Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the June 14th *morning* news content.
For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.
I run a blog that compiles pretty much every major news article and commentary that comes out each day about Senator Obama. My hope is that it's a useful tool for those who want to keep up with everything going on in the campaign.
I hope this is helpful to everyone.

HI Chris!
And please add this link which clearly shows that Sen. Obama's tax plan will actually give more tax relief to those who need it most than Sen. McCain's. The Republicans cannot continue to spread the lie that Sen. Obama's plan is the largest tax increase in history and won't benefit the middle class. That is EXACTLY who it will benefit... unlike McCain's plan which is most generous to the top 0.1 % of income earners in this country!

I just saw this on CNN Politics. I was living in Texas when that happened and EVERYBODY knew about it. It was a major scandal and I don't know how McCain could have missed it! And oh, yes, women were horribly offended and yes, he was soundly defeated by Ann Richards.
Perhaps someone on here who has access to Hillary's website could post the link? Please? I want ALL our sisters to know who McCain rubs elbows with. I know they (some of our Democratic sisters) are disappointed, but McCain is just not an option. Maybe McCain's site needs a link as well... heck share it with every woman you know.
This wasn't funny when he said it and it isn't funny now. Some voters weren't even born yet, so please spread the word. Those folks don't respect women and are not likely to represent us well. If indeed they represent us at all.

Greg-- for myself, I am uncertain which is worse --
a) Senator McCain doesn't employ anyone who can do a simple google search (I am an internet beginner and I can google search); or,
b) Senator McCain does employ someone who can do a google search, found out this information and did NOT care.
As a woman, the second seems worse, but as an American the first is truly unimaginable -- a President who does not even bother to hire someone who can google search?

My Nephew returned home from Iraq two months ago and I can tell you that he is not the same kid that left a yr ago. This should be spoken of since Mccain DID NOT VOTE IN FAVOR of the GI bill. WHAT IS McCain's mental state??? P.O.W,yes. What has he actually done before joing the military? He was educated in a military academy and had a military career before entering politics. He has not studied law, unlike Barack, who is a constitutional scholar and lecturer. And, I think, that explains a lot about his (McCain's) tirade over this week's Supreme Court decision. I believe that Barack will respect and defend the Constitution, not try to twist and modify it to suit his personal preferences. The difference is mind-boggling!

As far as I know, he has never had a job other than being in the military or in government. I believe he went straight from college into the military and straight from the military into the House of Representatives and from there into the Senate. My opinion is that his famous bad temper is a symptom of mental instability as it has been displayed so frequently and inappropriately.

I disagree with some of this line of thinking here. I dislike the implication that because he is a veteran his mental health is suspect. Tons of his medical records have been released and my understanding is there is NO support for this inference. As far as his health goes, the skin cancer is a much more meaningful issue, I believe.
Apparently (according to Wikipedia,
Link
) McCain has always had a hot temper, even as a child. Rather than a sign of instability, I think it is a very stable aspect of his personality. There is nothing abnormal about having a temper.
Not having firm control over one's temper, however, can definitely be a problem in life and in the presidency. That's a different issue, and I definitely think Barack's cooler and calmer temperament is an asset compared to McCain's "hotter" temperament.

No, Gore has not endorsed Barack. It is my understanding that the two men have had an ongoing dialogue throughout the primary season.
But I cannot see Al Gore, who already served 8 years as VP, who won the presidency in his own right in 2000 (although he was not allowed to assume office) consenting to run for VP again. Perhaps, some know something I do not, but for me the idea just will not fly.

I'm watching CNN and Ali Velshi (that hairless prophet of doom) just said that Obama's energy plan isn't much better than McCain's.I've heard Maria Bartoromo say similar or worse things on CNBC.
Link
What I don't understand is what do they want? None of them has offered any plans that would be better than BO has proposed. Our country is in a huge mess caused the lack of plan of any kind for the last 8 years. At least he's honestly confronting the issue!
Anytime I hear anybody repeat these canned lines I will challenge them to offer something better!

After watching so many reruns of Tim Russert today, it's tough to watch the clowns on CNN. They all look uninformed, phony, and ridiculously biased. It's too bad that those in the news business aren't taking note of the fact that Tim Russert was loved because he possessed so many of the qualities that these people lack. He was smart but humble, hard working but his family was his top priority, and a great interviewer but also a great listener.

When Tim has something to say everyone listens. I remember the night of the NC, and Ind primaries when Tim said we now know who our nominee will be, Barack Obama, I knew he was telling the truth. I know we all will miss him, our prayers are with his family. You all have a great evening.

Who is the Democratic Senator who will not support Barack because "he has terrorists ties"? and did he present his evidence to the DOJ?
Remember that in 2004, Zell Miller of GA refused to support Kerry-Edwards and even delivered a keynote rant at the Republican National Convention. Immediately afterwards, he longed for the days when he could have challenged Chris Matthews to a duel (~:
Also there are some congressmen who will not support Barack because he is too "liberal" for their districts. Heath Schuller of Western NC is one. I think that these congressmen are concerned about re-election and that is understandable. The senator is a coat of a different color and should be challenged by the DNC.

Mark Warner Withdraws as VP Candidate |
Report to Admin
By
HHH Hussein (Harmony, Happiness, Hope)
Jun 14th 2008 at 8:00 pm EDT
For all you Mark Warner for VP fans, he withdrew for consideration today.
Former Gov. Mark R. Warner on Saturday removed himself from consideration as a vice presidential running mate for Democrat Barack Obama.
Warner clarified his intentions for the first time as he accepted the Virginia Democratic Convention's nomination for a U.S. Senate race this fall.
``I have not sought and I will not accept any other opportunity,'' Warner told cheering convention delegates.
He was one of three Virginia Democrats frequently mentioned as potential Obama ticketmates. Neither of the other two, Sen. Jim Webb or Gov. Tim Kaine, have ruled out a run with Obama.
Obama has shown he intends to campaign aggressively in a state the Democrats last won in a presidential election in 1964. His first campaign swing after securing the delegates necessary for the Democratic nomination was June 5 through Virginia.

President tells UK to avoid rushing into troop withdrawals
George Bush flies into London today with a warning for Gordon Brown not to announce a timetable for a British pull-out from Iraq, and expressing deep scepticism about the Prime Minister's high-profile strategy for bringing down world oil prices.
The stern message to the Prime Minister was delivered during an exclusive interview with The Observer, and contrasted with praise for Tony Blair whom Bush is scheduled to meet for breakfast tomorrow ahead of talks in Downing Street. Bush said Blair had never been his 'poodle', but a leader who shared his view that the world is in an 'ideological struggle' and that 'ultimately freedom has to defeat the ideology of hate'.
The President's comments on Brown's Iraq troop plans followed a report last week that a final British pull-out could be announced by the end of the year.

Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the June 14th *evening* news content.

I've been discussing Barack Obama's campaign there and many Hillary supporters are starting to realize that Barack is the clear choice over John McCain.
There are many negative conspiracy theories going around over there about Barack. I need some help in clearing them up. Today they are claiming that Barack's birth certificate is false and that he may not be an American citizen.

CARLY FIORINA IS MCCAIN'S MOUTHPIECE BUT... |

Carly Fiorina is wooing Hillary Clinton's old supporters for McCain. Speaking at a "virtual "town hall meeting with McCain Fiorina sympathized with Hillary Clinton's experience and said, " I have great empathy for what she went through."
She also said that the person to make the right judgements and the right decisions is Johnm McCain.
Fiorina has become an increasingly visible advocate for the Arizona senator, speaking publicly about his economic positions and ripping into Obama over tax policies and Iraq.
"She usually tells me what to say," McCain quipped about Fiorina on Saturday.
BUT Fiorina joined Hewlett-Packard Company on July 19, 1999 as CEO, succeeding Lewis Platt.[13] She was not involved in the decision to spin-off Agilent Technologies but she presided over the process of implementing this decision. She often referred to her efforts as an attempt to "Reinvent HP." During the general business downturn in 2001, Fiorina opted for 7,000 layoffs.
SO FIORINA CHOSE TO LAY OFF 7,000 EMPLOYEES DURING HER TENURE AT HEWLETT-PACKARD SHOWING THAT JOHN MCCAIN WOULD PROBABLY HAVE THE SAME CALLOUS APPROACH TO OUR ECONOMY NOT CARING ABOUT THE AVERAGE WORKER BUT ALLOWING AMERICANS TO SUFFER WHILE HE FREEZES PROGRAMS AIMED TO HELP THEM.
Throughout her career at HP, Fiorina was a very visible CEO. Her business travel included interactions with Hollywood entertainers and politicians. Her actions prompted the San Jose Mercury News to speculate that she might later run for election to public office
Fiorina proposed a controversial merger with rival company Compaq. She campaigned for this plan and it was implemented amid public clashes with board member Walter Hewlett[15], the son of HP founder William Hewlett. The merger temporarily put HP in the top spot in the PC business ahead of Dell Computer Corp (now Dell, Inc.). After the merger, quarterly results were inconsistent and the share price stayed stagnant. HP saw an exodus of top managerial talent, mostly from the Compaq side, including Michael Capellas, Jeff Clarke, Mary McDowell, and the forced resignation of Peter Blackmore. HP's services continued to lose market share .
On 9 February 2005, Carly Fiorina was dismissed as chairman and chief executive officer of HP
SO MCCAIN PICKS FIORINA WHO EXEMPLIFIES THE SAME TYPE OF APPROACH AS HE WOULD HAVE. READ THE ABOVE INFORMATION AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!
