I went to my democratic campaign office and called as many on the list as I could. The list of voters I was given were from my area but were uncertain to vote democratic. I left messages for most, got a few hang ups, some vocal McCain supporters or those who didn't want to say for whom they voted, and some enthusiastic Obama supporters. I will volunteer again tomorrow in the office and perhaps Tuesday too.

There were a lot of people streaming through the office. All were eager to canvass, phone bank, or do data entry. People were upbeat and feeling good about helping in any way possible.

I called New Hampshire and Ohio voters, the New Hampshire voters were all Barack voters..

Great responses,, I just asked if they had a few minutes and if they did not want to talk then I just went on to the next one, that is the best strategy at this point, since so many people have been called already-- best not to talk to anyone who really does not want to talk.

So anyway, keep on calling but be poiite you will represent Senator Obama well if you are just as polite and civil as he is.

We have to restore civility to our countries politics like he said today

We had an Obama Walk today in my hometown of Rock Hill and I attended. Congressman Spratt was there as well as the number three James Clyburn to speak to the crowd. My youngest son took a picture with Congressman Clyburn. Also called my family to make sure they had the right polling stations and id info to vote on Tuesday. I will help to GOTV on Tuesday and my eldest son that is 17 and will not be old enough to vote has trained to be a assistant poll worker. and will be there all day. My husband volunteered today to help drive folks to the polls that want to go. I can't wait until Tuesday since we don't have early voting here to vote for Sen. Obama.

But more than that, you have given me support when I've felt down and lifted me up with hope. I am voting for Senator Obama, but I am dissapointed that his campaign has removed reporters from the plane, apparently in retaliation for their newspapers endorsing McCain.

From what I heard, they were not part of the regular traveling media and it was a space issue. There is no right to a plane seat. Thanks for your vote though. Go OBAMA!

Bill, there's more to that story than you think. I think two tv networks asked for additional seats in order to film the last week or so of this historic campaign. I expect they want to make a documentary of the last week of this historic journey.

As you can probably appreciate, that's more important to America than 2 reporters, since I'm sure it will be of historic importance for future generations.

I'm sure Obama could fill a 747 with reporters and film crews over this last week-particulary

it's just a manufactured controversy.

The GOP would love to distract us from calling and GOTV, and even lessen our enthusiam by spinning and creating controversies that don't exist.

We can talk about the seats on the plane, which takes us away from talking about actually getting out the voters (and McCain wins), or we can focus on doing what we have to do, ignoring these manufactured controversies (in that case we have a shot at winning).

So, can we win this first and then talk about the seats on the campaign plane? please?

It's a distraction pushed by the GOP.. psych ops.. let's not let it distract us.

The determination of intent is a very difficult thing. The assumption that they lost their space on the plane "because" of the McCain endorsement is as false as it is unsupportable.

The plain facts were that there are more news organisations that want spaces than the number of spaces available. What would you suggest instead? That other news organisations go instead? which ones? and would not they also be disappointed? What about the ones that never got the chance to get on the plane to begin with?

Finally, one of the news organisations that lost their seat is on record as stating they did not believe that they lost their place because of their coverage. I suspect they are closer to the situation than you or I, so as a principal party of the situation they have somewhat higher expertise.

It would be great to fly a whole set of planes about.. but that is not a wise way to spend campaign dollars, and if those news organisations want to cover Obama they can certainly get on a plane and fly their themselves. I see no reason why there is anything wrong, morally, ethically, politically, financially, or otherwise that the campaign changes their selection for the limited seats available.

You may be disappointed, yet you didn't offer any viable solutions to allowing other news organisations the same level of access. Had there been empty seats on the plane as a result, there might be some rational argument to be made for 'disappointment', however it's simply not the case.

anyway, I see the story as manufactured controversy.

On Monday, November 3rd DNC Chairman Howard Dean will spend the last full day of the 2008 presidential election helping to get out the vote for Democrats in John McCain's home state of Arizona. Dean will headline a Get Out the Vote Rally with local Democrats in Tucson, Arizona on the heels of Arizona being moved from "Leaning McCain" to "Toss Up" by Real Clear Politics.

Yes their trying,but its hard for some people to get over race. I'm from the Philly area. I know Sen.Obama got Philly locked down but the other parts of PA I'm not so sure. If he wins PA,I'll be shocked. If he loses PA,I'll be so embarrassed of my home state. I'm hoping for the best.

You my have noticed that I haven’t been on the Blog for a while. I'd finally had it with a grumpy blogger. I know this person can be rude to everyone & that I should just let it go but his personal attacks & insults to me were just too much last week.

Like many, my nerves are frazzled these days. I can’t wait for this thing to be over. I can’t eat, can’t sleep. I burst out in tears for no reason.

I LOVE my blog family. The blog has been my therapy & place for comfort & solace & kindness but these days my nerves & patience are shot. I was tired of being beat up my one grumpster. So I left.

But then I heard Obama today & realized I needed to take heed of his words & realize that this is bigger than me & my personal hurt feelings from someone whom I’ve never even met. I’m moving on. So is Obama.

Helene, our blogger in France won't be able to get me a photo until just after the election so I won't have the video completed for an election night party but I do have a little surprise. This is the first campaign I have ever volunteered for. In the last year this campaign has been such an important part of my life. But more importantly, it has shaped my three children's lives. They have learned the importance of acting on your beliefs and standing up for what you think is right. They have watched me call all over the country and travel to Rhode Island in the primaries and weekends in New Hampshire now. Cool idea for your tracking poll. how are you compensating for selection and measurement error?

And the demographic breakdown might be useful too.

I guess it could turn into too much work, but it would improve it's info value and help you identify areas it may be skewed.

The stadium seats 35,000, so there must be 40,000 there. That goes along with 60,000 in Columbus and 80,000 in Cleveland today.

McCain had a town hall in New Hampshire and had no more than 250 in attendance. lol

I was there in Peterborough outside of the townhall...We were among about 40 Obama supports shouting Obama! Obama! when the outsude crowd was leaving...about 200-300 people...and my 11 year old daughter started crying because the McCain supports were so mean and threatening. My 15 year old daughter was hit in the back by a woman and we had to pull her back from the front when an older man was shouting in her face. It was terrible energy. I hated it. I have been to 3 Obama rallies here in NH and they were all peaceful and full of good energy. I am sad that my youngest daughter experienced that.

From the calls I made; I get the feeling some undecided voters want to vote for Barack, but some feel some apprehension.

I'm getting the feeling that a large percentage just don't want to vote for Senator McCain.

I would rather be in Barack's shoes as far as undecided voters go.

I'm getting the feeling either they won't vote or they will go for Obama. I think McCain is not reading them well. McCain is making the mistake of reacting to the primaries. It's a short sited view based on a model that I don't think exist. That's what you do when you can't research your own models. Mental laziness, I guess.

I think Obama's team is right on this one. The white male rural voter going for McCain is another myth. Again, they are using a model that is not relevant in this general.

I'm feeling good. I can't wait to vote.

....sharing a couple of links with an undecided and then watching rallies from both candidates. It was a good Sunday. The prank on Palin was the kicker. That was scary. Even the credit card company and banker will tell you not to take a cold call from someone who states they are the bank and need to speak to you. They always tell you to hang up and call back. Mind you, this is a VP who thinks she is speaking to a foreign leader. Sorry that is scary and someone at that level cannot not do their due diligence.

I was out there today and yesterday here on the Panhandle knocking on doors. My feet are tired but my heart is bursting with hope.

I can't believe that election day is in two more days. This has been amazing journey and I am so thrilled to be a part of it.

Thanks everyone who has donated a dollar, made a phone call, knocked on a door, talked to a neighbor, co-worker, or relative, written a postcard or published a letter to the editor. We are all part of something special.

Charlotte, N.C. - My wife made me canvas for Obama; here's what I learned

There has been a lot of speculation that Barack Obama might win the election due to his better "ground game" and superior campaign organization.

I had the chance to view that organization up close this month when I canvassed for him. I'm not sure I learned much about his chances, but I learned a lot about myself and about this election.

Let me make it clear: I'm pretty conservative. I grew up in the suburbs. I voted for George H.W. Bush twice, and his son once. I was disappointed when Bill Clinton won, and disappointed he couldn't run again.

I encouraged my son to join the military. I was proud of him in Afghanistan, and happy when he came home, and angry when he was recalled because of the invasion of Iraq. I'm white, 55, I live in the South and I'm definitely going to get a bigger tax bill if Obama wins.

I am the dreaded swing voter

I think Obama will make decisions like Bill Clinton did. If you liked Clinton I think you'll like Obama. I think he's more of a centrist than a liberal, which is the way Clinton ran his presidency.

Florida has been flooded with ads this weekend by the McCain campaign, the RNC, and several 527 groups. I just saw the Rev. Wright ad. They're all horrible ads. Thank goodness we had great early voting turn out. This is going to come down to the wire folks. It's getting nasty down here!!

Obama should have defeated this silly association a long time ago by saying how ridiculous it is. I've been going to the same church for 10yrs. My pastor is pro-life and against divorce. He believes wives should stay home. However, that's not what I believe but I still go their because of the community service and because their are sermons he preaches that are just what I needed to here. My wife still works but she still go to the church.

I think people have made up their mind and everyone heard about wright in the primary.

I seriously doubt McCain using Wright (via the gop trust group) helps McCain, and if anything turns people off from McCain.

Anyway, I would not bother to have a response to the wright ads (normally I would, but in this case I don't recommend it).

Mia, you confirm what my mom has told me about Palm Beach County. She lives in West Palm Beach (FL) and says that she can't turn on the radio or television without an onslaught of very negative McCain attack ads against Sen. Obama.

Anyone watch Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters tonight? I have never seen so many McCain ads on since the beginning of the election.

Also, they are flooding South Florida with ads that feature Jeb Bush and other Republican surrogates.

As well as at many as 6 different "smear" ads.

They sure did spend 10 million more than Obama these last few days. This should be addressed since they always attack Obama for spending so much $$$.

I live in PA and all I can say is that these older Dems who insist on sitting out or writing in Hillary's name on the ballot are selfish.

While out hanging voting reminders on doors for the local campaign office today, I ran into a local Starbucks to grab a quick cup of coffee. The woman in front of me in line noticed the many Obama/Biden pins that I was wearing (as did the Obama supporter behind the counter who'll be volunteering tomorrow) and the woman started asking questions about Obama. She just needed to be convinced. She said that she was unsure at first, but I'm confident that I got her!!

I told my husband I would faithfully post his recommendations if he will take a chance and vote for Barack.

Dear Policy Team:

A real leader will work with Congress to enact those tough choices. What would those tough choices be?

Balance the budget with the current revenue stream and that includes excluding social security revenue from the revenue stream. That means across the board cuts, including the military.

A tax increase levied only to pay down the debt and pay back the trillions in IOUs to the social security fund. I propose a modest national sales tax in lieu of increasing income taxes.

Consolidate government, reduce duplicity, and increase governments’ effectiveness and efficiency.

Reform Medicare and Social Security. That means cutting benefits and eliminating the maximum earnings amount above which you stop paying the social security payroll tax.

Reform our education system and invest in math and science education.

Drill more and invest in renewable energy. We need to be leaders in the renewable energy field.

Close military bases around the world and pull our military back. We need to defend OUR borders first and foremost.

Squash the climate change nonsense which would waste trillions trying to reduce global temperatures by a tenth of degree. Taking that money and investing it in math and science education, renewable energy research, and infrastructure would have a far greater impact.

If the $11 trillion in debt and $54 trillion in unfunded liabilities does not say it all... These two numbers alone provide enough justification for the measures I propose above. These two numbers provide a measure of the precariousness of our situation. Americans need to realize that the run is over. America needs to rethink its priorities. America needs to realize that money does not grow on trees and cannot be printed wantonly without dire consequences. America can no longer enslave on our children and grandchildren with debt. It is time we take responsibility for our actions, at a personal level and at a national level.

I think Obama will work on most of those issues, but I think he does believe in climate change. Most of the climate initiatives are tightly wound with the energy platform Obama has.

I haven't commented very much on this blog, but I have donated more than I can afford. We are all nervous right now, but I just want to say that we will win if we just stay diligent for the next couple days. The polls are in our favor, so the only way to lose is to get complacent. Volunteer. I did for the past 2 days. Some of you have for the past 2 years. What is another 48 hours?

I did today just like I did 4 years ago for Kerry. But the difference is that people are excited to vote for Barack whereas 4 years ago people were voting for or against Bush. I have talked to very rural very pro-Bush friends in Pennsylvania, and they are voting Obama.

We have this as long as we work for it. Forget the polls, if we work harder, Obama will win!

I volunteered tonight and entered a mountain of call and canvass data, I came home and my husband rewound what I had just missed during the football game - an awesome 2 minute Obama commercial, and I got to see most of this rally online. I am feeling good!

I have a word of encouragement for those who feel heavy laden.

First, I have some news for John McCain.

McCain prefers paying attention to Zogby's International polls. This evening, I listened to John Zobgy himself on radio 6.30 fm where he basically said that the voters may still have UNFINISHED business from 2006.

If the 2006 (against the Bush administration) continues, Obama wins and we shall see ourselves to a one party rule, said Zogby. Good news for democrats; the only word of caution is that the dems will have to behave nicely if they attain a majority rule. They will have to do their own checks and balances. Overall, Zogby did not have any good news for McCain throughout the radio interview to the hosts dismay! The spanish vote is also crucial since it is breaking for Obama/Biden big time.

Now, in some earlier threads, I saw a few people discouraged about their GOTV efforts. Mine was encouraging in Northern Viriginia. Out of a total of over 80 phone calls, the majority were strong Obama/Biden supporters.

It is not over until it is over.

This has been a long drawn out race, and I can't say that I am so proud to be apart of and seeing history in the making. Senator Obama, you have inspired me beyond all feasible logic. I too, know about what it takes to defy the odds, and believe me, sir when I tell you, that you have done so with so much elegance that it shocks the mind. I am an African American, married father of three, who has served this nation in the U.S Army for 8 honorable years. I come from a family that, along with me, have served a combined total of 53 years in the Air Force (Father 20 years, Mother 5 years,2 younger Brothers- 5 years Navy And 12 years Army with 2 combat tours in Iraq).

I'm now an X-Ray Tech At a urgent care clinic, and I can tell you that WE NEED YOU!! I Live in Florida now, and almost all FLoridians have voted for you, and I am no different. To make a long story short, I have placed my vote in for you last week, now the rest is up to all that haven't voted yet. Sure things like this only come once in a lifetime, and we can ill afford to squander such a treasured moment. I ask that you keep homing in on your message of hope and change, keep pushing your battleplans for this nation, fix our standing in the world, AND ABOVE ALL ELSE, ALWAYS REMEMBER TO KEEP GOD FIRST AND FOREMOST IN YOUR LIFE. As a former Floridian I wanted to thank you for your vote for Senator Obama. I grew up in Homestead during a very turbulent time the 60's -70's and I am so proud to have already cast my vote for Senator Obama last Monday. I live in Oregon now and we vote by mail. It is much easier, by the way, I think Florida should try it, we don't wait in lines here we just drop off our ballot at our convenience or mail it early.

Yes we are watching history, I just ask that all Floridians get out and vote and take back this country.

I was there in Peterborough, NH outside of the townhall. About 200-300 people. The supporters filled only about a quarter of the area partitioned off for the rally.. We were standing outside the security area as the outside rally broke up, we were shouting Obama! Obama! as they were leaving, about 30 or 40 of us in all and several young children in the Obama supporter group. My 11 year old daughter started crying because the McCain supports were so mean and threatening. My 15 year old daughter was hit in the back by a woman McCain supporter and we had to pull her back from the front when an older man was shouting in her face. It was terrible energy. I hated it. I have been to 3 Obama rallies here in NH and they were all peaceful and full of good energy. I am sad that my youngest daughter experienced that.

Because Zolby polls went up. They are looking for anything that helps McCain to fill up their show. Gregory on MSMBC always supports NcCain. He is in the tank for McCain.

I notice that too when Gregory had Valerie, Obama spokeperson on his show. He asked her point blank if there strategy was to get out all the african american votes. It caught me off guard, he sounded like Hannity. Valerie handled it well by telling him this campaign is interested in unity and not continous divisions and that they were getting out ALL votes...

not because they are trying to "fix" the results but because of the sampling method they use. It makes sense because they seem to be about that much under the rest of the polls. Even the Cleveland Plain Dealer says that most polls show Obama with a lead in Ohio. When even they say that . . .

Virginia turns blue!

For the first time, Mason Dixon (MD) has Obama up in Virginia. They also have him up in Florida. It can't get better. McCain has no outlet if he lost both VA and FL.

Some say MD is credible. Others say that it leans towards McCain.

Just got back from a training session for voter protection volunteers in St. Louis. Apparently, the Obama campaign has about 1500 lawyers volunteering to fight voter suppression in Missouri. See, not all of us lawyers are bad.

By the way, some Catholic bishops, including here in Missouri are saying that Catholics can't vote for Obama because he is pro-choice. That is not the official position of the Catholic Church. If anybody knows a Catholic struggling with this issue, please refer them to the link below which sets out the Church's actual position. Thanks.

And from what I could tell by the news, they were mostly YOUNG people. I honestly have to believe the young people will be coming out in droves for election day. Young people know what's at stake. If they came out out out for Bland Kerry (Hey I voted for him but let's face it...charisma wasn't his "thing"), how could they not come out for Barack??? Young people just like to play it "last minute." I have to believe in addition to our GOTV in all the cities, college campuses are doing the same thing. Maybe I'm wrong but I heard something about some type of calling starting in the middle of the night tomorrow to make sure the students get out an vote. I have to believe there will be campus raids from political groups on campuses to basically drag people out and go vote. Students will miss a day of classes to vote if they need to. Young people, I have to believe are smarter than people want to give them credit for.

From your lips to God's ear, I hope that you are correct about young people. Those numbers are low everywhere from what I understand. yesterday while phonebanking that is what the precinct captains were saying; youth vote is low. I think that the rethugs are scared and that might get them, however, reluctant they will vote for McCain. We need the youth vote to offset that impact. By the way, what is considered to be the youth vote?

PRINCETON, NJ -- The final Gallup 2008 pre-election poll -- based on Oct. 31-Nov. 2 Gallup Poll Daily tracking -- shows Barack Obama with a 53% to 42% advantage over John McCain among likely voters. When undecided voters are allocated proportionately to the two candidates to better approximate the actual vote, the estimate becomes 55% for Obama to 44% for McCain.

The trend data clearly show Obama ending the campaign with an upward movement in support, with eight to 11 percentage point leads among likely voters in Gallup's last four reports of data extending back to Oct. 28. Obama's final leads among both registered voters and likely voters are the largest of the campaign.

***Looks like the ground game is giving Obama late momentum. Let's drive it on home.
