"The best education I received was working with people in the community on a grassroots basis. Because what it taught me was that ordinary people, when they are working together can do extraordinary things." -- Barack Obama
This morning in Austin, Texas marks the start of a two-day training known as "Camp Obama." The Camp Obama program began over a year ago in cities across the country, and was a key part of our early organizing strategy. Many of the graduates from those first sessions went on to play a crucial role as grassroots leaders in their communities, and this early, on-the-ground organization proved vital in the primaries.
Now as the campaign works to staff all 50-states for the general election, we are also hosting Camp Obama training sessions in various states across the country. These training sessions are led by experienced campaign staffers and other professional organizers who are eager to empower dedicated Obama supporters. Attendees of these sessions will learn tactics to help creatively and effectively organize voters, tips to increase visibility of the campaign, and keys to mobilizing other volunteers to join the movement.
The Austin Camp Obama is underway right now, and we will be on site live throughout today and tomorrow to bring you coverage of the sessions.
Stay tuned as we work to mobilize volunteers and supporters in communities across the country.
