am so very proud of America today.
I have to admit that I had great fear of the election somehow being stolen from you and had to keep moving around as the states came in. I sat in "shock and awe"(pun intended),as you were called "The President Elect" and then just burst into tears.
Not since President Kennedy has this nation been so motivated, so eager for change. I am thrilled to have lived to see this day and to know that I participated in making it happen makes it even sweeter.
I will help you in any way you need my help. The majority of America will help you too. We are all so proud and so grateful that you opened the door to our country to us again. It had been slammed shut for the last 8 years and we felt helpless.
You have given us hope, peace of mind and the determination to do whatever needs to be done to not only bring this nation back to the proud and sufficient nation it once was, but to make it even better than it has ever been!
Congratulations and know that you will be in my prayers every day.

Hurray for everyone who called until their ears were sore. Also, for next time, put more into getting the mini-volunteers--those of us who only had an hour and found that we could actually figure out what to do in just a few minutes and then put in a little time and get a sense of contributing. A hundred of us are as good as a few of the real volunteers...and we might be easier to come by if the easyness of this is properly explained.

We have now been given the opportunity to finish the age that J.F,K. forseen for our future, Diplomacy must be the meaans by which we find common ground for the world to unite . That common cause must ge greatsr than the current greed that has destroyed what we all have worked so hard fo. We have been given this opportunity to finish the vision that began decades ago. President -Elect Obama will need our Prayers and he will need to continue to be bold and hopeful, and most important thing he will have to do is go against some of that which we do not even know, or have a clue. I pray that the wisdom of J.F.K. will lead and guide him. He will succeed!

Although you have probably already considered these issues, please let me offer some thoughts on the choice of science adviser(s).
1. In the past, persons chosen have been heads of national laboratories or other large organizations. Most of them have been in management roles and not practicing scientists for some time. Many have been considered by their peers to not have been very competent in management. Try not to do this. Instead, pick senior engineers (in their 40s and 50s) who are still considered top flight and still practicing.
2. The problems ahead now lie in climate change, energy, and power production. For these you need not one person but several different specialized people: climatologists, electric power production and chemical engineers, and distribution engineers, i.e. not one but several people. Perhaps an overall leader (manager) is unavoidable, but s/he should be a senior working scientist.
3. Using national academies to provide transient technical assistance is an option, but they are slow and suffer from internal bickering. Better to establish "tiger teams" in each discipline (sort of like "kitchen cabinets") which can be called on as needed. Such teams can produce appropriate solutions in much shorter time spans.
I hope these thoughts may be of some use.
With sincere hope for the success of your Administration, I am

That was the least we could do for ourselves and the world. Am a Ghanaian and I have followed Barack's progress in this journey with prayers and faith, You cannot imagine the number of Ghanaians in west Africa who spent sleepless nights praying for Obama. And so this victory is for all of us. And we are proud of ourselves. this is our time!!!!
Now we know that there are tough times ahead but I am sure that with hard work and trust in the Lord we will get there. He is an encouragement to all Africans that we can do it, so now none of us have an excuse. Kofi Annan of Ghana proved that as a UN secretary General and now its Obama. Africa's time has come and we must not fail God.

All of my voters were contacted. Sorry, that I could't report this data sooner. Thanks to God that the change has come and Barack Obama is he VICTORY.
I was allowed to be off work and take people to the poll and vote.
I have always been a volunteer for several schools organizations, etc., but this is the only one that I can truly say I feel great and see a result that is worth a life time memory.
Well that was certainly hard work that paid off |

I also want to thank everybody who worked on this campaign... whether you sent $5 to Barack or, like one person I canvassed with on Election Day, moved to Philadelphia from Astoria, Queens, NYC and worked for three long months for the general election, and during the long Pennsylvania primary season before then. Now that's dedication.
Working on the campaign was also great fun, and we made new, if only temporary friends, as we slogged through neighborhoods, or called voters, and everything else done to help elect this worthy man.
A reunion may be nice, perhaps an Inaugural Day get-together someplace, like a restaurant or bar located close to where the South Street campaign headquarters were located.
That would be too cool.
Your thoughts?

I am a 62 year old grandma from Bellmore, N.Y., a 25 year teacher and health coordinator of the physically and mentally challenged in NYC, in a body brace, after a major fall. Calling my Pennsylvania woman, on my list, to help convince these voters, that you are not just words, but the only hope for our future brought me back to so many of the defining days in my life!! I am White....I marched for King....I watched all of the people I believed in killed to silence the possiblilty of hope...AND I KNEW YOU WERE MY VISION WHEN I LISTENED TO YOU SPEAK AT THE 2004 DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION!!
What I also find truely amazing is that all my college nephews...my married children...my married siblings...were all on board, accross the nation....and it made me feel that they were now entering the political arena in the same frame of mind as I did so many years ago.
Well we ALL did it....and I pray for you to have the strength to embrace the changes that our country faces! I thank you, and your grassroots machinery for allowing me to feel a part of this critical moment in time!!!!

Dear Mr. President,
Congratulations to you from the worldwide membership of the National Caricaturist Network (NCN) / International Society of Caricature Artists.
You may find us on the web at
Link
.
I am Buddy Rose (Wallace M. Rose, Jr.) founder of the organization. I was born in Dallas in 1951 and was there in Dallas when J.F.K. was killed. I was just a boy then and had to deliver the famous Dallas Times Herald edition of the newspaper that afternoon. I cried the whole day and then was horrified to watch Oswald silenced a few days later. That event marked forever my life. And in all aspects of my life I have done what I could to continue to live by the ideals that died then, only to be truly awakened again now. Since those days I have cried many times for my nation and on occasion became ashamed of my country. I am once again very proud and hopeful about the future.
In college I wore the long hair, was called a hippie, and studied Philosophy, working my way through school by drawing caricatures. I was active in the civil rights movement and bare the scars on my psyche. I have many stories from that era. Later I received an Art degree from U.T.D. and a few years later founded the NCN as a vehicle to help young artists and advance the craft technically. Now I can command an army of caricaturists world wide in the same order of the late great Thomas Nast, who brought down Boss Tweed and the corrupt New York political machine of the 1860’s. He also brought us our modern images of Uncle Sam and Santa Clause. I believe my extra efforts as a political cartoonist once helped defeat Ann Richards in Texas in the ‘90’s. We can and will be a potent political tool working quietly in the background with sarcasm and biting humor. Your enemies are our enemies. That is my personal pledge to you. I am someone special and I can help.
In February of 2006 I had a serious heart attack that resulted in a quadruple by-pass. I often wondered why God had saved me when others much more worthy died. It was a personal quest that took the past two years to begin to understand.
I want to continue to help.

I am writing a book on Obama volunteers’ experiences. This text will focus on meaningful and inspiring stories from your phonebanking, canvassing or other campaign journeys. If you have pictures or stories of volunteer that were significant to you and you think would have meaning to others, please send submissions to:
AdeleNicols@yahoo.com or
P.O.Box 494, Waitsfield, VT 05673
I have a particular interest in the "phonebankers". Making cold calls throughtout the United States was a unique opportunity to get to know the diverse pockets of individuals and communities that exist within our nation. I personally had some amazing discussions that I know must have been echoed by other volunteers. I am better off from the experience...and am eager to showcase your personal experiences.
Chosen submissions will be notified by January 10, 2008 and full acknowledgement will be given in the publication.
I am looking for stories that will exemplify the broad scope of voters that were either for or against Obama. My primary interest is to showcase the heart of the Obama campaign by revealing personal and transformational stories and images that were at the core of this successful campaign.
Thank you in advance for your participation. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have.
Sincerely,
We did it!
Adele

I never, EVER wanted to make cold calls for a political campaign however I felt so compelled to help Barack win that I took Tuesday off as did so many others, drove from CT to PA overnight and walked the streets, made calls and stood at the polls as a line manager on election day.
Never before had I been interested in doing this but I'd do it again in a second after seeing that man drive up to the polls for his first time ever, hugging an Obama lawn sign and so excited he was bubbling over with a grin from ear to ear to be going to cast hsi vote for Barack! He was so excited that he ran into the polling place with that sign still clutched in his arms. He came running back out stuck it in the ground outside the door and asked me to make sure no one took it on him, turned an ran back in to vote. After voting, he grabbed that sign, smile still ear to ear, and hopped in his car SO filled with hope for the future that I will never forget his face or that moment because that is what this movement is all about.
As I drove home Tuesday night after a 13-hour day in a small town in PA and I received the text from my wife that Barack had taken PA I had to feel that I was just a small part of the reason that he won.
And I just know that man hugging the lawn sign was jumping for joy along with me!
