I wouldn't count out Arkansas. Not at all.

Zogby conducted a huge opinion poll of 50,000 people June 11-30.

At Link, they have results for no fewer than 33, yes, 33 individual states.

Arkansas was one of those states.

And Arkansas is, yes, TIED.

Here are the Arkansas stats, which have a margin of error of +/-4.7 points:

Obama - 41%
McCain - 39%
Barr - 4%
Nader - 1%
Someone else - 8%
Undecided - 8%

Yes, it's startling and inspiring. But wait; there's more.

I don't look at polls' figures in the way you see above. I convert those figures to ranges, based on the margin of error. Here's my read on the Arkansas nos.:

AR Zogby 6/11-30 ±4.7
1.McCain 39, 34.3-43.7
1.Obama 41, 36.3-45.7
3.Barr 4, 0-8.7
3.Nader 1, 0-5.7
3.Undecided 8, 3.3-12.7

If one uses this system, and superimposes each poll on top of its predecessor to NARROW the probable range of support for each candidate, one can quickly derive probable leads from what appear to be merely ties based on one poll. Eventually one will come across a survey which does not overlap a previous collection of polls but DOES overlap some of the later ones. One can then safely conclude that there has been statistically significant movement on the part of one or more of the candidates. This tells us which candidate is currently moving up, even if two or more of the candidates are statistically tied.

I confess this failed me miserably early in the primary campaign. I didn't call NH correctly and I didn't call the huge size of Obama's South Carolina victory correctly. But, starting with Wisconsin, my system became startlingly accurate. For example, I called Indiana exactly right, 51/49 for Clinton.

And using that system, Obama now has 292 Electoral College votes, McCain 115, and tossups have 131. Note that Obama wins even without the tossup states by carrying no fewer than 5 states which Kerry lost, Colorado, Iowa, Montana, New Mexico and Ohio.

With one exception, ALL THE TOSSUP STATES ARE RED! Obama is winning every Democratic state handily. And, due to Obama's national lead, he could win all the tossup states if the election were held today. What would that look like? Real Clear Politics lets one make one's own Electoral College map. I posted mine at Link . The states in play are awesome.

I think the campaign knows Arkansas is not going to be in play no matter how many offices they would put there! They aren't expending funds in states like Ark. until they make sure they fund states where they can win, and rightly so given his funding limitations.

We don't know June's figures yet, but I get the feeling that even if June is great, ppl are stuck on June, instead of moving forward and donating now for July. Just my feeling that I hope is wrong.

I guess the McCain Campaign can think of no other response.

Right now, the average of polls (according to Realclear politics) is McCain by the remarkably low 0.7 in Virginia, while the last three polls have shown Senator Obama ahead-- not by much, +1, or +2, but ahead. The only poll that showed Senator McCain ahead was taken back in May. In June, all VA polls show a lead by Senator Obama, albeit within the statistical margin of error.

This does not sound like a tremendous waste of money at all-- unless Senator McCain's co-chair Saxon is already conceding Virginia to Senator Obama, and if Virginia is conceded, that is the election for Senator Obama.

Thank you for sharing-- that is funny.

But, remember NO COMPLACENCY!

As many of us do, I believe that Obama will win if people are exposed to facts about the candidates and their positions. Unfortunately, many of these facts are often hard to find outside of partisan sites that the undecided people generally aren't visiting. So, I'm trying to put together a site that provides objective information about the candidates in an easy to digest quiz form. I'm trying to present the information in ways that will be palatable to the undecided and independent voters.

I'm hoping to create something that is useful for Obama supporters to send to people they know that are on the fence. I don't have a lot of questions up yet, but I wanted to get it out there as a place to start and get feedback and suggestions from the community here about other questions that would be good to ask. I don't know how you can pander to absentee voters as a group.... they represent every state and vote by absentee ballot for a variety of reasons.... being overseas (working, military), being on vacation, going to college out of state, working polling stations, being in a nursing home or similar institution, having a immobilizing disability, etc.... It's a pretty diverse group, therefore one that would be hard to "pander" to.

I posted to your blog on Alabama. My sister and I had to vote absentee for the February 5 primary in Alabama because we could not go to the poll. It is an excellent way for people to vote who are physically disabled, have conflicting work hours, are in the hospital, etc.

My cousin, who was in IRAQ at the time also had to vote absentee. My goddaughter, who was off in college voted absentee. We must make sure that everyone of our supporters have the opportunity to vote.

I guess you can tell I am a strong advocate of absentee voting.

Today I got active and followed your examples to set up my own fund raising page - especially to tell my friends I want donations instead of cards and gifts for my 75th birthday coming up Sept 2.

PS - What is amusing - I'd been calling all my friends to try to motivate them to get more active. If nothing else to call 10 of their friends to tell why they support Obama and how important this election is.

While I was waiting the surgery, I talked to 2 nurses about the importance of this campaign. One was on the fence. I hope something I said is remembered when she punches the screen in Nov.

I'd told the MD the other day not to forget which party blocked reduction in Medicare funding that Bush vetoed.

And, when in line at the grocery store the other day the gal behind me asked to use my store card. I asked her if she was registered to vote, saying this is a very important election.

I am finding that just asking people if they are following the election opens up doors to listen and then share why I support Obama.

McCain Aide: Obama is Stubborn like Bush

Is Barack Obama an extension of George W. Bush's foreign policy? Aides to John McCain made the argument today in a conference call meant to tout the Senator's own record.

Describing Obama's plan as dangerously rigid and ideological, McCain national security adviser Randy Scheunemann compared the Illinois Democrat to the current Oval Office occupant.

"I think the American people have had enough of stubbornness and inflexibility in national security policy," he said.

If the analogy was too obscure, Scheunemann followed it up with something a bit more overt. "In July 2004, [Obama] said there is not too much a difference between my position and George W Bush's position on the war."

The charge, of course, is not related to policy (on which Obama and Bush drastically differ) but rather ideological rigidity. But the suggestion that Obama is too stubborn to change his position on Iraq is a bit ironic coming from a McCain campaign that, as recently as one week ago, jumped all over the Senator for saying he would "refine" his position. Aides to the Arizona Republican - who, it should be noted, has stuck rigidly to his policy on troop withdrawal - said that an op-ed published by Obama in the New York Times on Monday proved that (regardless of what he sees upon visiting Iraq) the presumptive Democratic nominee is wedded to specific war strategies. And it is in that regard, they argue, that he is Bush-like.

"We cannot afford to replace one administration that refused to acknowledge failure with candidate that refuses to acknowledge success in Iraq," said Scheunemann. "Sen. McCain made it clear from 2003 through 2007 that he thought we were following the wrong strategy in Iraq ... The administration finally changed course and followed Sen. McCain's plan and the entire world has seen the dramatic turnaround in Iraq, the dramatic decrease in violence on the ground there.

"Barack Obama developed an artificial timetable during the primaries," Scheunemann went on. "And he might actually listen to the commanders on the ground before he refines his policy ... Instead what he did was come out and adhere to his strict ideological timetable so that he could please the crowd at MoveOn.org ... So yes, he certainly is inflexible and stubborn."

Montana's Gov Schweitzer would be an excellent choice. He has a few assets that I think would be a great addition:

1. He worked in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. He spent several years in Libya and Saudi Arabia and he speaks Arabic.

2. He has the ability to condense complicated issues into easy-to-remember short sound bytes. Those bytes "travel" easily from barber shops to the corner store and onward to kitchen tables at dinner time.

3. He is a very popular governor with an approval rating of 70%.

4. He is strong on environmental issues and has been bringing jobs into Montana as a result.

5. He would be a major asset in the rural areas throughout our country. President Clinton appointed him to the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) as a member of the Montana USDA Farm Service Agency committee, where he worked for seven years. During his years with the USDA, he also was appointed to the Montana Rural Development Board (1996) and the National Drought Task Force (1999).

Indeed, the weird way the press treats Obama as somehow losing because he's not winning by enough in national polls is quite annoying. Barring a career-destroying scandal, it's hard to come up with a scenario (aside from very popular third party candidate) such that either major party candidate drops much more than a point or 2 below 40% in the general election. In those landslide Republican wins, Carter got 41%, Mondale got 40.6%, and Dukakis got 45.6%.

I also read something somewhere about current polling NOT taking into account cell phone only users. How many people do you know who only have a cell phone? Well, almost all of the college age and just out of college kids who are my kids friends - almost all of them have only cell phones - no home phones. This is a huge demographic FOR Obama.

We hardly every use our home phone simply because we've gotten out of the habit. Plus we didn't want all the services they try to sell for a home phone since we like our cell phones better. We keep a landline phone for emergencies primarily.

When Republicans get smug about winning a state, I get nervous.

What are the voting systems like in Virginia? If they use machines or optical scanners, who has the programming contracts? Will caging be an issue?

Blackboxvoting.org has information for citizens in all 50 states--details about machines, processes, previous problems, etc. It is worth researching now.

Also, the campaigns for President were just starting in May so interest was a lot less. We now have instant information on the internet and 24/7 cable news, so people are making up their minds a lot sooner now.

Nowadays, a 4% popular vote win is equivalent to a 15 electoral vote win. A 6% popular vote win translates into a 30 electoral vote win, and so on...

I have been following elections since I could first vote in 1972.
We are in good shape, Obama will win. We need to get good numbers out to vote in the swing States of Virginia, Missouri and Indiana.

I don't believe in them either. I remember the second time Bush ran no one would admit they were voting for him. (These were former co-workers, friends and neighbors). Bush won handily here in VA! People vote differently once they go in the booth.

This is why we can't leave anything to chance. WE MUST NOT LET UP ON REGISTERING NEW VOTERS.

I think ppl do a good job of posting them on the blog though. I read them and go on because if you start living and dying by the polls, you'll be on an emotional roller coaster for real!

I am done with the blogs here! Have been here for months defending everything under the sun. And, sometimes it was very hot & heavy, especially with the invasion of the one-issue FISA people.

There isn't enough feedback from HDQ when you send info. I've had it!

There isn't enough done about the 'people who come here to cause trouble' and there isn't enough done to action things here on the blog right away.

Hi Diane,

Sorry to hear your frustration. I have been there -- especially after such a long fight. Many of us have been supporters of Sen. Obama for years or at least many months.

You know part of what makes this campaign special is that it is decentralize. We really hold the power to police ourselves and the blogs. I would hate for the blogs to be like Clinton's or McCain's (moderated and censored). So while I understand your frustration, I would always err on the side of openness. I welcome all comers and those include those who have other views or those who are coming here to "cause trouble." Fortunately we live in a country where "free speech" is valued. I would probably choose to leave the blogs if they became moderated or were censored.

So I do understand your frustrations and am sorry for them. Hope you decide to take some time away and rejoin the conversation perhaps in the fall. If not, I hope that you will continue to do what you can to support the campaign (short of coming on to the blogs). Take good care of yourself.

I do not expect HQ to personally contact me. I always figured they have enough to do without having to answer every single person who thinks they have a good idea, a suggestion or comment; there must be millions!

Personally, I'd rather they concentrate on all that has to be taken care of with campaigning than catering to the supporters! We're not children who need constant attention and shouldn't expect it.

p.s. This is why I have never contacted them for anything but voter fraud hotline and clarification on donations. Full stop. Period.

There are so many well written blog postings on the personal blogs here. I have to be here for those who really want information or just want to see how we live. It's very hard to control a public blog. They only re-register using different information and continue. Clinton distances herself from Hillraisers | Report to Admin

Some former top Hillary Clinton fundraisers have received attention in recent days for thus far declining to help bundle donations for Barack Obama. But none of those figures was actively working against Obama's candidacy. Ricki Lieberman is another matter.

Also a former Clinton "Hillraiser" (meaning she raised more than $100,000 for the campaign), Lieberman is keeping her own private hope alive with a daily email blast to supporters, entitled "Electability Watch," which features a cascade of negative articles and other items about Obama as a means to argue that superdelegates should change their minds in Denver and crown Clinton the nominee instead. A tipster who described them as "disgusting" sent a batch of recent "Electability Watch" emails to the Huffington Post. Their authenticity was confirmed in a phone conversation with Ms. Lieberman, who said her only desire is to "see a Democratic president in the White House" next year.

Any Democrat, perhaps, except Barack Obama -- or "BO aka Bush 3," as Lieberman repeatedly refers to him. The emails sometimes go out of their way to parrot some of the most hardcore attacks on Obama, including comments comparing Obama's planned nomination speech to Nazi-era rallies in Germany. In one email, she quotes messages from apparent Holocaust survivors:

I have heard from many Survivors and their children about the symbolism and implications of use of rules to undermine our core democratic values. Ellen Mendel wrote that "I was born under Hitler in Germany, and reading about the plans for the Obama throng in the stadium in Denver and the implications which have been spelled out, gives me the chills...the DNC will deliver the country to Obama on a platter. I wonder when it will hit them what pawns they have been in this Faustian tragedy.

Another, "As someone who escaped from France during WW ll, I hope that I'm not being over dramatic when I'm more than uneasy with stuff like Obama's possible Denver stadium theatrics and the calibrated negotiations going on about the convention."

Other emails from Lieberman cite Obama's "alliances with a cast of characters include Louis Farrahkan," and urge people to contact the German embassy to protest "Obama's grandiose, inappropriate hope" to speak at the Brandenburg Gate.

In an interview, Lieberman said it is incumbent upon the party's superdelegates to take another cold, hard look at which candidate will be more electable in the fall. ......

Given that neither Obama nor Clinton managed to win enough pledged delegates to secure the nomination, a switch from Obama to Clinton is a technical possibility that nevertheless seems highly improbable.

A spokesperson for Sen. Clinton implicitly distanced the candidate from Lieberman's effort, telling the Huffington Post: "Senator Clinton fully supports Senator Obama. She continues to urge all of her supporters to get behind him. ... She continues to do everything she can to rally folks behind him. We don't support any effort that doesn't."

Still, Lieberman presses on each and every day with her emails, signing off each one with an exhortation for her audience to "GO GO GO!!!" in their efforts to contact and persuade superdelegates. While Lieberman would not reveal the number of people on her list, she bragged in one email that her organization is "beginning to reach SDs [superdelegates] thousands of times a week."

Lieberman's emails can also be unintentionally funny. In a recent edition, she advanced a theory that the reason Obama's fundraising operation has started to show some signs of wear is because all those small donors during the primary were, in truth, closet McCain supporters who, instead of donating to his foundering campaign, were trying to destroy the most formidable Democratic candidate (that being Clinton). "And now they do not have to contribute anymore," Lieberman wrote. "Some may have even gone back to funding McCain whose fundraising has gotten better and better. SIGH... Any takers for this theory???"

In her effort to be comprehensive, Lieberman once included two mutually exclusive views on one hot story, apparently because both positions reflected poorly on Obama. During the recent Jesse Jackson controversy -- in which the civil rights leader was caught expressing his desire to "cut [Obama's] nuts off" in a hot-mic moment before a television appearance -- Lieberman's email suggested in back to back items that the entire incident was engineered by Jackson and Obama as a cynical bit of propaganda and that the incident was a true reflection of a growing displeasure among key black leaders with his candidacy.

Asked whether her relentless tearing down of Obama could potentially damage her oft-stated goal of seeing a Democratic president, Lieberman refused to concede the point. Ultimately, she described Obama as "unfit to be president." .....

As for Obama being on the extreme, as Hudson said, when it comes to abortion, I am a Catholic and am pro-life from conception until life's natural end ... what has been called a "seamless garment" support of life ... and I believe with all my heart that abortion can be significantly reduced by addressing the reasons women arrive at this painful decision. I also believe with all my heart that no Republican will ever overturn Roe v. This has nothing to do with John McCain--it's a beautiful song about the struggles of our soldiers and, although Edwin has an UNFORTUNATE last name, his vocal range is awesome. You have to turn down the volume on your computer like I said. I've never heard another singer who can hold a note like this guy either which is why I put it out there, and I WILL contribute to anyone who can hold the long notes longer than this singer.

Also, Edwin's work here in Greenville is showcased in the 2nd link and is a reminder of the younger generation who are willing to reach for the stars--and HOPE. A message that Sen. Obama often conveys. And it WORKS here in this particular story in SC--A state I'm sure this campaign would love to have in its column and where Obama is only 5 pts. behind McCain right now.

So, if your comments were meant to be snarky or you just don't really give a sh*t, why would you even bother commenting when you're so tired?

I don't like the attitude here anymore. I'm a supporter and was offering a local story to give a little context to a state where there will be a BIG Obama push in the fall and I'm supposed to be participating in a voter registration drive this weekend. It's a little disgusting to think that people like you exist in this world today.

Here we are in the 21st century and there are still those who think that any one race is better than another.

The immaturity level of those who post this trash is disheartening to those of us Americans who desire our country to stand as one and not divided into groups, social classes, or races.

When our Lord asks that we love each man as we love ourselves what does that tell you? He does not qualify that love for our fellow man (and he means man in the sense of human).

Does he say love your neighbor as yourself as long as they are White? It seems that Jesus was actually not White but of Middle Eastern decent.

Adults don't have to be uniformed these days, what with the internet and all the information available to us. We can, with real determination to find any information we may seek, actually accomplish that task. We do not have to sit in the dark and be fed **it like a bunch of mushrooms any longer. We are technically beyond that and to be so uninformed is more of a result of a resistance to search out the truth than it is being sure we know what we are trying to sell as truth, when in fact it is just a load of that **it you're being fed while sitting in the dark.

You have in front of you Charles, the keys to information (those keys being your keyboard), and that information can be your catalyst to being properly educated in the times and lives of the 21st century.

It is time you take off your blinders to others who differ and become a real American who believes what the Declaration of Independence tells us, and that is that ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL.

I love your name, but with Charles it was not about his freedom of speech (and I know you know this) but his seeming belief that freedom is just for a chosen sector of todays society.

When someone has worked as diligently and taken the task on of serving the American people (Charles included) as Barack has, how can he not be given the same respect for that work as any White?

It is beyond the realm of logic to be so disengaged in the times we are living in now to not see the complete and utter disregard for the life of another human being one shows by having such attitudes.

I pray for Charles, although he may not want it, but like our Lord, I too must love him. I don't have to agree with him nor do I have to refrain from voicing my opinion of his attitude towards a great man such as Barack. That is not necessary for me to still love him and pray for his freeing of his hatred. If anything I think our Lord would require I do so.

1. The precarious state of the economy has eclipsed the presidential election as the principal topic of conversation among politicians in Washington. The shaky condition of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (see below) shows how far the subprime crisis goes with the danger of more banking failures threatening the whole economic structure.

2. With Sen. Barack Obama moving ahead of Sen. John McCain in our latest Electoral College rundown, the private Republican view is that the focus must be on Obama in the coming campaign for McCain to win. A positive campaign will lose, and the spotlight on Obama must be harsher for McCain to have a chance.

3. Former Sen. Phil Gramm is still McCain's close friend and adviser despite having told too much of the truth in public by saying we are a nation of whiners. Gramm has apologized to McCain, and McCain told him to forget it.

4. The irritation by the Congressional Black Caucus over Obama's pivot to the right is genuine but not significant. Congressional blacks are truly irritated that Obama is not buying into their left-wing agenda, but they have no place to go. Jesse Jackson's unintended outburst is reflective of CBC irritation and probably a net political gain for Obama. Contrast with Jackson helps Obama with white voters.

5.Obama has made a rare political mistake in seeming to say it is more important for the population to learn Spanish than for immigrants to learn English. The English language issue is an important one, especially with white middle-income voters, which is Obama's potentially fatal weak spot.

I hate Novack too, but check out what he says in #2, and #3.........#2: Obama is pulling away so make this election ALL about Barack Obama instead of the failures of Bush/McCain Co. That's TRUE (and the media is fully in bed with the Republicans on this). #3: I'll bet Phil "Porn Man" Gramm isn't really gone from the McCain campaign (that's probably true too).

I hate when Republicans attempt to analyze blacks. Can no black politician not agree with Obama 100% and still support him. Can some in the CBC just have supported the Clintons because they were friends with them before Obama. Blacks can't win either way. If some in the CBC don't vote for him, they're jealous. If they do vote for him, it's because he's black. Like every other party, people have disagreements, it doesn't mean that the CBC or democrats in general hate Obama. Just today, the media was peddling some false story that some democrats are angry that they're not getting enough attention from Obama. Ok? Does this mean they won't support him? Is this even news. The Repubs are stupid, and analyzed the primaries wrong. They believed that when Hillary was hitting Obama hard, she was winning. It will backfire because they will appear ignorant and petty. What's saving the campaign is the volunteers on the ground. Obama will atleast win the minimum number. Take that to the bank Novak.

Bo did not make a mistake by saying that students should be learning a second language. Why wouldn;t we want our children to be bilingual? In many countries people are fluent in more that one language. We shouldn't be trying to dumb ourselves down. I think that it is important for new citizens to learn to speak English, but I also think that we should be teaching our students a second language in school, and not just as an elective in high school.

I was on my way home this evening and as I passed by the "fox News Building on 6th ave,I looked up at the ticker that goes around the ENTIRE building and I read "SENATOR BARACK OBAMA LEADS MCAIN" In every poll. What kept me watching is the word "Leads". Barack Obama Leads John McCain over and over that word stays with me.

Everyone in the political world knows that this race is not close. All the Noise is just for ratings.

When you choose to watch the MSM and get angry that they are not being remember that you are the ones that keep their pay checks going.

It will be clear when the debates start. Has anyone noticed that NO ONE ON THE MSM SIDE is saying " I can't wait for the debates to start"? It is because all those pundits know that once EVERYONE sees Barack Obama side by side with john McCain it VISUALLY OVER. Barack Obama will stand head and shoulders above McCain when he debates John McCain.

Agreed.

The debates will end this thing once and for all. I kept wondering why McBush wanted to have a Town Hall with BO, and then we found out his Town Halls are all just staged and I thought "Okay, THATS why", but now I'm thinking that the real reason was so McBush would have lots of practice against BO face to face, so he wouldn't look quite so ridiculous.

But Bo didn't fall for it.

And McBush keeps looking more and more foolish by the day. If he keeps this up he will be unresponsive by the time the debates start.

There is certainly some group of people who will support the president no matter who that person is and no matter what he does. They simply believe that it is their duty to do so. You may very well be correct that if this group is taken out of the sample that there remain less than 10% of the country that support Bush.

On the other hand you live in Northern California which as a bit a different perspective on the universe. It is clear that in this area support for Bush is in single digits and I am not talking percentages. There are less than 10 people who support the fool.

Call your local dem office or even state office I should think (we don't register here, so I'm a little out of the loop on that :) Or call your Nearest OBAMA campaign office ~

Iraq, and "The Surge"... | Report to Admin

Does anybody really know if "The Surge" is really working? Sure...violence may be down in that country...but is it really possible that, what I would call "necessary blood-letting" there, had already taken place...and so, therefore...there is no more blood to let in that country. As of a few months ago, already 4 to 5 million people in Iraq had been "displaced". This meant that Shia had left Sunni areas, vice-versa, and many of the Iraqi Christian minority had left the country altogether. So...perhaps with these disparate groups segregated from each other...perhaps the ease with which to find and kill each other that they had previously had has dissipated.

And, perhaps that has also led groups of Sunnis to be less willing to ally themselves with Al Queda in Iraq as they felt that they would have less to fear from Shia reprisals from the Saddam regime. And as for the Shia...perhaps they feel less need to look to Sadr's millitias to protect them from Al Queda in Iraq. Of course...the MSM, Senator McCain, President Bush, or anyone else for that matter, refuses to mention this idea. I have never set foot in Iraq; so this is just the musings of an outside observer. Those who may have more "inside knowledge" of the situation over there...feel free to tell me if I am way off base with this post. Or...if you have "inside knowledge and agree"...then let me know that, too.

Obama has 7-point edge on McCain: Reuters poll

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama has a 7-point lead on Republican John McCain in the U.S. presidential race, and holds a small edge on the crucial question of who would best manage the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

More than a month after kicking off the general election campaign, Obama leads McCain by 47 percent to 40 percent. That is slightly better than his 5-point cushion in mid-June, shortly after he clinched the Democratic nomination fight against New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.

I'm not that into horserace polling (not yet, at least -- I will be later in the campaign), but every so often it's nice to take note of the polls.

Here's all the national polls that've come out in the last week: NYT Obama +6, ABC/WaPo Obama +8 (RVs) +3 (LVs), Quinnipiac Obama +9, Newsweek Obama +3, Zogby Obama +7, Rasmussen Obama +3, Gallup Obama +4.

Also worth noting: Barack has not trailed in a national survey since May 28. (McCain led among LVs in one poll on June 15, but that same poll found Obama leading among RVs and reported that number first.)

BTW, on an unrelated note, that McCain "fifth from the bottom of his class" video is now up to 31K plays and growing. Ironically, he gave a speech on education today. To celebrate, I'll be posting a new video with new McDumb as Bush comments -- including video from the current commander in chief. I hope to have it up by noon, but no promises.

Two possible Obama VP picks coy on their prospects

(Reuters) - Two men often mentioned as possible running mates to U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama joined him on the campaign trail in Indiana on Wednesday, further stoking speculation about the Democrat's closely guarded search for a No. 2.

Former Georgia Sen. Sam Nunn and Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh appeared flattered that their names were being bandied about in the media as vice presidential contenders.

But neither would comment on whether they had been contacted by the Obama campaign about the job.

"It's an honor, but I have no expectations of being offered any office. I am not in any way sitting on the edge of a chair, waiting to go back into government," Nunn told reporters.

"Certainly I would to talk to Sen. Obama if he wanted to talk about it," he added. "But I think the chances of an offer are pretty slim and I would have to do a lot of thinking ... about what was really the best role for me."
