Today, Barack Obama will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana to hold a Summit on Confronting 21st Century Threats at Purdue University. Senator Obama will be joined by Indiana Senator Evan Bayh and former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn to discuss security issues in a changing world—including nuclear non-proliferation, bioterrorism, cyber security and emerging national security threats. Obama will discuss his comprehensive plan for combating these dangers through a combination of presidential leadership, public investment and private sector involvement.
In addition to Senators Bayh and Nunn, Obama will be joined by Dr. Graham Allison, an expert on nuclear non-proliferation, and a Professor and former Dean of the Kennedy School of Government, two renowned experts on bio security--Dr. Tara O’Toole, Center for Bio Security at the University of Pittsburgh, and Dr. David Relman, Stanford University Medical School—and two cyber security experts—Paul Kurtz, a former senior member on the National Security Council and Homeland Security Council, and Alan Wade, former Chief Information Officer for the CIA.We will be livestreaming the summit on the HQ blog at 12pm EST.
