Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the June 14th *morning* news content.

For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.

Yes it surprised me that the MSM let former Senator Graham off the hook so fast and turned their laser beams on Mr. Johnson, whose own problems seemed incredibly small when compared with Senator Graham's.

It's time to take our country back! I agree with Obama's notion that wealth sould be distributed more evenly. Everything goes to the top 1% of people. The rest of us are getting worse economically by the day.
Who are these republicans? Are they all at the top 1% of the food chain? Why do people vote republican? Are they happy to get the crumbs that the rich through away?
We deserve to get a fair share of the productivity and wealth distribution.
Hopefully, most people will understand that it's in their best interest to vote for Obama and get a more fair share of the pie!

We suffer from depression at the incompetence of the last 7+ years;

Anger at the outright corruption in the last 7+ years;

Disbelief at the overt attempts to throw our Constitution out the window;

and Embarrassment at watching our President speak, combined with (at least on my part) a desperate sense of PLEASE! hoping that maybe this time our President will speak clearly and not further humiliate us all.

I am certain there are more symptoms, but this is my own list so far. And then there was Senator Obama and he inspired the heck out of me and helped me to believe that even after the last 7+ years, we Americans could do absolutely ANYTHING even repair the damage of the last 7+ years, so long as we rolled up our sleeves and put some elbow grease into the job.

"I am a 56-year-old woman living in rural Vermont with a masters in psychology who has been in deep despair about the future of our country and our planet for many years. I have learned in school and out that when people have been oppressed, traumatized, lied to, and had their power to make change stripped from them, they undergo PTSD and give up in despair. I have also learned that the way to health again is through hope, believing that the future will be better than the past, and that we have power over the future. Barack Obama fills me with the sense that no matter the amount of trouble, no matter the depth of despair in our country, we can and will make it better. The age factor with McCain should be a major concern for our country. However, something of more concern to me is his 5 years of torture in a prison camp. There has to be some underlying psychological trauma that no one wants to address.

WTG Steve! I know that I Have about as much of a chance of ever being 1st (or even 1st responder to 1st... LOL) as McCain has of being POTUS... No way.. it's just not gonna happen!

I am what my dear granddaughter calls " typing impaired".. Heck she's only 7 years old and has to wait for me on IM's. My 5 year old Twin grandsons will be beating me out as soon as they learn to spell in another year or so.

So, given all of that... I'll just post my link to my FR page anyway ... hoping that someone will click on it to see my 3 beautiful grandkids and perhaps consider donating to my FR.

The photographs of Cedar Rapids show such devastation I find it almost hard to believe. All of the people there, and everywhere else hardhit by the weather are in my thoughts and prayers. Maybe its just me. At least I hope it is. I've noticed a bit of a dip in the - for want of better
words 'intensity' and 'focus' of the campaign. Now before you would be chefs start
hurling “barbecue troll apple pie” recipes at me hear me out.

What the campaign [IMHO] now lacks [please correct me if I'm wrong] is a series of COMMON
objectives [state, monthly, possibly biweekly, and personal] which can collectively
harness/channel our competitive spirit and desire for victory .

I say "now" only because after the primary, we no longer have those 'Tuesday state objectives'
which enabled us to focus our efforts on achieving a measurable goal ie winning the
particular primary. The fierce urgency of the Tuesday deadline has become replaced by
the beginnings of a casual swagger towards the “distant” November finish line.

My concern is that if we don't set visible realistic state monthly biweekly, personal goals, and
hold each other to them then, we risk being lulled into complacency by "positive polls" -
and quicker than you can say ‘hare and tortoise’ – it’ll be four more years of Mcsame.

I'm trying to adopt the maxim of " Criticize but offer a possible solution" so here goes.

Proposed solution.
The two areas that will help us win are funds and votes.
We have an antismear website - well and good but how about an a achievement/ objectives
Website. On this website states [or rather campaign chapters ]can go up against each
Other on specific objectives ie 1st to register 100 000 new voters in 2 weeks or first to raise
$ 1 000 000 in a week etc. Similarly individuals could challenge each other to raise particular
amounts, register new voters. Prizes could range from the simple glory of being first to
a certificate of some sort – but nothing more than that.

Also as a side note this campaign can serve [if again properly organised etc] as a fantastic
Source of raw “grassroots” data. On a separate part of the page campaign Volunteers can post
real stories of real Americans [pictures please] about what their challenges are, what their
hopes and fears are etc. To mark this historical movement a book of 100 of the most moving
stories can be commissioned And made available ? just before November.
All proceeds of the book going to the campaign

We do have a focus right now -- registering and motivating as many Americans as we possibly can.

Since it has depressed me for years that so few Americans are registered and so few vote, I greatly approve of this particular focus.

We can hardly be a government of the People, by the People and for the People when so many of us People don't vote and are not even registered. This is what our forefathers and foremothers fought, bleed and died for this right to vote and determine the direction our Country takes. I was raised to believe this right to vote was a sacred duty. It sounds corny, but I think it is true -- we cannot hardly keep our Republic if we don't even bother to vote!

I understand your thoughts.

The intensity level could be low, because there are no primaries coming up. So we do need to self-motivate. Maybe each person can set their weekly goal (# of calls, # of registered etc) and report etc..

There are also more students available (high energy level and creativity) now then in August. So the time to increase the intensity is now.

I would also like to direct folks to an article by John Dickerson at slate.com. Sorry no link. It is all about the B.S. of the media hype about supposed Hillary voters who will be voting McCain. Does the Obama campaign seem worried about this? I suggest that everyone take its cues from the campaign and not sweat these types of stories. It looks like Obama will have Hagel and Powell so what if McCain has this woman and Lieberman. It's not an even trade.

McCain is pretty much screwed.

The super conservatives thing he is moderate or liberal, the liberals think he is the same as Bush, he doesn't know what to do.

I respect when McCain took on the GOP on a lot of issues but now he has sold out.

I think they have a right to be suspicious....if he is taking on positions further right to appeal to conservatives and be popular enough to win the election, whose to say he won't go back to being a moderate to be popular and effective as a President?

The bad news for us is in 2004 94% of Registered Republicans voted for Bush so even the people that don't like McCain if they show up to vote will probably vote for him anyways.

McCain should be campaigning about REINVENTING the Republican Party (sort of like Obama is re-inventing politics) instead of promising people the same ol' Bush policies because it is easier than coming up with a solution.

I think McCain has horrible management skills and as a result needs a Governor as his VP. He might have to pick Romney as I at least thing Romney has the ability to manage the white house better than anyone (not saying I endorse his policies, but guy is competent no doubt).

Please remember several posts I've made in regards to these "defections". We must watch for a continuing drip, drip of democratic delegates who publicly refuse to endorse BO and/or back JM!

Notice these have all been relative unknowns outsied of their state! Bartoshevich who?? (Boren and Lincoln ?) Either HC or JM doing a little poaching? Read BArt.'s "reasons" why she can't vote for BO. Are they not the exact words that have been used by HC? And as an elected official (?) B. surely knows the nominating process and one would hope, how to count! Therefore, she KNOWS this nom. was not stolen from HC.

If "meddling" is going on, and I highly suspect it is, I don't know how it benefits HC becoming POTUS. Do any of her supporters honestly think this party would overturn the LEGAL nominee? Even if they did, does anyone think that all the ppl who have voted for BO would then vote HC? I say a resounding NO!

She's being removed as a delegate, so she can support whoever the heck she desires now. Hope she reads up on McCains' policies before foolishly wasting her vote in November.

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Democratic Party moved Friday to strip a woman of her position as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention after she told a newspaper she would vote for Republican Sen. John McCain for president in November.

Bartoshevich, of Waterford, supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign and was elected a Clinton delegate from the 1st Congressional District. She was certified as a national delegate by the party last month.

But Bartoshevich told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, as reported on its Web site Friday, that Clinton was treated unfairly by the party and she has deep reservations about Obama's experience, so she'll vote for McCain.

Those comments prompted Democrats to support a complaint asking the national party's credentials committee to refuse to seat her at the convention. The resolution said Bartoshevich violated a Democratic National Committee rule requiring delegates to support the party's nominee and not any other candidate.

If the move is approved, Democratic aides said she would be replaced by an alternate that had already been elected.

I don't know if this is how this particular woman got to be a delegate, but I remind everyone that Rush Limbaugh actively urged his self-labelled "ditto-heads" to get themselves elected as delegates in Texas, Ohio and elsewhere.

I also have a very difficult time with this story, because this woman is a nurse. How can a nurse support Senator McCain who has a worse healthcare plan than what we have now? He will, for example, take steps at gutting the employer provided healthcare system (which is how most people receive decent healthcare) and replace it with a tax credit -- and this will help how? Since the way most people get decent healthcare is through the bargaining power of their employers, and certainly no-one gets it by bargaining as an individual, this seems the worst possible fix (I think it will actually make things worse).

I just don't get how a nurse could let spite get in the way of the health needs of people -- I just cannot get my mind around that one. Anyone who cares about healthcare (and isn't blinded by spite, hate, or anger) will be voting for Senator Obama this Fall -- I have no doubts about that.

The Army claims these soldiers have pre-existing mental illnesses or are guilty of misconduct. When you lose a guy like Tim Russert, your CORE values come out. It always makes me hate republicans a little bit less. And move a little more centralist.

I am more now than ever convinced that an Obama/Webb would be the greatest pair in the white house in the history of this country (or at least have the potential). We would have everything we need in those 2 people!

We would have a strong military president, who will go after the terrorists at whatever costs! And a VP that would know who to appoint to run the war and it would be hard to beat that team in war!

But having said that they are SMART. The know that war is a LAST resort and not to be entered into lightly.

The both are bi-partisan and will truely gain the independents in strong numbers. Regan democrats, hardcore liberals, and independents will all have a ticket we can truely consider a blessed union of 2 great men at this great time.

They both came to us within the last few years, rays of sunshine on this bleak country bush has created.

At heart, Russert was a democrat. I truely think he would want a Obama/Webb ticket.

Having said that im not TELLING obama who to pick. Im offering one virginian guys point of view. Thats all it is. But in my mind it is much larger than an idea. It could be the future.

As an African American and as a woman, I could not disagree with you more. Jim Webb is the worst choice that could be made and would certainly surpress voter enthusiasm among two core democratic constituencies - AA's and Women.

He was a staunch republican and only became a democrat because of the strong disagreement on the Iraq war and a heated exchange he had with Bush concerning his son who was in Iraq. He was furious and switched his party and ran for office. But there is not one other core democratic principle that he has ever espoused even a mild passion for.

Webb has only been a democrat for a hot second and he simply needs more time to truly demonstrate that he has distanced himself from his dispicable positions. He has espoused terrible positions on women, affirmative action(calling it state sponsored racism), and has a tremendous affinity for the very cause of the confederacy(well documented in his book). As recently as a week and a half ago I heard him being interviewed on one of the cable news networks about the appalachians and he took a swipe at affirmative actions suggesting that these are the people displaced by it. That is nonsense!

Although I believe that democrats will ultimately support the ticket, why stick it to the party's two strongest core constituentcies like that when there is a broad field of potential choices with far less contemptable positions. Instead of waiting until we have "no choice" but to vote for a ticket with Webb on it, I say make a choice NOW that we can ALL be proud of from the onset.

People clammoring for Jim Webb have not vetted him at all. He is not a good choice.

Thank you so much. Well, I've been notified a number of times and they say you can leave the video up but your page will now be subject to advertising beyond your control, thus I have an anti-Obama ad on one of my videos too, paid for by John McCain 2008. I've only had one video actually removed by YouTube and that was "Change is Going to Come" by San Cooke. I think someone just put in repeated claims on that one to get it removed. My opinion on that one was that it was definitely racially motivated. I had had to remove numerous racist comments that posted in the comments section on that one.

All (or at least 98%) of the music I use comes from my personal music library which I have bought and paid for over the years. The images and the video clips come from the internet, so that's pretty much public domain for the most part. I figure since I'm not trying to make any money off of the artist's work but rather just giving them free advertising, it should be a win win for everybody.

I don't know if this clears anything up for you or if I just made more "Muddy Waters." hehe

You've got to give me the recipe for those cyber-cookies. Mmm mmm good!

In fact I just went and checked, and sure enough, it is the Peace Train video that has the anti-Obama ad on it. I think it is actually pretty funny that the McCain campaign would put an ad like that on MY channel of all channels. Can't they see how pro-Obama it is? Here's what I wrote...

Please know that I'm not a paid blogger or a troll. I'm simply a 60 yr old, female, Caucasian, retired public school teacher.

And "yenta" (Yiddish: "busybody").

A few months ago I emailed Howard Dean... read his assistant the riot act and informed her I was going to vote for McCain! When I hung up the phone I felt soooooo self-satisfied. "There! THAT'LL show 'em!"

After I calmed down I started thinking about it a little more rationally... What if Roe v. Wade is overturned? What if the codgers on the Supreme Court (many of whom already have one foot in the grave) get replaced by conservative judges? When will we leave Iraq to the Iraquis and start taking better care of our
own? What about the oil? What about the climate? What about the children? What about the old people? What about the poor?

I discovered that the issues are far more important than any candidate's gender, color, religion, baggage, or personality.

I didn't used to think this way. Maybe I'm gaining wisdom.

Or losing my marbles.
