Republicans Crossing Over to Vote in Democratic Contests
Clouding the picture, however, is a campaign by Rush Limbaugh, the radio talk show host, urging his listeners to cast their ballots for Mrs. Clinton “if they can stomach it,” in order to prolong the Democratic race and weaken the eventual winner.
“They’re in the midst of tearing themselves apart right now,” Mr. Limbaugh said in an interview with Fox News just before the Texas and Ohio primaries on March 4. “It’s fascinating to watch, and it’s all going to stop if Hillary loses.”

while their crossing over is legal, it isn't if it is to commit fraud; to misrepresent their true desires. it's also illegal on his part, and abuse of the FCC laws, tho i can't cite which ones; someone has them posted on their blog along with how to contact the FCC; does anyone have this bookmarked? as soon as I'm done busting over this school project, i will contact FCC.

Legal but wrong. Mr. Limbaugh, who fancies himself righteous, is anything but. Well, let's trust the karma. Thousands of people going out to violate their integrity as citizens is some spectacle. Let the SDs take note and act accordingly.

Just think, Obama has been pulled down by crazy lies, attacks on his character. Hillary has been lifted by Limbaugh, and is covered from criticism by having her truly evil deeds not made public.
The things she has done make the word bitter, and Rev. Wright seem like a piece of cake. With all of that, she still can't pull him down, and when this is over,HE WILL WIN the general election.

But this year Mrs. Morgan exemplifies a different breed: the Republican crossing over to vote in the Democratic primary. Not only will she mark her ballot for Senator Barack Obama in the May 6 primary here, but she has also been canvassing for him in the heavily Republican suburbs of Hamilton County, just north of Indianapolis — the first time she has ever actively campaigned for a candidate.

You know I was thinking the same thing, how cute it is for Barack to have some fun with his family. Also my mind went to how good it would be for the Country to have children laughter in the White House once again. Since 9/11 the Country has been almost in a state of saddness. Each month troops are being killed in a senseless war, so how good for the soul it would be for laughter and hope to once again be present in the lives of the American People.

Yes. It is important to keep in mind that we are on the verge of victory. On the day of the Oregon primary we will 25 more pledged delegates than we need for a majority of pledged. We will then got the Pelosi club of supers that have pledged to got with the candidate with the majority of elected delgates. We are also guarenteed to get at least 1/2 of the remaining add-ons. There are also a bunch of delegates that are known to be going with Barack that have not come out yet. We are GUARENTEED to win.

I'm agreeing with you on the delegate count. My concern is the voting irregularities reported in both Pennsylvania and in Guam. Am I the only one concerned? Prior to Pennsylvania, I heard nothing about any irregularities. Now, it looks like every Primary/Caucus will have them. In Penn, the MSM reported "hundreds and hundreds" of calls detailing precincts without ballots, no working machines, etc. in Philadelphia and elsewhere in the state. In Guam, Fox News just reported "hundreds of ballots lost, etc.". I've heard no follow-up on Pennsylvania and I suspect I won't hear anything else about Guam. But who has the most to lose in all of this? I believe it to be Obama. There is more than one way to steal a nomination and I don't want this to become the way it is done. Does the campaign follow-up on these things? Where can we as supporters get more info or find out what, if anything, we can do? I'm in Indiana and I fully expect there to be plenty of irregularities on May 6th.

I think it is more realistic to say that, after South Dakota, Barack may need 100 more delegates.

Barack Obama for President
Now lets take a closer look at who's really qualified and or who's really working for the good of all of us in the Senate, Obama or Clinton?
The records of these two candidates should be scrutinized in order to make an informed decision.
Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term -6yrs. and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law 20 pieces of legislation in her first six years. These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress www.thomas.loc.gov, but to save you the trouble, I'll post them here for you.
1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.
10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.
13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.
15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton 's bills are, more substantive.
16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.
17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.
19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.
There you have it, the fact's straight from the Senate Record.

Now, I would post those of Obama, but the list is too substantive, so I'll mainly categorize his contributions.
During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced
233 regarding healthcare reform
125 on poverty and public assistance
112 crime fighting bills
97 economic bills
60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills
21 ethics reform bills
15 gun control
6 veterans affairs and many othersïÂ&iq uest;½
His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427.
These included
**The Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law,
**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law,
**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,
**The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law,
**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.
In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.
An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public. He's not just a talker. He's a doer.
Pass it on....It's impressive

I am new to this blog and an avid Obama supporter. I have two items: Has anyone noticed that Hillary never talks abou what the veterans of all the wars and taking care of them when they return? My dad was in the Navy for 26 years and I rarely saw him for many years while he was on aircraft carriers. Obama is the only on that supported and did something for the veterans and there still needs to be more done. My brother-in-law was in Desert Storm and Iraq three duties. He suffers from PTSS and can't sleep without the help of alcohol. He wants to forget what he saw in Iraq. I will pay more for gas to fix roads, bridges, save jobs and help the Veterans. I lived in a Navy base in the central valley and when some of the POW's came home from Vietnam, they were scarred and some committed suicide because no one cared...it was a war we should not have been in. They need the help they deserve for protecting our freedom and I believe OBAMA has already proved that by making sure they didn't have to pay for their meals.
My second thought - Hillary obliterating Iran. This woman seriously scares me. She is a "Legend in her own mind" and I would hope that others are appalled by this. Iran has reacted, Nato has reacted. I feel that she believes that if she keeps stirring it up and throwing it out there, that this will create a situation that is a setup the next POTUS to diffuse since it won't be her. I'm a very concerned, but ardant supporter of Obama. Hillary needs to take George S (another set up) and move back to NY and let this country rest from listening to her drivel and Believing that she is God's Gift to this country. Thanks for listing. I have posted of MSNBC 4 times and they have not posted my comments....all MSM is for Clinton and it's a pathetic world. I'm so enlightened by this website and all the caring people here. Thank you

Yah, whoever is doing her botox injections, they need to take it easy and give maybe 1/3rd of what they r giving her now. Did u notice the poor woman's face, especially eyes and eye brows, during the oriley interview? But I understand her provider's dilemma; she had way too many wrinkles, and they needed to go aggressive with the botox. Wrong decision though.

I can see that Malia (the older one) is a little bit self-consicous as would be expected at this tender age of 9 years

I wouldn't worry too much about what I hear on Fox. Their main plan is to tell their audiance how horrible Barack is and why the worst idea on earth would be to vote for him. When that fails, they turn to simply trying to convince everyone that Hillary is a fighter, a winner, the winner, still in the game, a gamechanger, you name it.
Turn the channel.

More cause for concern:
Fifty-six percent (56%) say it’s at least somewhat likely that Obama “shares some of Pastor Wright’s controversial views about the United States.” That figure includes 26% who say it’s Very Likely Obama holds such views. At the other end of the spectrum 24% say it’s Not Very Likely that Obama shares such views. Just 11% say it’s Not at All Likely.
Just 7% of the nation’s voters agree with Wright’s views of the United States. African-American voters, by a 64% to 12% margin, disagree with Wright. Eighty-one percent (81%) of all voters are following the story somewhat or very closely.
Nine percent (9%) of voters have a favorable opinion of Wright. Eight-one percent (81%) have an unfavorable view. That includes 62% with a Very Unfavorable opinion.
Link
I had hoped what Obama had said already would be enough, but it's not. We can move beyond this, but not by just wishing it will go away now. It needs to be faced head-on now. After NC and IN, assuming we do well there, will give the space to move away from it. But right now it needs to be addressed still more forcefully...hopefully tomorrow morning on Meet the Press (I think that's the one we are on).

I think it is more complicated than that. However, I think some are that closed-minded and I think some will use it as an excuse. I think the persons who say they are concerned and will not vote for Obama because of Wright has some real serious personal issues. Those persons need to stand in front of a mirror and look at themselfs and question their own deep down prejudice. Because unless you know history, and is aware of the injustices that was done to people of color, and poor people, then and only then can you call Rev. Wright a liar and a person who preaches hate. Also on the Aids issue, I don't believe that the Gov. did that, but it has not been proven that they did or that they didn't. So as far as I am concerned the jury is still out on that. I know about the agent orange, and I know about the syphillis, and I know that the Government has not been honest about going to war in Iraq. So I will wait to past judgement on Rev. comments. But as far as Obama he had all the right to condem the actions and comments of Rev. Wright. Barack is trying to move people away from the ways and thoughts of the old, and move them into the future.

How many times does Barack has to give his views on this, to convince a few people whose hearts are dark anyway, they will comes around eventually. We need to not believe those polls, for instance the one where Hilliary is the only one to garner White votes, its fallacy, so know this, Barack spoke from his heart, what comes from the heart reaches the heart, and that is what people are going to make their decision on, if the heart is dark that so be it, if it is light than so be it, there is more good in this world than bad. Why don't conduct a poll on McCain and what Americans think of pastor Hagee statements about catholics and about punishing New Orleans because of their sins.
Americans know who their enemies are,it is not Rev.Wright.
Rev. Wright is not responsible for the rising gas prices.
Rev.Wright is not responsible for the Recession, for the massive home foreclosures.
Rev.Wright is not responsible for shipping American jobs over seas.
The Rev.Wright issue is RACISM in disguise. We all know what is happening.

I think these numbers can be accurate and BO's numbers not drop much. Many people do not care even if they don't like JW and the association. They still will vote for BO. Others aren't voting for him anyway and will say whatever the negative thing is that they can say. So this could be accurate and we can still be in good shape. Even so all of this will dissipate in the next few months. Remember that all of this crap happened in the last 5 weeks.

Oh, I think it is fine to bring up difficult subjects. We are not that delicate.
Of course many people think that politicians do things mostly for political reasons, not ethical reasons. That is because many people do not trust any politicians. (The entire profession has a low rating.) Since BO is running, he is, by definition, a politician. Therefore, many people will not trust his motives. QED
No surprise. That's just life in the big city, as we say in NY.

No it's not. It's time to move on. It's time to discuss the nation's problems - not one person.
What I care about, what the american people care about, are the war, the economy, healthcare, education and social security. Those are things for Barack to discuss.
if the Clintonistas want to be obsessed with the reverend and the polls, so be it. This campaign will not be defined by RW and polls.

No longer in Berlin but still for Obama
May 4th 2008 at 2:28 am EDT
I just wrote the followig email message to CNN. They are repeatedly showing this story, even in Europe. I urge everyone to dash off a letter to them. As someone just wrote on this blog--go to their website, link onto to "contact us" and then go to "general comments." Here is my letter:
To Whom It May Concern:
I am in my early 50's, certainly not naive. For many years now, I have not had much faith in the American media doing what it was once hoped it would d0--to be the "fourth estate," a watchdog for democracy, an educator of the public space. Recall that it was Hegel who once said that it was the rise of the newspapers that helped create a civil society, the essential ground for a democratic space. Certainly, those days are gone. But the unabashed bias of CNN in covering this election is beyond anything I thought possible. Your unrelenting coverage of the Rev. Wright story to the point now of ratcheting it up just before the May 3rd primaries is nothing less now than propaganda in an unbashed attempt to sway the election. I am presently on sabbatical in Berlin and can't help but compare your constant running of this story, whose end can only be to hurt the candidacy of Barack Obama, to the propoganda machine of Germany in the 1930's or even Rwanda in the 1990's. Certainly there are not yet any SS or machetes, but the constant provocation of racial emotions makes me realize just how easily a public and powerful propoganda machine (and make no mistake about it--this is what you have become) can stir the worst passions and fears of the citizenry resulting in the destruction of civil society. You have more power than any media should have and you are using it in corrupt and disturbing ways. Enough already--let the story go, report on the news, allow the voters to make up their minds based on policy positions and the overall record of the candidates.

A big thanks to everyone who called Guam!
Winning by seven votes means your calls made a REAL difference!
I have some guam for Obama buttons to give away, if anyone in Guam wants them.
Indiana and NC are coming up fast, and I am very pleased and excited!
I worked late tonight, and go in early tomorrow. So I'm off to bed. It is hard to be isolated at work, not knowing what the results were. A customer was on a cell phone asking a friend if Obama won in Guam. The friend did not know what Guam was! "Just go to CNN or something!" the woman said. I hoped she'd let me know what she found out, but no such luck. Great to find out it was a victory, however small.
If anyone wants to send some of Bush's money to Obama, please use my little fund-raising site:
Link
I want MAY 2008 to be the biggest fund month ever, because those of us with nothing are getting a little something from Bush.
If you have already sent the maximum to obama, consider making a small donation to a local non-profit in Obama's name.
Most non-profits are suffering in these hard times. Think about all of them...Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, no-kill animal shelters, Veterans Associations, summer camp programs, food banks.....and send a little of the Obama spirit their way. The non-profits I work with treasure and rejoice in every little contribution, and if something is sent in memory of someone or to commemorate something, it gets discussed. Remind the world that Obama supporters care about our communities!
Thank you everyone for all you do every day!

I had the great opportunity to really talk with both Barack and Michelle. They exude NORMAL --- they were all genuinely happy and so at ease. I had great conversations with both of them and even skated with the kids.
What should have been surreal seemed as though I was just hanging out with old friends.

For those of you who don't want to follow the link, she predicted in December 2007 that Obama will be the front runner by summer. When Montel presses her about HRC's inevitability, she says, everyone will assume she will be it, but she will flatten out.

Interesting article on why the media treatment is different now that Senator Obama is the favorite.
Link
Some of the comments.
Talking about Senator Clinton getting less treatment now
"In a ABC News interview, the former first lady said if she were president, the United States could "obliterate" Iran.
During her frontrunner scrutiny days, this would/could have been one of those bad stories that would have shadowed her for days and tossed her off message.
But because she made the comments as the unlikely nominee, it got scant attention."
....she’s right — it's going to be hard for her to become any more or less polarizing than she already is no matter how much new information surfaces.
Still later
the remaining uncommitted superdelegates are giving Obama every single benefit of the doubt and he'll get time to recover even if May 6 is a disaster for him (and "disaster" is defined by him losing both states).
It is a fascinating view as to why the media seem to gang up on 1 candidate or another

I think that there are 2 reasons. The first is that the coporate media prefers either of the other two candidates. The second is that we are the clear front runners. Dispite what everyone says we are still the most likely to win and by all metrics (other than hillarious spin) we have been the most successful. We have the most votes, states and delegates. This is true for all candidates who have run. So they go after us because we are in the lead.

I've been so interested in the response by people from other countries to Barack Obama's vision of hope and change that I decided to create a blog with this as a focus. WORLD ROLL CALL is for those of you watching, hoping, and cheering him on from everywhere else in the world. Please check in and tell me your stories. I will compile them and share them with the mainstream blogs and here, with our Obama
family.

Thanks to the generosity of many who donated their valuable frequent flyer miles, we sent 29 out-of-state volunteers to TX / OH, 32 to PA, and another 17 to IN / NC.
This means ***1,950,000 MILES*** have been donated to date -- putting ***78 VOLUNTEERS*** on the ground, helping bring it home for Barack.
Our focus now turns to the next important states.
VOLUNTEERS: If you want to spend a week or more in an upcoming primary state, but can't afford to pay your own way, contact me and I'll try to match you with an airline ticket.
DONORS: It takes 25,000 miles for a ticket. So -- who's got at least 25,000 on the same airline which they'd like to donate toward making sure Barack Obama is our next President?
Step right up -- I'm getting requests almost daily from volunteers who want to help but can't afford the airfare. Donate now, please, so we can get these people where they're most needed. *** WE NEED MORE MILES! *** No miles? Perhaps you can help pay airfare.
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don't reply on the blogs; I probably won't see your response.)

I know people who do listen to him. It is pretty simple: rage, bigotry and a chance to listen to him put people down. He has a sadistic appeal. Some people just feed on negative stuff.
I also know some fairly recent immigrants, believe it or not, who like him. They think that he is a sort of uber-American, and it makes them more patriotic and American to support him.

What they need is a lesson in manners first. They need to go back to kindergarden and get a lesson in how you treat people. Second, they need anger management therapy.
You can reach many people with a good heart and good intentions: the non-violent civil rights movement did that. But you can't reach them all.
There is a dark side to many human beings that will not leave us. Examples: Hitler and the Nazis, Slavery, Rwanda, Vivtual extermination of the Native Americans, The Killing Fields of Cambodia, Sudan today...
Rush has a long tradition of hate and evil behind him.

Limbaugh was trying to "bloody up" Obama, and get Hillary in so his candidate would have a better chance of winning, and look a little more dignified. Now, there is a possible division in the Dems, there is talk of having a viable 3rd party, and McCain is all but invisible. He did not help McCain. he hurt the Dems.
Limbaugh, and all people on radio or TV should be held to some other kind of standard that prohibits them from spewing personal poison on others. Who is to say how much influence he has on his listeners? He could tell them to physically hurt someone. Perhaps they would do that.

There is one good thing that I see come out of this. Earlier in this campaign Hillary's big argument was that he wouldn't stand a chance going against the "Republicans".
Fast forward to today...
Looks like he's getting PLENTY of experience warding off attacks, while sticking to the high road! Until this ends, lets just call this the training round.
By November a lot of people will either forget about all the crap that the MSM is currently spewing, or become unfazed by more "WRIGHT! WRIGHT! WRIGHT!" reporting. (Unless the Rev. decides to make more appearances and more harming speeches, but that is another topic).
The finish line is in sight!

We have a good relationship, but joke around a lot. He came back from college when he was 23 when he was taking a psychology class -- big grin. He said, "Now I know what is wrong with you. You were toilet trained too early." Of course, he was not being serious. i said, "And I'm paying for this class? Maybe the trouble with me is just stupidity."
If I gain five pounds, he squeezes my chest and says, 'Dad, you're getting man b**bs."
So, I think i am the one suffering elder abuse, and i have the right to fight back with the Hillary scare tactics.
If I could, when I visit his house upstate, I would sneak a Hillary sign onto his lawn at night to piss him off. A Hillary bumper sticker on his car would be too mean because he would have to scrape it off.
But he is a good guy (not a kid anymore) and we have fun.

EVERYBODY LISTEN UP!!!!
Okay. I am SICK and TIRED of all this none issue crap that is on the MSM and these so called polls.
The fact of the matter is that BO is winning and this scares the shit(pardon my language) out of certain members of the press AND certain members of Washington.
The Media is owned and operated by certain people "involved" in Government.
No such thing as FREE PRESS.
Not only are they scared of BO, but they are scared of US.
Look at what we are doing! Bo has inspired us to stand up and take ACTION for what we believe in and what we KNOW is OUR RIGHTS.
The media and their "bosses" don't like what BO stands for. Bo wants our Government to BE RESPONSIBLE and he wants US to get involved and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
HRC and MCSame want the MSM to be puppets and for US to remain SILENT and STUPID.
Looks like they underestimated the POWER OF MILLIONS OF VOICES CALLING FOR CHANGE.
The majority of people out there are really not paying that much attention to what CNN and MSNBC and FOX are running 24/7.
I never in my life watched any of these channels before this election. Most people get their news from LOCAL papers and stations.
That being said, the MSM are STILL doing an injustice and we MUST fight to get BO elected so that he will put and END to the biased, GOVERNMENT OWNED MEDIA.
He says he will tell us the truth and I take his word.
(and this isn't just those margaritas talking either)

But if he goes, there are a long line of hate-talk jerks there to take his place. It is the audience that is the real problem.

My husband and I hung out with some neighbors tonight. He (the neighbor) brought up that he was not sold on Obama. He is typically a Democrat, though he cannot stand our opponent, so it's between McCain and Obama for him. He said, "Why should I vote for Obama?" I explained that I was drawn to Obama way before he announced that he was running for president, because he stood for true change in the way politics worked, and that he inspired this previous Republican to really investigate where he stood on the issues. I also explained how someone like me - who has NEVER gotten involved before (other than voting) is engaged and passionate about politics. I have donated, I have made calls, I have written postcards, and I have blogged. I have volunteered in my community with fellow supporters. I have even been chosen as a delegate for my district's convention. He, unfortunately repeated a lot of soundbytes - RW, Michelle talking about being proud for the first time, etc. All of it taken out of context. I explained the RW thing and begged him to listen to Michelle speak first hand before he passed judgment.
I don't know that I completely broke through, but I at least made him re-consider Obama! That is something, and there's plenty of time before November, right?
Yes we can!

Dems Capture Long-Held GOP House Seat In Louisiana
By Eric Kleefeld - May 3, 2008, 11:21PM
In a further indication that the Democrats are well-positioned to expand their House majority this November, Democrat Don Cazayoux has won a special election tonight for a Louisiana seat that has been in Republican hands for over 30 years.
With 99% of precincts reporting, Cazayoux leads with 49,371 votes, or 49% of the vote, followed by Republican Woody Jenkins at 46,554 votes, or 46%. In a district that voted 59% for President Bush in 2004, that is simply a stunning result.
This is on top of another big Democratic pick-up two months ago, when Bill Foster (D-IL) won the suburban Illinois seat of former GOP Speaker Dennis Hastert.
In short, this year isn't going very well so far for the NRCC.

it's totally about race...nothing will stick to the other candidates, not like the ridiculous things that stick to Barack. The Bosnia thing, the war for oil thing...these are SERIOUS ISSUES, and they just float on by. It's going to be a tough road, and SO sad to say it stems from our media...who is in charge here???!!

Feminists for Peace and Barack Obama!
THE PETITION
In the coming elections, it is important to remember that war and peace are as much "women's issues" as are health, the environment, and the achievement of educational and occupational equality. Because we believe that all of these concerns are not only fundamental but closely intertwined, we will be casting our vote for Senator Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States.
Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, we have watched with shock and sorrow as our country has become mired in war. The resulting tragedy for our own soldiers, their immediate families and for the people of Iraq has been incalculable.
Less obvious, but no less grave has been the impact on our domestic institutions and economy. With a defense budget of half a trillion dollars and expenditures now averaging $12 billion a month for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, resources that might have been used for health care, housing, education, repair of infrastructure, relief of poverty and community development have been drained away.
We urgently need a Presidential candidate, who understands that "pre-emptive" attacks on other countries and the reliance on military force have diminished rather then strengthened our national security. And we urgently need a Presidential candidate whose first priority is to address domestic needs. We do not believe that Senator Hillary Clinton is that candidate.
We also recognize that the election of Barack Obama would be another historic achievement and that his support for gender equality has been unwavering.
Yet it is noteworthy that at a time when this position was politically unpopular and when he was aiming for national office, Barack Obama opposed the U.S. invasion of Iraq and has spoken out against the war ever since. This puts him in a far better position to articulate a clear challenge to a Republican opponent.
We are also moved by the positive tone of the Obama campaign, the tremendous energy it has released across the country, the dramatic engagement of young people and the impetus for change that his candidacy embodies.
We are speaking out now because we cannot afford to elect another President who will continue the aggressive, interventionist policies of the present.

Im sure this was posted but hadnt seen it. Shocking given all the posts.
I think the transparency of how much this is obvious pandering will hit Senator Clinton. I want him to continue to push hard on this issue. It is a winner. He needs to call her out on this. I dont like the old politics where you try to have someone vote against. This is different in my view. Two different ideas and he can push hard on this.
Link
From the article
In yet another example of the Obama campaign pushing back hard on the gas tax holiday issue, Obama supporter Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) hosted a conference call to highlight past opposition to such a holiday from Clinton supporters, including North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley and her own husband.
McCaskill, who is campaigning in North Carolina today, quoted Easley who two years ago called a cut in the gas tax a "subsidy for oil companies" and added that less than two weeks ago he said, “people need to be told the truth about it,” because such a holiday would not necessarily result in savings.
The campaign sent out an audio link to the governor's more recent comments. She also said the former president Clinton also agreed with Obama at one point in time about how short-sighted a gas tax holiday would be and said it was noteworthy that the Clinton campaign had not been able to produce experts who backed her proposal, arguing that when promoting an economic policy it was important to have at least someone who knows about economics agree with you, unless you never planned for your proposal to pass and were simply trying to get votes.

Look at that family - how BEAUTIFUL. This family is the epitome of strength, morality and courage. My family wants someone in the Whitehouse with these characteristics. Our country needs our slate wiped clean with new ideas in politics. I know that this can happen with Barack because he went to school with my cousins in Hawaii at Punahou High. They played basketball together. He is very humble and this is another quality we need in a President. Someone who will admit their mistakes and learn everything they can to do the job, but will still make clear decisions on what needs to be done . . . taking into account all of America and not using the "old political" tactics. I think we are all so very tired of them.
Let's go people, don't let this one get away from us - it's too important - really important. Our hearts would be broken if he was not successful. Let's beat this HRC MACHINE!
I was told last night in a call from Obama Headquarters that we should all donate in one week or it will be too late. The primaries are one right after another now. Barack needs as much as possible in donations. I have cancer and told the young man who called that I would have to wait a week for funds, but I'm going to donate now. I was not supposed to live past this spring, but HA! I've shown them! My main goal in life right now is to see Barack giving his inaugural speech. How Sweeeet! If you can donate, do it tonight! Sue

From the article
“I was appalled by Hillary going with the gas tax,” said Alice M. Rivlin, a budget director under former President Bill Clinton who supports Mrs. Clinton for the nomination. It “looked like pandering,” Mrs. Rivlin said.
An open letter signed recently by more than 100 economists said the proposed tax holiday would do little to reduce gas prices. In part, that is because a fall in prices would lead to more demand, which would cause prices to return to their earlier level. The result would be that overseas oil-producing governments would get money now flowing to the United States government in gas taxes.

Superdelegates must follow the will of voters
Demand that the Democratic Party defend democracy
Leaders of the Democratic Party are playing a dangerous game -- risking the credibility of the party to hand Hillary Clinton the nomination against the will of voters. Heading down this path means disenfranchising millions of voters and legitimizing a campaign strategy that has displayed a clear pattern of race baiting and divisive politics.
Join me in demanding that Democratic Party leadership and superdelegates uphold the integrity of the party and listen to the voice of voters.
Click right here right now to sign your name to this letter:

Here is the text of the message to send to the Democratic Party's leadership:
Attention: DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and superdelegates:
Dear party leaders:
The Democratic Party is playing a dangerous game and I'm writing to ask that you bring it to an end.
It has come to my attention that elected officials and party leaders are actually considering using their status as "superdelegates" to hand the nomination to Hillary Clinton against the will of voters, an action that would disenfranchise millions.
Following this course would be a shocking attack on voting rights and democracy. It would also give your seal of approval to an "electability" strategy executed by stoking race-based fear and division among voters. We expect that from the Republicans; we fight them on it every year. But now the leadership of the Democratic Party is poised to cosign this strategy of division and disenfranchisement. This could be the worst mistake the party has ever made, yet it's being talked about as a legitimate way for this campaign to end.
The voters who have come out in record numbers to participate in the Democratic Party won't allow this to happen, and as the most visible leaders of the party, you must reject the idea that the nomination can be won with a strategy that preys on racism, sows division, and disenfranchises millions of voters.
Sincerely,
Tom

I have tried to post on several of the "CNN Political Ticker" message boards. I see many of my fellow Obama nation's posts on there. But, mine show up with... "May 4th, 2008 12:19 am ET
Your comment is awaiting moderation" over them. What does this mean, "awaiting moderation"? Are these comments posting?
Also, good job in posting, nation. We need to keep getting the message out in cyberspace, as well as over the airwaves, on the phones, and on the streets. But we are being gagged on this "gas tax holiday" issue. The MSM is good for one thing...they do give us little pieces that we can use as starting points. MSNBC mentioned at the end of last week that Hillary had already promised to spend the proceeds of a "windfall profits tax" on alternative energy research. THen MSNBC let that story drop. CNN and everybody else hasn't picked up on it. If we could find such previous promises and get them to Plouffe and Axelrod so that Barack high profile reporters can use them in stump speeches...if they choose to fight a little dirtier...that would be great. Perhaps we can also find clips and paste them to YouTube. Maybe...that might not be a great idea in light of the "War Room" thing...but those statements about "windfall profits tax" proceeds going to alternative energy reseaarch can be verified...IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE DO SO IF WE USE IT ON YOUTUBE.
She is trying to promise the American people that she can spend $18 billion while only taking in $9 billion. She is trying to spend the same money, twice. WE CAN'T LET HER GET AWAY WITH THIS, PEOPLE! THIS NOMINATION IS OURS'!! BUT WE HAVE TO SAVE IT!!!

does any body know what this is
The United States Senate may vote any day on the stealth imposition of what could amount to an $845 BILLION United Nations style global tax on American citizens?
It's called the Global Poverty Act (S.2433), and it is being sponsored by none other than Senator Barack Obama.
According to some conservative sources, this disastrous legislation could eventually force U.S. taxpayers to fork over as much as 0.7 percent of the nation's Gross Domestic Product -- or $845,000,000,000.00 -- on welfare to third-world countries.
Here's what Phyllis Schlafly, conservative activist and founder of Eagle Forum, recently wrote:
"Obama's costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433), which could come up in the Senate any day, is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts..." [Emphasis Mine]
Time is of the essence because Senator Joe Biden, the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee just issued a report on the Global Poverty Act and it was placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar on Thursday the 24th.
That means that time is of the essence as this potentially massive surrender of your hard-earned tax dollars to the third world may be close to a vote.
That's why we must act now... BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
Use the hyperlink below to send your urgent and personalized Blast Fax messages to President George W. Bush and each Member of the Republican Leadership of the United States Senate.
Let them know in no uncertain terms that you are watching and you will not tolerate massive United Nations style giveaways that are passed in the dark of night -- or in broad daylight for that matter. Tell them that putting us on the road to give billions to petty tyrants and dictators is NOT a solution to poverty.
This bill can come up for a vote at any time. Demand that our conservative legislators do whatever it takes -- a filibuster if necessary -- to stop this bill dead in its tracks.

She's been on board the Obama-train (she was originally for Edwards) for some time. She knows how heart broken I am about not being able to call on the weekends and said she would do it for me/us!!
I truly believe the distractions don't matter to those good people in In, at least not to the ones I talked to before I left last week...So let's forget about Rev Wright and other distractions and PRAY, DONATE, CALL, etc, ok?

I got this link from someone who posted it on one of blogs. However, after viewing it, I could not get back to the original post.
I want to thank whoever put it here, so if you run across it, please copy and paste this comment.
I sent this to several online news media sites, so I left the wording just as it was. They will probably ignore it as usual, so I am depending on you to get this out to North Carolina and Indiana. Anywhere it will profit Mr. Obama.
Dear Friends:
Please spread this to everyone you know on line and send it to every site that will view it. I don't like playing "dirty politics", but I think this is fair game considering what has been done to Barack Obama. It was sent to several tv online cites, so I left the wording just the way it was.
------------------------------ ------------------------------ --------------
Below are links to the "Clinton Chronicles". The first is a link to an hour-long video. The second is a link to the video divided up into 11 individual videos.
Link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =Mnq5U9ovtaE&feature=relat ed
(If you have a problem with the second link, just click on "search" and type in "The Clinton Chronicles" and it will take to YouTube.)
I am sending this (I am sure you probably have this information, but have refused to share it with the public), not because I have anything against Hillary Clinton (even though I have been very displeased with her dirty tactics in this campaign).
I am sending it because Barack Obama has been so kind that he has chosen not to exploit the Clinton's dirty laundry, which they have plenty of.
While I really liked Bill Clinton when he was president, and Hillary says he will not run the Whitehouse, I know that he will be very influential, and will use the position for his own personal gain if she were to become Commander and Chief. In addition, Hillary has been involved in some of these dealings personally.
We have exploited the Rev. Wright issue so much against Senator Obama and refuse to let it go. Let's be fair and expose the Clinton's as well. The things that have happened before and after their tenure in the Whitehouse are dispicable. The public needs to know what they are in for again.

Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the May 3rd *Saturday* news content.
For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.
I run a blog that compiles pretty much every major news article and commentary that comes out each day about Senator Obama. My hope is that it's a useful tool for those who want to keep up with everything going on in the campaign. I also contribute my own commentary as well.
I hope this is helpful to everyone.

Before anyone jumps on me I am a serious Obamaniac who has donated to the campaign, bought t shirts and has a pic of Barack on my headboard... to my SO's chagrin. I live on these blogs and everything that comes out of BO's mouth! I REALLY WANT TO SEE HIM AS OUR NEXT POTUS.
In the last 3 days or so though as I have followed the polls and seen the campaigning going on... I am a little concerned that HRC is gaining so much momentum and her phony populist style of campaigning seems to be working for her.
Of course RW did not help at all. I worry about Bills relentless efforts in rural NC and fear ...could there be an upset??
Ghosh I want this thing to be over. I want to go to bed on Tuesday night knowing that BO won well in NC and possibly also in IN but I truly worry that we could get an upset in NC. Bill is brainwashing the rural folk bigtime. Anyone has the population breakdown in NC?? Maybe that will allay my fears.

Before the fantasy reporting and unreliable polls get to you too much, remember...
- ahead in states
- ahead in popular vote (by any measure!)
- unassailable pledged delegate lead
- overwhelming momentum among super delegates
- ahead in fund raising
- fired up & ready to go grass roots
- a nice boost from Guam
Its exciting and of course somewhat nerve racking. We are on the verge of making history. I find the facts above to be a very encouraging.

The polls is a way to controll your momentum, keep the momentum going even in dark storms, it will pass and the Sun will show the truth because you believed. Send Love and Light to everyone it opens up the truth in their hearts.

BANKRUPTCY BILL
This is what we need to be pushing to the Indiana working class. Hillary just helped pass a bill that makes it impossible for the working class to get out of debt. Obama was adamantly oppossed.
The gas tax is a JOKE and I CANT BELIEVE anyone would continue to want this CRAP in the White House.
But the MAGNEQUENCH STORY should be BLASTED from the rooftops in INDIANA and it isn't even getting AIRTIME. THIS COULD BLOW HER OUT OF THE WATER.
I looked for it yesterday morning and the first line of google was the video of the Magnequench scandal. By the evening, it wasn't even on the FIRST THREE PAGES of google.
The BASIS of her main CAMPAIGN LINE IN INDIANA IS A LIE.

Just two more days before yet another big Tuesday. Solid wins in NC and IN will give Barack great momentum, and bring in more superdelegates.
Please continue to donate, make calls, and write to the media (I just had to turn off CNN after watching them for 30 seconds) to stop creating the impression that it's a close race.
I hope you will consider donating to my page.

Sincerely,
Tom

Stop Fraud Act: U.S. Senate Tackles Real Estate d
2/15/06
U.S. Senator Barack Obama did something yesterday that I applaud because it’s bound to change the way our Federal government moves on real estate-related fraud. Obama, a Democrat from the state of Illinois, has introduced a bill in the United States Senate (S.2280) aimed at putting a stop to real estate transactions that are clearly based on fraudulent activity and information.
If enacted, the STOP FRAUD Act would require all mortgage industry professionals–and yes, I said ALL mortgage industry professionals–to report any suspicious mortgage-related activities by either an individual or company to the United States Treasury. Other provisions of the Bill include:
- Within 18 months of enactment, the U.S. Attorney General, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury, will be required to establish a system by which mortgage brokers and other authorized mortgage professionals may register and receive updates from Federal law enforcement on suspicious activity trends in the mortgage industry, as well as mortgage fraud-related convictions.

LESSONS
The lesson in this one single bill is that in the housing sector, Senator Obama is seems more aware of the issues that affect home owners in this cycle of the market. He was looking to tighten the regulations, while Senator Clinton was seeking to loosen the regulations.
Clinton is also claiming Obama's idea of changing
the tax code to encourage companies to keep jobs in the United States. In fact both Clintons have a history of promoting outsourcing.
Clinton is also copying statements Obama made about getting tougher with China regarding their trade policies and unsafe exports to this country.
I know this site post text of Obama's speech. The Clinton campaigns knows that too. Not surprising her speeches contain many of the points Obama has already discussed. Obama needs to tell people about the legislation he has submitted to help veterans, homeowners and others.
