Of People and Things by Jimmie Flemming published in the New Brunswick Home News October 16, 1977:
"HAVING A BALL:
Four years ago his hospital stay robbed him of virtually all desire to live. Today, Rocco Mariano, one of New Brunswick's better known politicians, is very much alive and visiting people and places he never thought he would see."
"...Rocco and his wife, Anne celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary by paying a visit to Rep. Ed Patten in the latter's Washington office."
"A staunch Democrat all his life, Mariano has been instrumental in holding the party line in his district for all his candidates and proudly points to the succession of Patten victories in the territory he ruled so long as New Brunswick committeeman."
Another news clipping by Mr. Flemming begins:
HIS HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY:
Rocco Mariano, New Brunswick bricklayer who won an "overwhelming" two vote victory to become a municipal committeeman in the last election, says his 65th birthday was "the happiest I ever observed."
The aritcle ends: "He's still trying to figure out who cast the other vote that cinched his committeeman victory last November."
