And read very carefully what you have to do. Sometimes there's some 'small print', saying you need to add a color copy of a photo ID, or that you have to tick a box at the bottom of the page or whatnot (different in different states). So please read it carefully, and if your friends vote absentee, too, tell them, and help them do it right.

And make sure you ask vor the absentee ballot in time!!!!!

I want to know why this is not an option for the US Economic Crisis...it would help everyone I know...thus helping the entire economy!!!

"The Birk Plan"

To make the math simple, let's assume there are
200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man,
woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at
adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that
equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a 'We
Deserve It Dividend'.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their
pocket.

A husband and wife have $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your
family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care
improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including
the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every
other company that is cutting back, and of course, for those
serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's
bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean
it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion
because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to
Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

The math is off. By a factor of 1000.

Americans are bad at arithmetic. It's why they're so easily duped by GOPs.

$85 billion (8.5*10^10) divided by 200 million people (2*10^8) is $425 (4.25*10^2), not $425,000.

Please try to think before you pass on emails that only contribute to the forces of ignorance.

Jara's mom's suggestion from last thread, which is awesome: "I have a bailout plan proposal. Why don't everyone who is registered to vote and votes in the general election received $1 million. You get the voucher to be redeemed after you vote. The money can only be spent for health, housing, education, and food. It would only cost the country only ~$190 million. It would cost the treasury much less than $700 billion and let the good companies vie for the money by offering excellent product."

Cheaper, more practical, more free market-y, and what a way to give folks incentive to vote! A much better idea than giving it to all citizens 18+, IMHO!

It is the McCain campaign that blows hot and cold, up and down, responding to the madness of the day.

It is the Obama campaign that is steady and sure, as it executes a plan that's worked miracles so far and is on course for victory.

Contrary to McCain's assertion in the last debate, it is the Obama campaign that understands strategy (the overarching plan) and tactics (how you get there).

Try not to be a Nervous Ned, Sunshine Soldier, Backseat Betty, or Chicken Little.

Instead: FOCUS on what YOU will do TODAY to help Barack get to the White House.

I got an e-mail four days ago saying they had so many requests (almost two millions), their fingers are steaming from putting signs in envelopes and sending them of, but that mine is now in the mail. I think they greatly underrated how many people would respond in a very short time. So yours may still come. (You can also contact the local Democrats and ask them whether they have some stickers, or you can improvise, by downloading some signs and putting them in your car window with tape from the inside, in the meantime)

No car magnet, no yard sign, no Obama/Biden shirt. What the heck is going on? I finally had to go to local HQ and buy some yard signs. Also, went to the Obama store to see if I could find out where my sign but there didn't seem to be anyplace to contact store about where it is. Really not cool to take so long. But I did go to local HQ to get some yard signs. Bought 3 in case any get stolen!

Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn't for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore would never have started, and to all the parents whose kids would be killed in the WarFest that would be a McCain/Palin -- sorry, Palin/McCain -- administration to do everything in your power to get Barack Obama elected.

But that's not what you're doing, Bill, and it's not going unnoticed. We see your rage, Bill, it's too huge to hide. We see that -- as Chris Rock so brilliantly pointed out -- it pains you to even speak Obama's name. We see you petulantly rooting against him even as you go through the motions of doing the barest minimum on his behalf to avoid being blamed if he loses.

You're not fooling anyone, Bill. You've gotten so caught up in yesterday that you've stopped thinking about tomorrow. You have the power to influence millions of voters and you're spitefully sitting on it. Surely you've noticed what's going on in the country. Surely you're aware of what's at stake on November 4th. Let me remind you: "Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly? She's the child of Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton." Are you saying, Bill, that you can forgive McCain for calling Chelsea "ugly" but you can't forgive Obama for defeating Hillary?

If Obama loses a close election -- one in which even one state where you could have made a difference goes for McCain because you sat home and pouted -- it will be on you. Hope that it's not true though.....

Bill spoke on one of his recent interviews (think it was on Meet The Press?), and answered a question about funding for his World-Wide Initiative...
Were the donated funds drying up because of economy?

No, he said, most of the donors had already set-up their Foundations, and had to contribute so-much-per-year.

If you recall, the Clinton's also have a Foundation. During the Primary campaign, the press ooohed and ahhhed about the amount of Clintons charitable giving...

Clintons made liberal use of the charitable deduction, claiming $10.2 million in charitable giving over eight years.
Intriguingly, nearly all the donations went to the Clinton Family Foundation, which has disbursed only half the money.
The Clintons can thus use the foundation for strategic giving, such as the $100,000 it donated last year to a local South Carolina library – the day after Mrs. Clinton debated in that key primary state.
There are other examples of such politically targeted philanthropy....

David Cay Johnston wrote about these types of Foundations being "tax-shelters" that the super rich employ, in his two books, "Perfectly Legal", and "Free Lunch".

Is it possible that Bill Clinton wants these types of Tax Laws to remain in place, and has determined no-change would take place under a Republican Administration?
Would Bill Clnton go that far?

People are saying that $700B is an incomprehensible number. Well, let me make this simple. There are currently ~6B people on this earth. Which means we could give ~$10B to each person on this earth with the proposed 'Bailout'.

If we REALLY WANT CHANGE. Why don't we give $1M to each person residing in the US, $2M to each small business in the country and use the rest to give each resident of this country complete health insurance, fix our education system, fix our infrastructure, fix social security, and save he rest?

Wall St. is a $$ black hole, THE CONSUMER IS WHAT DRIVES OUR ECONOMY!

I guess I don't understand what the difference is b/w "legit" (i.e. a legitimate person?) and a "troll", but whatever. I guess I'll need to get a profile so that my thoughts are respected here as much as everyone else's.

I do think we should all be skeptical of the electronic voting system (didn't anyone see the documentary about the major voting rights violations and fraud from the 2004 election - I believe some of it was in Farenheit 911)?

This scares the heck out of me b/c it seems completely out of our control...

I'm just saying - we have to be vigilant about everything this time. I don't think there will be "foreign hackers" but I do think those in power will do everything it takes to stay in power. THIS has been proven time and time again.

Kevin I heard Erin Burnette on MSNBC say that people should not take false comfort just because the DOW is up. She said that the credit market is frozen even more than it was yesterday and that it is not represented in the number. In essence the "experts" have been saying that it is the credit markets that are of the greatest concerns. I heard one report of a lady not being able to get the funds for her nonprofit and small businesses are slowly feeling the pain from this.

Just heard Barack's speech in Reno. Wow! One of the best speeches I've ever heard him give (and I've heard a lot!) He explained in simple, easy to understand language why this bailout is necessary and how it affects the average American. Said people had a right to be outraged, that this didn't happen overnight but it's like your next door neighbor who leaves his stove on all the time and his house catches fire. You've got to save the house before it affects yours, then you can get into blaming the guy. He was reassuring about what's going on, calm, confident, stating we can get through this. He reminded me of FDR calming people during the Depression. This man has got to be elected. He is exactly what our country needs right now. If speech goes up on site later, be sure to watch it.

Why is Obama supporting this rescue bailout plan? Why isn't he in Washington? I was a supporter of him but he has shown his true colors. He doesn't put America first. He is too worried about his precious little campaign. And give me a break...On on the phone w/ Paulson, Bush, etc..is just baloney---or call me if you need me. Why would they? that's just laughable. If he gave a dam about this ecomomy and the people of this country he wouldn't support this bailout....You Obama supporters talk about all that he is going to do and change....What is he going to change when the country is going to be in debt for $700B or more? He will be changing nothing since we all will be paying back this debt, or grandchildren and there children will be paying it back! Futhermore, read up on the statistics...I wondered how he can claim he would lower taxes for 95% of the population. That is out right lie! Do your research people and read the tiny print. I found information last week in the IRS statistical tax income data....40% of wage earners in this country pay "NO" taxes. The remaining 55% only pay 60% of the total tax revenue which amounts to 1% of the overall tax revenue. So, really if you take out the 40% that don't pay taxes; he is only really lowering taxes overall for about 55% of the population. In the end he is going to do nothing....because as taxpayers we are going to be in debt up to our eyeballs for a very long time.

Tomorrow Barack is to hold a rally here in La Crosse, WI and I am determined to attend. Gates open at 8 AM to this 10 AM open event, its billed as a first come/first serve event. I never thought I would be so hopeful to gain admittance to a political rally, but I am!

During the last 6 weeks I have been massively ill, suffering from a severe fungal infection in my lungs and I am only now recovering. During ongoing coverage at the beginning of the economic crisis I was surprised to see John McCain given a platform courtesy of Bill Clinton. McCain made opening remarks at Clinton's Global Initiative which were televised smack in the middle of all the coverage marking the crisis. McCain had supposedly suspended his campaign but I noticed the words "when I am president..." creeping into his remarks. I was stunned. The camera would shift to Cindy and Sarah sitting adoringly in the audience. Bill, bleary-eyed as usual shifted his gaze to the two women also as he softly praised Cindy for her charity work. Bill has also been heard making alot of admiring statements about the Palins, and the McCains.

Does anyone get the idea that Bill secretly wants to join the McCains and Palins? It seems like there is alot more excitement there. Bill sounded like an excited kid when discussing the adventure of the iditarod and the macho Palin man...maybe Bill isn't allowed to run with Ron Biurkle's crew anymore - no crazy parties or jetting off to France...so he is wistfully turning his attention to those fast living Republicans.

I think Bill needs one of those themed adventure vacations where he could vicariously live out a dangerous life. He has certainly seen some danger himself but of a different kind. Come out in the open, Bill and quit that day job. For once in your life do what you really want and rejoin that fast crowd.

Today it was reported that McCain would beat Barack Obama if there was a vote right now. I predicted that this race would become very contentious and vicious months ago and it did. I predicted that Hillary would start to "implode" in which I meant that she would lose steam and lose favor with the American public. And she is.

NOW I HAVE ANOTHER PREDICTION. WHEN BARACK OBAMA BECOMES THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE HE WILL NEED TIME TO UNDERSCORE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HIMSELF AND MCCAIN. THEN , I PREDICT, THERE WILL BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MCCAIN AS THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES. IT MAY BE HIS HEALTH OR IT MAY BE AN ANGRY OUTBURST, I AM NOT SURE. BUT SOMETHING VERY NEGATIVE IS GOING TO HAPPEN THAT NO ONE CAN PREDICT AT THIS TIME.

But as it all plays out, just as Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton, he will beat John Mc Cain. You can call it the hard work and determination of Senator Obama. You can suppose it is his brilliant campaign and all the people that make up this nearly flawless campaign. You can say it is fate. BUT BARACK OBAMA WILL BECOME PRESIDENT. If I was a betting person I would bet my house on it.

In the October 13,2008 issue of People Magazine there is an article called "Daring to Care" on page 81. It talks about Dr. Randy Christensen who is funded by Phoenix Children's Hospital. There are more than 7,000 homeless teens on the streets of Phoenix, Arizona. This doctor goes around and offers them free health care working 60 hours a week. There is a harrowing story about gang rape on a young homeless woman at the beginning of the article.

...you will see that Cindy McCain is discussed and the following information is included:

"The profits of the beer business have been put to good use in her husband's career, as the alcohol industry funds him (MCCAIN) more generously than any other politician in the Senate. Even Cindy McCain's high-profile charitable work for children has to play second fiddle. When Phoenix Children's Hospital suggested raising money for hospital beds by taxing alcohol sales, the Hensley company (CINDY'S FAMILY NAME) fought it and is now trying to change the laws so that a tax increase on alcohol is unlikely to pass."
The whole article is quite revealing but I think with all of the wonderful work that Phoenix Children's Hospital does, it is an outrage that her company is blocking money for hospital beds to fund McCain's political career. According to the article McCain is an awful husband.
