Who is the woman interviewed last night by Ann Curry who kept saying: "Hillary is doing exactly as she was asked to do." Seemed like a power hungry person within the Obama campaign - and it turned my stomach. I don't understand what she meant and why she kept repeating herself. I felt like she was implying something about having an upper hand over Hillary and almost "gloating".
I hate to see people I personally get bad vibes from as an intricate part and person close to the next President of the U.S. Ick factor!

If McCain was not honored for his patriotism and suffering as a POW he would garner sympathy votes and there would be an outlash against anyone or the party that belittled him. That is why they are careful when criticizing him every single time. They try to keep the attacks on issues also. Obama wants to raise the political campaign above the usual lies and attack syndrome. They need to walk a thin line.

he pundits, the pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an "awesome God" in the Blue States, and we don’t like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we’ve got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America.

I know I have wished I was in Denver at the Dem Convention also. Every day it has been really good. I hate it when I hear the pundits be critical. I loved it all. I watched the whole thing on C-Span then turned it to MSNBC afterwards. Now I watched it over on MSNBC and noticed when Barack's Uncle was introduced the camera on NBC never showed him and stayed on Kerry. I thought the C-Span camera person did better than not showing the Uncle. That is because it was more effective to see the Uncle. It is kind of like the station countered the effectiveness of that introduction. You know each of the individual speakers they did not show on this station did everything they said wasn't done this night. I think they speak crap. I loved it!

Todays speeches where great. Bill Clinton by far said it all and very inspiring to vote for Obama. Joe Biden, the same. For once, we really hope they stand by what they say. We hope, we pray, that we do not go to another war. We hope and pray that we can get our love ones out of the current war. We hope and pray that what these men say, they will do. We am tired of having a President that is in it for selfish reasons. Our own house is on your side, because it seems that you guys are on ours... as a whole. As not just our own country but as a single world united. Thanks for the love and care you have for our country. We pray that you win!!!

just caught the bulk (i think) of VPJoe's speech, after racing around most of the day. you are reading the post of the newest member of the county democratic central committee, i was voted in unanimously lol. ok, sure, i had no competition and a lot of the precincts have only one of the two that are supposed to be representing them....but hey, it's still a victory!!!
(ok, more than a bit peeved that we had a promise from our clinton delegates that they'd vote for barack at national in exchange for leadership positions, etc, that we did NOT have to give them; i am going to find out just who they were and share a bit of my hard won opinion about that. after spending about 50 hours knowing i was NOT going to be a national delegate and still going through ALL of our state gyrations the whole time, i'm letting them hear it!)

my thoughts:
1. his personal story is very touching and will go over well when he stumps (i.e. tell it to SE ohio!)
2. he really had a lot of feeling when he spoke about his story and barack's
3. his doesn't hesitate to rip mccain every which way
4. he is really smart and caring
He is a very very very very solid choice for veep

i REALLY got the feeling from joe that he IS the kinda guy that blue collar workers will really identify with. his manner, his attitude, it all screams "regular guy" and tough worker. i think barack made a brilliant choice. i am PRAYING that mccain picks romney. that douchebag will be DESTROYED by joe and independents will flock our way, i know it.
i'm a first time voter and these are my first conventions, so from my POV, it all has gone really well. i LOVED michelle, hillary, and bill's speeches, and joe's tonight. but i hear people say that there hasn't been enough hits on the republicans. i thought there were some very good attacks tonight.
i mean, you could spend hours detailing all of bush's failures, and i think maybe someone ticking off a laundry list of the biggest scandlas in disdain would probably be pretty effective. someone could have done that, i think.
but i think these speeches have been great, and am SO excited for barack tomorrow. i think he's going to knock it out of the park.

It seemed like all the speakers not shown on tv except for C-Span put in their digs about McCain. Anyhow, once you say it then it is like boring to repeat the same thing over and over. I do think they repeated their McCain same as Bush message enough for people to get it. Bill Clinton put in hits on McCain, Kerry did a lot on McCain, and Joe had some too so what the hey? More media trying to find criticisms and run the show. I prefer C-Span so I can do my own analysis.

I agree completely.
Biden may not have had the smoothest speech (that would be Pres. Clinton) or the hardest hitting speech (maybe Kerry) or the funniest speech (definitely Schweitzer) or the most tender (Michelle) or even the most sweeping/grandiose (Hillary) but what he has is reality.
Just plain reality. He connects. Yes he stumbles on words occaisionally and you kind of want to call out softly the correction...but you know what he means. You can feel it. And he makes sense and you BELIEVE IT!
He wasn't actually my first choice - but I am coming around quickly. He touches something REAL!
Obama - well he is just a STAR. Just his walk and smile are a STAR.

I'm with you. It's a Kleenex evening. Real Men cry when feeling deep joy and salvation for their nation.
I'm thinking lots about the Founders. Flawed folks, as are we all, but deep and remarkable and prescient. Their belief in democracy, in the power of ordinary folks to order their affairs, has been proven true time and time again.
The conditions of democracy, of universal suffrage and education, of a nation whose people hail from every corner of this planet, led to that remarkable moment today when a great man, whose father was from Africa, whose mother was from Kansas, was nominated for the presidency. My eyes filled with tears of joy. I was 7 years old when Pres. Eisenhower had to send troops to Little Rock to accompany black children to school. Now, 50 years later, we have come to this magical point in our history.
I am truly deeply fahklempt. Talk amongst yourselves.

i guess i'm a little worried that they are STILL treating mccain with kid-gloves.
will ANY republican preface an obama attack next week with "he is an honorable man?" DOUBTFUL. my guess is no one will say anything good about him except mccain himself, with 1 sentence.
although maybe relentless attacks on him with no acknowledgment of his historic candidacy could potentially backfire and finally brand them as the nasty, racist, dishonorable people that most of them are. in the eyes of independents.

Here is the letter I wrote to Joe to welcome him:
I believe that Barack Obama is destined to be president and will be an integral part of healing the policies that have weakened our economy, cost too many American lives, and fractured our whole country into a vulnerable, broken constituency.
It is extremely crucial that Barack Obama lead the Democrats to victory in November. Now I had heard that Joe Biden was a hard-working representative along the lines of Ted Kennedy. So if Barack and his team want Joe Biden, and if he trusts him, then that is enough for me.
I have supported Barack right from the start. His integrity, and his truthful, measured, thoughtful approach gives me such hope and courage to speak out to support him. I trust him, his decisions and his judgement.
So I am going to try to extract from you a solemn pledge. Repeat after me: I, Joe Biden, promise to do everything in my power to secure the presidency for Barack Obama, the hopemonger, truth-seeker, brilliant thinker, hard-worker, honorable servant of the people, so help me God.
Promise it to the American people and promise it to me,Joe, because it is such a significant election, such a time of turmoil and trepidation in our land today, that nothing but extreme loyalty and steadfastness will do.
I almost feel that the task at hand to help all of the people like us is so overwhelming and will be so demanding, that it will need a brilliance, youth, vitality, and concentration that only, ONLY Barack can provide. For God's sake, we need someone who is vital and youthful and empathetic. I won't start about John McCain except for the fact that he does not possess the faculties or the patience, or inclusive approach or the empathy or even the mental sharpness and acuity that is needed now. We are on the cusp of losing it all - of losing the strength that has underlined our whole history - the history of our whole country - and only the best and the brightest will do. That is Barack. And that is now you, Joe.
In closing, we are depending on you. We take it on with you, Joe. We are your supporters and your stalwart admirers who will help lift you up like we have lifted Barack. God bless you and God bless America.

I remember reading somewhere early in the Primary that Kerry was one of the people advising Barack from the start and even shared his own supporter list with him. I know he told Barack that he had made a mistake by not answering the attacks quick enough and thinking people wouldn't believe them. So Kerry is a big time supporter of Barack.

you know, i think maybe the john kerry speech was the one that needed to be shown on prime-time that they didn't show. it was the needed attacks on mcbush, more so than biden's was.
i liked biden's, but i was watching keith talk to claire mccaskill about whether the dems need to be more vicious, and she said they're following their leader, who wants to remain inspiring and lift people up, even despite the fact that mccain has turned to disgusting personal attacks and NOTHING ELSE.
i love barack, and respect and admire him for that. but i i DO think we need a little more vicious ruthlessness, esp. from biden, in the coming weeks. it's just how people win, sadly.

Yes, I do think more attacks are needed. You don't have to be HATEFUL you just have to be extremely FIRM and let McCains record speak for itself.
I am also extremely dissappointed with the "John McCain is a friend of mine...I respect his service"" you can bet your buns you will not hear any of that in the other convention. Word has it that they are going to be ruthless on Barack..I do not agree with that tatic but they are so nice to McCain it makes me sick as McCain does not deserve the honor and respect because he has embraced policies he knew were terrible for the American people. He has turned his back on the working folks of this country.
I also think they did not use the beautiful screens to showcase over and over at every opportunity Barack's Bio. Lost opportunity. They should have been running film on his family, his mother and grandmother...etc.
Overall, I think when it came to a speech that fulfilled everything it should have ... Michelle is the one who truly delivered a complete speech. The others were dimished by the " obsession with their friendship of McCain."
It could have been worst. The highligh was the roll call and the suspense of Hillary declaring Barack the nominee.
So far convention .. on a scale of 1-10 is a 5.
Tomorrow Barack will elevate it to a 10 !!!!!!!!!!!
FyI...John McCain plans to leak out his VP tomorrow. He is pathetic !!!!!!!!!!! and I personally find him disgusting !!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. The dems need to be ruthless in their attacks on McCain. No more 'McCain is a hero who served our country....' What's the point in pulling punches when the other side will show no such consideration? We will not hear one positive thing about Barack during the repug convention. They may give him underhanded compliments like 'rock star' or 'great speaker'.
When the dems add those positive things before criticizing McCain, they dilute their message. No need to tell lies. McCain gives plenty of 'facts' to criticize him for.
The dems need to use-
Keating five
Failing grades
Adultery
Terrible temper (he is dangerous!)
Warmonger
Did not vote for the GI bill
I would even question his ability to think properly, considering that he has shown signs of forgetfulness, and has not released all his medical records.
There are plenty of others. The dems need to get back to work as soon as the convention is over, and bombard the voters with anti-McCain ads. Forget about the 'hero' stuff.
We must create doubts in the voters' minds about McCain's ability to perform effectively as POTUS.
As Claire McCaskill said tonight, a lot of work remains to be done.

I am 100% behind the Mile High Speech.
They idea is to open this convention and the access of him to every single American that could possibly attend.
It is an open approach to Government and that is what he said at the closing of the events today when he appeared on stage.
This is about the people. Not just party leaders.
Great move. Obviously McCain is so nervous he is willing to release the name of his VP...

ANN PRICE MILLS, the Hilary Clinton supporter crying and shaking on CNN and being interview by CNN Malveaux on Tuesday night ,Well this woman is involved with the republican created anti-Obama PUMA Group . DID CNN tell their viewers this information because i didn't know that small information until today researching PUMA.
People, This woman came to the Dem Convention to get the PUMA message across and CNN gave this Scam group it's 15 minutes during the convention. PUMA is now using Ann in their blogs and Youtube attack ad to recruit members. ANN PRICE MILLS is not some innocent lone Hilary supporter in the audience. This woman was a planning on CNN,MSNC or FOX News to find her.

OK, Danny, let's go:
I assume you're talking about Obama.
1. Liar? About what? "Refiner," yes. Changing your mind on better information is what you have a mind for.
2. Racist? When? How?
3. Friend of terrorist? Talking about Ayers? He and his wife are 38 years removed from the Weather Underground days.
4. Friend on jailed con man? Rezko? True, but just because you're a friend of a con (is he really in jail yet?) doesn't mean you're a con. Even Jesus Christ associated with publicans, sinners, an adulteress and a fornicator.
How does all this apply to Bill Clinton, who I thought gave a detailed speech on why Barack Obama is the man for the White House this year and unequivocally endorsed him.
Yes, he said the opposite in the primaries and with the "X candidate vs. the Y" candidate comparison within the previous 24 hours. The primaries I can understand; his primary opponents didn't say nice things about McCain either, but now support him. Why Bill made the rather obvious "X candidate vs. Y candidate" analogy at this point, I do not understand. But hey, if he can help Barack get elected from this point in, all power to him.
The spotlight is going to be on McCain next week, and if not, then during the ensuing days, through the three debates and on to Nov. 4. So we'll see who praises whom now, but didn't previously. We Obama supporters have to start turning the spotlight on McCain too. It's our duty to take him out of the shadows and expose him to the American people. This election is not all about Obama; half of it is about McCain.

President Clinton
rocked
. Of all the speakers, Monday through tonight, I give Clinton an A, for
Awesome.
Clinton left no doubt in my mind – he not only plans to support Senator Barack Obama, but he also believes that the Senator is ready to lead this nation. Clinton said,
“Barack Obama is ready to lead America… and restore American leadership in the world. He is ready to be the President of the United States.”
Clinton left no room for doubt.
Furthermore, he left nothing on the table when he said,
“I want all of you to vote for Barack Obama in November.”
I think that President Clinton sincerely respects Senator Obama’s intelligence, as well as Obama’s strategic approach to this campaign - with understanding, comes genuine respect.
I am impressed with the flow of this Democratic Convention; planned and very deliberate.
One Nation
, the theme of the first day, reached a crescendo, tonight, with President Clinton’s call to unity.
Clinton
rocked
the house. While I fully support Senator Obama; I must acknowledge that it will not be an easy task to follow President Clinton’s speech. Nevertheless, I have complete confidence in Senator Obama’s ability to make a
slam dunk
.
President Clinton,
you hit the ball out of the park.
Thanks Clinton(s) |

Bill is a true rock star. Actually he has some things in common with Barack. Both are great speakers, both have charm. Bill said when he was running in 92, people said, "he is too young, too inexperienced..... sounds familiar?" That was a great endorsement for Barack.
It must have been very difficult for Bill and Hillary to do what they did at this convention. They did what they had to do for the party. I am sure they earned a lot of points in the last two days.
As Claire McCaskill said tonight, a lot of work remains to be done.

I have been disappointed by the convention so far. This is the first time I have supported a candidate so much and made donations. However, the tepid nature of the speeches and the refusal to go for the jugular is reflected in the polls. I am not sure why the campaign that was so powerful in the primaries is now losing momentum and backing away from addresing issues like lying us into the war, guantanoma, and katrina.

Dear friends,
Every day I follow the race, and I would love to do so much more. But since I am German, living in Germany, I can't give much of a support although I would love to. So I gave notice to all of my friends in the US, connected them to Obama's webpage, made suggestions on certain topics , like i.e. healthcare (I am a medical journalist). Friends in the US made donations for me.
From all of that you may guess how essential this election is not only for you as Anmericans, but for the whole world, for our children as well as yours, for our peace as well as yours.
It doesn't help much, I know, but PLEASE, those of you who wanted to see Hillary Clinton in the Oval office, don't let this election down that is so much key to the world's future.
Don't give up on the bigger picture, your hopes and values. Hillary Clinton is a fabulous woman, and as much Obama is a fabulous man. You can be so proud of what you achieved after 8 years of Bush. The world looks at you with so much more positive regard than it did during the past years, with such great hope, not only for us, but also for you in terms of public health care, education, environmental politics and for your soldiers to come home. My son joined them many times as an embedded war reporter, and his respect for what they do and what they suffer, is tremendous. Can you imagine what it would mean, if you take that energy of them, their willingness to sacrifice for their country, and let that show up in peace policy rather than in war? They deserve to live, and my son saw many of them die, held their hands, carried them to the Bagdad hospital with no legs, no arms, with bullets in their heads. He spoke with their mothers on the phone, since his hand was the last they held, and it brought him to tears and to his knees to feel the suffer of the families.
Please, don't let them down.
With the very best wishes to all of you
Katrin
