one of my sons and i watched an old episode of 'family guy' last night, in which lois runs for mayor.

she says something about having to make a modest tax increase to clean up a lake ... every body gets all upset - she says 9 (they all gasp) and then says 11 (they all rise to their feet cheering wildly) ... and she gets the tax rise ...

obama is the first person in a generation to speak to the american people as though they were intelligent, thinking beings ...

let's take it one step at a time ...

To me the biggest flaw in Senator Clinton's argument is that Congress is not going to pass a 3 month gas tax holiday and Senator Clinton knows this.

Second, Congress is not going to pass a windfall profits tax and Senator Clinton CERTAINLY knows this since the Democrats have already tried this at least once. And if by some miracle, Congress got this passed, the President would simply veto it, or draw a red-line through the part of the law he didn't want to enforce -- so either way, no windfall profits tax.

This is pure nonsense and both Senators Clinton and McCain KNOW it.

I think she would want you to know that this incidents is one of those out of context snippets, [how we love those] and it is not at all clear what the man is saying. He alleges that his parents who, like he is, were civil rights activists and would come back and kill him if he ever said the n word. His sh@t comment, he says, was aimed at the actions of the Bush people. To be honest, we cannot know.

Sometimes Barack's people have used bad language, this happened a long time ago, and Hillary did not say it. It is not exactly a surprise to anyone that her people are often a little slimy, but it would back-fire if we tried to use this.

Hi Lace, I watch msn and cnn because it's very informative. Don't stop watching the news we need to know what is going on with the other candidates. What new games they are playing to win by any means necessary. I don't appreciate they Barak is being treated either on the news.
But if I don't watch it how will I know what is going on. Their's other things in the news we need to know about other than politics.

She is openly saying NC is a game changer.... I dont think she would be saying this if she didnt think it was possible for her to win or keep an Obama win to single digits (which she will spin as a win for her and the MSM will happily agree).

The Clinton campaign clearly seems to smell something in North Carolina. Bill Clinton is barnstorming the state like nobody's business on Monday. He's got nine -- count 'em NINE -- stops on Monday. Phew. One of us has argued that Hillary wouldn't have gotten this far without Bill, and can't get across the finish line because of him. BUT, if she pulls the upset in North Carolina, it will be Bill's victory. It's just stunning how well he's working these small southern towns.

I hope Barack will be barnstorming the state through Monday.

I think that there are chatters that says that he is trying too hard to get the white blue collar voters and is neglecting his core support.

There might be some truth in that. He needs one big rally in Indiana and in NC for his base just to touch base so to speak. That way they won't feel taken for granted.

The AA vote and the universities. Is there an “Obama Bus” that can college students to the polls (if the polling place is not on campus). It was disheartening in PA that so many attended the rally but didn't vote in the primary. We need the independents and youth for NC and IN.

How I agree with "Obama's European Special Forces"!

Americans are too nice, because they want everyone to like them. Instead, they should use some of their well-honed tactics on the battlefield in the electoral process.

It really makes no sense to pander to the enemy, does it? Why give quarter when one is thirsting for a win?

He needs to stress his roots more and more these next 4 days. Every place that he stops and talks to people he need to let them know that he was raised by a single white mother and being on food stamps, his father leaving them alone to struggle and then his mother left the country and he ask to stay here and his grandparents (white) raised him, while his mother was helping in other countries people that had nothing. Stress how he and Michele struggle through college. Talk about that run down car that he drove. Please, HQ have Senator Obama push this. It's who he is and people want to know. Strange that you should mention that. Whenever I watch MSM, I can usually tell if that person is for BO or HC too.

Online her supporters are really rude and misinform and tend to attack. Those who don't attack would probably vote for a Dem. candidate in November. Those who attack first are the ones who are out for revenge it seems.

I have been trying to convince my mother-in-law that Obama is the man. She is 82yrs old and she sees him as another Carter. Great speaker but to inexperience to run the country.

We got talking about Carter and she mentioned that although he was mostly a good president, his biggest problem was trying to micro manage things in the WH.

I told her that Obama is not doing that. Infact his campaign is running very smoothly and that Clinton is the one having internal problem. It is all a matter of choosing the right person and trusting that person to carry out their orders. He has good judgement and have not micro manage anything.... as far as I know.

I feel that he probably tell them what he wants and the arrange it so that it can be done and that is how he plans the WH.

I think I convinced her and she will probably vote for him in Nov. We live in MA but she was undecided and was in Florida on Feb 5 so she did not vote. She said that she believes that he will win in November because people seems to like him.

Well - I like your view but I dont think she is thinking that. We all know she wont drop out after next Tuesday. No matter what happens her campaign has already said they will take this to June (at least).

My worse case guess is that she has internal polling numbers that are looking good and making her feel confident in saying things like - cant imagine why else she would raise her own expectations in NC.

Actually I think if we have a strong win in NC and any win at all in IN then the delegates will come out en masse and we will clinch.

Keep in mind that Clinton HAS to say she's staying in, or no one will give her any money. Romney swore he was staying in, until he dropped out. Well, maybe he didn't SWEAR, but he did state that intention :)

Hey peeps,

I was watching Michael Moore in Larry King the other night. He was saying he doesnt agree with Barack or HRC's healthcare plan.

The point that he made that resonated with me was, we treat health care in general in a very corperate mindset. That its all about the profits and not about the health and well being of the people. We dont expect the Fire Dept to turn a profit, we dont expect the police dept to be profitable (depending on your point of view). We just expect them to be there as a fundamental part of society. But why isnt our health heald to the same standard?

My question is...

What do all of you think about the Health Plans being touted by the candidates? Do you have a better solution in mind?

I think Moore would like to see a nationalized, single-payer system. For that matter, so would I. In fact, Obama has stated that, if we could start from scratch, that is the model he would advocate.

The thing is, we CAN'T start from scratch. We've got a system in place, however flawed, and we're going to have to work from that system as a starting point in order to move to something that gets everyone affordable coverage. That is the political reality, and Obama has been clear about his recognition of that reality.

This is part of his appeal, in my opinion. Some folks on the left (Paul Krugman, for example) want someone in the white house who is going to be a "figther" and finally take the reins and do things just the way they'd like them to be done. The thing is, with something as big as health care, I just don't think that's going to work. We're going to have to work out some sort of compromise that Republicans will not fillibuster. That's why I don't believe Hillary's mandates will work. They simply will not get past the legislature.

Obama gets this. He wants to find real solutions that might actually become the law of the land. The left can dream all they want about finally having the power to do everything they've been denied for the last 8 years, but the Republicans aren't going to just go away, regardless of who's president. I'd rather see some genuine progress that doesn't achieve everything the left might hope for than a noble pursuit of idealogically pure doctrine that ultimately gets martyred on the floors of congress, leaving us right where we started.

as a healthcare provider, watcher of such things, a member of SEIU (america's largest union and largest union of nurses), as a consumer, and as the parent of a special needs child with medicaid and medicare, and a brother whose income is so low that he can't provide health insurance for his family of five and has a diabetic daughter who is now on SCHIP funding...lol i have an opinion.

I LOVE HR 677 (so much so that i actually know the number of the bill) but it will NEVER get to the floor to provide publicly funded health care for everyone, and if it does....well.....

NO universal health care plan will ever get passed at this point in time. Barack has ALWAYS said that his plan is a short term solution; i believe that with as split as the politics in DC currently is, this IS the proposal to cut through the crapola and get some health care for those who are underinsured and uninsured. He's right, we ARE in a CRISIS and battling out the universality aspects of Dennis' plan would be impossible.

ONCE we get this through, and we keep a strong congress to address this (and it WILL save us money, unless you are pharma or the insurance industry!), then his next step of going after universal health care is GREAT!!!!

this IS the best way; mandating something before you know how much it's going to cost makes NO SENSE IN THE WORLD TO ANYONE but hdrc and her supporters, and of course the insurance industry and pharma (who are--oh yeah!--their supporters!).

Hmmmmph! How long till the bank would foreclose?

I guess we could handle a few months (IF it happened during the winter; Iowa law prevents utilities from being shut off from aproximately November till April)...but that would mean not paying ANY major bills, eating off our meager savings and the food I store in the basement and freezers, and selling everything we don't absolutely need, on Ebay.

In the summer, we would lose our power and lights but have the garden...raw diet? ;-)

But three months (even with a total hit on all the bills, our credit rating, etc) would be about it. After that, it's grab the shopping carts and find a nice bridge to live under.

Our situation would be slightly better, I suppose, if I weren't a SAHM. But we've got a daughter in college and never can get anywhere NEAR that recommended "three month's salary" level of savings "they" all tell us we should have.

The thing that I thought was most telling was when the Hillary supported admitted two things:

"I am voting for her because I always wanted to vote for a woman" (Not because she is the best candidate)

AND

"Hillary and William Jefferson Clinton follow a great tradition of presidential families" (Now that sounds like a sense of ENTITLMENT to me).

The Hillary supporter even goes out of her way to call Barack "Osama."

So what else can we do? McCain and HRC are proposing a tax holiday on gas - so this summer you wouldn't pay the 18 cents a gallon that would otherwise go to Uncle Sam. Talk about dumb ideas. This will only encourage Americans to drive more, thereby increasing demand and causing gas prices to rise even higher. Driving more will also put more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which fuels global warming. And this will cost taxpayers some $10 billion. It's a cheap political gimmick that does nothing to stem the rising price of oil.

You want to hold oil prices down? In the short term, strengthen the dollar. Part of the reason oil prices are soaring is because the dollar is tanking. The Treasury and financial ministries of other rich countries should buy back dollars to stop speculators who are bidding the greenback down.

Over the longer term, though, China and India's insatiable demand for oil will continue to drive oil prices up, and turmoil in the Middle East will keep them up. So there's really only one way for us to go: Alternative sources of energy - wind, solar, biomass, water, and if we can make it safe enough, nuclear.

Why aren't oil companies investing in these alternatives? They have more money now than they know what to do with. Their quarterly reports, out this week, will show galactic profits. But for them, basic research in alternatives is too risky. And why should we expect them to invest in alternatives to oil, anyway? They aren't even putting as much as they did five years ago into oil exploration, as a percent of their profits. They figure the best way to keep their stock price high is to use their windfall profits to buy back their shares. This may be good for their shareholders but it's terrible for America.

That's why it's time for a windfall profits tax on oil companies to finance our way to sensible and sustainable sources of energy. Forget the summer tax holiday on gas. We need a permanent holiday from oil.

Let's chill out and take a moment and remember why we are drawn to Obama...and then let go of anything that isn't in alignment with those qualities. We are on his team. He made clear that he wanted a team that was honest, drama-free, and joyous. The posts this morning about statements allegedly made over 15 years ago by Clinton folks are pointless to bring up now.

Obama is winning this thing by his personal integrity and principled campaigning. Audre Lourde (a fantastic poet and thinker) wrote, "You can't dismantle the master's house using the master's tools." Obama is showing the world that we don't have to use the ploys and spins and diversions that have been the mainstay of American politics to win the hearts and minds of the American people and elections!

What is it that draws every "super delegate" away from Hillary, including yesterday's Joe Andrew? It was Obama's principled stance on the gas holiday and his authentic response to Wright that swayed Joe to join our team. Everyone is inspired by him and KNOWS in their hearts that he is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our country to choose a new path.

Do you really think making this doctored, grainy video viral will turn the tide? THE TIDE HAS ALREADY turned without these antics.

untrue. it did happen. Kantor's denial is what we'd expect from the Clinton campaign - but the denial doesn't make it untrue.

Ben Smith of Politico.com has since pointed out the fact that the audio is "not altered" but "enhanced" and that there are people out there who are saying they remember the offensive remarks about Indiana in 1992, back before the "50-state strategy" was being used.

This is one reason why the Clintons represent "old politics" to a lot of Democrats - and a lot of Republicans like me.

I'm not circulating it anymore, but I totally disagree with your claim that it's not authentic.

Yesterday I marched, against all odds, for the rights of immigrants. I marched 3 or 4 miles, in the scorching hot sun, carrying a sign that said, "The American Dream Doesn't Have Borders" while being screamed at by angry MinuteMen who amassed across the street from our 5-8,000 people. We made a human shield to protect us. The police arrested my friend for peaceful protest (with my video camera in tow), I think just to knock us down again (he was one who had spoken out against the march permit fees, which were ultimately withdrawn). They were threatening to me and I caught it on film (but they took the tape). There were numerous witnesses, including two lawyers.

Yet it was an amazing day for us, a triumph, where people of EVERY color came together in unity, where the ideals of Barack were laid forth and laid plain. Where people of every religion came forth to say stop, stop this is inhumane. Quakers shared the stage with Catholics. Community leaders tried hard to heal rifts. The turnout was low, and the reporting placed it as even lower, but I was there, and it was a strong moment of great victory.

SO, if a Jewish girl like myself can march 4 miles in the sun while being taunted by MinuteMen and Police for the good of the people, please tell me that you can pick up the gosh darned phone...

...right now...

and make a few calls.

Here is the text of the message to send to the Democratic Party's leadership:

Attention: DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and superdelegates:

Dear party leaders:

The Democratic Party is playing a dangerous game and I'm writing to ask that you bring it to an end.

It has come to my attention that elected officials and party leaders are actually considering using their status as "superdelegates" to hand the nomination to Hillary Clinton against the will of voters, an action that would disenfranchise millions.

Following this course would be a shocking attack on voting rights and democracy. It would also give your seal of approval to an "electability" strategy executed by stoking race-based fear and division among voters. We expect that from the Republicans; we fight them on it every year. But now the leadership of the Democratic Party is poised to cosign this strategy of division and disenfranchisement. This could be the worst mistake the party has ever made, yet it's being talked about as a legitimate way for this campaign to end.

The voters who have come out in record numbers to participate in the Democratic Party won't allow this to happen, and as the most visible leaders of the party, you must reject the idea that the nomination can be won with a strategy that preys on racism, sows division, and disenfranchises millions of voters.

When the blogs are going crazy with "the sky is falling" types of posts, you bring us back to earth with truth and positive energy. video is not doctored. the video was unchanged. audio was enhanced to increase the volume from the original. subtitles were added. but it is very clearly a statement by Kantor from 1992. there is no question. Jake Tapper remembers people wondering what Kantor was saying. Ben Smith says that it's plausible, but not 100% sure, that he actually said it. The editor (a Clinton supporter) denied that he could remember what Kantor said, but it's clearly hard to hear in the original.

We are above this. But that doesn't mean we need to lie about what happened.

Let's chill out and take a moment and remember why we are drawn to Obama...and then let go of anything that isn't in alignment with those qualities. We are on his team. He made clear that he wanted a team that was honest, drama-free, and joyous. The posts this morning about statements allegedly made over 15 years ago by Clinton folks are pointless to bring up now.

Obama is winning this thing by his personal integrity and principled campaigning. Audre Lourde (a fantastic poet and thinker) wrote, "You can't dismantle the master's house using the master's tools." Obama is showing the world that we don't have to use the ploys and spins and diversions that have been the mainstay of American politics to win the hearts and minds of the American people and elections!

What is it that draws every "super delegate" away from Hillary, including yesterday's Joe Andrew? It was Obama's principled stance on the gas holiday and his authentic response to Wright that swayed Joe to join our team. Everyone is inspired by him and KNOWS in their hearts that he is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our country to choose a new path.

Do you really think making this doctored, grainy video viral will turn the tide? THE TIDE HAS ALREADY turned without these antics.

Here is today's news, covered by NPR, on the Women's Voices Women's Votes story.

The group recently tried to disenfranchise African-Americans in North Carolina.

When pursued, it was discovered that it was a pattern that had occured in many states, some of which had filed legal action.

The Attorney General of North Carolina stopped the group from further robo-calls from a "Lamont Williams" on Wednesday.

Countless damage may have already been done with confusion incurred by voters, who were given misinformation.

Tepid apologies came Thursday from the group.

However, today NPR repudiates their apology, explains clearly how the group is deeply connected with Hillary Clinton's campaign (even Maggie Williams, a well-known name and face there as Clinton's key Campaign Manager, is on this board).

The group continues to face a potential Felony charge, and has many unanswered questions looming over it that they've simply declined to answer.

When Bush/Cheney came to know that the war intelligence was totally wrong, what did they do? American people spoke out, shouted , protested and made their voices clear in the congressional election but is Bush/Cheney listening? I will like to follow a leader who will change course whenever he/she discovers a better route. You don't need to eat all the food before you know how it taste. This singular action of Senator Obama is enough of an indication for me of the kind of President he would be if elected. Why is it not possible that Obama was completely unaware of those particular “you tubed” offensive views of Rev Wright as claimed when so many in that same congregation for years said they were equally unaware? If there is no evidence against Obama 's claim , why then judge him on suspicion or hypothesis? Why assumed that he was not honest? That is cruel !!! Why do distrust a person with a track record of honesty and clarity and then give trust to somebody who has proven to be a political liar or player. I don’t understand your thinking power. It is Hillary that needs to give us reasons why we should believe and trust her. When Obama became aware of Wright’s offensive comments when aired on TV, he denounced them in strong term giving Wright a benefit of the doubt and giving the facts that they were not recent comments. Here is today's news, covered by NPR, on the Women's Voices Women's Votes story.

The group recently tried to disenfranchise African-Americans in North Carolina.

When pursued, it was discovered that it was a pattern that had occured in many states, some of which had filed legal action.

The Attorney General of North Carolina stopped the group from further robo-calls from a "Lamont Williams" on Wednesday.

Countless damage may have already been done with confusion incurred by voters, who were given misinformation.

Tepid apologies came Thursday from the group.

However, today NPR repudiates their apology, explains clearly how the group is deeply connected with Hillary Clinton's campaign (even Maggie Williams, a well-known name and face there as Clinton's key Campaign Manager, is on this board).

The group continues to face a potential Felony charge, and has many unanswered questions looming over it that they've simply declined to answer.

24-hour cable news is a horrible way to learn about this campaign. They overreact, spin, twist, correct, change, and redo their stories every hour on the hour.

This is one of those mini-yays.

I noticed that the IA poll done 4/29 that had Clinton at +2 has now corrected to Obama +5. Not really anything to write home about, but now every poll at RCP has us ahead; and more importantly, it's an uptrend.

It's worthwhile to notice that they've adjusted the percentages to be a little closer to reality:

33% black
41% under 45, 59% over 45

Obama 79% black

What's very interesting is this crosstab:

Obama wins in 18-29, 30-44, AND 45-64. He actually wins 45-64 by 51-42.

Clinton wins 65+ by 53-39.

Flo, I don't know the answer. Someone here might. But I think that his goal will be to get us OUT of the war thus the need for a draft will be a moot point. I also think that HRC & MC would institute a draft too...they may just not admit it.

I would tell her that the BEST way to protect her two boys is to vote for the one who voted against the war in the FIRST place; the one who didn;t vote to send ANYONE to fight it; the ONE who was thinking about her boys when no ONE else was.

That's my very honest answer, but I'm sure greater minds than mine can give you a more educated & compelling outline of points for you to share with her.

That is NOT true. Actually military experts have said that if we maintain the war in Iraq, because our military is overstretched, if another emergency happens elsewhere in the world, we would not be able to handle it. This is why he wants to end the war in Iraq.

His proposal for the military is to offer $4000/year tuition credit for students who want to go to college and in return, for example, you can sign up as a reservist, or national guard, etc. This will help increase the size of the military.

McCain, by continuing the war in Iraq is the one who may have to impose a draft, because we don't have enough troops and they are being overstretched and treated unfairly because of the Iraq war.

Obama is saying that one of the reasons that the military is so totally overwhelmed right now is that they have an all-volunteer military. They can't find enough good men and women to serve.

Barack has not at any time ever said he wants to bring back the draft. Hillary on the other hand who is supported by Charlie Rangel (someone who has actively been trying to bring back the draft for years) will and it is widely known in media circles that Hillary plans on doing this.

I would also add that the reason that Barack is pushing for his national service program is to keep a draft from happening because he knows there is a quiet push in democratic and republican circles to bring it back. He is looking out for young people everywhere.

I agree. This entire last month or so has been based on the Clintons and press seeing if they can force Obama's hand. They want to force him to play dirty. The press has stuff, we know they do. Hillary has her CIA-trained hackers working overtime to make sure they cause as much chaos as possible on our website.

The Obama website was attacked last night just like it was on April 13th, with pages on here re-directing people to a donation webpage on a site called secure.ga3.org - I did a traceroute on that address the last time this attack occured.

The IP number of the secure.ga3.org page came back as 65.160.234.53 - with a visual IP traceroute, this number originates in the 95833 zip code in a residential area of Sacramento, California with the internet service provider of ragingwire.net and not bluestatedigital which the legit Obama donations page goes through. I was able to trace the IP number with the webpage whatismyipaddress.com which can confirm this traceroute information. It can be verified by going to this website Link and entering the suspected IP number 65.160.234.53

I found it very odd that someone would choose last night to attack the Obama page. So I did a very careful check of the source code of both this suspicious secure.ga3.org page and now the one on Hillary's donation page on her campaign site.

The code for both pages is very identical in certain spots, which leads me to suspect Hillary is trying to illegally trick people into donating to their campaign when they think they're donating to Obama. I saved as .txt files the source code of both pages. Also I noticed that the secure.ga3.org pages have a copyright 2007 date and not 2008.

Remember, if the Barack Obama website suddenly starts acting weird and redirects you to secure.ga3.org, DO NOT DONATE TO IT! ONLY donate through the official page at donate.barackobama.com - report suspicious redirects as soon as possible.

The timing of the donation website attack cannot be considered accidental. Obama has shown himself very Presidential this week by finally ending the Jeremiah Wright controversy, while Hillary still cannot figure out how to pour herself a cup of coffee in a gas station.

PLUS HILLARY IS BROKE! She was 10 million in DEBT going into Pennsylvania and her bragging of how she raised 10 million the day after means she is STILL AT ZERO!

The letter was signed by former party leaders Kenneth Curtis, Charles Manatt, Debra DeLee, Don Fowler, Steve Grossman, Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell, and Clinton adviser Terry McAuliffe. It was also signed by the family of the late Ron Brown, who served in the Clinton administration.

As for what's going on here in Charleston, anyway, Obama has lots of support. I think the same can be said for the college towns of Huntington and Morgantown.

It's the rural parts of the state -- which is, like, 90% -- where we're struggling. These are the folks that Kennedy won over after similar struggles.

My suggestion is for Barack to tour the coalfields with Ted Kennedy. This state is proud of giving Kennedy the win; perhaps we could do the same for Barack.

Brooke, is it true that an Independent voter in W VA who may want to vote either Democrat or Republican must ask for that specific ballot? Otherwise, he or she will be given an Independent ballot which does not offer the option of voting for a presidential candidate. Poll personnel do not volunteer that information. IF that is so, perhaps that would be something to give some publicity to.

Yes, Independents can vote in the primary, but they have to ask for the appropriate ballot. Kinda strange, but this is the first year that Independents can vote in the primary.

So... when you're making calls to W.Va., be sure to remind folks of this fact.

Also, early voting is still under way. I gave directions to a lady at the coffee shop just this morning. She smiled at my Obama pin.

NPR has an article about these robocalls and the link to Clinton.
This Women's Voices group is involved in some brow-raising financial activity also.

Here is an excerpt from the article linked below:

Investigating the Origin of the Robocalls

The Institute for Southern Studies began investigating after receiving complaints about the robocalls. The institute traced the calls to Women's Voices, which has acknowledged responsibility.

The Institute turned up other complaints about the group as well, in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin. A "Lamont Williams" robocall similar to North Carolina's ran in Ohio last fall. In Virginia, robocalls days before the February primary caused voters to flood the board of elections with phone calls, in turn triggering an investigation by the state police.

Kromm says this shows at least five months of a "deceptive tactic, illegal in many states." He notes, "Each time this group is criticized for this activity, they apologize for the confusion."

The North Carolina attorney general says the robocalls are illegal. State law requires that automated phone calls identify the sponsoring group and give the recipient a phone number or other means of contacting the group. The Lamont Williams call did neither.

In addition, though, I want to encourage everyone to just take some individual initiative on this.

I went down to North Carolina for vacation last month for a few days. Before leaving, I went to the North Carolina board of elections website and downloaded a bunch of copies of the voter registration form. I carried them with me, along with some envelopes, and asked people wherever I went if they were registered to vote.

Much to the embarrassment of my two teens, I solicited people in restaurants, in stores, and while waiting in lines. I'm proud to report that in those few days I registered eight different people to vote. In addition, I directed many others to the Obama website where they could register themselves online. (I carried slips of paper with the web address preprinted on them.) I also handed out lots of blank voter registration forms and pre-addressed envelopes for those who preferred to fill out the forms another time and mail it themselves.

So I encourage you to start your own little voter registration drive over the next six months before the election. Set a goal and take your materials and a clipboard to work, to church, to your kids' soccer games or other sporting events you attend. Bring them to the car-pool line at school, and even when you go to church. Some of the best places to register are where people have to sit and wait because that's often where they'll welcome the distraction. (Think: trains, buses, airports, etc.)

The video is true. If Kantor is saying that the latter part is not true, he's lying. Truth is a defense against libel and slander and in this case, it's true.

If you live in NC or IN, and still have friends or family that are leaning Hillary or undecided, I think it's a good idea to email them this article that appeared in the New York Times last May, a feature story that detailed Hillary's history of support for the Iraq war and how she skillfully repositioned herself from one of the most vocal supporters of the war to an anti-war candidate when she decided to run for president.

If the mainstream media would bother to report on the important issues instead of silly things like bowling, if they bothered to discuss the biggest blunder of our time, the war, and how we got into it, if they bothered to elucidate the history of all the candidates on this war, and on our approach for the future, then the choice between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton would be like night and day.

Hillary's current anti-war rhetoric is a far cry from her initial support of the war. Not only had she supported it when 23 of her fellow senators had not, she went further than almost all her democratic colleagues by claiming that Saddam was working with Al Qaeda, an untrue, republican talking point that scared many Americans into believing that invading Iraq was somehow linked to 9/11, though there was no evidence of this.

She did not read the National Intelligence reports, even though senators that had read it urged the others to do so, saying that the reports would prove that invasion of Iraq was unjustified.

Many colleagues believed that her support of the war was due to insecurity that she might not appear "tough" enough. Note that today, the same insecurities have been suspected as the reasoning behind her exaggerations about her role in Northern Ireland and Bosnia. With current rhetoric refusing to have discussions with unfriendly states and instead threatening to nuke or obliterate them, we need to really ask ourselves if we want to continue this kind of thinking that got us in the mess we're in right now.

HRC says that a gas-tax holiday would be paid for with a windfall profits tax on big oil. And she says it with a "no problem, done deal" air that might convince you this is as easy to get through Congress as a proclamation honoring Girl Scout cookie drives.

The reality:
-There hasn't been an oil windfall profits tax since 1980.
-The last tax was so riddled with holes that it generated only $80 billion in revenue before it was dumped in 1988, far less than the $393 billion projected.
--During that time, the nation's long-term problems festered, including growing reliance on Middle East oil.
--She will be risking the jobs of tens of thousands of construction workers, who are fighting like hell to make sure that tragedies like the Minnesota bridge collapse don't become a front-page staple of newspapers across the nation.

There may be a good reason for a windfall profits tax ,but it is hard as hell to get into law. And it's even harder to construct as part of a REAL solution to the REAL problems of energy.

But that's not the point here, now, is it? HRC's just offering the windfall tax as cover so she doesn't look totally irresponsible out there with TV crews watching her squeeze Joe Taxpayer's pump handle.

These polls are not scientific, but they shape perception. That is the reason why I participate, 'cos most people don't do the kind of research some others do. It was written somewhere in here that there are alot of negative ads being played in North Carolina by the RNC about Barack Obama.

Isnt this proof enough for the Super Delegates that Obama needs to be the nominee. The republicans are spending huge amounts of money in every effort to go against Clinton. They know the dirt on her is so large that they can open a new can every week up until the primary. Why are the super Delegates not looking at this?

Thanks to all of the superdelegates who have been standing up and endorsing Barack. I am sure that these are not easy decisions for many of them. The majority of them have close ties to the Clintons and many have served in their administration. When they do come out like Bill Richardson did, they get hate e-mails and are called names on the news or their endorsements are attempted to be diminished. If Clinton believed so much in the Democratic party she would have conceded already, because it is a mathematical impossibility that she win.

The following appeared on a page listing polling results of various pollsters whre Zogby finds Obama definitely ahead of Clinton in North Carolilna:

Zogby has been right on during the past couple of races and they seem to be an outlier here with respect to how Obama is doing in North Carolina and Indiana. Zogby definitely tends to get the most media coverage so we should expect this "Obama is fading" rhetoric to lessen with their favorable Obama predictions. And if Zogby is right on with these results, Clinton would be the one that's fading. With the race just a couple of days away, let's see how these things roll and if there are other pollster coming out in agreement with Zogby.

Okay, going on O'Reilly and agreeing with what he had to say, agreeing with McCain on the gas holiday that hasn't a snowball in hell of happening this summer, notwithstanding even working, and being only a way to garner attention to the hopes of voters who perhaps don't know the difference between rhetoric and truth, is dishonest and dare I say sleezy.

Hillary does seem to be getting really cozy with republicans these days and she's beginning to sound like one, act like one so I imagine she is one. Her politics have proven to be Carl Rove-esque, to say the least. She and her campaign make up despicable lies against Obama beause they have nothing to harm him using the truth.

Hillary would gladly tear apart the DNC and the party's constituents in order to give the election to McCain so that she can be president in 2012. I think Hillary has a personality disorder and she should be checked out mentally and I mean this. I am not mud slinging here.

Hillary and her nasty campaign is tearing not only us but in essence the world. It is a dangerous game she is playing and I think we should be in an uproar over this. I know it's not the time. But it's hard to sit idle while she is creating divisiveness and havoc within our borders now and now do anything but pray to the Creator that she doesn't get away with it.

I am truly sickened by Hillary. Hillary is definitely wreaking havoc to tear the DNC apart just so she can be president in 2012. I don't have a bit of respect for Billary. So I give this to the Creator to do His will and what will be done will be the will of Him and not me.

We need to let the war room video thing go. After we get the nomination we may find ourselves trying to explain it away because the Republicans will make it a Democratic issue. Carville and the rest of that crew are still with the party so this issue may become a liability even though BO had nothing to do with it.

I was talking to a friend of mine in Sherman, TX this afternoon and asked him if he knew what the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933 was and he had no idea.

If any of you are not busy, please GOOGLE that topic and include Bill Clinton's name. He repealed it in 1999 and they are saying that is the PRIMARY CAUSE for today's Foreclosure Crisis. There are countless articles and I think voters need to be aware of this.

He is blaming George Bush (also at fault) for failed policies, but he signed the new Act - Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act instead and that's when all he*^ broke loose.

Incidentally, millionair Senator Gramm is McCain's campaign co-chair.

Attention: DNC Chair Howard Dean, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and superdelegates:

Dear party leaders:

The Democratic Party is playing a dangerous game and I'm writing to ask that you bring it to an end.

It has come to my attention that elected officials and party leaders are actually considering using their status as "superdelegates" to hand the nomination to Hillary Clinton against the will of voters, an action that would disenfranchise millions.

Following this course would be a shocking attack on voting rights and democracy. It would also give your seal of approval to an "electability" strategy executed by stoking race-based fear and division among voters. We expect that from the Republicans; we fight them on it every year. But now the leadership of the Democratic Party is poised to cosign this strategy of division and disenfranchisement. This could be the worst mistake the party has ever made, yet it's being talked about as a legitimate way for this campaign to end.

The voters who have come out in record numbers to participate in the Democratic Party won't allow this to happen, and as the most visible leaders of the party, you must reject the idea that the nomination can be won with a strategy that preys on racism, sows division, and disenfranchises millions of voters.
