The campaign has been highlighting organizations that are helping with Hurricane Gustav relief efforts today. Save The Children is one more organization that is dedicated to helping those affected by this natural disaster. The organization sent staff to the Gulf Coast last week to help ensure the safety and protection of children before, during and after the hurricane.
Along with deploying staff, Save The Children has distributed 1,500 backpacks that contain teddy bears, flashlights, safety whistles, craft activities, personal supplies such as washcloths, bars of soap and toothbrushes, and other items to comfort frightened, displaced children at shelters throughout Louisiana. They have set up 'safe spaces' in shelters that provide an area for children to play and regain a sense of normalcy and security. They are also working with shelters to meet the immediate needs of families who need supplies such as diapers and wipes, baby bottles, diaper rash ointment, etc.

So Lace, I still need to raise $1000 to get to my FR goal so that I can post my Denver blog. But the $$ is coming in VERY slowly.
Should I stick to my objective of raising the $ or should I just post it?
The longer it takes the more I write! LOL. I think it is getting too long!
What to do?
Whatever Lace decides, I'll do.

Post it on googledocs and give the link ONLY to those who donate from now on to your page. Sure, a few people who shouldn't find out will find out, but I think you'll be able to keep it within limited hands.
Once your goal is met, make the blog public.
What do you think?

Cindy McCain asks for Gustav donations to be sent to unidentified website
Cindy McCain, at the Republican Convention, asked that donations of money for Gustav survivors be sent to "CauseGreater.com"
The following information shows that the registration for that domain is secret. The identity of the true owner is hidden; protected by Domains by Proxy, Inc. The info shows that the site was opened August 29, 2008 and is set to expire August 30, 2009.
If this is a legitimate site to provide relief for disaster victims, why is the administrator's name and information not disclosed? How can those who make donations be sure where their money and credit card information is going? Or more directly, are these donations going directly into McCain's campaign coffers?

And I'm suspicious of the $47M they raised for AUGUST!! I'm sure they have it but I'm just as sure it's mostly from oil lobbyists, especially with the addition of Palin tot he ticket.
Consider the donations that are mailed. The last mail date was Sat., the 30th! Mail does not deliver on Sunday nor today (Labor Day). So, how could they account for all mailed donations?
He doesn't have the supporters but some good old boys certainly have kicked in! We need to push on our donations. I hope the birthday donations weren't all that ppl were relying on. I have a sense that some folks did too much patting themselves on the back after Aug 4th.
No matter what was raised in Aug., which we won't know until around Sep 20th, WE ARE IN CRUNCH TIME NOW AND NEED TO GIVE AND COLLECT EVERY DIME WE CAN!

It looks like this website was set up specifically by the McCain campaign to collect $$ for hurricane relief for this particular storm. I am assuming that they will take the money collected and turn it over to the Red Cross and other REAL relief organizations. I sure hope so. I would bet that the reason they did it this way is so they would be able to say how much their supporters gave, unlike Barack who asked his supporters to give directly to the Red Cross or Save the Children. So much for taking off their Republican hats...

There is no way to track internet donations, apparently. The question remains, why would it be necessary to disguise, hide, or not identify the administrator or technical contact for a disaster relief site?
Everyone who knows anything about the internet knows that people who donate money via the web usually want to know where their credit card info is going and to whom.
Disguising it makes it LOOK suspicious, even if it is on the up-and-up. But again, why would donations to disaster victims need to be cloaked?

There are no limits to raising money for relief efforts. Any way let them republicans pay for their negligence of Katrina, economy... heck bush's policys that advantages them. Well its time they paid up something with their fake selves. You really think that they are doing it out of conviction or political expediency to get mileage at their non starter convention.

Hope is not a method. Obama is "all hat and no cattle". Talks a big game but doesn't articulate how he will get from point A to point B.
Biden is an even bigger joke. Continually opens his mouth before putting his brain in gear. He's a train wreck waiting to happen.
This campaign and the support it is getting is proof positive that America has a large population that has "dumbed down".
I love the statement about meeting with that lunatic from Iran with no preconditions and then threatening him with "isolation". Yeah, that'll get him quakin in his boots.

Weird new talking point from the McCain campaign. They're now saying that Sarah Palin, or perhaps we should now be calling her General Palin, is "Commander in Chief" of the Alaska National Guard that is fighting in Iraq. I'm sure the governor is the de jure chief of the state's national guard, but to imply that she's somehow the equivalent of the Commander in Chief of the US military, direct Alaska's forces in the fight against Al Qaeda, running through war plans and launching rocket attacks, is just laughable. Don't take it from me. Take it from the general who runs the Alaska National Guard:
Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, adjutant general of the Alaska National Guard... said he and Palin play no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard. The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations.
Oops.
This interview, below, is simply astounding. CNN's Campbell Brown just obliterates McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds who simply refuses to answer, is unable to answer, the simple question as to what foreign policy experience Palin has. He couldn't name one decision she made as commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard.

What trials have Sarah Palin had as a test of her experience?
Why weren't her medical records part of the vetting process? When did she learn she was carrying a baby with Down's syndrome? Was it a difficult pregnancy? How did she get back into shape so soon? What is her secret? Did she have a tummy tuck after five kids? Does she have a support group? Who is Levi?
Is it true that her daughter was allowed to miss five months of school? Why?

Obama was just on Anderson Cooper. Excellent interview. There will be more of the interview in the second hour of AC 360 which runs from 11 - 12 EST.
I really thought he answered the question on his experience vs. Palin's very very well, directly hitting her on her limited experience in "What"silla and his running the campaign.
He also highlighted his work in the post-Katrina legislation.

Frankly, He was on it. Speaking the truth. Like how the American folks r generous and a government cannot do everything....but we have to learn to respond immediately after a storm. He did not want to take away from the storm by landing anywhere...hence he did not want to be a distraction for a photo opp. If need be, he will be the on the ground in a hot second. The main thing is to get help to the folks on the ground. The budget of Governor Palin is 12 million a year with 50 employees compared to managing 2500 employees with a budget of three times that amount by Obama in ONE Month. His ability of managing large systems and execute has been made clear by his campaign.

How can the GOP say they are for America first when the audience reflected who they really are for...there was no multitude of multi-cultural people there!?
About Mrs. Palin's daughter, Bristol, is her middle name Creme? If this had been BHO' daughter, there would be no holding back on the GOP and the conservative side!!! Statistics about young Black unwed teens would have come up and fault and blame would have been laid. The GOP is using this one to say that they are about family and forgiveness -- to their own kind.
Does this mean they are going to address birth control, self-control, sex education, motherhood, equal pay, job security, maternity leave, daycare, food stamps, and welfare issues in a big way? If Bristol did not have mom and dad with money in the bank, would she not have become a statistical welfare mother on food stamps and government housing?
I commend Obama for his judgement about letting that one go...it would have been a cheap shot taking it out on a kid who is just like anyone else's kid...young and dumb at age 17. Their brains are still growing. But, I still think of Harvey's Bristol Creme being the favorite drink of someone who names their kid Bristol.
Liquor and brew and oil in Alaska too!

As usual, our next President was... presidential. Concise, articulate, sincere answering Anderson's questions about what is happening in the Gulf right now.
To Anderson's question about "some people are saying" that what makes Barack think he could respond to a situation like this more effectively than Governor Palin since she has the executive experience.... BO says that he's aware that the Governor was Mayor of Wasilly...
seriously..... ooops.

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has canceled a planned overnight stay in Milwaukee to return to his Chicago headquarters and monitor Hurricane Gustav's damage to Gulf Coast states.
The campaign said Monday that Obama may revise his plans to campaign mainly in Pennsylvania and Ohio later this week. He canceled plans to spend Monday night in Milwaukee and to hold a small event there Tuesday morning.
Obama's 16 campaign offices in North Carolina solicited non-perishable goods for Gustav's victims. Other state campaign organizations may do the same, Obama spokesmen said.

Hello fellow bloggers!
The Ghost Writer Guild (a new Obama group) will be publishing op-ed articles that support the candidacy of Senator Barrack Obama, and we would like your help.
We are asking you to cut and paste the featured op-ed of the day into the peer-to peer communication tool provided by HQ.
Today’s featured article, The Hurricane and John McCain - Take Two, points out the shell game that John McCain and the GOP are trying to pull with their politicization of Hurricane Gustav. Please remember that it wasn’t that long ago that McCain was eating cake while New Orleans was drowning. John McCain would like you to forget. You can read the article here:
Link
Have you used the peer-to-peer communications tools yet? The peer-to-peer function is an incredibly powerful and easy to use tool to widely distribute letters and articles to national, regional, and local newspapers. It is as easy as entering your zip code and contact info!
Link
Please cut and paste the featured article into the peer-to-peer tool and send it to your regional and local newspapers. If we all participate, this article can be read by thousands of editors, and may ultimately reach many more readers (and potential voters!).
In addition, you can access other archived articles on The Ghost Writer Guild blog:
Link
Feel free to cut and paste any (or all) of these stories and use the peer-to-peer tool to spread the word that Barack is the right choice for President, and John McCain is the wrong choice.
Please help us get the word out! The pen (or the PC) is mightier than the sword, but only if potential voters read those articles. You can make that happen.

The point many are missing with Sarah Palin is not her inexperience. It is the fact that the American voters do not have much time to get to know her before the election. We have had two years of constant media coverage of the other candidates as well as extensive knowledge of the backgrounds of Obama, McCain, and Biden. Palin has been in the spotlight for two days and pregnant daughters and state congressional investigations have already surfaced. Because of the time frame before the election I don't see any let up in scrutiny to this new comer. Republicans are already saying that everyone is being unfair to her but McCain picked an unknown VP so what do they expect.

I respectfully disagree. Her inexperience is an issue and should not be given up. Obama did a great job at contrasting his experience in managing his campaign to her turn as mayor. He's had a bigger budget, more people, and more intense media scrutiny
Also, people please don't miss all the political issues being leaked through out the day.
1. Attempted recall as mayor
2. Trooper gate
3. Supports bridge to no where
4. SOUGHT ear marks
5. Lied/doesn't understand National guard is under federal/state law: Feds do war. State does natural disasters. When has she mobilized the guards?
She's not vetted. We've sweated out the vetting of Barack and remember how painful that was. Now in less than 65days she will get vetted by the media

I never knew Alaska wanted to break away from the U.S. until now. Why? Would they have a king or queen?
And, I didn't know Cindy McCain has a half-sister who is living moderately. What IS her family like? Are there more siblings? She can go to a foreign land and adopt children, but won't allow her sister to share in her father's wealth? It appears that everything they do is for show points--not genuine enough for me. I don't know who they really are. Why is Cindy still wearing a brace or cast on her wrist? Is it broken? Did she fall?
Do Cindy and John belong to any church? It seems as though they both have their own religion -- selfishness and greed. Are they going to take "In God We Trust" of the money? Will they pass atheist laws? Will they appoint judges who don't believe in a higher power other than the president? Will they cross God out?
And face it, John McCain doesn't see the big picture? He only sees whats in front of him. We don't need a third world war with Korea...we just might have to start sending people over 60 to fight the war. Its okay because they've got experience!

Members of 'Fringe' Alaskan Independence Party Say Palin Was a Member in 90s
September 01, 2008 6:52 PM
The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., likes to herald the independence of its new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.
And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."
Lynette Clark, the chairman of the AIP, tells ABC News that Palin and her husband Todd were members in 1994, even attending the 1994 statewide convention in Wasilla. Clark was AIP secretary at the time.
"My own separate opinion as an individual is that we should be an independent nation," Clark says. Others in the AIP "believe that being a commonwealth would be a good avenue to follow." Some advocate statehood -- but a fuller statehood than exists now.
She doesn't know what Palin's position was.
"It never came up in conversation," Clark recalls. "But when she joined the party, our platform was right under her nose."
Clark says that Palin left the party and became a Republican in 1996, when she first ran for mayor of Wasilla.
The McCain-Palin campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The AIP platform states that the purpose of the party is to "seek the complete repatriation of the public lands, held by the federal government, to the state and people of Alaska in conformance with Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17, of the federal constitution ... To prohibit all bureaucratic regulations and judicial rulings purporting to have the effect of law, except that which shall be approved by the elected legislature ... To support the privatization of government services ...”
Hickel returned to the Republican Party in 1994; he endorsed Palin in her gubernatorial run in 2006. Subsequent AIP gubernatorial candidates did not fare as well as did Hickel, garnering less than 2 percent of the vote.
Earlier this year, Palin sent a video message to the AIP for its annual convention,

This is a comment I got from McCain's site. I feel for her. I can tell she is really scared.
I am a Hillary supporter and I am very happy to have found this site: ie. No name calling, no threats, no immature wanna be "new Democrats". After 16 years as a Democrat, I have switched over to a party that cares about all people, not just some. rOBERT, THE MEDIA HAS BEEN READING THIS BLOG SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE PRIMARY, AND ADMITTED IT!
Many times they have used actual comments from this blog and attributed them to BO, as if he's the one who made the comment. That's the reason many of us, while we feel it's our right to air our opinion, do try to keep the media in mind. Just today BO had to defend his supporters regarding the Palin girl. Over the weekend the gossip and ugly comments were rampant, with many of us asking ppl to leave it alone as thiw was not reflective of BO. And today, voila!
As to the HC supporter who went to JM's site, I assume she was on HC's site. I went there a total of 3 times as I couldn't stand the vitriol, name calling, racist remarks and even death threats/wishes! I never posted a comment.
If those anti-Obama posts on the old HC site didn't bother her, I doubt very seriously if any comment, if made, by any BO poster would have disturbed her so much! She should consider the types of comments that were made on that blog.
Agreat deal of restraint was shown on THIS site as we sort of monitored each other due to the media. As with any public forum, it's not possible to censor everyone! If your friend is that sensitive what is she doing on JM's site?
I'm too busy to coddle anyone or even think of this kind of mess as I'm about electing BO; I've moved on and maybe your friend should too.

It would be nice if people could come to the site to ask questions without getting called names or "yelled at". I left HRC mainly because I couldn't ask questions (nothing ever got posted even though I was registered). I came to Obama and pretty much found that I could post, but others couldn't do so as freely. I could never vote for someone who is so oppositional to so many things I value (i.e. McCain/Palin), but I can understand how someone might "jump ship" because they feel denigrated if they don't hold such strong ideals on "voting issues".
We don't have to always agree, but we should be respectful. I often don't see that here.

Daily Kos now has an article up on Palin's involvement in Alaska Independence Party INCLUDING VIDEOS of Palin.
In spite of the rethug efforts to delete Sarah Palin's history, particularly between 2004 and 2006, we found a real gem on you tube this evening.
The clips show the connection between Sarah Palin and the Alaska Independence Party. (We downloaded the clips and re-uploaded them into our own you tube account in case they get taken down.)

From Senator Obama's speech...
This country is more decent than one where a woman in Ohio, on the brink of retirement, finds herself one illness away from disaster after a lifetime of hard work.
We're a better country than one where a man in Indiana has to pack up the equipment that he's worked on for 20 years and watch as it's shipped off to China, and then chokes up as he explains how he felt like a failure when he went home to tell his family the news.
We are more compassionate than a government that lets veterans sleep on our streets and families slide into poverty...that sits on its hands while a major American city drowns before our eyes.
Tonight, tonight, I say to the people of America, to Democrats and Republicans and independents across this great land: Enough. This moment...This moment, this moment, this election is our chance to keep, in the 21st century, the American promise alive!!

I was IN the national guard in several states.
When the state declares emergencies: Fires, floods, blizzards that require securing an area and distributing needed materials the gov can activate the guards
when we are at war, the Federal government notifies the guard what is needed, expected and will be extracted from that base. The Feds have total control when activated overseas. Also, the two weeks of training done each year is on federal budget and control

"OLYMPIC SHARK JUMPING
We've already had a number of threshold moments in John McCain's on-going descent into ignominy. But surely this has to be another. John McCain just hired Tucker Eskew, the guy in charge of sliming him back in South Carolina in 2000. Apparently, he'll be in charge of prepping Sarah Palin for her role as McCain's running mate -- which, when you think about it, may be McCain's ultimate payback.
As Eric Kleefeld just quipped, what is he gonna do? Accuse Barack Obama of fathering two black children?"

In our little town of Glenwood Springs, Colorado (about the same size of Wasallia, and our mayor acknowledges it doenst qualify anyone to be VP) my kids and I are holding a yard sale on Saturday.
All the money raised will be donated to Save the Children -- a real organization-- on behalf of the Obama Campaign.
Furthermore, we are asking people to donate batteries, and unused toiletries which we will ship down to Louisiana next Monday (along with a lot of Obama support cards written by hand).
My kids will be selling "Lemon-Aid" to help raise money too.
We have also invited others in our area to donate items that they want to sell, as well as wear their Obama gear. After the sale, we are going to canvass precints 9 and 10 of Garfield County because we will be "Fired up and ready to go."
I encourage all of us to do some thing to get involved. To raise money for our fellow citizens. To cause change from the ground up.
I assure you that anyone on the lower ninth ward will never see a dime from the new "charity" created yesterday, and promoted by Cindy McCain.
As incentive, other Obama supporters who cant attend are donating money to the campaign-- matchinig what we raise this weekend.
Can you help? Can you sponsor an event like this? Can you donate to Save the Children, Red Cross, or to our fundraising page?
WE ARE THE CHANGE THAT WE (and the residents of the Gulf Coast) ARE WAITING FOR.
Lets talk the talk and walk the walk.

BREAKING.....
"Another woman claiming she was actually Miss Congeniality in the Miss Wasilla'84 contest...."
By Deb Peterson
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
08/30/2008
ALASKA PIPELINE: Amy Gwin, 43, of University City, grew up in Alaska and competed in the Miss Wasilla, Alaska, competition in 1984 against GOP vice presidential choice Sarah Palin. Gwin said Friday that she won the Miss Congeniality award in the competition, although Palin's Wikipedia entry says she won the contest — and the Miss Congeniality award. Gwin was a year behind Palin, now 44, at Wasilla High School, which had about 800 students. Gwin said Palin was "a high school star in a good way," a beauty who got good grades and excelled at athletics. Gwin, who was president of her class, does not recall Palin holding school office. The Wikipedia entry on Palin said she was head of the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes and captain of the basketball team. Gwin said she was not surprised when Palin became the governor of Alaska, but is astonished that she got the GOP nod for vice president. Asked whether she would support Palin because she knows her, Gwin said: "I wouldn't support her if she was my very best friend. I support Obama and don't share any of her (Palin's) politics. She's very shallow." Gwin is the director of agency relations for the Rodgers Townsend advertising firm. Her husband, Brad Nuccio, is executive VP of the St. Louis Science Center. The couple have two children, Mia, 9, and Max, 7.

How can someone compare Senator Obama to Gov. Palin from a small state with a budget of 12 million?
This comparison falls to the lowest of rationality.
You are compared orange and banana.
How can someone claim that a governor of a state of 630,000 people is well-equipped to formulate policies at the national level? What are Palin' s economic policy, foreign, health care, energy policy?
Senator Obama was a constitutional lawyer with 12 years of legislative experience and policymaking. She has run the most well-managed and organized campaign in modern history of 50 million per month. His management and organizational skills are superior to any modern politician. His national and international exposure as a US Senator have given him respect and admiration. His honesty and ethical behavior are exemplary. His leadership about emergency management has been praised. His proposals abut emergency and natural disasters are presently being implemented. His IQ is superior of those of the Palin and McCain, combined.
Palin has the same level of executive responsibilities as a city counsel of any US city.
By the way, you need to understand the US Federalist system was designed to power the legislative branch in policymaking. A state governor can only admister. She admister a budget of $12 million a year. If being a governor is good enough to be the President of the USA, then there are plenty of governors of big states who would be great candidates. In all states, the legislative branch formulates policies.
About social and moral values, Sarah Palin does not have the authority to lecture any mother. She needs to manage her own household.

Dick Morris was on Fox today saying that Palin should DEBATE Obama and then we'd see how she measures up against all of his "inexperience", or something to that effect! Morris, who is usually right about Hillary and Bill and wrong on everything else, actually was trying to push the idea that Palin would WIN a debate on any topic with Barack Obama!
That's the biggest laugh I've had in six months!!!

they are comparinga srah to barack because they are closer in age. besides if they have to compare her to biden then questions of her foreign policy experience will start surfacing and that scares teh republicans. you see the republican party is a party of what makes them look or sound good not what is actually good for this country. they can still compare sarah to barack and she still will not measure up. fact is barack has proven himself time and again on the national scene and the fact is she has not. another fact is that the republican party is trying to pump up her credentials so she fits but america is awake this time and that is something they just don't get yet. we will not be bamboozled by panderers.

Palin And The FBI Background Check --
Updated
01 Sep 2008 01:52 pm
The Federal Bureau of Investigation did not participate in the vetting of Gov. Sarah Palin and did not conduct a background check as part of the process, an FBI spokesman said today.
The Washington Post reported Sunday, citing an interview with campaign manager Rick Davis, that the vetting process "included reviews of financial and other personal data, an FBI background check and considerable discussion among the handful of McCain advisers nvolved in the deliberations.
"In general, we do not do vetting for political campaigns except as it might regard investigations needed for security clearances," said John Miller, the chief FBI spokesperson.
The FBI did not participate in a vet, nor did it run a background check of Gov. Palin as part of the process.
Palin might already have a clearance that relates to her duties as governor. But the FBI can't speak to that, and in any event, those investigations wouldn't be accessible to the McCain campaign anyway.

The Palin chronicles
I can't remember the last introduction to the national scene this rocky, and it gets worse every hour — and even before the investigative reporters have settled in to Anchorage.
Just got off the flight to St. Paul to find, in my inbox: a second source confirming her past membership in a secession-minded fringe group, her lawyering up in an inquiry the AP slugged "Troopergate," and — insult to injury — another woman claiming she was actually Miss Congeniality in the Miss Wasilla '84 contest.
The name on the tongues of gleeful Dems, meanwhile: Eagleton.

Folks,
We were offered up the new RNC talking points tonight, direct from Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minnesota 6th). James Carville made a perfectly genderless, articulate argument that Governor Palin is quite simply not qualified. Bachmann responded that "your comments were offensive to me and offensive to women."
In now way did Carville even begin to mention her gender as a factor. But Bachmann very disgustingly spun his argument into the gutter.
We need to stand up to this! I wrote her an email and posted my response as a comment on the Larry King live site. Go to my blog and see what I wrote - her email is there. she's also on Facebook and myspace -- go comment! We have to get these people to stand down! They are polluting and corrupting the arguments in the most important political and philosophical debate our country has engaged in in quite some time.

Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan mock as ridiculous the possibility of Sarah Palin being named McCain's running mate.
What's more, they go on to dismiss the idea that her qualifications are anywhere near Obama's as Obama has been on the national stage a long time and running and excellent campaign who "validated himself with 18 million votes." And beating everyone, including knocking out Hillary.
They also blast the idea of Palin as a Hillary substitute as silly and state it would be seen as "condescending" to women.
This is perfect antithesis to the GOP talking points that have obviously made the rounds in the last few days. The talking heads, including Buchanan sure changed their tunes quickly.

Folks the Republicans are trying a rope-a-dope on us. They are making us go after Palin's qualification to make a mockery of Obama. Why do you think all the McCain surrogates are comparing Palin to Obama vs. Palin to Biden?
This way, once they throw her under the bus, they can claim that everyone was right, that it would be dangerous to have an inexperience candidate so near the "button", giving subtle hints tying back to Obama.
What we are seeing unraveling before us is too farfetched to be believe. I would not be surprised if the Republicans are trying to frame Obama this way.
Of course they take the risk of jepardizing their candidate's "judgment".

Then why is she not heading the ticket since she has more exec experience than McCain. I guess from now on this standard will apply :-
Small town mayor - - fit to be president.
Congressman and senator - - unfit to be president.
Why can't we get journalist to properly pose reasonable and sound argument to these idiot Republican making idiot arguments.

The Networks need to be accountable and not glosss over things that are pertiment to the American people. This is how we go into the Iraqi war. Her colleagues should not be quiet or intimidated like when they failed to question the Iraqi war. get some nuts CNN and ask the real questions. also, when the response is Palin has more experience than BO , CNN should stop accepting this as an answer. This is Mccain campigns talking point that goes like "palin has more executive experince than BO". The question should be is Palin ready to be commander and chief if something happens to JM. Considering his age and health issues this should be a very serious consideration .BO was vetted by more than 18million people and was nominated by the people over more seasoned and experinced politicians because he has shown judgment and grasp of all issues foreign and domestic.. But fortunately for palin Vp is not elected but selected by 1 person.

I swear these media people on TV are so dumb.
It isnt such a big deal that the Gov's daughter got knocked up. No Big deal, it happens all the time.
The big deal that should be stressed is that Palin, knew she was pregnant, and still choose to take the VP slot. All it did was open up the door to her poor daughter being totally embarrased, and made a spectacle of.
She should have turned it down for her daugheter's sake. That is where she showed the poor judgement.
and How about Anderson Cooper tryig to defend Palin about troopegate without even kowing the facts!
I mean he was sitting there saying all these allegations are coming out, and who knows if they are true. And saying it isnt such a big thing right..
I mean the facs are right there to read, I read them myself. She is guilty, an there is tape and e-mails from her office and people. She i guilty of at least poor judgement!
How about doing some investgating more then the teleprompter!
She has so many things to go after, the press wont know where to begin. it could be one more thing every day for a week.
i still havent heard the MSM on TV mention this Fringe AIP party which wants so secede from the contry and she was a member! Alaska first is the slogan.
Wait untitl that breaks, and then she lead the 527 for Ted Stevens...So much and none out there yet! They never vetted her at all! I love it!

Dan, good to see you're still on here...:-)
I agree with you totally about Palin should have turned down the VP slot. But even more, she could've just said, "Of course, Trig was born to me not my daughter, and here are my medical records."
And when the media was probing into her daughter's pregnancy, she should've said, "It's none of your damn business!" She didn't have to reveal that her daughter was pregnant! Her daughter could've gone on and gotten married and had her baby later, and if they had to lie, they could've said the baby was born prematurely.
But no! Palin's "family values" don't seem to include the actual protection of her daughter from the shaming of the entire freakin' world! Instead, Palin chooses to save her own face and expose her daughter to all the evangelicals, and everyone in the world, as an unwed mother!
Unbelievable!

I encourage all of us to do some thing to get involved. To raise money for our fellow citizens. To cause change from the ground up.
I assure you that anyone on the lower ninth ward will never see a dime from the new "charity" created yesterday.
As incentive, other Obama supporters are donating money to the campaign-- matchinig what we raise this weekend.
Can you help? Can you sponsor an event like this? Can you donate to Save the Children, Red Cross, or to our fundraising page?
Pay it forward. We are Americans. When we fall down, we stand back up again, right???

I still can't believe this major blunder by McCain and the republicans. How could they disrespect Americans by choosing Palin? All of the republican spokespersons are being stumped. Larry King asked a congresswoman (not sure of her name) if Palin was the best person qualified to be the republican VP candidate and she repeatedly avoided the question.
I think Palin is about to withdraw her name, probably for the wellbeing of her daughter she will say. I was hoping the democrats would wait until she was nominated and accepted before they let her and McCain have it. Not looking like she will last that long.

You know it might be a good thing to acknowledge Campbell Brown's un-bias interview today. I know she has given our canidate a hard time but I thought that maybe some of us could e-mail her and share that we appreciate her fairness today. Just a thought.

We have already seen the damage that results when dishonest, inexperienced, fact-denying right wing nuts like McBush and Palin are elected to the White House. Now, we need to come together to elect someone who can reverse the damage and get America back on track.
PLEASE: donate for our kids.. they have the most to lose in this election.

If this is the kind of experience that John McCain values, then I don't trust him to be our commander in chief. Like George Bush before him, he values loyalty and ideology over sound judgment and pragmatic leadership.
John McCain showed us all why he's not qualified to lead. This was a horrible decision by any objective standard. And I don't use those terms lightly.
Horrible decision.

So just how much as she had to do in the 18 months she's been a Governor????
The Alaska Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is a bicameral institution, consisting of the lower Alaska House of Representatives, with 40 members, and the upper house Alaska Senate, with 20 members. With a total of 60 lawmakers, the Alaska Legislature is the smallest bicameral state legislature in the United States.
Annual sessions begin in January and are limited by statute to 90 calendar days.

Palin disclosures raise questions about vetting.
Alaskans say no one from McCain camp asked them about eventual VP pick.
Snippet ,
A rushed pick?
Up until midweek last week, some 48 to 72 hours before Mr. McCain introduced Ms. Palin at a Friday rally in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. McCain was still holding out the hope that he could name as his running mate a good friend, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, independent of Connecticut, a Republican close to the campaign said. Mr. McCain had also been interested in another favorite, former Gov. Tom Ridge of Pennsylvania.
But both men favor abortion rights, anathema to the Christian conservatives who make up a crucial base of the Republican Party. As word leaked out that Mr. McCain was seriously considering the men, the campaign was bombarded by outrage from influential conservatives who predicted an explosive floor fight at the convention and vowed rejection of Mr. Ridge or Mr. Lieberman by the delegates.
