This morning, over one hundred students at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania came together to listen to actors Dule Hill (The West Wing, Psych), and Zachary Quinto (Heroes), speak about why they support Barack Obama for President.
Dule Hill challenged students to get involved in making a difference in our country. He said that the college students' generation is at a crossroads, but with a leader like Barack Obama, students can bring about real change. Dule spoke about his personal reasons for supporting Barack, the main one being that Barack is the only candidate in this campaign who has not taken money from federal lobbyists. He said:
[Barack] is removing the barrier between the American government and the American people. His passion for people and his desire to help communities is set above the select few who are trying to buy his votes.
Zachary Quinto reminded students that voting is one of the most important decisions that they can make, especially in this historic and exciting election. Zachary believes that Barack Obama is the only hope that the future generation has to unite what has become a divided country. He told the crowd:
Barack Obama brings people together because he knows that we are the foundation of this country. He wants to empower us. He wants to get everyone involved in the political process and system. And he can lead us into the future.
After speaking, Zachary and Dule met with students to answer questions on a variety of issues. They also encouraged students to get involved by registering to vote, volunteering for the campaign, and visiting the website to learn more about issues that they deal with personally.
There’s only one week left to register to vote—be sure to fill out your registration form! And after registering, don’t forget to join a neighborhood team to help spread Barack’s message.
