Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the May 1st *morning* news content.
For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.
I run a blog that compiles pretty much every major news article and commentary that comes out each day about Senator Obama. My hope is that it's a useful tool for those who want to keep up with everything going on in the campaign. I also contribute my own commentary as well.
I hope this is helpful to everyone.

Once the Primaries are over, it would be smart if Obama made some actual policy concessions to
independents, like supporting restrictions on
partial birth abortions, and setting forth an
aggressive policy for lowering the number of
abortions by providing effective contraceptives
through Universal Health care.

I wonder how many men in Congress was the father of the aborted baby. It takes two and the guy made his choice not to use contraception. I hate how they always blame the woman when placed in a terrible decision.

I didn't assign blame. Effective contraception is
the point. I support funding research to develop
effective male contraception similar in
effectiveness to IUDs etc.

Agreed!!
I'm pro-choice (thanks to The Audacity of Hope!), but I agree that contraception should have a major roll in the Universal Healthcare system. I don't think we should take it to the point where it starts touching on socialism, but there is still a LOT that needs to be improved upon. This is a BIG issue!

I voted in the "youpoll."
I didn't realize that common folks, like us (for a lack of a better word) could actually sign up and create a poll. Maybe everyone else knew this but me.
I followed all the steps so I could create a poll. After signing up the system would never accept the characters it asked for at the end. So after trying & trying I gave up.
In any event, I usually answer all of the polling questions. But there was one
striking poll
I don't remember the particular poll question. But, it was about the speech Barack gave on Race. The person that added the blurb about the speech (same persons that created the poll question) misquoted Barack's speech. And not in the positive either. I knew it didn't sound correct so I went back and read his speech.
Sure enough the person did this on purpose.
In this last poll you directed us to. I clicked on the persons name that initiated the poll and there you can see other polls he/she has created. Interesting how this person answers their own poll.
Anyway if we start seeing the media showing "YouPolls" we know a little more about it.
Maybe a little more information that anyone wanted. But I found it interesting.
Clinton large lead in this one. But the person giving the poll picked Clinton to win.

That vote is rigged it seems, no way...plus only 225 people voted in that vote...
I always say that 60% from a total of ten people voting always sounds better than just ten people voted.
Plus, alot of Obama supporters are no longer participating in those polls from what I gather from chat amongst bloggers here.

I know that if we begin to value citizens and support them earlier in their lives and make America goals for longterm, rather than "instant gratification" fixes as always proposed by congress, less unwanted pregnacies will occur.
I also feel pro-life is caring about the people (men, women and children) in Iraq that have died and suffered as a result of the "pro-life" president's decisions.

Talking of news, how come MSM isn't making a big deal about Tehran's protest to the UN regarding HRC's statement on obliterating Iran from the map? The UN says that this is a violation of UN's charter. It was buried in the CNN website this morning and has already been removed.
Meanwhile they made a field day about the very valid "bitter comment" and last night's news about Obama sliding in the poll of polls is still in their page.
really, MSM's judgment has has gone to the dogs...

I don't see those as concessions!
The ultra left act like abortions are a good thing and it alienates centrists and the right.
Every abortion is a terrible choice to face & a tradgedy. The issue is that having government in control of choice would compound that 1,000 times.
We must ensure that choice remains in the hands of women but we must also work hard as heck to create a society in which women need not face the terrible choice and there is a whole bunch of solutions at the center of our politics for that.
We need a leader who has the courage to walk right into the left right divide and pull people together to create real solutions.
I believe that Barack can do it and I hope he will have the courage too. It will differentiate him from the "actors" just like this gas tax fiasco has.

If society can just stop viewing teen mothers as bad people having children out of wedlock and find support groups for them, I believe that the number of abortions we have each year would get lower. Think about it most people who have abortions do so out of:
1)Shame
2)Fear of being Criticized by adults (teens)
3)Wages suck when they don't have education beyond High School.
I believe BO said we have to change the way society views these pregnant women and improve education affordability , and salaries and then we will see a reduction in Abortions. I don't speak for BO, but I think he said something to this effect.
I read in his book that even though he is pro-choice, he says a prayer to God when he has to make a decision about abortions. But he knows that women will go somewhere else to get them like Guatamala and can die. Being pro-choice or pro-life is a tuff choice.....

I can't agree with you more, it is about changing how people in this society thinks. Bottom line, if girls were too young to have babies; it would have never been possible for them to produce. But many situations make it impossible for them to take care of a child. The biggest is our society. We have change into this place of people that live in the world of classes; Lower, Lower Middle, Middle, and High.
Girls didn't just start having babies as teenager's in this century, this has gone on since time begin. Problem is society has changed so much that its unacceptable, and they make it so people don't like marriage, they don't like committment, they don't like family, they don't even like being around people who are different. So were stuck...
Abortion is not right, but what if you get pregnant after you are game raped. Why should a woman have to go through that? What if she gets pregnant by a man who is marriage and he didn't tell her? What if she gets pregnant by her father who is abusive?
Do you know what type of child she is producing and the affects it will have on both the mother and the child? Even if this child is adopted they normally have problems. So, why should the choice of keeping this child be societies?
It should be her choice, and her responsibility to deal with it, not society and especially not republicans and democratic who have no real idea about what's going on in the society they are living off the backs of.

Hillary's War
In May 2007, months after declaring her run for the presidency, Hillary spoke out vocally against the war in Iraq for the first time in congress.
This was a far cry from her initial support of the war. Not only had she supported it when 23 of her fellow senators had not, she went further than almost ALL her democratic colleagues by claiming that Saddam was working with Al Qaeda, an untrue, republican talking point that scared many Americans into believing that invading Iraq was somehow linked to 9/11, though there was no evidence of this.
She did not read the National Intelligence reports, even though senators that had read it urged the others to do so, saying that the reports would prove that invasion of Iraq was unjustified.
Many colleagues believed that her support of the war was due to insecurity that she might not appear "tough" enough. Note that today, the same insecurities have been suspected as the reasoning behind her exaggerations about her role in Northern Ireland and Bosnia.
Read 'Hillary's War', a New York Times feature story detailing Hillary's history of support for the Iraq war.

I am feeling really fired up today. We need just over 22,000 more new donors to hit the 1.5 million mark. I got one of my friends to donate last night, and he sent it to his brother. Let's end this thing on Tuesday with a clear message.

I posted this on the previous thread, but I *know* we can do it if we make a hard push the next few days in IN!
I just created my first personal fundraising page, with a very small goal, just to get my nerve up.
You see, I'm pretty shy. But, I will go ahead and put myself out there, and FOR EVERY DOLLAR I RECEIVE TODAY, I will make a call to Indiana!
Yes, that's right. Me! (me?) Phonebanking. Calling total strangers and talking to them about their political choices.
But I can only do a STRONG PUSH if I get up the nerve. I'm scared of rejection!
So, please...consider making a donation to my brand new fundraising page, with it's itty bitty goal, so that I will get off my butt, swallow my nervousness, and MAKE THOSE CALLS!
$100 to Barack = 100 calls from me to Indiana!

Are you calling Indiana?
Would it help you to know….
What areas/towns you are calling in Indiana (based on the telephone number)?
What areas/towns in Indiana are more likely to vote for Obama?
Then please go to my blog:
Link
I have generated tables of information that you can print off at home, which allow you to answer these questions by looking-up the first part of the telephone number (from the on-line phonebanking tool).

FACT IS: Clinton Has Lost ENTIRE BLACK VOTE !)
It is absolutely amazing how the media is spinning the Clinton victory in Pennsylvania.....regardless of the facts. First of all, although she was leading in the polls by over 22%, she won by 9.4%....not 'double digits' which sounds so much more like a blowout. Secondly, unless Hillary wins every remaining primary by 76% or more, it is absolutley mathematically impossible for her to catch Obama in the pledged delegate count. That's just a fact. Obama is leading in delegate count, number of states won and popular vote, even though now she has convinced some in the media to count the votes in Michigan and Florida to claim a lead in popular vote, although the fact is.....those states don't count.
While the media is dissecting the demographics, for some reason they keep leaving one verrrrry important statistic out of their breakdown. The Major Fact Is.....BILLARY HAS ALIENATED AND LOST THE ENTIRE BLACK VOTE ! Where's THAT fact ? And they have the gall to think that they can claim her to be more electable to superdelegates.......with close to zero black support......ARE THEY NUTS ???????? Hillary Clinton is the first democratic presidential nominee in modern day history to lose the entire black vote ! That, too, is a fact !
THE STRATEGY IS SIMPLE:
It is time for EVERYONE to contact the DNC and every superdelegate that we can trace and remind them that due to her own actions HILLARY HAS LOST THE ENTIRE BLACK VOTE ! How in the world could she and Bill have the nerve to claim more electabilty when they have lost an entire race of people....the very group that the Democratic Party has always been able to count on.
SPEAK OUT !!!!
Call The DNC TODAY at 202-863-8000 or contact them at Democrats.org.

CLOSING IN ON TWO MILLION MILES!!!! |

Michele from Huntington Beach, CA
May 1st 2008 at 3:09 pm EDT
Thanks to the generosity of many who donated their valuable frequent flyer miles, we sent 29 out-of-state volunteers to TX/OH, 32 to PA, and another 17 to IN/NC.
This means ***1,950,000 MILES*** have been donated to date — putting ***78 VOLUNTEERS*** on the ground, helping bring it home for Barack.
Our focus now turns to the next important states.
VOLUNTEERS: If you want to spend a week or more in an upcoming primary state, but can’t afford to pay your own way, contact me and I’ll try to match you with an airline ticket.
DONORS: It takes 25,000 miles for a ticket. So — who’s got at least 25,000 on the same airline which they’d like to donate toward making sure Barack Obama is our next President?
Step right up — I’m getting requests almost daily from volunteers who want to help but can’t afford the airfare. Donate now, please, so we can get these people where they’re most needed. *** WE NEED MORE MILES! ***
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don’t reply on the blogs; I probably won’t see your response.)
HELP, HELP, HELP!!!! WE HAVE ONLY ONE TICKET LEFT!!! (Yes, I know I’m yelling. I’m trying to get your attention.)

I agree with you completely. I also don't understand how so many hard working Americans are donating their $$ to HRC's campaign, even though they are fully aware that she will likely lose. ~57% of PA voters voted for her while explicitly saying that they were pessimistic that she would win. It is unbelievable to me.

One reason she got the hall is because the guy that's been sporting her around town has alot of influence in the area apparently. She knew what she was doing in getting people to IOU her. Only the brave ones have enough courage to stand against the Clinton's favor's or not.
I think since Barack cannot use smear campaign we should make sure the world knows and sees every damaging video of Hillary Clinton all weekend long up until Tuesday for it to be blasted everyone. There has got to be a way to get the Bless the Rich People clip played online not everyone is in the Clintons' pockets. I really think to get the AA vote we need to get the word out that HRC and her hubby were participants with the Daughters of the Confederate.
Also, if we can get the video clip of the soldier that said they were offended about the sniper fire because they had actually been shot at...and that one would not forget that and that they were offended... We need to get that on t.v. and in the paper's and not allow it to go on seen....If we have to tell 2-people these stories if they tell 2-people it will get around... We have got to help Barack to win all these primaries...

If Barack was not leading in the popular vote and the delegate count they would not even be entertaining him. Look at what they did to Mike Huckabee after Romney dropped out. The media is completely biased, but that's ok we're not gonna whine about because we still have a long way to go. We're gonna stay focused and make it work.

Often labeled "the greatest generation," our SENIOR CITIZENS have seen a lot in their time. Many of them marched for equality beside Martin Luther King Jr., fought for justice with Bobby Kennedy, or answered a timeless call to service under President John F. Kennedy.
But now, many of them need help. They're concerned about Social Security or dealing with the maze of coverage for Medicare Part D. They're paying too much for prescription drugs and coping with rising costs on everything. More than anything, they're worried about the country they're leaving behind to their children and grandchildren.
Across this country and the remaining grandiose of states and territories: GUAM, INDIANA, NORTH CAROLINA, WEST VIRGINIA, KENTUCKY, OREGON, MONTANA, SOUTH DAKOTA, and PUERTO RICO---people are ready for NEW LEADERSHIP. They're ready for the torch to be passed to a new generation to bring about change we can believe in.

What do you guys say to break the ice when you phonebank?
Do you just jump right in? Do you follow the script to a "tee"? Or do you try to make genuine conversation first and then get to the nitty gritty about Obama?
I want to make an impression and get a personal touch but I also know I can't spend tons of time on the phone with each caller if I want to meet my goal of 100.

I let them know who I am and who I am calling for right away. I tell them my full name so that I appear to be up front and genuine. I ask how they are doing and if they mind if I take a minute of their time. Then I go into my rap.
If you are inexperienced it is good to keep to your script at first until you feel more comfortable. As you can experience you will find that you can deviate from the prepared script and be conversational.

In many senses it is sales. But you have it exactly right. It is a good cause. If you truly believe that, then it is an "easy sale". If it were some other "product" then it might be a problem but in this case it should be ok.
Just believe in what you say and speak from your heart and you will do fine.

But I wanted to give you some words of support. Just be yourself. When someone is genuine on the line, we can hear it. I say read from the script in the beginning to present yourself. But don't stick to the script...

Not so sure about the jeans thing.. Remember it is not the same for a person of color. I know, I know... we think different, but a lot of people think a person is worthy of something by how they dress. he still has to look presidential. There is tigma of looking too young or inexperienced and well too regular.

He needs kakis and nice shirt for everyone else...oh and Michelle by his side. It is soooo impressive and a stark difference between the two marriages. It is a nice reminder of what a family he has. It makes me smile. It is good to have the family because it does make him a "regular" guy. We all know he is looking out of them, and this will make him look out for us too!

I think he should dress the way he thinks is appropriate. I hate it when you see a candidate change things like dress and hair just to "connect" with the people. If you were giving a speech to thousands of people, wouldn't you dress for it? Now, if he is going to eat ice cream, shoot some hoops, or march in a parade, then he should dress the way he normally would for that. Basically, let him be him. He will do much better that way.

As I read these blogs and track the reasons superdelegates are moving to Barack and the responses of new donors to the Ibama Campaign, I feel there is a SPONTANEOUS GROUNDSWELL underway based on a comprehension of who BO is and a massive alienation from the mainstream media's transparent opportunism and superficial reoporting. It is clear to me that Barack is a centrist with a commonsense progressive agends that is itself becoming front and center. People are moving now because thew will not see this movement stopped. It is heartwarming after what Barack and the campaign (us) have been through.
It's not we're going to win. It's we are winning now. We are being swept to victory by a growing wave of Yeses throughout the body politic.

Want to appeal to other Clinton supers to switch?
Go here, register, write your reasons for supporting Barack, and send an individual message to every Super Delegate.
Set up very nicely - you just write it once, click on a super, and your piece is already to go on and on to each super without writing it again. It also keeps track of the ones you've written.

Besides, I think things have become far too casual anymore. Now that Obama has shown he is strong front runner and has built not only the coalition to take the white house but also keep us with a congress that can get something done-the supers are not only but also defecting to us from Hillary's camp. Instead: filter smartly.
A smart filter would do the following when someone hits the Publish Comment button:
[1] Count lines. Cut the post after the nth line, where n is a reasonable number.
[2] Trim consecutive blank lines after a certain limit, say 5 blank lines.
[3] If the size of an image is greater than say 320x240, nuke it. Allow no more than 1 image per post.
[4] Besides using ip addresses to block, also use posting names from a blacklist to block. Twits have egos, and have trouble signing anonymously

THANK YOU!!!!!
This is the very issue that got me interested in politics!
And, while this is more of a state issue rather than a national issue (thus, Obama couldn't exactly do a whole lot to help), we need to end this caste-system of public education that we currently have! The school that I (or any other kid) go to should NOT reflect how big of a house my parents have, what disctrict I live in, whether I can afford to get myself to school everyday, and whether I can afford $200 just to join the basketball team so that I can HOPE I can earn a college scholarship. It's total BS! So much for the Equal Opportunity policy!
Having gone to probably the richest school district in my country (Trenton Public Schools), as well as one of the poorest outside of Detroit, Melvindale, and Inkster (Taylor Public Schools), I can tell you that the differences in education quality--based simply on how much my parents are willing to put into the system--is SICKENING! What's the point of public education if what I pay into it is what I get? The private system works exactly the same way!
------
sorry to rant. But I ABSOLUTELY agree with you here. Even though I kind of went off-topic, the point that you just mentioned is exactly the issue that got me interested in politics.

Standing in that booth, I could only focus on making sure I voted correctly for Barack...(Did anyone else get the urge to yell out "Barack Obama" while you were in the booth?)...then I worried that the ballot box used to store the completed paper ballots was really a shredder as my husband often jokes...I fretted a second, then put my ballot in! Wow, what a rush!!! Afterward, we couldn't resist going over to the Obama Rally table that was the only campaign group near the early voting site. And, you know, I have a tiny bit of sympathy for Andrea Mitchell. I think when you are the principal beat reporter for a particular campaign, it gets very hard over time to stay completely objective. She's basically been "on their team" for months now, witness to every high and low. I can see how it would be very hard not to get caught up in that to some degree. But yeah, she did not looked pleased.

However, she and her husband Alan Greenspan have been close friends of the Clintons for

I think this goes deeper than campaign coverage, if you know what I mean!
Honestly, I think Andrea's new program was a deliberate "counter" to Keith Olbermann's show...as well as "strategically" placed in that particular day-time timeslot to appeal to stay-at-home moms and Seniors.

A loss in Indy won't matter. A loss in NC, however, would be very damaging. I just don't understand why Barack is in Indiana. He should be in NC. Anyone look at the polls recently - we are slipping in NC. Sure, we are ahead but HRC has been gaining ground and she has a record of getting more of the undecided voters at the end. We can simply not afford to risk a loss in NC.
Win NC and the supers will not just trickle to our side - there will be a mass movement. Lose NC and HRC will be able to legitimately claim she is ahead in the popular vote and the momination will be in jeopardy. (not over but certainly at risk)

Gas Tax Moratorium is No Holiday |
Report to Admin
By
Drando MI
May 1st 2008 at 3:43 pm EDT
The McCain-Clinton " tax holiday" is fraught with horrible consequences, one being the encouragement of more gas usage rather than less. This would lead to more profits for the oil companies, more funding for terrorists. It's ignoring our long-term goals to satisfy an immediate addiction.
I know that no one wants to talk about it, but a great way to start to handle the gas price crisis is conservation. Smart planning for our trips way from home can relieve some of the stress on gas prices. Car-pooling is another way to conserve. We could probably list 100 other ways to achieve conservation. While government can help, we must do our part. After all our candidate is speaking to us as adults. He says "we are who we have been waiting for." Well, let's welcome ourselves as the generation of the responsive and responsible

Gail I read the article. I think it is a good article and makes some strong points. I believe once he clinches the nomination he will employ a lot of these strategies against John McCain. He will be able to reach out to working class when he is being contrasted to someone who has totally alienated teh working class in his policies. Hillary has done many things but she does convey a serious message that is centered on the issues for working class and she does it ina a rumble and tumble style they relate to. We are about to see Barack 2.0 once the primary is over. He has fire in his belly that he didn't want to use against Clinton. It is to be used against the real opponent. John McCain.

We have to secure the nomination and part of the challenge in making that happen is to also control the message in the media.

I agree he has already made mentioned hitting McCain harder. He didn't hit Hillary hard for two reasons.
1. If he hit Hillary hard the would try to paint him as sexist.
and
2. She's a fellow democrat. Barack has loyalty. Why would you destroy someone who's playing on the same team. That just shows what kinda of person he is and that why I'm here.
McCain will get his. We just have to get Barack through this primary season.

Gail I think that is an excellent article - clearly the campaign is brilliant at running certain parts of the campaign, but communications have faltered along the way as BO readily admits. Having clear consistent talking points the media can fix on is obviously very important - and the good news is, that's an adjustment that *can* be made at this stage of the game. HRC can't take back the race-baiting or the lying.
Thanks for the great link - I hope HQ is listening!

I don't know if Barack should, in these final few days be focusing so much on elderly voters. He is not likely to get that many of them.
He needs to be trying to tighten up on his bases of African-Americans, young voters (18-44), Independent voters, new voters, white-collar professionals, men, and the few serious Republican voters that are thinking about voting Democratic this time.
But, to try to put that much time into getting Hillary's demographics (people 45+ (especially 65+), women, blue collar voters, etc., I just don't understand why he would be doing that when there is just 5 days left until the North Carolina and Indiana primaries. And, he is getting in danger of winning North Carolina by only a very small margin, and losing Indiana all together.
I say, concentrate on the bases right now, until these 2 contests are over. And, then he can move on to trying to get more of Hillary's people. He will have more time to do so later.

He is just trying to show supers that he can make inroads. His own base will not prove electablity. Viability yes, her base is a test of his electablitity so he has to reach out for it. We are solid. This new phase is about identification and unification. Its almost over, the real fight will begin soon. We'll need the elderly and working class ethnic voters on our side. With them in tow we will be unstoppable in reclaiming the American Dream.

Seniors are a big demographic in the sense that they are big voters.
I liked what you said about "bases" - however at first, I was thinking 'basics' - the basics are what make great musicians even better, sports players better, basics, again and again.
When people meet with Obama they get to know him - he does very well because he listen, and his VOTING RECORD is just outstading 800 pieces of legislation - add to that his Prime Economic, Military, Foreign Affair and Top Union endorsements. These are the foundation of this sturdy structure.
I am guessing - I could be wrong - but at this point the Superdelegates and endorsements are what Obama's working on, quietly. They continue to come out for him, one by one.
Ignoring all the theater and the rhetoric, the relationship that Obama has developed, his current reputation as productive, a team player, brilliant, service-minded Senator will finish this nomination shortly.
We need to do our basics too for the campaign - donating, phone calling, volunteering, keeping everyone's head together on the blog (no whining, no talk about You Know Who), providing those good news links, etc.

I know its never too early to plan! But these pictures give me HOPE! I come from a very conservative family and would love it if OBAMA could come sit down with them during his GE election run.
When I go home to visit (which has been more frequent now with wedding planning!) Its impossible to talk with my family about OBAMA. They just brush him off, brush off my enthusiasm as naive, etc- good intentioned, but not grounded- ie they are worried that the capital gains tax will effect them. sigh,, I won't go there for now...
I would rather vote with my moral conscience than one financial issue.
So, Obama, you wanna stop by Delaware and have a sit down with my family! My Bill Oreiley loving grandmother could be there! (wink) You can sit next to me at the dinner table I got your back! and latter you might have to play starwars with my nephew!
Can't wait until the GE when we can go head to head with McCain and use the MSM to our advantage. Its the devil, but its the only source of info most people have, they don't visit the blog and see the day to day things Obama does... like this great little town hall.
all the best and keep up the good work!

What better way to get his message out to hundreds of thousands of voters in NC and Ind then to have a national town hall.
It would be better then Hillary's town Hall on Sunday morning!
I dont know why they dont use Oprah much more!
It could only help with older and women voters.

Here is my thoughts... While yes we are banning the MSM I think it may help if we all tivo'ed dvr'ed or even watched or had Oprahs show on to boost her ratings. I know I have gotten so involved that alot of my normal shows have been put off.
I have never been this involved with politics, for me its always been go vote then forget about it. Then vote again and forget about it. I am 39 years old and never donated or blogged or attempted calls or set up a fundraising page. While I dont get alot of the political news or about delegates and super delegates or blue and red states, I have been learning and on occasions driving my husband crazy with politics.
Obama changed my outlook that no matter how rich or poor or educated or uneducated I may be, I can do something to make a small difference. He gave me hope back which I havent had for years. We support the supers who support Obama so why not do the same for Oprah and his other supporters..

The New York Senator also tells ABC’s “Nightline” that her support is “broader and deeper” than Obama’s, thinks supers should choose based on that.
Further suggests she won’t drop out if she loses Indiana next week: “I think that this is such a close election, why would any of us think that it shouldn’t go to the end?”
And keeps up a hard line when talking about Iran, repeats “massive retaliation” sentiment.

I think Sen. Obama does his best when he does not attack and act like Sen. Clinton. (She makes me sick to my stomach.) Let's not let them get us off of our theme. Like the little old lady in the video said "Obama is above that kind of stuff" and we don't need to jump in the trash with those who want to make this race trashy. I love Sen. Obama because he is trustworthy, calm, and has a high degree of integrity. That's the kind of President I want for me, my daughter, my grandchildren, and the rest of my family and friends.

I don't think any of us think that Hillary will drop out at any time. Her goal is to create an iternal civil war within the party. Her angle is if she can't have the nomination, no one can. She will have to be pushed out and if the Democratic party knows what's good for them, they will eventually turn their backs on her over time so she can defect to her true family, the GOP.

After the last primary, it's up to the party leaders (and maybe even some of her supporters) to make it clear that pushing the race all the way to the convention will be political suicide for her.

May 1st 2008 at 4:14 pm EDT
Remember when there were folks on this site who agonized over super delegates "stealing" the nomination?
Well, like a number of other short-term worries, that fear has gone away.
Because of super delegate commitments, Senator Obama has WIDENED his overall delegate lead in the last 30 days, INCLUDING the Pennsylvania results and today’s 4 NY super delegate add-ons for Clinton.
Since March 29, Obama has had a net gain of 34 super delegates, by adding 34 and losing NONE.
Senator Clinton has had a net gain of 17 super delegates, by adding 22, having 4 REMOVE their commitment to her to uncommitted, and having 1 switch himself from endorsing her to endorsing Senator Obama).
An overall net gain of 17 super delegates for Obama since 3/29.
More good news? Fully a third of the remaining about 280 uncommitted super delegates are from states which Senator Clinton CANNOT win in a general election, and, therefore, she won't campaign in them. These state's politicians HATE to be ignored, because they want to elect mayors, state legislators, and House and Senate members. Where do you think these folks' interest lie?
Long Distance vs. Sprinting |

May 1st 2008 at 4:15 pm EDT
Long distance runners plan out their strategy. They concentrate on efficiency and ease of progress. They begin at a calculated tempo because they know to leave some for the end game. As they run lap after lap, their ease of motion and effortlessness of stride is apparent. Their composure is controlled, postponing the start of weariness with their modus operandi of decreasing the energy spent. They know that their ability to outwit their challenger is the key to a big win. They sometimes allow others to view them as the little guy, although they are leading. Long distance runners purposefully run out the clock. Amid distance running, there are sprinting techniques on display. During the process of running the distance, there comes a time near the end of the race where a reservoir of motion erupts giving way to acceleration in the home stretch. They are not always the favorite to win, but they show more than enough sportsmanship to rally the crowd in the home stretch. Distance runners represent fluidity and waste no motion.
The sprinters strategy is to win quickly, therefore, sprinters have been known to jump the gun. They captivate you from the moment they take off leaving others in their dust. They leave nothing for their end game, because sprinting is allied first and foremost with power and velocity. They win once they can take you out immediately. The sprinter exhibits elevated tempo and explosive progress. They showcase their command of movement with sudden, intensely powerful action as they speed down the home stretch. Sprinting focuses on power, volatility and peak speed. The goal is to focus only on the increase of velocity, and the exertion is well concentrated.
Which one is Hillary and which one is Barack?
