We're keeping it positive all weekend long. That's right, as they go negative we're taking the high road (for once). We've only seen a few really great Barack Obama posters out there on the street or on the web. We'd like to add to the mix with something that would look great in a shop window or stapled to a telephone poll.

While John McCain has always been self conscious about his height (5'9" is nothing to be ashamed of), Obama's nickname could be Stretch. Especially in this poster where the angle makes him look even taller.

Mid-America Mom...you'll be happy to know that I've made plans to go into the office this coming week to help out.

I just came home from running errands and I saw a full bus drop off people at Dem headquarters at noon. My heart was full of gratitude. On my walk this morning I actually started to cry b/c of the Obama/Biden yard signs I saw and my heartfelt admiration for both the Obama and Biden families.

I want a better country and world for my two children and the children I teach at school.

New Hampshire's indies really did it for him. Plus, Guliani was an idiot and only campaigned in FL, so he missed out on the earlier primaries and the Democrat's excitement kind of generated some momentum for those Republicans that were campaigning, i.e. McCain, Romney, and Huckabee.

Romney's issue, though, was that he is Morman. I guess the far right Evangelical folks weren't too keen on that. So, he had trouble gaining traction, and then he dropped out.

Huckabee was too hokey and religious, so he had trouble with the Romney type Republicans - strictly fiscal conservative folks.

McCain was kind of like the default candidate.

Voter Purges Could Cause Florida-like Presidential Recounts | Report to Admin

..... new practices in key swing states to update voter rolls are coming under fire for mistakes that could involve rejecting tens of thousands of legitimate voters, suggesting that close vote counts in these states could lead to legal fights echoing Florida's presidential recount in 2000.

According to a New York Times report on Oct. 9, key swing states -- including Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Missouri -- have been using federal Social Security data to verify voter registration information from established and potential voters. The Social Security data, which is used to authenticate voters' identity but is known to be error-prone, has been used to purge "tens of thousands" of voters already on voter rolls, the Times reported, as well as to reject numerous new voter registration applications.

Of 7.7 million inquiries by states to the Social Security Administration to verify voter applications in 2008, nearly 2.4 million resulted in "non matches," according to the agency, which Monday issued a statement urging election officials in six states -- Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Nevada, North Carolina and Ohio -- to "review their procedures."

This past summer, AlterNet reported that Michigan, Kansas and Louisiana were using drivers' license databases in a similar manner to purge voters. In both instances, whether using Social Security or motor vehicle data, it is difficult to fully know how voter rolls will be affected because different states and counties have differing procedures on purging and removing voters, and because this process is often secretive.

What's clear to leading voting rights attorneys, however, is that this "name-matching" process not only violates the guiding federal law on removing voters, the National Voter Registration Act, and violates the guiding federal law on accepting vote registrations, the National Voting Rights Act, but also creates a new basis to challenge presidential results if the vote count is close on November 4.

Unless there is litigation to force states to follow these federal laws before Election Day and restore purged voters and accept registrations from new voters, a close vote count in swing states could see post-Election Day legal fights over provisional ballots. These are ballots issued to voters whose names are not on voter lists and are later validated before they are counted. Thus, a fight over provisional ballots in 2008 could echo the fight over hanging chads -- or punches in paper ballots -- in Florida in 2000.

Well, I was so happy to finally receive my First Edition Obama/Biden '08 merchandise package in the mail yesterday afternoon - 1 yard sign, 1 shirt, 1 car magnet and 5 pins.

I put up the yard sign at 5 pm and left for my second job.

Upon my return at 10 pm, the sign was gone.

I reported it to my local police, an officer came over and he filed a report.

I'm really frustrated now. I don't know if a McCain supporter took it out spite, or whether a teenager took it as a prank, etc.

I walked around in my neighborhood this morning but there was no Obama/Biden sign to be seen anywhere, along the roadside -- there were two McCain/Palin ones and one Obama (ie. Massachusetts, not being a battleground state, most signs here are local ones, like for State Rep or State Senator).

Well, I still have my Obama bumpers stickers affixed to my cars and my mailbox. I still wear the Obama and Obama/Biden shirts (both from the Obama store and MoveOn.org).

This is my first campaign where I've owned a house, where I could put up a yard sign (before that I lived in apartments and condos and couldn't put up a yard sign).

Next time, I'll take Carol-STJ's advice and not put it so close to the sidewalk abutting the street -- maybe will tack in to a tree out front, that is out of reach of anyone grabbing it (unless they brought a ladder with them).

Well, at least I got some good walking exercise out of the whole experience.

Don't be too surprised by this. Light the sign at night with a small yard light. That's your best deterrent. This is a spiteful tactic that both sides are known for since this harsh division of our country.

Can you make one home made ??? Photocopy it to still have a new one ready ? Fixed it strongly ? Remove it during the night (cowards act by night), put it again during the day, when it's more difficult to steel it ? Add some of your full of humour messages ?

Shoot! I'm sorry someone was so dirty to steal your sign.

Knock on wood, nobody has touched mine. I put it closer to the house, though.

Living in AZ, we haven't seen too many signs around. In fact, I still have yet to see a McCain sign or bumper sticker. I've seen a few Obama signs and quite a few bumper stickers.

I am so hoping we are a big surprise to McCain and blow him out of the water by going blue!!

The problem with my front yard (it's an old house) is that the front of the house is only 12 feet until the sidewalk, so anything put out front is easy for someone to take (newer homes, with current zoning laws, have to set back 35 feet from the street/sidewalk.

Lessen learned for me about yard signs.

Senator Obama has the opportunity to arrive at more specifics for his plan to fix this woed economy. Outline this to the public. The McCain camp is gearing up to do this and will use his willingness to offer specifics against Senator Obama's lack thereof.

I want more to hear - to be delighted and hopeful by - more specifics on Senator Obama's plan to rescue this global economy. Stay ahead in this race.

I personally think he's got to be careful not to be too specific and promise things that he may not be able to pursue. Look how much things have changed. His energy, health care, and other plans will no doubt have to be tweaked due to the current crisis.

He needs to have overall goals and plans, but to be specific in a situation that is very gray is setting up expectations that he may not be able to live up to, through no fault of his own.

Very good point. However, he must have a plan of attack he can share. Even if he states something to the effect, "With the ever-daily changes this economy is taking, my plan is to assess the situation on a daily basis. If, when I take office, the circumstances are as they exist today, my plan is to..."

McCain's plan to buy up the failed mortgages at face value is faltered. McCain's plan to have a spending freeze counters all his other expressed measures to "fix" everything else...practically in the same sentence. The more specific Senator Obama can get under a number of scenarios, I think the better. But, as you say, he needs to take care in considering the ever-changing conditions.

Let Me explain my thoughts please. I am a life long Democrat who happens to be a white male living in Alabama. I supported Biden and Hillary before supporting Obama. I always liked Obama's message of change and police's better than Hillarys but feared that Barrack may meet racism and rhetoric that might hinder his chances to defeat the republican. I live in a red state and wittness in person, the stupid, evil, lies that we have all seen as of late. The so called friends that I hunt and fish with are calling me names that I would not repeat here for being an Obama supporter. This campaign has turned as ugly as it gets, Obama has showed class in the face of unbelivable hatred. We all see the facts some choose to be hateful,racist,radical. Mccain and Palin along with the Nasty part of the republican base that I know (nascar rednecks) have fueled a fire that I feel has endangered my life. The anger that I see is unexplanable. The demogogues Mccain and Palin must be defeated and of course will. I want Obama Biden to win in my state of Alabama, I would like the campaign to invest more money here to educate a populace that is supject to demogoguary. This must go both ways!!! Vote Obama because he is the right man for the job, on the issues. If you are voting for him simply because he is black, then you to are a part of the problem. If you don't know the difference in the Debt and deficit find out or don't vote. Sorry for the rant but as I said I am affraid!
